There are pros and cons to this resort. I think the experience really is per person/family because lots of reviews seem to differ. I liked my stay in the beginning, but closer to the end I wasn't so impressed. Leading up, their Instagram page and the online website really hype up the place. We chose this location for our Babymoon with our first child (1.5 yrs old). I'm 5 months pregnant so the variety of food, pools, and fun for little one was a big appeal. Resort & staff: The resort is beautiful and clean, and the staff are very friendly. But some staff don't seem to know what's going on or how to help, while others are going through the motions. When we asked the concierge for directions to the Kids Club, she sent us to "PB"/lower level where the staff only was. This happened a lot as we saw many other guests saying the same thing "she told us to come to PB". Another staff member didn't know how to get to the Kids Club even though it was located right behind the kids water, a few steps away from where he was working. Kids & teen club: The activities and shows are really only worth it if your child is age 3 and up. You can't take your 1 or 2 year old into the clubs unless it's during family time, which are in the mornings during certain time. The one time we were able to go, no one was there. They were at the kids water park instead. Activities: On the app, they have a lot going on. But nothing actually goes on. Activities run behind schedule and the events you'd actually want to go to don't start until late at night. This didn't work for us most of the time but we just did some later naps for our babe to stay up late. The Circus and Magic shows seem to be the highlight be we're only available during the week. Other days the shows we planned to go to would be canceled morning of, and there would only be DJ's or karaoke. Food: A good variety but everything is pretty meh. Great for kids though as there is something for everyone! Check the app as certain restaurants are closed and others open. Dress code is semi strict for men. Reservations for Hibachi are a must! App can be finicky. Best eats for us: Fusion and Tres Colores Pool: All pools were very kid friendly, especially Mermaid. There was a little "beach" area to walk in and the alternative side had a little splash pool. There were splash pad areas at both pools. Mermaid pool appeared to have the younger kids while Sealegs had more teens and adults. Staff become a lot more friendly if you tip. Room: We had the Junior Suite? At the main building on level 4. There was a mini leak above the fan that we called in and put a towel down. They seemed to have "checked it out" because the towel was gone but it wasn't patched and it continued to drip the rest of our stay. We were worried because it was right above where we put our toddlers crib. 2 nights before checkout there was another leak by the A/C system or whatever it is, right in front of the bathroom door. The leak was spontaneous but a lot of water poured out. We called it in again and they said they would "check it out" again. We had to put 2 big towel on the ground and someone definitely checked it out because they just pushed the towels to the side. No patch work was done and it continued to pour. When I woke up at 5:00 am there was water from the bathroom door all the way to where the end of the closet was. As a 5 month pregnant lady, stepping in this and the potential to slip is absolutely upsetting. Even more upsetting that we made them aware of our room's problems 3x but they made no effort to fix it or to potentially put us in another room. We told them again at check-out and our concierge seemed to already be aware of where the leak was, and just apologized. Nothing more. Bali Beds: We reserved a Sealegs Bali Bed before our arrival. Keep your receipts! At check-out they tried to say we owed them an extra charge of $150. We showed our email and they had to call someone to double check. Took about 15 minutes. At the end of the day it is a tourist destination, so they do what they can. We spoke to some other families (with kids ages 5 and older) who said they love it here and have come back. I've been to a number of carribean all-inclusive trips, at multiple hotel/resort brands. I have to say this is up there as one of my favorites. The resort was clean (very clean), things worked as intended, the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and very helpful, and the food was good! It always helps when you're in Mexico and you get good weather (which we did) but these folks had the grounds and resort, itself, firing on all cylinders. My down-rankings were in the lack of daily engagement and night-time activities. Besides a massive party thrown for the superbowl, I didn't notice any nighttime activites (could be my fault for not looking into it more) and the daily activities existed but the staff didn't really try very hard to pull people "into the fight", if you will. Came here for a wedding and here is an overview of the stay. The best part imo is that it is about a five minute walk to Secrets, the adults only resort. If you have children, stay at Dreams, if you don't, stay at Secrets. I think it's honestly that easy. The only difference is if for some reason Dreams is super less expensive than Secrets and you don't have kids, you might as well stay at Dreams and walk over to Secrets every day. I didn't see a Secrets room, but I can't imagine it being better enough to warrant a huge price difference. Expect to see a wedding if you're here on a weekend, this place gets booked out early for weddings (like a year in advance). However, if you like to dance, it is the weddings that make the lounge fun. I heard the lounge can be pretty dead, but when there's a wedding party coming here for an afterparty, it livens the place up. I heard a couple who was leaving comment how our wedding party made that place fun. The food is like cruise food. Weirdly, a lot of restaurants were closed on certain evenings and there isn't a lot open at lunch. Look at closures before you come, so you don't spend a night eating at a restaurant that you could have eaten at when most of them are closed. I personally liked all the ceviche I tried (I know, brave of me for eating ceviche in Mexico) and disliked all the sushi I tried. All the octopus I tried was quite good too. They are very strict about mens clothes. If you go to a nicer restaurant, the men have to have sleeves. It was pretty funny that my sister and I were able to eat at the french restaurant in a crop top and shorts, but men were sent back to their room to put on a collared shirt. Bring some nice clothes. Room service takes forever, make sure you order ahead. They only bring out room service at certain times, so you go on the app and choose a time. If they are already filled at that time you could have to choose a time hours later. So either plan ahead or figure you'll be walking to a restaurant to get food. Restaurants can get very busy, so it's better to go right when it opens. Otherwise, you may end up waiting a while. There isn't a lot of activities during the day so this is definitely a lounge by the pool or beach type resort. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just be aware. At Secrets they have live music by the pool during the day which was nice. They have a good amount of workers walking by getting drinks. If you want more premium alcohol get a preferred room. They consider titos premium. Otherwise, the preferred room doesn't really seem worth it. The lazy river that only preferred guests have access to seemed really slow and there weren't a lot of people in nit. It's hidden for the most part, but since we were in the main building we could see it. The kids splash pad looked awesome for children. I would absolutely bring my kids here. The rooms are big, but depending on which building you are in, some are better than others. Get a room in the main building if you can. Originally we were in building 7 and it seemed older. The only downside to the main building was for the ocean view there was no shade on the balcony so we almost didn't use the balcony at all. read more

