All you can eat for $40 !!! 5 nigiri's per person, we tried the salmon, tuna, shrimp, and albacore. All were delicious but my favorite was the albacore the waitress was nice and attentive. Sake was $6. We tried the different rolls and a hand roll. Definitely try the Washington roll! It was seared and so delicious even if you don't do the all you can eat, the prices are cheaper than your usual. Will be coming back again

Enjoyed my uber eats order from here! The fish was very fresh and seemed good quality. I had a chirashi bowl and seaweed salad. The chirashi bowl was very good, although a bit pricey at $40+. The seaweed salad was pretty good as well. I'd order again but more as a splurge

Best sushi Iv had in San Diego, from the outside you wouldn't know, service and staff are top tier and friendly! Only want this place to gain more appreciation and business! Great happy hour Busniess lunch menu

I have only ever done takeout for their specialty Maki rolls so I can only speak to that - But I really enjoy RK Sushi! It's definitely a go-to for me for takeout in the Hillcrest/Mission Hills area. I particularly enjoy the Marissa Roll and Crunch Roll (basic, I know). They have other fun speciality rolls that I've enjoyed as well but always seem to come back to these two. I typically order through their website for pickup and it's usually quick even on weekends. Standard sushi restaurant prices - Not too low, not too high. Parking is easy in a lot out front.

Walked in on a Saturday night and was able to get a spot! The servers were super friendly and it was cool because you can order from the computer right away. Love the efficiency. The fish was super fresh and there was a nice variety of rolls! We ordered 3 different rolls, 2 hand rolls, beer + sake (there was a special) and this was the perfect amount 2 people! Second time at this spot and would go back again! We enjoyed it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super relaxed spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My husband and I ordered takeout sushi on a Friday evening and were absolutely delighted with the presentation and freshness of our meal. We tried the jalapeño bombs, the Abel roll, and the Playboy roll, all of which were exceptional. The crunchy tempura on top of the Playboy roll complemented the creamy avocado, spicy krab, jalapeño, and sriracha sauce beautifully. The Abel roll featured spicy tuna, yellowtail, ponzu, sriracha, as well lemon slices. The fish to rice ratio was perfect, and we appreciated the clear containers that showcased the sushi. The jalapeño bombs were generously filled with tuna, krab, and cream cheese, creating a perfect bite. RK Sushi truly knows how to impress. We will definitely be back!

What happened to the original family that owned RK Sushi? Anyone know? The young woman (allegedly a daughter) who had different colored hair everytime I went and she was so personable? So I pay my rent in Mission Hills once a month and I take the opportunity to order from what USE to be my favorite sushi restaurant. I live in La Mesa so this is a treat for me. Tonight on my way home I was thinking I'm going to treat myself to RK takeout. I ordered 3 Vitamin C rolls (my absolute FAVORITE), miso soup, garlic edamame and a house salad that came to $61.09. First, I asked where the tip jar was and this loud ass male voice yelled from the sushi bar, "ITS OVER HERE". Whatever, I just wanted to order. Guys, this place is no longer owned by the same family. I've never been so dissatisfied and disappointed by anything from this restaurant until today. THE PORTIONS are no longer the same. My miso was a literal CUP...the salad is half the amount, the garlic edamame...where's the sauce? The sides matter! The sushi, I like mine cold and they put my miso soup with my sushi(please keep in mind I'm driving to La Mesa). Prepare yourself...it has CHANGED and not for the good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's no chairs in front of the sushi bar so there's no interaction there. They got rid of the menus and replaced them with tablets so there's barely any interaction there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Makes me really sad. I know things have got to change to match the times but this is not it. Use to be my favorite but I guess I'm sticking to Narumi Sushi in East County. Thanks for the memories RK and the young lady who always smiled, was very friendly and had different colored hair everytime I saw her.

We are always down for sushi anywhere so is my first time having all you can eat sushi I think we got it for $40 a person during one of their happy hours and we were stuffed. It seems like they pack on the rice a little bit, but even still, the quality of all of the options is great, I would highly recommend all of it is so filling!

Stopper by my favorite spot for an early dinner. I'm just never disappointed when I come here. Everyone is always so nice, the food is always SO good & I try to go as early as I can because they do get super busy & sometimes hard to get a table. Which is great for them! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We love a busy restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My three musts are the protein roll, samurai roll, & salmon sashimi. My go to spot!!!

June - owner of RK Sushi
    Mick M.

This is a well kept secret in Mission Hills. The food here is excellent as is the service. June the owner is a sweetheart and all about providing exceptional and friendly customer service. They have a special when purchasing a large beer in that you will receive a hot sake for a penny. And it's decent sake. Not the junk you usually get on happy hour from those other guys. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great spot for lunch if you're in the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high quality sushi at an affordable price.

Ask the Community - RK Sushi

    Do you offer unlimited sushi?

No. They don't do AYCE anymore.

I read on Fb that this place is great for happy hour but I can't find any recent mentions of it. Do they still have it? What does it consist of?

