Was referred to Drain Rite by Rheem to have my control valve replaced under a warranty. I needed hot water asap. I can endure a cold shower for a couple of days, but the wife and two little girls are a different story. While at breakfast with the kids, I received a call from John shortly after I got off the phone with Rheem. John was able to fit me in within the hour. The tech, Mike, beat me to the house. We had our water heater repaired by this plumbing company to find out they have poor customer service, my wife tried to explain the plumber what the problem was and he made her feel stupid for asking a simple question, besides that they finished the work and few months later we found out there was a gas leak around the tank, I decided to called the office to see if they can help us with the problem to find out they will charge extra since the warranty had expired. I went and checked the problem my self and found out there was a loose fitting left which was causing the gas leak. Not only they have careless technicians but poor customer service as well. Very disappointed with the service. They installed a new water heater in my elderly mom's house and installed it improperly( not to code). When we called them and told them they installed it wrong they said it would be minimum $125 just to come out. They would not come out to fix their mistake without $125 fee. I know it is difficult to find a good plumber and unfortunately Drain Rite is not one of them. read more

John has to be one of the most honest, genuine, kind, patient, and professional human beings I have met. He came out and tried to service our water heater SIX times (due to the heater company's (Rheem) mistakes and incompetence) without a single complaint. He never asked us to pay up front nor pay him at all until the problem was fixed. In fact, due to the Rheem's poor customer service and horrible communication, he never charged us and arranged to have Rheem pick up the bill. Excellent service and very professional. I live in a condominium complex where all of our units are Rheem tankless water heaters. My particular unit had slowly been failing, until it completely went out and left me with no hot water at all. I spoke with John @ Drain Rite and had him come out for an initial diagnosis. I was initially worried at first, as neither he nor Rheem support were able to determine the cause of the issue. Rheem even sent out new parts for my water heater to be swapped out, to no avail. At the time, it was extremely difficult for me to schedule time off from work, and I was the only person who could have given him access to my water heater. This basically meant that I had to request time off from work 30 days in advance, and staggered them a week apart as I had no idea how many times I would have to meet with John. After several unsuccessful attempts to fix my water heater and the last of my personal days coming up, I told John that I simply couldn't go another several weeks without hot water. The details are fuzzy, but he must have made a call to Rheem, explained my situation, and was somehow able to get me a completely brand new Rheem tankless water heater to be swapped out. Granted, this is exactly what I expected of Rheem - if they can't fix my water heater in a reasonable number of attempts, then they should give me a brand new unit - but what I was particularly pleased with was the fact that John went out of his way to make that process relatively pain free and simple (I was expecting to have to fight Rheem tooth and nail to get a new water heater out of them!). As an authorized Rheem service provider, I'm sure he had more pull with them than I did. Every time I called, I got nowhere with Rheem. The installation process also went very smoothly. My Rheem tankless water heater kept giving me an overheat error code. I called around and was given various and sometimes ludicrous (looking at you Parzival Plumbing!) estimates until I had the pleasure of speaking to John. He was very honest and upfront with superb rates. He was able to replace my water heater the next morning in about 30 minutes when other places (Parzival Plumbing) wanted to charge me for 3-4 hours. Worst company ever with the worst costumer service. Do not go to this company unless you're planning to get ripped off and get swindled. My grandparents needed their water heater repaired. On their water heater was this company's phone number so they decided to give this company a call. Instead of giving an appropriate quote, they sent out a plumber who literally just cleaned the pipe for 5 minutes and then left. Barely explained anything to my grandparents and didn't even bother to check if the heater was working. Here's the best part: they charged us $125 for 5 minutes of cleaning, which I could have basically done myself. When I called to talk to someone about it, the costumer service basically said that that's their minimum for sending out someone and it's basically our fault for not knowing. There are plenty of plumbers in the area who are willing to spend the time to evaluate the repair situation and give an appropriate quote. Use them instead of these guys. read more