Catastrophic Experience - Do NOT Book Your Wedding or Large Events Here! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We booked a block of rooms for our wedding, including a specific suite for the wedding couple based entirely on the gorgeous photos displayed on their website. What we actually received was a complete bait-and-switch. Our first day--which was supposed to be filled with excitement and preparation--was an absolute nightmare. The room we were given looked absolutely nothing like the pictures online. It was smaller, outdated, and entirely unfit for a wedding couple and their family to get ready in. When we brought this to the front desk, the customer service was downright abysmal. Instead of trying to help a stressed-out couple, the staff gave us lies upon lies, making up excuses about availability and room categories. To make matters worse, we were repeatedly told that a hotel manager was "unavailable" or "in a meeting." We spent hours trying to speak to someone in charge to find a solution, but leadership completely hid from us. The sheer lack of professionalism and accountability ruined what should have been a beautiful start to our wedding weekend. Do not trust their website, and do not risk your major life events here. Beautiful/clean resort. Luckily it wasn't a full week trip or I would've starved. Got extremely sick from either food or ice but I was very careful with limited ice and only bottled water. The food was not edible, would take a few bites and be done EVERY MEAL. The staff on the resort was excellent except the hotel lobby/reception. They were asking us to AI change our age on our identification to over 30 to get some free perks but we didn't like the deceitfulness as we were looking to book for our upcoming destination wedding. We asked multiple times if we could speak with wedding/event coordinators and they were too busy to come and speak to us our entire trip. I will not be back. read more

If you're looking to lose weight on vacation, this is the resort for you. Note their approach is a bit unconventional. Between questionable hygiene and inedible food, I lost about 15 lbs after contracting sapovirus on day one, with relentless vomiting, watery diarrhea, and food so bad I ate exactly one meal over the remaining four days. My wife lost 5 lbs simply because the food was that repulsive. I later ended up in the ER with severe dehydration and ongoing diarrhea, where I was diagnosed with sapovirus. I had seen Yelp reviews warning about the food and dismissed them as typical Yelp negativity. Huuuge mistake. This is hands down the worst food I have ever had at a hotel. I am a Lifetime Globalist and have stayed at a lot of Hyatt properties. Nothing comes close. Imagine the worst buffet you have ever experienced. Now lower your expectations even further. We hoped to find some refuge at the Dolce sweets shop, but they screwed even this up by serving the cheapest, sugar free tasting ice cream I've ever had. We eventually gave up and survived on Doritos from the pharmacy. While I was stuck in the room recovering, we received a steady stream of phone calls repeating the same liability polished script while offering zero help. I did not report the illness looking for compensation. I wanted to make sure no one else got sick. I was told they had only one other report, so there was nothing to worry about. Cool! Beyond that, there was a parade of smaller failures. Five staff members barged into our room despite the Do Not Disturb sign. The balcony "hot tub" was really just a cold bathtub. The preferred beach cabanas had a primary view of bushes. At some point my wife and I stopped being angry and just started laughing. The lone bright spot was a genuinely great burger at the New Year's Eve event. If only that level of care extended anywhere else. I rarely raise issues during a stay, but given the illness and everything else, I did this time. I was repeatedly told a manager wanted to speak with us. I declined, figuring if there was something meaningful to address, they could reach out protectively. On our last night, they finally did. I answered the phone and was greeted with, "What do you need from me?" That summed up the trip. Leadership sets the tone, and here the tone is indifference toward food, hygiene, and the guest experience. We booked 4 rooms for 15 people for 5 nights. On the second night, smoke entered one of our rooms through air vents. We have a 4 year old and a child with asthma. We called to ask that they investigate the room below us because we knew they were smoking (could see if from the balcony). The resort did nothing to solve the problem. The same thing happened the next night and we called again (1 AM). So, we lost 2 nights of sleep. We know the resort is breaking the law since they are not providing a safe, healthy environment and are allowing smoking in rooms. Under Mexico's federal General Law for Tobacco Control, it is against the law to allow smoking in hotel rooms. Hotels that allow smoking inside rooms can be heavily penalized by the government.On our last night, we moved to a different room. The resort refused any compensation for allowing 2 nights of the stay to be ruined. We will ask our booking company to alert Mexican authorities of the unlawful practice of this resort. read more

