I only had the briefest of interaction with the food truck team, asking if we should order with them or the Big Tiki staff. They told us for food to go, with them, dining in, with Big Tiki. Great, that made sense. Through Big Tiki, I ordered their Wagyu Beef Smash Burger. I got it sloppy, not exactly sure what that meant, but it did come with cheese. I liked my burger, the meat was cooked perfectly well and topped with the usual lettuce, tomato, and some onion. It was juicy and kind of messy, just the way a burger should be. I particularly liked the fries, I think because they were salted. So many places seem to shy away from adding salt anymore. I also got from my wife a good sample of their Brussels sprouts grilled and tossed in a Thai chili sauce. They were exceptionally good. My food did come with an 18% service charge. I don't know if that would still happen if I ordered food To Go directly from the truck. I'll venture a guess and think it would.

And they were reasonably priced, but there was a "service charge" and the sodas must've been a little pricey because the total was a little more shocking than we anticipated. Still, good tacos. Quick and friendly service. No inside seating, but we were able to sit at the adjacent hotel's covered seating area where we ordered a couple of frozen drinks and sat under a strong fan.

Obviously reviewed here on Yelp and Google (I will cross post this review on both) this looked like it was going to be tasty and enjoyable "MAINE COURSE!!!" It was! I have no idea who many actual lobsters or tacos and sandwich or desserts we took down but it looks like most of the 30 plus at the meeting were eating and enjoying themselves. I got the signature Maine Lobster (Lobstah) Roll, with/cole slaw & bag of (of course) Cape Cod chips. The buttery bread/roll and the lobster were stunning!!!!! Not little lobster bisque scraps of lobster!!! This was tail and claw hunks o' meat!!! REALLY nice. Also I got the New England Clam Chowder (Chowdah) to make sure I tried their main items (and keep it under 6,000 calories for the meal!!!!) This was a GREAT chowder and so very authentic as you would expect! with "chunks of clam" and nice potato content, not a starchy potato mash soup. GREAT job. I am getting a big 16 OZ bowl next time! Finally (and I will admit here since I don't think any of the flotilla folks will see it) since I am the Commander of the base and host for this event, the owner threw in an authentic Steve's Snacks Bakery, Skowhegan ME cold and creamy Maine Whoopie Pie for dessert. My advice is not to order the rolls; they're tasty, but honestly, it's just bread, and if you only want to opt for one or two apps, it just seems like a bit of a waste, but that's just me. I don't eat seafood; my family loves it, so I ordered the veggie risotto. Dannnnng, it was so good, and it was extremely filling and enough to feed like five people. I took most of it home and got like two meals out of it. We were too full to really enjoy the dessert, but we split a cobbler three ways, and that one bite was sinfully good.

What I love the MOST about this place is you can place an order online ahead of time. Even better, you can place an order right from your beach chair and then meet at a specific meet point and they'll deliver it to you. A special note about Siesta Key Beach Drum Circle's that take place here at sunset Sunday nights. The sand pavilion serves up some unexpectedly good comfort foods. The main feature for me that I always plan to have whenever I'm in Sarasota is the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich. Fresh fish, great seasoning made to order perfect every time. The sandwich is served up on a great bun with lettuce, tomato and onion the condiments that you might care for are available at your request.
