There's really only one option here for me as a vegetarian, and I agree with other reviewers that the Black Bean Quinoa burger does fall apart easily, but it's still really good! I also love that the default fries are garlic parmesan. I normally always like to dip my fries in something like ranch or an aioli and to my surprise they don't have ranch (but I guess I should have noticed they don't have salads either). But the fries here are so good that they can be eaten on their own. I did order a side of their chipotle mayo just in case though, and that was very yummy! They also have sriracha ketchup (which I absolutely hate ketchup), but I would eat the sriracha ketchup any day! My fiancé loved the sour beer he had there (Key Brewing Copy Cat) and he said it was the best sour beer he's had and now sometimes he craves it. All in all, Dry 85 may not be a regular place for me (for lack of options), but I definitely wouldn't turn it down! read more

Wonderful spot. A mix of local service industry people, fancy foodies, cocktail enthusiasts, and people from all walks of life. The food is reliable in its consistency and quality. The employees are wonderfully kind and accommodating. The design and atmosphere attempting to be achieved here is executed wonderfully. The tap list is picked out excellently. The food and drinks are superb without the vibe coming out as pretentious, but more like a true small neighborhood spot in a bigger town. And let's not forget the whiskey selection. Who in this town had everything you need in one spot. If you ever wanted to try and bourbon too rare to find in stores, you know for sure it's here. And shout out to the bartender Billy for having the perfect answers/banter and professional skills and etiquette. When on Main Street this has been one of our go to places but our experience last night really changed our opinion of Dry 85. Prior to going out I called about a reservation or a phone ahead wait list, neither of which they do. It was suggested I call before we come to see if there was a wait, no there was not.... We got there 15 minutes later and there were 2 parties of 2 and 1 party of 4 head of our 4. We waited at the bar, in the meantime they had seated one party of 2 at a 4 top. A 5+ top opened up, it was cleaned and set, I asked if they would seat the 4 (2 adults, 2 young children) ahead of there. We were told the table was being saved for walk in's of 5 or more! The table sat empty for over 30 minutes, while there were several folks waiting for tables. 1 1/2 hours later they FINALLY sat our party of 4 at the 5 top that had been open for more than 30 minutes. When we got there we made the decision to wait expecting it to be within a reasonable time frame. Dry 85 had no consideration for it's waiting customers and we will have no consideration for Dry 85 again. read more

I came here a few months ago and am STILL telling people about it! Cool vibe, well decorated place, and we got great service. (It was only 4pm, but a rainy day, so it was actually pretty crowded already). The drink that I can't stop thinking about was the Spiced Bellini, which was just the right mix of sweet and tart. I also had a taste of the Western Passage, which was similarly well-made. Highly recommend the Warm Skirt Steak and Quinoa Salad - delicious flavors and a perfect portion size. The fried goat cheese croutons really made the salad - they should be offered as an appetizer! read more

They have high end liquors If you're an aficionado of finer whiskeys and bourbons this is the place for you! Generally, I like this place...I have been a fan since they opened and have been numerous times. Staff and beverages are top shelf. However, it is a bar and I would not send anyone there for dinner. It has bar food, executed with a certain amount of originality. However, tonight I shared their "charcuterie" appetizer and it was an absurd ripoff. Seriously, $6 per selection of meat and 3 meager pieces of each arrives on a lonely, uninspired board. Soppressata, very suspect that it was actually the italian variety, three slices for $6... that is culinary hubris. The second selection appeared to be polly-o string cheese wrapped-meat. The manager or chef (etc) needs to do some research and try again. I had "shrimp and grits" for an entree... now I am a good cook and have spent time on both sides of the counter but this was cream and everything else was an afterthought. Shrimp were undercooked and lacked flavor. Grits swimming in cream (not quite the consistency of sauce). Monday, off night? Not sure, but go for the drinks and the inspiring selection of bourbon and scotch, eat first. read more

