Love this place! Stopped by for breakfast this morning and was not disappointed. I had the biscuits and gravy and it absolutely hit the spot. Nice little place away from crowds. Food was good. Service was bad. Yet we were rushed through our entire meal. I felt as though we were taking too much time to sit and eat and have a few drinks. The server was rude as to interrupt me twice in order to close our tab. Would not go back for that reason only. read more

Since this place just opened 8 days ago this was my 1st experience. They do have a parking lot which is nice. I sat at the U shaped bar and met a friend. Happy hour was until 6 - drinks only for now. Service was great but you could tell that everyone is new. We shared a few appetizers including the pickled shrimp which intrigued me. We also got the goat cheese platter and fried shrimp. And they were passing out food for people to try which was a nice touch and we scored a chicken salad sandwich. Everything was good and I realize that they are still new so I am sure it will only improve with time. The pickled shrimp was good and I loved the presentation. You got 4 shrimp in a mason jar. Unique. The shrimp was slightly over cooked. Same with the fried shrimp. The ladies next yo us got the tuna medallions and I wanted to jump over my friend and dig in. It looked amazing and perfectly cooked.I truly believe it will get better with time. I would definitely give it another chance. The staff was friendly and I liked the atsmosphere. read more

I am from Jacksonville Florida and have experienced great local restaurants serving a modern twist on classics and local favorites. Driftwood is EXCELLENT and I would highly recommend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The quality of food and service may be the best in the Virginia Beach Oceanfront neighborhoods. To start off we got seated by the friendliest sever Randy, he presented a nice smile and was overall a welcoming person. I purchased the grilled cheese with a side of penne pasta which had a great price and was delicious. The plating was very visually appealing and tasty. Food and service were great. We ate here twice during our vacation. I highly recommend crab cakes.

Local here. Listen up. Had some time to kill before an appt. I wanted a good Manmosa. (For those unfamiliar, it's a mimosa with a shot of vodka). I found myself with Lindsay as my bartender. She was very personable, greeted me immediately. She was in company of a coworker who was also very attentive. Service did not waiver even as other tables settled in. Lindsay informed me there would be pulp in my mimosa which I was happy to accept. She also asked me what type of vodka I would like. Which I was happy to express, Tito's. She informed me of the specials. I told her I would just be relaxing and I'd wave her down when ready. I ended up ordering the Caesar salad with blackened shrimp. I am a Caesar lover. It's a hit or miss usually. But this. This was a definite hit!!!! All their dressings are made in house. All. In the Caesar I could taste hints of sardines , egg whites, garlic and pepper. For those unfamiliar with this dressing those ingredients are what make it a good Caesar dressing. It was perfectly thick and covered the fresh unwilted lettuce perfectly. The shrimp were also perfectly seasoned. Sometimes blackened can be overdone and is too salty. But not here. I didn't even need old bay! I'm originally from Maryland and if anyone knows me...I'm all about the old bay. The shrimp were moist with a crisp and perfectly seasoned to compliment the Caesar salad. Since trying Driftwood Kitchen for the first time a month ago, we've had dinner there three times. The food is very good, the service is excellent. The crab soup is delicious. My husband loves the beef. The dessert choices vary and are all yummy. The atmosphere is relaxed with the background music generally being what Gen-Xers listened to as teenagers, which is a plus. read more

Service was great, but food quality, food portions and drinks were subpar. Had the soft shell crab Benedict special, biscuits and gravy, couple kids meals. Biscuit and gravy came with one biscuit. Side choice was bacon and only received 2 pieces. Was still hungry after finishing the plate. Order the social driftwood Bloody Mary and was very mid to say the least. Service was great - waitress came over multiple times to check on us but surprisingly never asked how the food was once she served it. We started with the hummus plank:loads of pita (which was excellent) and vegetables and fruit. Hummus (homemade) was meh. We've had hummus in many restaurants all over the world and this ranks low on the list. Convenient walk from Hyatt Oceanfront Sat right down. Real sweet tea like I like. Lots of options on menu. Their specials included Pan seared salmon over angel hair pasta which was best I've had. My husband had a New York Strip Steak that didn't need A1 sauce. Potatoes were excellent and the desserts? wow. Key lime had a layer of mousse on top. My husband has a cake that had choc chip cookie dough and marshmallow layers. I can't say enough. Service was great and looks like they all work together. It felt like a place locals would come. This was our first experience dining at Driftwood Kitchen in VA Beach. We came early evening on a Wed, so was not busy. Our server was great. I love the twist on the usual beach food. The goat cheese board was lovely and the pickled shrimp delicious and tangy. I had the blackened Tuna. I was little curious about the apricot Dijon sauce but also saw the lime butter that was served with the MahiMahi. The server was more than happy to bring the lime butter to sample. Both the apricot Dijon sauce and lime butter were spot on! Great job. The Caesar salad had a wonderful dressing, with a bite of garlic- just like I like it! The smashed red potato's were tasty, but a little heavy- as we had already enjoyed the light flavors of our meals.- but still good. The broccoli salad was delicious- creamy, crunchy, and sweet; a wonderful blend. If you are up for something different, check them out! You will not be disappointed. read more