I would give this resort a 3-1/2 star due to some unfortunate situations we found ourselves in. We stayed here for 5 nights and 6 days for my friends wedding. We booked a preferred club swim out suite. Initially the arrival processes was very pleasant. We booked a private transfer service with the resort to and from the airport. Upon arrival you get a hot towel for your hands and a drink. Since we had a preferred suite we were escorted to the private lounge for check in. Everything was good until we got to the room.. the suite was not cleaned at all. Floors were dirty, counters stained with rings and food, sink was clogged with dirty water. You would think for the price..and in a post covid world.. cleaniness would be of utmost importance. They offered to have housekeeping come and actually clean the room for us; so gracious. No form of compensation or perk offered. We were unfortunately swindled into a "breakfast" to learn about their vacation club program. Well this was our first and last time to ever deal with something like this. We wasted 5 hours of our vacation. And ultimately insulted, belittled, and held in a room against of will after requesting multiple times to end the conversation. Besides that.. everything else was ok. The resort is nice. The pools were clean. Drinks were flowing. Service at the bars and staff were very kind. The food was okay.. I didn't have a meal of lasting impact. Overall, if you do stay here - the preferred suites are worth it imo. We enjoyed the round the clock snack service and private bar. read more

Went in 2021, honestly 2,000 a night isn't bad. Listen right, mangoes and tahin sourced from mehico is fire, essentially when the random Mexican people serve it to you on the small carts they call "carretas" The room is large, large is large if you wanted know. This room is 22 meters by 24 meters if you get 2 bed and free ammeter, amenities, including the following (m and ms, Mexican Coca Cola, sprite, etc). The room views consists of trees, trails, and people who are baked. They have great hot tubs, great cabanas. You know they have really good hibachi, for a Mexican country 4 star hibachi restraunt, it's fire. There's so many other things i can mension but I'm getting to the point where I can't feel my fingers. Have a good day. read more

My family stayed here for 5 nights of winter break over Christmas. If I can describe my experience with one word it would be MEH. Aside from a horrible check out experience and experience at Maris which I will get to later, there really was nothing terrible. There was also nothing that really stood out as amazing making me want to come back. The pools were nice and clean. The beach was easily accessible with plenty of towels available everywhere. The food was very mediocre. As a pescatarian we tried a lot of fish and the only properly cooked fish anywhere was the salmon at the Hibachi table. All of the other fish was dry and overcooked. Even the fried fish in the fish tacos was excessively cooked. The Hibachi table was a great experience which we were only able to get because we had an atrocious experience at Maris and they gave us the reservation at the Hibachi table as a make good. Our waiter at Maris had no idea what he was doing and apparently was a gaucho at the Brazillian place just filling in. We ended up walking out after an hour of waiting because he did not know how to put our order in so most of our food was not ordered. One piece of advice is tip generously. Even though it is all inclusive, tossing the bartenders a few pesos here and there will result in getting full alcohol drinks and not getting watered down trash. Its unfortunate that it comes to that but it is what it is. For $10-20 per day in tips, my service was great. They also quickly served my kids their non-alcoholic drinks. The worst part of anything was at checkout. We had a noon checkout time and a car to the airport at 11. They told us we should probably have our luggage picked up at 9 to make sure it gets where it was going. We gave the bellman our larger bags but kept some things in the room that we wanted available in the 2 hours between then and leaving. We left the room to go for a walk after the bags were picked up. When we got back at 10:30, there was a cleaning lady in our room with our stuff on the cart and in the garbage including jackets, food and my wife's glasses. We got most of the stuff back but what the heck. When we questioned the manager he blamed us and said the cleaner did not see luggage so she thought we left everything despite not checking out. Afterwards, I emailed the general manager who said the same thing. Corporate was not happy when they heard this. read more

Gisselle kept saying rooms not ready...10 more minutes....10 more.... 10 more... Meanwhile it is September 11th... Offseason and the place is DEAD. The next day I get a note from. "Leo" At Preferred that he has a "gift for me". He wants to give me 300/in excursion vouchers if I take a tour of the Secrets Playa Blanca-- 10 minutes away. The tour would include an opportunity to join the Hyatt Club and I'll be there about 90 minutes. FOUR Hours later... I am trapped at Secrets and they are sending in 10 closers to get me to sign a timeshare. They came down HARD.... But so did I.... My Italian started to surface and it drew a crowd....Ask me if I care. I keep insisting they take me back to Dreams and after many fights...I finally got a ride. Dreams gave 2-Shits about my nightmare... They fed me to their Wolves... Dreams did NOT get a kickback and that is ALL That mattered. Dreams food sucked. Dont matter where you ate. They don't believe in fabric softener so .... the towels and robes stand alone in the bathrooms. I can't wait to leave.... Plane takes off the 17th. Do NOT Come Here. read more

Martin explained all the amenities and necessary room information clearly and efficiently.Martin and Fernando were then so helpful in getting me and my bags to the shuttle on time. Great staff all around. Came for a wedding. Have been to other resort weddings and had one myself. This was the best! Professional staff, beautiful ceremony and they partitioned some of the beach just for the ceremony so no tourists in the background. Excellent Mariachis. The bride was very happy. Unfortunately lots of mosquitos. Beautiful and very clean resort. Decent room service menu until 3am. Large and updated rooms but throughout resort can see where they did quick / messy fixes to walls and doors. Overall great experience, sad to leave. read more