Was on vacation last year in Annapolis, MD and we happened upon Dry 85 when we were walking up Main Street and we started getting hungry. We passed by one or two Asian-themed restaurants on the same street (one was Japanese,and I believe the other was Chinese if I'm remembering correctly), but once we walked up some more and saw the big doors/entrance way into Dry 85, we decided to go with it! Plus, we have Asian food all the time being from NYC, so we figured we'd try some good old American food and beer. AND IT WAS AMAZING! I remember getting the hand cut fries, a burger, and they surprisingly had one of my favorite craft beers ever - Sixpoint Righteous Ale! I'd only ever seen/been able to order that beer in a restaurant in Brooklyn before. So this restaurant basically made my day! Not only because of the Sixpoint, but because the food was impeccable! Plus we had two great servers who shared our table, one female and one male, and both were equally courteous and helpful. Oh and the ambiance inside is super nice! Like a mix of a classy sports bar and a tavern. We sat in a booth right in the center of the restaurant and I could see the bar right across the walkway from our table, and the bar looked very clean and beautifully set-up as well! They are literally the best in the world and how they have not been officially awarded that prize is beyond me. The bartenders are extremely friendly and can make some great drinks! This place is equally great for a casual lunch on a Monday with kids, than a fun weekend date night. Food is fantastic and you'll want to come back for their cocktails and extensive bourbon list! Most recently, my party and I enjoyed great appetizers (watermelon mint gazpacho and fried green tomatoes) and excellent entrees including well executed BLT, juicy fried chicken sandwich and the best marinated skirt steak quinoa salad I have ever eaten ( with yummy fried goat cheese bites to die for!). First time to eat here, 5:45 p.m. on a recent Saturday. The three stars are for two reasons. The decibel level was off the charts and although my husband and I were sitting at a small table, we were unable to hear ourselves talk. The second reason is that I ordered a mixed drink, Apple Smash? and it tasted very bitter and the scent of the drink was likened to an old candle. I asked our server if I could exchange the drink and she told me I could order a different drink but I would still need to pay for the first one. Disappointing considering the drinks were $12.00 each. She took the first drink away and it was quite some time before the new drink, a pear/gin drink, appeared. It had a much better taste. The food was excellent. I had the steak/barley soup which was flavorful and satisfying. In addition, I had the cheese grits which were so fluffy they were like a souffle. The taste was a bit plain but a touch of salt perked it up and I finished every bite. The brussel sprouts were served crisp with bacon, feta cheese sprinkles and dried cranberries. This dish was tasty but I would suggest a half serving at half the price ($8.99). My husband had a huge cheeseburger that came with slaw, Bar B Q pork, and bacon, all inside of the bun on top of the meat. He was happy with his choice. I would return for the soup and cheese grits but not during a crowded Happy Hour (no discounts on Sat. evenings) time. read more

So many drinks, so little time! But our expert bartender made the experience exciting and fun. There's plenty of straight bourbons here, of course. But it's fun to order new, mixed drinks and the bartenders are genuinely interested in introducing those to you. They've got a couple whiskey's aging in a barrel off to the side that they serve. After reading the reviews to just come here for drinks I feel like a dummy. Waited for 45 mins for a table that was supposed to take 20.. Waited super long for seafood Mac and cheese app that had ONE shrimp on it and was super disappointing for 12$. Thought burgers would be safe but they were over cooked and dry. Service was so so and food was Lame. My old fashioned was delicious.. Drinks only my friends! Bummed out because I live around the corner from this place and we have tried it several times. Came for lunch, loved the burger the chef knew what he was doing. Would like to say the same for the management.Ordered a slightly dirty martini and yes I know that beer and bourbon they excel in but I drink neither. My martini came in a wine glass and three olives for which I was charged for.Never have I been charged for olives before this is a joke but if you are going to charge for the olives please make sure they are cocktail olives and not the baby olives that you charged me for you should rethink this its a joke.Might come back but I'm going to find out how many other places charge for garnish lmao read more

Stopped in here with my wife and another couple last night. Every bar on main street was packed but this place had quite a few open tables and spots at the bar. It didn't take long to figure out why this place wasn't busy. After walking in the door we were "greeted" by some guy named Mike that I think was the namager. He grunted something about the empty tables being dirty and that we old he to wait. We attempted to get a drink at the bar but the hipster bartender was too busy showing his tattoo to some 2 something girl to take our order. A couple of minutes later (still hadn't been able to order our drinks) Mike came over to us and literally lectured us because he had cleaned the table and we weren't there waiting to immediately sit down. I am a local and see bars come and go all the time on Main Street. I'm surprised Dry 85 has made it this long, but I am fairly confident it won't be around much longer unless they drastically overhaul their staff. read more