    Is there an ACYE option?

    Nope not anymore.

Is there still the all you can eat option available now?

Nope. I came in as of Nov. 18

Hi is this open to dine in yet?

    Yes

Is there a happy hour for al la carte/Togo orders?

    Is sashimi included with AYCE?

No it is not. It includes nigiri, rolls, and kitchen items, but no sashimi.

How long is the wait on a Saturday night?

    Up to an hour

Do they serve all you can eat sushi? And how much?

Yes, they do. I forget the price but it's affordable. You just need to finish all of it or they charge more.

Books & Records Delivers Live Jazz, Standout Cocktails, and Exceptional Happy Hour Bites…read moreAs a fan of Common Stock, expectations were high for its Bankers Hill sister spot, Books & Records--and it easily delivered. The moment you step inside, the bi-level space makes a striking impression with its mid-century accents, exposed brick, and warm, moody lighting. It manages to balance a lively, energetic atmosphere with an effortless chicness that feels tailored for a memorable night out. The happy hour here is an absolute standout, featuring an expansive array of creative food options and crafted drinks. The menu brings an inventive Asian fusion twist to bar bites, offering flavor-forward small plates that pair seamlessly with the beverage program. The drinks deserve equal applause: the craft cocktails are meticulously balanced, and the signature ube-inspired cocktails are as vibrant and distinct as they are delicious. Adding to the venue's overall charm is the live music program. Catching live jazz, soul, and blues sets elevates the entire experience from a simple dinner run into a full sensory event. The music creates a vibrant, soulful backdrop without overpowering table conversation, striking just the right rhythm for intimate catch-ups or energetic group gatherings. Whether you are dropping in for a quick drink, indulging in a multi-dish happy hour spread, or lingering late for the live tunes and exceptional cocktails, Books & Records captures everything that makes CS Hospitality's concepts so special. It is a stylish, fun, and flavorful addition to San Diego's dining scene.

I like the different variety of table seating to the different rooms of where you can dine. It was inviting and very spacious. Everyone that we encountered was super friendly and outgoing. It was very great hospitality. Our waiter was very helpful and check in on us quite often. The service was Superb. Now the food, we went on a Wednesday which they have Happy Hour all day. We ordered The Record Room Burger which came with Fries. This was very tasty. The fries were excellent. I tried one of my friend's dishes which was the Lamb Meatballs and that was amazing. Sadly, the B&R Mac n Cheese did not do it for me. It was missing seasoning and the flakes tasted stale. The staff did give us salt & pepper to jazz it up which did help. Regardless of the mac n cheese, I really enjoyed this place. The red wine was perfection. Overall it was a great experience and I gotta go back to check out other food items.

The kitchen clearly knows how to prepare quality dishes, and the food is the reason I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of less. That said, I deducted one star because of the location and overall environment. I chose Kingfisher because I was looking forward to Vietnamese cuisine, but when I arrived, my first impression was disappointing. Right by the entrance there was a strong urine smell, and because the restaurant has an open-air layout, it affected the dining experience. I also found myself concerned about the surrounding neighborhood and the overall setting. For me, a great restaurant is about more than just the food--it's also about feeling comfortable, relaxed, and enjoying the atmosphere. Even if a restaurant serves amazing food, the experience isn't complete if the location makes guests feel uneasy. I understand that Kingfisher has earned Michelin recognition, and the quality of the food certainly shows why. However, I hope the overall dining environment can improve because the talented kitchen deserves a setting that matches the excellent dishes they serve. I would gladly return if this establishment were located in a cleaner, more welcoming area without the homeless encampments nearby.

The restaurant has so much character, with dim lighting and walls covered in signatures from past diners that make you feel a real sense of community. Eric and his wife really make the restaurant what it is. They are kind, generous, and genuinely good people who care about their customers. You can see the hard work and heart they put into the food; they are so warm and it makes you feel like you're getting to know them. It's a great spot for mixed groups of vegans and meat-eaters, and I noticed a lot of older families and couples there as well--in my opinion, it would make a great date spot. The food is incredibly thoughtful in a way that feels very personal. We started with a complimentary marinated tofu salad with a unique beet sauce, and the marinated tofu itself was excellent--honestly the best I've had in a while. I was told it's actually hand-made in-house, and you can really taste that quality. They also gave us fried tofu which was a hit with my friends. Eric was even kind enough to give us extra tofu to take home, and following his recommendation, my mother used it to make a fish soup the next day that was delicious. I ordered a modified pork tonkatsu rice noodle soup, and it had a warm, nurturing quality that made me feel right at home. It's a great fusion spot, and because there is so much soul in the food, it isn't monotonous at all. Eric was so attentive that he even brought me extra broth when he noticed my noodles had soaked it all up. They even provided complimentary ice cream and a glutinous rice dish at the end. You go here because you want to feel nurtured and eat food that is good for your body and your soul, and the cherry on top is getting to support such good people. I definitely want to come back when I'm in town.