After a series of smaller trips and vacations with family, we were long overdue for a blowout family trip. On July 10, 2024, we finally made it back to Cancun, and our private transport quickly whisked us away to Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort. It was well worth the wait. == Location Cancun is a tropical paradise in southeastern Mexico on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. Located on the Caribbean Sea, Cancun boasts lush greens, clear blue water, and white sand beaches. The weather in July is hot and humid, but that made the ocean and pools feel that much better. Unlike some other locations in Mexico, like Los Cabos, there were no restrictions on swimming in the ocean. == Property The resort itself was great. Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort is part of the former AMResorts suite of properties, now owned by Hyatt. The rooms were very nice, the common areas well maintained, and the pools plentiful and fantastic. Other features include marble floors and even hydrotubs on many balconies (ours included). Having previously stayed at a premium resort in Cancun's hotel zone, we can attest that Playa Mujeres feels more secluded, private, safe, and expansive (in the best sense of each word). == All-Inclusive Experience We loved being at an all-inclusive resort, and it certainly won't be the last time. Here are some highlights of the "Unlimited Luxury" offered at Dreams: - 24-hour room service - Gourmet dining at several on-site restaurants - Unlimited drinks - Complimentary mini-bar (refilled daily) - A steady dose of day and nighttime activities and entertainment - Free WiFi and international calling For people that live on a budget, and especially for those who are overly "attentive" to that budget, there is nothing better than an all-inclusive package. You price the vacation, book it, and the financial portion of the vacation is complete. No more of this: "well, we had a pretty expensive dinner last night so maybe we should do something simple today...." And a lot more of this: "appetizers...sure! Another margarita...absolutely! Dessert...of course!" == Activities During our stay, we enjoyed a variety of activities. We checked out the kayaks, took a water aerobics class, played volleyball and basketball poolside, swam with dolphins, and relaxed our little hearts out. We also had the option to rent a WaveRunner, play 18 holes on the putting green, take a personalized bike tour, and use the fitness center, but relaxing took priority! The evenings frequently involved a trip to the theater, and their nightly entertainment was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the circus show and the magic show. == Staff In a word, the staff at Playa Mujeres was fantastic. The entire team was warm, welcoming, and helpful in every way. Eric (VIP staff) and Valeria (chief concierge) deserve special mention. We had a couple of small issues when we first checked in related to our room. Eric and Valeria were nothing short of incredible. Not only did they resolve our issues, but they also went out of their way to make sure the rest of our trip was outstanding. Whether it was helping us get reservations at the always-in-demand Hibachi grill or providing some "off-menu" perks, Eric and Valeria made us feel like royalty. == Conclusion We can't imagine a better destination for our first big family trip in years. I'll set it straight. Dreams Playa Mujeres is a legit family resort. Absolutely beautiful and well maintained. They have so many activities and restaurant choices that can keep you busy for the week. The Dreams staff is what truly makes it. I'm gonna shout out some key staff members we met. From the cleaning service (Josephina) to the pool bar tenders and pool staff (Miguel and Gambino) super fast service and kept the drinks coming. The Entertainment Staff is so amazing. High energy and games throughout the day. Go (Jackie, Angel and others). We thought the food was good. Keep in mind at a resort they are feeding for the masses. So many choices at and options. They will often deviate to accommodate you. Just ask! Our favorite was the French Restaurant and Gouchos Brazilian Restaurant. The World Cafe in our opinion is best at breakfast. Loved loved the made to order omelets. Don't hesitate booking here. You get what you pay for. Pointers: Pay extra for private convenience to and from Cancun Airport through Ammstar. New full size SUV with no stops. Bring $5 and $1 bills. Tip well. The staff deserves it and it goes a long way for them. We brought $200 just for tipping for the week. That's nothing. Men, bring a pair of pants for evening dinners. You won't get in. They will seat you outside. You also have access to Secrets next door. 18 and up adult only if you want a quiet afternoon. My only wish was I like my beers to iced cold. Here they are fridge cooled and not the coldest. So... I fill my sink with ice and put a 12 pack in there. I'm a beer jerk I know. That's it. We were invited to Dreams Playa Mujeres Resort for a wedding celebration for friends! They are located in Cancun Mexico. Super excited to spend some time at this fairly new property. This is a private luxury property all inclusive resort. Upon arrival you go thru two security gates. We felt very safe at thus resort, armed security walked the beach our entire stay. They keep your passports until you leave the property for security reasons (day pass). Food: Our wedding meal actually was amazing, we were actually surprised. I really enjoyed the wedding cake the most, so creamy, light and yummy! Bar services: The mixed drinks were watered-down, we tried multiple drinks. Decided to just go with tequila shots instead. Customer Service: We were quickly escorted to guest services upon our arrival. So we could purchase our one day pass, since we were staying another Cancun resort approximately 20 minutes south of this resort. It rained the afternoon of the wedding, and neither the hotel staff nor the wedding planners had a plan for inclement weather. Staff: All the staff that we came in contact with from the front desk, bartenders, were all very friendly and professional. Beach & pools: Beautiful is the only word that comes to mind! Its a Hyatt Luxury property, just what I expected! The grounds- gardens are well manicured, the workers are amazing. TIPS: If you are invited to a wedding, make sure they have the package that pays for your arrival. If not they charge $100 USD per person. Jus another rip off in Cancun. Also be advised that the wedding planners are a separate vendor, not affiliated with the hotel staff. So I'd strongly recommend that if you decide to have a Cancun wedding, make sure there is a inclement weather plan. If you wanna be in the mix, better transportation (public buses) cheaper cab rides, this is not gonna be your spot. They are approx 1hr from airport and main attractions. Would I visit or stay at this resort? Keeping it real, If I get another invite of course. Would I book on my own, probably not. I travel way too much thru out the year to spend approx $1000 per day on a resort. If this is your only vacay for the yr, yes its a good option for your family. Everything you need is located in one compound. If your looking for a 18 hole golf course, this is your place. My experience at Dreams Cancun was incredibly disappointing. There was no communication from the staff regarding the recent law changes related to the local election, which severely impacted our stay. We were unable to enjoy the all-inclusive drinks as advertised--most bars, including the pool bars and even the club, refused to serve any drinks. We had to walk across the entire resort just to sit at a restaurant and order a drink, even on my 30th birthday. After multiple complaints from guests, they finally put up signs informing us of the laws, but the staff acted like we should already know about these election restrictions, despite most guests being from other countries. The food was another major letdown, barely resembling Mexican cuisine and overall quite terrible. The only decent items I had were the fish tacos and coconut shrimp from Maris. The only positive aspect was that they hosted a beautiful wedding we attended, but it seemed like they didn't put the same level of care into the rest of the resort. The staff was friendly, but the resort itself is poorly managed and unorganized. Our experience at Dreams Costa Rica in Guanacaste was much better--unfortunately, this location did not meet expectations. Would not recommend. So this is a tentative 2 star review because my stay is not over yet. However, here is my reasoning behind the two stars. Positives: Most of the staff is pleasant and cheerful and seems to like their jobs and do them very well. The check in process was a little confusing but ended up not taking too long. The room is very nice. Very clean and a lot on amenities such as, wireless blue tooth speaker system, dozens of bathroom amenities (too many to name to be honest), a fridge stocked with beer, water, and soda that is replenished daily. My cleaner even read my note and removed all the beer and stocked only soda and water. The clean your rooms daily and even do a turn down service in the evening to prepare your beds for speed and put chocolate on your pillow. The balcony has a jet tub and the room has black out curtains also. Thank god my AC works well since there are very few places on site that have cold AC. The resort is very safe and there have been no issues related to setting off my "safety alarm" in my head. Negatives: The food is horrendous, so far at least. I have only dined in two restaurants so far and the food is easily the worst resort food I have ever had. To put it into perspective, I would say it is on par with an elementary schools cafeteria. There selections are pitiful and quality is nonexistent. I have been pretty much living off of the rooms service burgers at 11pm each night as my sustenance for the day. There is an app that your room key, reservations for restaurants, ordering room service and a lot of other things that the resort relies heavily on for the experience with a guest. The app does not work unfortunately. It has not worked since we arrived and I do not think it will be fixed by the time we leave. It has probably been down for months and the staff just deals with it as best as they can..which is not at all. I tried making reservations at the only restaurant on site that requires them is the app only to later find out that the only way to get a reservation is to book it at the restaurant itself but that the restaurant is completely booked the entire time we are here. How is that possible? How is that acceptable to a guest staying here? Most likely it is because it is the only restaurant with edible food. I guess I will never know. The alcoholic drinks have very little alcohol in them and when you ask for something specific, the bar tenders usually say they don't have the ingredients (bananas for example). Additionally, unless you ask for a regular pour or specific type of alcohol and tip them ahead of time, you are only getting a half shot of what alcohol is in your drink.. sometimes even less. The entire resort closes at 10pm and there is literally nothing to do. No swimming, eating, or entertainment of any kind. I should have brought a deck of cards and a poker table. That way me and some guests could have some fun and I could maybe win some money to offset the cost of staying at this place. If you need assistance from the front desk for anything..good luck. I was trying to use the ATM machine and it wasn't working. So, I went to the front desk and I am going to explain the interaction word for word. Me: Hi - I am trying to get money out of the ATM and it seems to be down or broken. Can you tell me how I can access cash via a bank card or credit card? Front Desk Person: You can use the ATM. Me: Is there more than one ATM? I used the one around the corner. Front desk: Yes, it is around the corner. Me: That one is broken. Front Desk: The ATM is not working currently. Me: Is there a manger available to speak with? Front Desk: Yes Me: Can I ask him or her about the ATM? Front Desk: They are not here. Me: What can I do to speak with someone who knows anything about the ATM? Front Desk: That is the manager. Me: Do you understand English? I think there may be a language barrier issue. Front desk: Would you like to leave a message for the manager? Me: Yes that would be great. I appreciate your help. I just need some cash and maybe he or she can at least give me an estimate on when they expect the ATM to be fixed. Front desk person starts walking around behind the desk moving some papers around for a couple minutes and returns to me and says. "Is there anything else I can help you with?". There was no message taken he did not have my name or room number. I pretty much came back to my room and started writing this review. There is a good chance this review degrades to a one depending on how this ATM issue pans out. Good news is my experience can only improve from here I guess. I will finish my review at the end of my trip this Saturday. read more