House burger with bacon had flavorless beef and dry, rubbery bacon. Our party's blue cheese burger's beef was also lackluster and its blue cheese had traces of jalapeño. Manager's response to our observations was "nobody's ever had a problem with our burgers before." Astonishingly we were not supplied with cutlery or napkins. No toilet paper in both bathrooms. We had a fabulous time this weekend when we visited Dry 85 on several occasions during our trip to Annapolis. The bartender Billy was great and very knowledgeable about bourbon, whiskey and beer. My boyfriend enjoyed trying the rye flight and thought it was a good deal. The brunch on Saturday was delicious - everything on the menu looks good and I highly recommend the BLT! The Bloody Mary's were also excellent - a must-try. The late night crowd is also lively and fun so I would also recommend it if you're looking for a night cap. Arrived around 7:00p on a Saturday and didn't have to wait to be sat (there were only 2 people in the party). I got the impression that they were short staffed because our waitress was running around all night. My filet was perfectly cooked and the house steak sauce on top of it was delicious, as were the grilled asparagus and scalloped potatoes. My friend ordered a burger and it was huge. This review would have been worse if it wasn't for our sever saving his poor excuse for a customer service oriented bartender. After a long sunday of dealing with the crowds at other places a few people had recommended this spot to us considering i love cocktails and my better half loves thoughtful meals so we thought it to be the best of both worlds. With us both being bartenders are first thought is to always sit at the bar. Its nothing against a table but your BEST server should always be behind the bar. We walked into a crowded room but manageable crowd for a sunday night. The place is small (12 person bar / and maybe 14 tables). We approached the bar that was staggered 2 by empty seat by 2 by empty seat. As a bartender i would never let this happen and more so i would accommodate or at LEAST try to accommodate people who were trying to sit at the bar. She walked over and said what can i get you.. which after standing confused about this place for 5 minutes said a seat so we can eat? With this place also not having a host it left us to kinda be in no mans land when the bartender seemed quite lost. She responded that there were no seats at the bar and after pointing to the three empty seats between the 2 couples she pretty much just shrugged her shoulders so we started to walk away. LUCKILY the server who was on pointed to a booth and said its seat yourself and I'll be right with you guys. I was pretty irate after this experience and never got his name but he really saved it. To start their Bourbon/Whiskey list is Above Average. I say this because its probably one of the better lists i have seen but in terms of pricing WOW. I mean i know what these bottles are retail and i also know what they are wholesale. Base Pappy is honestly a 40 dollar bottle that retails for 150-200. Needless to say $125 for 3 2oz Pours was a little above my head. Also to list things on your menu and then put NFS (Not for Sale) for the price just kinda pissed me off. It was arrogant in the way of look what we have but you can't have it. My next knock would be the design of their cocktail list in general. I understand the thinking of "Pre-Prohibition Drinks" but bourbon should not be used to mix. Its my opinion and its something i just don't do. I use Rye primarily in my Old Fashions and Manhattans and so forth. I forget what drink i had to be honest b/c they made it with bourbon.. I had asked for Rye instead.. and it definitely balanced the drink out but alas it was something also that wasn't memorable as i kinda just let it sit there and water down while i enjoyed the food. The Tuna Crostini was good. $11 dollars good. EH? If it was 4 or 5 pieces i would have been satisfied. With working at a sushi place and knowing what the price of good fish costs i can honestly say they are making their money here. It definitely was an "Annapolis" sized portion. We then got a Meat and Cheese plate with in house pickles. They got a point for the pickles. Nothing more to say but they were good. The Proscuitto wrapped Mozzarella was good and with the addition of olives, nuts, and the pickles it made the $6 price tag worth it. Finally for our entree we had the Ribs with the Blueberry Sauce. The Ribs were executed well. The sauce didn't have much blueberry to it but it was good. I had decided to go with this primarily for the sauce and like i said it was good but based on the description it was a little bit of a let down. Overall we may be back to try some more food but unfortunately for this cocktail lover I'll probably shy away from anything behind the bar unless maybe it seems like they get it together. read more

