We had a great experience at Drift Kitchen & Bar. I was staying at Hutchinson Shores and met a friend for dinner. The ambiance is perfect, and the views of the ocean make for a special experience. We were served by Leelee, who did a great job. She was very playful which added to the experience. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings, and based on our likes, steered us in the right direction. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese, which was one of the best I have ever had. My friend had the pizza Rustica, which was awesome as well. I highly recommend Drift Kitchen & Bar for a romantic evening, special getaway, or just dinner with friends. Got there 10:50. "Breakfast til 11:00". We'll, kinda. No breakfast menu, just a buffet that lasts for 10 more minutes. Oh well, I'm here. Coffee was cold. Waffles were cold. And rock hard. Syrup in "hit syrup" dispenser was cold. Every wait staff person had slovenly demeanor. Coming back from buffet, carrying a plate with my waffle, approaching a corner, a member of the wait staff raced me to the corner! Management must REALLY SUCK. No training employees here. You know things are bad when the drinks and bread are the best part of your meal. We had such high hopes. Haven't been here since 2019 and it was excellent. We won't be going back again. We just got back from 5 days at Ledo Beach Resort, and we ate at a number of restaurants in the area, but far and a way the best meals we had were at Drift Kitchen & Bar (the Calamari and the Clam Chowder particularly merit shout outs). But the main reason I'm writing this review is that our server Brook, was fantastic. She took care of us two nights in a row (the first night while managing a large private event at the same time), and she was delightful. She was just present enough, while giving us space, we never felt rushed but she was always near by if we needed something. I would highly recommend Drift Kitchen & Bar even if you're not staying at the resort, but all the better if you can get Brook as your server. read more

Rude service. Unacceptable for any kind of hospitality business. Which includes restaurants. From the hostess to the waitress, to even a bus boy that literally walked into my mother in law, didn't apologize or say excuse me or anything, just kept walking. I got the drift salad with shrimp. The shrimp was salty and the consistency of bubble gum. The salad, otherwise was pretty good. Sad I wasted money on the protein. My mother in law got a margarita pizza with a very doughy middle. The edges were actually quite good, but nauseating in the middle. My husband got fish tacos. They were filled enough, but very flavorless. Drinks? Forget about it. Couldn't get a refill. We were randomly charged for calamari we didn't order or receive. That took an unnecessary amount of time to fix. Yep, I would not recommend. read more

We were hotel guests for three nights and visited the restaurant for many of our meals. Please retrain your host staff, every time the hosts were fairly rude but we looked past it. We wanted to end our trip with a nice breakfast before leaving. Walking through the patio and could see most tables open. The host told us there were no tables except one stand up outside and we let her know we could wait. Her only reply was sorry no other tables. She went about her business with us standing there. We were not in a hurry, she could have said we should have a table in 30 min. Would you like a coffee. Nothing. We left and went to Jan's a cute restaurant nearby with great service. read more

My wife and I went to dinner here tonight. We were promptly greeted by our server Miguel. The food was quite good, well prepared and flavorful and Miguel was the perfect server. We live in Jensen and love to dine at local restaurants with amazing atmosphere. I have been in the restaurant business for a looooonnngggg time! I very rarely write reviews. This is a BEAUTIFUL place..... That's it. We have been a couple handfuls of times with anticipation of food and service getting better. Truth is. We only come for the view and company. Sad. Very rude hostesses. We had a 7:30 reservation and arrived a little early. They told us they would seat us at our reservation time because waitresses were busy. They said to go to the bar and we did. We came back at 7:30 and the rude hostesses seated two couples ahead of us (that actually came in after us) and then told us they did not have a table for us inside. We told them we were not happy and would leave and they said "0k" not seeming to care a bit. We had previously given this restaurant a lot of business with family and friends. We will no longer go there to be treated so disrespectfully. We went to another restaurant and had excellent customer service and left a huge tip. The outside bartender was great. read more

We are locals. We have been coming here for several years, but lately there has ben a serious decline in service. Today was Mother's Day. We waited twenty minutes in line to get a table when we already had a reservation. We waited well over 1 hour for the food and the place was maybe half full. Our wait last time for food was also well over 1 hour. We thought it was just a bad day. The waiter/waitress could "own" this and say may I get you anything in the meantime, I really apologize for this unacceptable delay. Let me grab you an appetizer or let me refill your coffees, etc. Little gestures like this go a long way when people who represent the restaurant/hotel own the situation. The management really ought to take a look at the service provided. The waiters/waitresses are nice, but the kitchen and support staff have failed this establishment miserably and unacceptably. On Mother's Day, this restaurant has an OBLIGATION to try and get it right out of all days of the year. There are many other choices and when someone chooses a special day to be spent at your establishment, the expectation is that such place will perform. Drift Kitchen has failed miserably on multiple occasions. The only reason it gets 2 starts is because the view is beautiful and the quality of the food is good. read more