Considering how much you're paying to stay here, the overall experience was super disappointing and definitely not worth the money. From check-in to check-out, the staff was super unfriendly and inattentive. I've stayed at many all inclusive resorts throughout Mexico and this was by far the most unpleasant experience yet. During the check-in process, the guy never mentioned that most all services, including room service, would require you to order through their app. He never once gave us directions on how to download the app or let us know what the app is even called. When asking several staff member where things were located, they just simply redirected us to check on "the app." We finally had to go back to the front desk later that evening to inquire about the app when they then show us a QR code that we can scan to download the app onto our phones. If so many things are dependent upon us downloading the app, then that is something they should've made us do during the check-in process. They also mentioned that we could order room service through an iPad/tablet that is in our room. Nope, no tablet to be found in our room so we couldn't even order room service until we downloaded the app onto our phone. The service was subpar at best and we would literally have to wave the staff down at an EMPTY bar in order to get a drink. There would be three staff members at the bar conversing with each other, and not doing their job. With the exception of the French restaurant, the food was not great, which was super disappointing since all the other all-inclusive hotels I've visited had great food and options. The only decent area was the beach/pool and the staff there were actually a lot more attentive and came by to check on us to see if we needed any more drinks. Other than that, this hotel and experience was utterly disappointing and it did not feel like a vacation at all. There are so many nicer resorts that are comparable in price that will give you better service and hospitality. read more