RUDE, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OVERPRICED We've filed multiple complaints with the manufacturer who referred him to us (GE) He attempted to keep parts that we had ordered through the manufacturer valued at over a couple hundred dollars, PARTS DELIVERED TO OUR HOME COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY THAT WEREN'T EVEN HIS AND WEREN'T EVEN USED FOR THE REPAIR!!!! Never been treated so poorly Ignored our phone calls and emails... John the owner hung up on us, worse customer experience EVER do yourself a favor and find someone else...In my opinion, this guy acted like a crook thanks for nothing JOHN SAVE YOUR MONEY AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE If you'd like the full story please keep reading: I am a really positive person, and am in customer service, I know how customers should be treated... a week ago the water heater at my moms house needed repair, after speaking to the manufacturer we found it was still under warranty, after explaining the issues they sent us parts valued at around $250 dollars, assuming it would be needed for the repair. They then referred us a GE contracted/sponsored service repair man(DrainRite) I admit they did come out in a timely manner, they also were able to repair the water heater, without the use of the parts, and in actuality was hardly a repair at all and more like an adjustment....and while the $125 rate is a bit outrageous we agreed to it. What we didn't realize was that the repairman had taken all the parts when he left the job....no big deal right?!? we'll just call them and tell them so they can bring them back...they didn't respond to the calls at first and finally they did to an email...it said since they have left the service location someone (we) would have to go and pick it up (a bit rude but fine) so we reply "thank you we will pick it up within the week" this email exchange happened on a Friday...I contacted him the following Friday to tell him I tried to go this week and couldn't and that I would be by Saturday (the next day) to pick up the part...he says "No, you have to pick it up today" i say oh, no Saturday hours?? can i come by next week? he says "No, if you are not here by 5pm today those parts are mine" i wasn't even sure what to say...I reply with "maybe you aren't hearing me right and go on to re-explain how they took OUR parts...he said it didn't matter, I immediately ask to speak with a manager or someone else and he proudly replies that his name is John and he is the owner of the company. So i ask him how was it possible to give me such a strict deadline like this, when nothing was even mentioned in the prior email. I say that is my property and I would like it back. I said I can be there tomorrow 6am if need be but that i cant make it by 5pm today. HE raises he voice and says " I gave you a week to pick them up if you cant be here by 5pm your out of luck...at this point I can only laugh and ask him what the hell was going on...he took my property and i want it back what the hell was he talking about....He responds by saying he doesn't have time for this and wouldn't discuss it any further. I cave. I tell him look ill be there today but i cant make it by five, but I will be there before 6... he says "NO" i laugh again and say so if I'm there at 5:05 i cant get them, he says"YEP" . I say that this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, I say "can you ship them to me and I'll pay for the shipping",(again this is my property we are talking about) he says "NO" I tell him this is absurd, i tell him "so your just going to take our stuff" he says "yep,if your not here by 5pm, i don't have time for this and wont discuss this any further" and he PROCEEDS TO HANG UP ON ME!!! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY. THE LEVEL OF DISRESPECT WAS UNBELIEVABLE IT WAS LITERALLY THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I am a positive person and don't like to put negative energy out into the universe, but i believe this review is a necessary re-action to the horrible way he treated me. read more

Very impressed with John Peterson's work and integrity. An explanation of several items that needed to be fixed was emailed to John to get an idea of what it could cost. The estimate came back at over $600. It was agreed, appointment was made and he arrived as scheduled. When he came to the house he discovered that several of the items on the list were much easier to fix than what he had anticipated from how they were described to him. Today I paid $77.50 cash for a plumber name John to come out and replace a Thermcouple on my water heater. My son waited for him while I had to work I came home from work to find my water still very cold I called John and asked him if he can come back out to check my water heater he said no he couldn't and that I should be able to light the pilot myself if it wasn't lit. My water heater's pilot light went out, called 3 different plumbers who couldn't see me the same day. Then I tried calling the manufacturer (GE) and they gave me 2 options: 1. they would send me the part I needed (the thermocoupler) but it would take 5 days to get here or 2. they could search for a plumber nearby who might have the part and be able to fix the problem. Lo and behold with fingers crossed, they GE operator said they found Drain Rite Plumbing and said to call them in the next 5 minutes and maybe they could fix the water heater the same day. So I quickly said thank you and hung up, immediately dialed Drain Rite Plumbing and was greeted by John who thankfully had the part I needed and was able to come to my house that same day I called. In 25 minutes, Michael arrived and got to work, no fluff or talking about potential other problems. He got to work right away, and I kid you not he was done with everything in 15 minutes! I just had a water heater installed by Drain Rite Plumbing. My Bad! I should have done my research. Lowes charges 450.00 for the same water heater that I purchased from Drain Rite for 603.25. Im not sure what the installation would be at lowes but i was charged 450.00 for installation from Drain Rite. My advice for home owners. When something goes wrong with one of your appliances. Dont panic. Shop around! IS could probably have saved about 300-450.00 had I done my homework. :( read more

I feel very fortunate that I found John & company. Our water heater quit working half way through the day. I called a few plumbers referred to me by neighbors but none of them had time to help. I called Rheem the manufacturer and they referred me to several plumbers in my area. I called several that said they would come out the next day and analyze the problem. Then return to home base and have Rheem over night the part to them. I would be charged for two service calls and it would have taken an extra day. None of them had the parts on hand. My last call was Drain Rite Plumbing. John, the owner, said he could be at my home the following morning and he had the parts on his truck. John showed up right on time and he quickly had my water heater going. There was only one very reasonable service charge. You couldn't meet a more knowledgeable or nicer person.
