Beware of Upselling I had a really disappointing experience with Drain Time Plumbing. They sent out a technician who told me he was the owner's son. After taking a quick look, he said I needed an entirely new water heater.. An expensive job and a huge inconvenience. Something didn't feel right, so I got a second opinion from another company. Within minutes, the second plumber identified the issue as a simple, inexpensive fix. Even more concerning, the first thing they did was check the manufacturer warranty, which Drain Time Plumbing never bothered to do. This tells me Drain Time was either careless or trying to upsell me on a major replacement I didn't need. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering this company. Always get a second opinion and make sure the technician actually checks the basics like your warranty before recommending costly work. read more

Scheduled to have an appointment from 11-12pm. Had to call their office at 1245 to see what was going on, because no one texted or reached out to let me know they'd be running late. Technician calls at 1, telling me he'd be here in 15-20 min. Fast forward all the way to 245pm and that's when they show up. I just had a simple sewage clog, but then I get upsold on recommended repairs costing almost 20k???? The cost to snake my sewage line was reasonable, but then you want me to spend 20k to repair it??? C'mon man, seriously!? The technicians were cool dudes, they completed what I requested them to to come and do, but you don't need to try and upsell me on repairs that I don't need. Spoke with them in Sat at 4:50pm about my toilet needing repair. The tank wouldn't fill. They gave me a quote, I accepted and first thing Sunday morning the plumber arrived, fiddled around and realized it was a quick fix and total rebuild of tank stuff wasn't required. It's back working. Really appreciate that he didn't do the rebuild when it wasn't necessary. I paid a reduced fee and we're ready for more company. Arrived on time, explained the job and price. Project in work. Unpacked and Installed, Toilet. Started disassembling Delta Faucet. was unable to remove the set screw due to corrosion. Gave me credit. Disassembled the 2nd Delta Faucet. Went and got Parts Kit returned and installed the new parts, Finished paper work and he left. He was very pleasant. I may of distracted his work in our chatting as he forgot to go back to the toilet and cut the bolts down so the caps could be secured over the mounting bolts. About 2.5 hours in all including a trip to get the faucet parts. I was a little surprised he did not have the tools to drill out the set screw. Being we missed the long bolts I don't know if he had bolt cutter to finish cutting them down. I cut them after I found the caps not on properly. Price was pretty much same as two other quotes. I hired Drain Time because the drain in my shower clogged. I unclogged it with a plunger but thought that it probably had a clog further down and wanted to prevent further troubles. I had a blockage and when drain time came they said they could not clear the blockage and they tried to upsell me hydro jet, which I declined. The also said I needed a new clean out by looking down the main line with their cell phone camera. So basically they just took my money. And I declined both the new clean out and the hydro jet. The next company I used came and cleared the blockage just fine and didn't use a cell phone camera, they used the proper camera to go down into the mainline and cleanout. They were more professional and cheaper. read more

They gave me a time window to come out to give a free estimate and gave me a heads up when they were on their way. James and Brandon were friendly, wore shoe covers (without being asked), diagnosed the problem, gave an estimate and fixed it the same afternoon. Hi guys you remember our residence, we're right around the corner from your establishment. The first time you guys came to our residence, you were called for a clogged bath drain and you sent one of your senior guys. ( who is the father of the son who owns the company told me.) YOU did not do a good job at all when you guys TRIED to snake the drain, it was done through the bath tub drain. I tried to tell you that that won't be possible because your snake won't get through the first part of the plumbing pipe. But listen to me when I don't know what I'm talking about, but I do because I live here and have been living here for a while now so why wouldn't I know that it didn't work because I've done it myself. then I had you go out to the crawlspace where the clean out is. You didn't even do anything while under the house I'm not really sure what you did, but you still didn't unclog our drain. then you told me that you were going to replace the clean out and pick up some material and will be back in the morning still leaving us clogged bathtub. Why would you want to replace the piping system underneath the house? Well, you would wanna do that because that's where you're gonna make the most money. Did that need to be done absolutely not to me. That's completely shady. None of us said that we