The grounds of the entire resort were clean and very well kept! Honestly, the resort was exactly like pictured online, there wasn't any catfishing. We went for a wedding and I felt like everything turned out beautifully and it appeared to be customizable to the couple. The drinks were lacking (which I find to be the case with all resorts) but the food was impeccable! Probably the best food I've ever had on an all inclusive resort. The beach had tons of space but had a tad bit of seaweed but once you go a foot out from the shore it was fine. There were a number of pools so it never felt crowded. We went Labor Day weekend and it wasn't crowded at all, very nice chill vibe. Bring bug spray for the mosquitos! read more

My family and I had an amazing time! Our friends got married here, the ceremony and reception was amazing! The food was great and the views even better!!! Since we attended the wedding child free, we brought our nanny along (aka grandma for hire lol). My parents, my sister and brother in law came with us and they also had an amazing time!! Must try places: Tres colores - amazing food (sope de pulpo, flautas, chicken mole negro) drinks , ask for one of the best waiters: Manuel. Nice place to dress up for. World cafe - best for family meals, breakfast and lunch buffets. Made to order smoothies, omelettes, lunch. Tides- great finger food and kid friendly! Try the wings !! The best waiters here too!! Dolce- right next to Tides, AC ice cream shop!!! So delicious. Open late!! The beach is literally a walk away , the spa is a must ( I recommend Sandra and Amalia)!! I absolutely loved this resort!! The customer service was amazing, the waiters, the bellmen they all recognized us after 1-2 days there lol. Tips: bring cash for tips ($5-$70 is what we tipped) we always tipped. If you don't plan on tipping because you think it's included in the price, it's not. Don't be cheap. We saw people tip $1 or leave no tip but there the same person asking for a million things and extras. It has been 3 years since we have been in this specific AM resort. We are UVC members and the resort is in dire need of a "spiff". The entire resort looks rundown. We did enjoy the staff show. The food at the Mariscos restaurant had some good options. The Brazilian and the Hibachi were enjoyable. The sheets were like cardboard that you can see thru. The staff on the other hand were very attentive to our granddaughters needs and wants. I will not return. The price paid is not worth the rundown sheets pillows or towels. Everything was a very "used" appearance. It is as though the company has chosen not to replenish the products that are used daily by the guests. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