Beautiful location on the Atlantic Ocean situated in the Hutchinson Shores resort. Italian and seafood focused menu. The pasta is made in house. We started with the fonduta. Can't go wrong with melted cheese. The scallops are absolutely amazing, you cannot go wrong ordering these. Cooked to perfection. The scallops are served on risotto with a cream and herb infused sauce underneath. The pappardelle short rib dish was good. The sauce was a little bland. The short ribs were delicious. Very tender, not fatty, wish there were just a bit more, only four pieces in the dish. The blue crab encrusted grouper comes with the same cream and herb sauce as the scallops. The grouper is coated in a dip and lightly fried and then topped with blue crab. The crab was great. I'm always hesitant ordering crab because it can get to "fishy" tasting but this was great. The grouper however was a little dry. The rock shrimp spaghettini was our second favorite dish. The only draw back was when we asked our server to describe what spaghettini was he said it was smaller than spaghetti but the size of linguine. Just confused because I always though spaghetti was smaller then linguine? Our bill was $225 w/o tip. We also had a few glasses of wine. Overall I would give 3.5 but I can't do that with this scoring system. read more

This was our 2nd visit. Our first time was great, so we decided to bring friends that were visiting from out of town to experience what we did. Sadly it was just a total let down. I am pretty flexible and understanding, but when you have 4 out of 5 dinners that are so wrong, well...that's a little much. I also raved about it to my nephew & he took his wife there for their Anniversary dinner. They were not impressed as well. The menu while not huge has a pretty good variety of food to choose from. I choose the scallops which were outstanding. I would order this again and again. Our entrees, both pasta dishes, were very good. Caesar salads were also good. Unfortunately, our chocolate molten cake was mediocre. The pudding in the middle was hard, not soft and melty. But as good as food may have been, our early evening dinner started out poorly when we were seated in an area off the main dining room even though we had reservations, arrived on time and tables in the dining room empty. When we requested other seating, we were told the other tables had reservations for larger parties. The other tables seated 4 just like ours. The room was drafty, cold and our view blocked by a corporate event. Upon leaving, the tables we requested were still empty. Very, very disappointing. read more

The filet was mediocre at best, and the spaghettini was far richer than I was lead to believe (but hey, that's kinda subjective anyway). The chicken was excellent, as was the mushroom pizza. Our server was pleasant, attentive, and timely. My only weighty criticism, is with the rude hostess at the front desk. When we approached she didn't even look up. When we announced ourselves, awkwardly after about a minute, she still didn't look up...just asked if we had a reservation (which we did). She sat us under a strong A/C vent and when we asked for a table change, she met the request with an attitude. Hey Drift, might make better business sense to actually welcome people to your restaurant...first impressions and all. We had reservations for brunch for 4 of us yesterday, 1/21/2018. My friend had specifically requested a table by the window so we could enjoy the beautiful ocean view. We got there 10 minutes early and the hostess told us she had the best table for us which we were all excited about. Then I do not know what happened but she told us we were getting a booth which happened to be the best lol. When we were seated, the booth wasn't by the window at all. We weren't happy about this but the other option they showed us was a table with a big pole which blocked the view. Grudgingly we sat at the booth. The assistant server brought us a pot of coffee but as he was serving coffee, the pot was leaking water, all over the table and in front of my friend! At that time, I don't know if it was the manager but she came and told us she had a table for us by the window with a great view. We moved to the new table and were much happier. We got both the breakfast and the lunch menu. My husband who is a huge fan of crab cakes wanted the crab cake Benedict. He asked the server if the crab cake was fresh or canned. She said she had to check and returned telling us it was canned! We were all floored as here we are dining at a gorgeous restaurant, right by the water and they were serving crab cake out of a can! So he opted for the create your own omelet. Our friends also chose create your own omelet and coastal morning. I chose the crispy shrimp taco which I enjoyed. My husband and friend wanted a refill on their coffee and he kept looking for someone to refill it for them. The staff were standing and talking but no one was looking at our direction. Finally he caught the attention of the assistant server and asked her for coffee. She took the pot and completely disappeared! About 10 minutes later we saw her walking with a to go bag! It seems she completely forgot about the coffee request. Our server finally showed up and we asked her for coffee again which she brought it to us. The location of this restaurant is gorgeous but they still have a lot of kinks to work out especially in the service department to make it a success. The ambiance at Drift is amazing. The food is a bit inconsistent especially for the price. I had the pasta carbonara one day and it was amazing and then a few weeks later it was below average. I would rate this restaurant higher but due to lack of consistency I can only give 3 stars. I hope they can ensure a higher standard in the near future. read more

The food is very mediocre best part was dessert. 5 tiny donuts with 2 dipping sauces. However I made reservation for 6 pm explained I needed covered outside seating since my Dad and his dog needed to be in shade and my Dad had trouble walking I was told the covered tables were reserved for parties of 5 there were other small tables that could have been used to put together for our party of 4 plus dog who also gets meal.Restaurant manager needs to be retrained I would not recommend this place Such lovely location. read more