needed anything done underneath the house. We need you to snake the drain and that was it instead you wanted to make it seem like everything needed to be replaced so that you could charge us $5000 or some crazy amount of money. top it you sent us an invoice for almost $300 when you did absolutely nothing at all, we declined payment. And then you guys tackled us for about a month trying to get the payment which you will never get.I don't know what you guys got going on over there it seems like to me that you're out to make money while doing his little work as possible so we never called you back. Today we had an appointment for you to show up between two and three and you sent one of your guys over at the last minute. I remember how everything went last time so I decided to get everything prepped up as much as possible so that there couldn't be time charged to our residence for once again not doing a full inspection. the guy finally showed I didn't know who the hell parked in my driveway, but it wasn't a company vehicle. It was a personal vehicle, right away. I was like who the hell is this? I asked,where is your company vehicle. He said we don't have any vehicles at the shop right now. I was like oh sure OK whatever, when he got out of the car he had very clean clothes on not dirty at all so my first thought was this guy doesn't do any work. when I saw finally that he was an actual employee, I told chewy, (by the way is short for Jesus if my name was Jesus, I would present and introduce myself as Jesus and not chewy so that was not very professional. Then showing up in a personal car also not professional. I thought was he showed up at the last minute so that he could take his personal vehicle home not have to come back to the shop to drop off the company truck and then just dip out from our residence to go home and that right there says to me this employee is lazy as fuck. holding a tablet and no tools around his belt? whatsoever no tools in his personal vehicle don't look like gonna be able to do much more than me if anything at all. I'm very disappointed with your company and how you guys have handled yourselves while coming to our residence because we need a job done. our tub was leaking from the valve this time around in the main bathroom. It was worn out and just had never been replaced for quite some time maybe as long as 25 years.up. I had already turned the water off, and I had already opened up the crawlspace so that this could move move a little quicker save time and save money. because It seems like your employees like to milk it I said earlier when you sent us an invoice for what exactly?! you guys didn't even do any work and you didn't finish the job at all. We had to call a different company to get the job done. I explain to your guy that I had replaced the cartridge which goes inside the valve and controls the cold and hot water. your employee seemed very uneducated when it came to the profession that he works in. So then he wanted me to put the cartridge back in and turn the water on to see that there was no leak, but I just got done telling him that and I did that so that we didn't have to waste time which the time because here I am putting the in which I didn't need to do. Prior done I contacted my dad who is a retired him what was going on in detail and long story short he said the tub needs to be ripped out the tiles need to be ripped out the sheet rock behind the tile needs to get ripped out so you can get down to the subfloor. We had a plumbing issue last Xmas mainly a backup issue in our drains and predominantly our toilets. They came out ruled out the internal plumbing. But with there ability to scope the pipes they found and I confirmed we had pipes on one end of the house that were cracking. Since my home is well over thirty years old it wasn't a shock to me. Drain time laid out my options I chose to have the area of the issue corrected. They relined the pipes in question. They were easy to work with accomodative to all of my questions and they guaranty their work. Relining pipes is not cheap but neither is replacing them if and when they fail. You could have saved a lot of miscommunication had you simply made it a point to call me back as I requested. Same is true for your technician... he never did get back to me in 2024, sorry but just didn't happen. He also never even made an attempt to remove the valve cartridge which is the only way to really identify the part - since there are no identifying brand marks on the valves... so not sure why he would have spent hours looking online when he didn't even bother onsite to find out? The water cutoff on that valve takes about 1 minute, at the source, to shutoff and I watched another plumber remove it in a few minutes. That's how we ended up identifying the part. I don't think it's the brand you identified, not the brand I was told it was, but perhaps multiple brands used the part. In any case, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, I'm not at all convinced that your technician acted as you suggested but I do believe that you did put some effort into trying to figure it out.