Wedding/Vacation Collectively as a group we spent over $200k. I think I can leave a honest clear review with photos that would be deciding factors of your future trip here. 1. The golf cart guys, and front lobby people are amazing. They would give us information about the city and resort. Remembering names and families. Made us feel warmed and welcomed. 2. Smoking policy is STRICT, kinda beyond what makes sense. Why would you all sell us a $600 cigar rolling table with matches and then tell us we can smoke outside the party, THEN tell every that did move outside to smoke they can't smoke. That's very inconsiderate and why would we spend 600 for a cigar roller when we can smoke them. Literally a joke. 3. This place is UNSAFE. We had 3 guest slip and fall because of wet floors. One guest went to get assessed and they were trying to charge him to even look at it. WARNING most of the floors are wet from condensation in public and private places. I was afraid to have my father walk home on his own due to this. UNSAFE conditions. 4. My guest had their bathroom ceiling fall in, along with multiple mold issues. 5 rooms had to be reassigned due to mold and water damage. So over 10 people had to be moved due to water or mold issues. 5. Communication- My guest of honors gets to the resort. She is 98 years old and needs a handicap room. The reservation includes handicap on actual paperwork. She had to wait until 6pm to get a room. That is ridiculous. 6. Food- it's a no for me but had a few places that we enjoyed. But from the soft over cooked shrimp to the pizza with no sauce. It's not worth the resort fee they charged my guest to be on the resort. 7. Prices change all the time here. They literally will change before your eyes. We were charged various different prices pending on the day. They kept reinstating their policies but never stated these things before. 8. I would not invite a big crowd here. I would be firm on the price I pay because it's not worth it to me. The place is old, shabby, they don't serve food all day. They don't serve drinks all day. Overall not really a vacation, more like a facility stay. The most fun I had came from the people who showed up for us at this wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. But seems like they do so many that they do it day by day. So a few unorganized points that caused frustration. Paloma was Awesome Leo was Awesome Martin was Awesome Alex was Awesome. But understand this hotel will scrape you for every dollar. Literally saw the. Leave my grandfather because they were focusing on a balance that "wasn't unpaid". Would I come back? Absolutely not, and I would suggest you come unless you've never been on a resort before. Otherwise you will be dissatisfied. This is NOT a 5 Star Hotel. UPDATE: Spoke to operations manager Jessica Jimenez. I had to force the front desk lady for me to speak to her. Her frustration gave Jessica the wrong impression and she barely wanted to listen to me. Gave her room numbers told me I don't have to repeat it. At the end she said there was nothing to do about it. Another update is she works between both of the scamming hotels. I've had guest irate in the lobby due to the horrible service. This is just terrible. Secrets and Dreams. I stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres for 4 nights for a friends weddings and had a great time. The resort is located in a gated community, which made us feel safe and secluded. We did need a private driver from the airport, but I believe that the hotel can create accommodations. This was a nice perk since We were not familiar with the area. Once at the resort we were greeted by staff with drinks and pastries. The staff was informative and helped us acclimate to the resort. We did get a pitch about extras that we were not interested in, and it was uncomfortable to constantly decline. A lot of the extra services were very expensive and not part of the all inclusive. Once at our rooms, we had a fridge full of drinks and bottled water. We tried several of the restaurants they had there and were quite happy with the quality. It was the best food i have had but it was terrible, I would say on par with a $15 dollar meal in the states. The staff was friendly and helpful with each restaurant and were nice enough to accommodate our allergies. Tipping isn't mandatory but it is always appreciated by the staff. The resort is right on the beach, so navigating around is fairly easy. They provide towels and unlimited drinks so soak up some sun. top tips - bring plenty of sunscreen, it can be very expensive at the resort. - Tip the staff 1-2 dollars as a kind gesture - the food is not amazing but if you find the right café or restuarant that you like you can keep going there. I would go back there for another wedding since I had a great time with the amenities and staff. read more

My family and I have just returned. Two years ago we were at Dreams Riviera Maya and surprisingly the two could not be more different. Pros for PM- -pristine beach, little to no sargasso. -bar employees very attentive and friendly -restaurant employees on the whole were the same. -transfers and check in was easy and fast -kids and teens clubs were great -water park was great -housekeeping was competent and accomodating Cons- -Restaurant wait was 1.5-2.5 hours. For a self billed FAMILY resort this is not family friendly or acceptable. What1,6,8 year olds can wait 2 hours to eat?? Consequently we ate almost all our meals at the ok buffet. For 15 grand we expected a whole lot more. Puzzling as if you looked inside there was plenty of seating, but yet one waits and waits and waits......... MAJOR Dissapointment. -Thanksgiving Dinner-another even longer wait. There was an additional $100 per person for turkey!!!! NOT all inclusive!!!!! -on another occasion, guests were required to purchase 2 bottle of wine for admittance. Also not inclusive. -bar service was polite but not especially convivial -"alcoholic drinks" are tasty but alcohol is nowhere to be found. Stingy. -room service was timely but tasteless, limited and skimpy. Stingy. -minibar was stocked but minimally, no snacks. Stingy. -hot tubs were not hot -first impressions of the property are great but age is starting to show -lazy river was a snore Compared to Dreams Riviera Maya this hotel was a big let down. Even the 8 year old told me it was not as nice and yet they charge more here. In almost everyway Riviera Maya eclipsed this resort. The only explanation I can think of is that Dreams has been Hyatt-ized. RM had just been take over by Hyatt when we stayed there. Two years later Hyatt seems to be wringing every nickel out of their properties. Stingy, sad and counterproductive. Its sad as we really enjoyed RM but we will not be returning to Playa Mujeres or any other Hyatt for that matter. Ever again. read more

I can't think of anything redeeming about this place so if you can help it, I urge you to stay somewhere else I had a friend get beat up by people at this hotel and the staff would not help him afterwards and I had my favorite shirt ruined by unlabeled wet paint... also, the elevators and room keys are constantly broken, meaning you are at the liberty of the staff and regularly can't get to your room read more

French restaurant is not allowed to have kids that under 13 years old. Even though the resort is a family oriented. We paid a full price for our 10 old son but couldn't go there. The restaurant is on resort territory but appears to have this age discrimination rules. I wouldn't recommend for family with kids to go there read more

I can't say enough good things about this resort. My husband and I just got married here and couldn't have chosen a better place!! Iridian our wedding coordinator was outstanding. She made our experience so special. We had 50 guests and no issues at all with rooms/quality. Everyone said this was the nicest hotel they had been to EVER and I have to agree. I'm writing this from a crappy hotel down the road and wish we had extended our stay at dreams instead of leaving. I can't wait to come back!! All the food is amazing, even room service! Request building 6 if you get a swim out. The upstairs terrace isn't necessary for the junior suite private pool room. I can't wait to come back!! read more