If you are looking for bourbon or beer, excellent spot. Had about 10 nce craft beers on draft. If you are looking for good food, its a pass. The blue and fig burger w/truffle fries was quite good. Everything else was not. Fried pickles were fairly tastless and the fried green tomatoes had even less taste. A fruit balsamic sauce made the tomatoes taste like some kind of breakfast item. Finally after a long wait, the opening of Dry 85 arrived. Prior to arriving I viewed the menu & was excited to see scotch flight tastings. A bit on the pricey side & more if a tasting sample then a flight since it's less than 2oz. However, they provide a great selection of scotches, wine, and craft beer on tap. Top of my list on the food was the burgers. Perfectly cooked over a charred grill with toasted buns & great ingredients. They offer more than your typical burger. Loved the bacon burger. The fries that accompanied were nicely made with garlic & herbs. I wasn't so much of a fan for the shrimp & grits, I personally found the dish to be quite large for the richness of the sauce. As a preferred bourbon cocktails girl I was a bit disappointed at the Cherry smash on the menu. I found it to be very sweet, a bit watered down & not balanced. I am excited to try their advertised "coming soon" Bacon Brunch! Annapolis can never have enough brunch options. read more

Dry 85 is a really cool space with a great drink and food selection. It's got a dark, underground vibe. I've heard great things about the food, especially their brunch. Today I tried the black bean and quinoa burger. It looked like there was cheddar on it and not pepper jack, and there could have been more avocado. But it was a solid, house-made patty and I really appreciated it. They took the time to really toast the bun-the edges were slightly blackened, which was awesome! I might be too easy to please... Their regular fries are actually really really good, and I don't know if I'm grateful they don't give you too many or if I secretly wanted a steakhouse chain portion of them. The sirracha ketchup comes with them. There was a little heat to it, but that didn't stop me from using the fries as excuses, ahem, vessels to stuff my face with ketchup. I did get a good taste of the andouille soup which tasted thick, fresh, homemade and spicy. The mushrooms were a nice touch. My fiancee had the shrimp and grits, but he said they were bland. I wouldn't know, I'm no southern food connoisseur. So it seems they do solid bar fare, and could work on the entrees if they're going to compete with the other seafood places of Main St.. I noticed they had barbeque on their menu...maybe that could become their niche. read more

We came here several times since it was first open. It is one of a very few restaurants we'd consider eating in downtown Annapolis. Staff is always friendly, and drinks are great (I don't drinks, but my husband loves their selections). We had family dinner here yesterday after not visiting the restaurant for about a year. Staff is still very friendly, drinks are still good according to the rest of the family (wine and beer). Food was inconsistent though. We started with wings (bourbon bbq and pomegranate), they were great, always love them. I also got a bowl of chicken chowder, which I had before, and it was as delicious as I remember. Some people enjoyed their warm steak quinoa salad and blue cheese fig burger (two items that are widely loved by family and friends over the years). My husband also ordered fried chicken 12 for the first time, and the chicken was done perfectly. Then here comes the inconsistent part. 98% of the time when I'm here, I order honey glazed grilled salmon salad. It was always perfect, until yesterday. The fish was slightly fishy because the gray/darker part between skin and meat was not cut off completely. For salmon, that's going to make it fishy... I could have removed it myself, but that's also where the "glaze" was. I did not finish my salad which rarely happens. Also, my brother in law's medium rare filet mignon was not really medium rare, nor was it close to medium. He was too embarrassed to say anything (he thought it was mean to do so) but my husband mentioned (nicely) to our server and the server offered to have the steak redone. The second steak came out great. We were later comped a warm apple pie which was freshly done in the house, with perfect crust, though I personally thought there was slightly too much nutmeg that was a bit overpowering. We're guessing maybe the inconsistency came from the fact that it was a week day night that maybe some kitchen staff might be off? read more