Since we stayed at Secrets Resorts, we were able to check out the restaurants at Dreams as well. On our first night, we ate at Gaucho Grill, which is a Brazillian Steakhouse. The food was okay there. We wanted ice cream, so we walked over to Dolce and got some scoops. Then we went to Tres Colores after that! At Tres Colores, they were offering Mexican Cuisine, but we were still full, so we just decided to get some more dessert LOL. We had an awesome presentation of the alcohol-infused slice of cake we ordered. Our server used alcohol to do a magical fire show that last about a minute! The alcohol infused cake was a bit strong for me though. I'll be sure to try their main entrees next time! read more

My wife and I stayed for just over a week in January in a Preferred Club Junior Suite with Ocean View. We had a very disappointing experience Let's start with the food. The buffet is inedible, absolutely terrible. I would not wish that buffet on an enemy. Our first night there we went to Fusion, the food I had was tougher than my shoe and with less flavor. Maris was not bad, but was not a restaurant I would enjoy anywhere else in the world. L'etoile was probably the best place we went. Gaucho had a variety of different meats but they all tasted the same. On the Secrets side, Portifino looked like if someone had never had Italian food and made it based on your description. El Patio tasted incredibly generic. Next up are the drinks. There is a solid variety of liquors but the biggest disappointment was that bartenders were unequipped to make many basic drinks. There were NO fresh bananas at any of the bars (or even on the resort for that manner). There was no rum/coconut liquor (which seems like a staple at a tropical destination). The bartenders unfamiliar with many basic drinks and even after showing them recipes (and tipping) they were unable to make them or they came out poorly. The pools/beaches were the highlight. The pools had plenty of space, lots of chairs and plenty of options. The best part of our trip was sitting there with no one around to bother us. The service was terrible. When we arrived we were taken to the preferred club lounge for check in and then taken to our room which was lovely, however there was no tour of the resort. We were given an outdated map which led to us looking for a non existent juice bar for hours. There were several occasions where we went to restaurants, were seated and then ignored for 15 minutes before someone even came to bring us water. After the trip when we reached out to management we were told that there was no record of any complaints with the meal so they could not do anything. Apparently if you are having poor service you are required to report it on the spot or else it cannot be addressed. On our final day there we started to feel unwell and by 5:00 PM we and another couple we were with were both violently ill in our rooms. We called to staff to see if there was a doctor or any one who could bring us medicine from the gift shop if we purchased it and were told we would need to leave the resort for a doctor and no one would deliver medicine. This is a stark contrast to the only other tropical all-inclusive we had visited which is a Sandals property in Barbados. At that property everyone you encountered endeavored to make your stay magical. The food there was amazing and drinks were fresh and delicious. Overall if you are looking for a place to just sit on the beach, have someone bring you sub-par drinks, and eat food you don't want to taste, this is the place for you. read more

My wife and I came here on our honeymoon and had the best time! We loved that we could swim with dolphins right at our own resort, and the service was excellent. We ordered room service once and it was here within 30 minutes or less. We also had a little bit of flooding in our room due to rain, and they were up with a team to help, right when we called. we had several great experiences with the staff, and definitely recommend bringing one dollar bills and tipping them well while you are here. They deserve it. We especially loved Luis at L'Etoile and Angel at Fusion. The views are amazing, and the activities are endless. We loved our experience at Dreams! read more

If I could give less than a star I would. We have a group of 20 people, they made us pay 240 extra dollars for our room when we got there for an upgrade we already had booked, that was fun way to start. Booked in 2018 and was paid off, this place will lie and cheat you into things worse than any resort I've ever experienced. Next no robes or towels in the room they moved us into, it was not clean. Next the shower floods. In multiple rooms, it only mine but multiple others in your group and an entire floor above us. They say it's been a problem for years and they are working on it so they evacuate multiple people from their rooms as water leaks from the cieling. Next this drunk lady decided she deserves the spot my huge group had at the pool, when I asked her to calm down and suggested she find a different spot because we have 20 people, she swung at me. Mind you she was about 400 pounds and i'm 160. Next her blacked out husband swings at me. The videos are disturbing. She proceeds to choke my small 85 pound girlfriend for no reason at all. She picked the smallest person and assaulted and battered her. We grab security, I ask to talk to management, in hopes they can at least talk to the people who assaulted us. I showed management a video of the entire situation, it's going on world star and all over the internet. They take her away from us sit her at the bar and feed her shots, like she needed more shots after committing violent crimes.... You're going all over the internet Karen. Thanks for nothing dreams. I will never return and I will only tell people not to come. You will continue to get negative reviews from me and I will call to complain more than you can believe. Horrible place. I paid over 4 thousand dollars for trash food, lies in wine prices, (first night it was 115 and every night it went up, 123, 135, and 156. To get assaulted and not taken care of. Literally lies to my face and stole money from me as I wanted a bottle of wine with dinner a few nights. The only thing that was ok was the main workers serving us and bartenders were wonderfully hospitable, management was absolutely useless. I'm disgusted by the way we were treated. Incredible. My husband and I have been pretty loyal to AMR. I have experienced the lowest end (breathless) to the highest (Zoetry) . This is our first time in Cancun. I would never go to the Dominican Republic again. They spoiled us here. I love the restaurant choices. Tides had great shrimp quesadillas and Dolce had ice cream. Every international brand of alcohol was on hand. Mezes was our favorite restaurant. read more
