I was running late for a appointment I set for a friend; I called them to let them know and they were more than happy to make the changes. Though the appointment was for my friend to celebrate her birthday, she had a wonderful time. You get a free head and shoulder massage if it is your birthday! This could be a me time, girls day out, or just a day out, I would recommend this place for all above! This used to be one of my favorite places to go but now it has gone downhill terribly. Most of the stylist don't know what they are doing and are not comfortable with this type of blow dry. I expect when I pay to have my hair done, for someone to get it bone straight and for the texture to be silky smooth. I can say with confidence this hasn't happened at all in the last 6-8 months of the services I've received from them. To add insult to injury, I have sewin extensions and I have discovered that they now charge an additional $20 for a wash and blow dry. Please note, they don't charge extra for beaded or fused on extensions....just mine. Hmmmmmmm.....I could understand if there were extra work involved or if there were something possibly wrong but this just seems to be a way to drive up cost. $65 for a bad blow out is not ideal. This afternoon I decided impulsively to get a blowout at Drybar. It was delightful. Worth every cent of the $35 plus tip, and that's coming from someone who thinks about treat-yo-self purchases in terms of how many groceries I could purchase with the money spent. (And who identifies not at all with folks who spend a lot of time in Buckhead.) Before I heard of Drybar, I had no clue what a "blowout" was. For most of my adult life, and until recently, I've had very short hair. Now I have shoulder-length hair, but my laziness and my ignorance of how to do hair persists. Getting my hair washed soothingly and my hair blown dry meticulously was pedagogically instructive. Hair really does look better if you blow dry it section by section. Who knew! On a scale of 1 to 10, I usually register my "internal sense of fabulousness" at about an 11. (Don't worry, I know that there's a gap between perception and reality.) After my experience at Drybar, I was rocking about a 14 with my voluminous hair! Logistical hints for potential first-timers: you don't need an appointment, but you can call and make one for a same-day appointment. When you're offered a beverage by the receptionist, the first one is free, even if it's a mimosa. Drybar does hair for both white folk and black folk. Drybar is located on the side of the street opposite Whole Foods, and it's free to park in their lot. My only disappointment was that customers aren't seated in front of a mirror. Everyone else was tapping and scrolling away on their iPhones, but I wanted to watch my stylist work her magic. Five to seven stylist chairs face another five to seven chairs across a partially open space. If one is on an end chair, as I was, you face directly the other chair across the open space. If one is seated in the middle, you face a room divider/bookcase on which an artful display of hair products and a flat-screen TV are perched. My 2nd time at drybar and I have yet to be disappointed. At first, I was skeptical since I naturally have thick nappy/curly hair. I made sure to inform them of my hair type so I was bemused when the white hair dresser came to escort me. She did a great job detangling my hair and applying the right amount of heat. This place is a dream. From the moment you walk in you already feel good about yourself. It is a genius concept- no haircut, no color...just wash and style. Sometimes you just want to look cute but dont want to dye or cut your hair. Drybar gives you the ability to do that. Also- I have very long hair, so I have always have to deal with the additional cost for having long hair. Here that isnt an issue- no matter the length, or if it is curly, wavy or straight, $45 and you come out looking great. I was up visiting my best friend ffor a girls weekend in Atlanta and I read great reviews on Drybar Atlanta so when I was able to get an appointment on Saturday night at 640 I jumped on the opportunity. We had dinner reservations at Lure at 8pm so we figured that if we arrived early we could get out early. We arrived around 620pm and the place was packed. Advice for the establishment would be to add additional seating in the front of the store. My friend and I had to stand with our drinks in one hand and our clutches in the other.We both decided that we were going to get the Cosmopolitan. I went back first for my wash and the bowls are pretty uncomfortable, possibly since the girl that I got did not put a towl behind my neck. She washed my hair and I could feel water going down the back of my dress. Time passed as she dried my hair. I looked down at my watch and it was 7:50. We weren't going to make our dinner reservation. We called and they were able to push the reservation back. As my girl finished I was pretty happy and surprised that she was able to get my hair to keep a curl. I would have wanted her to put more hairspray on though, but I think she was being rushed as many more girls were waiting in the front. When I went to pay for the both of us (it was my treat), the receptionist apologized again for the delay and since we were within the 6-7 timeslot our blowouts including tip was taken care of by HBO. I would not recommend this place. I think the concept it a great idea. But the place felt so chaotic and rushed when I went. I had an 11:45 appointment on a Saturday, which I understand my be a busy time, but knowing that, they should accommodate for the weekend rush. I hardly had time to choose which style I wanted before I was rushed off for my shampoo. The girl offered me a glass of water but when I got to my chair she must have forgotten, because it never came until half way through when someone else handed me one. The entire time I felt like i was being rushed, My girl never introduced herself, she tugged way too hard at my hair, and I would consider myself having a hard head, and my hair was still wet in the back when I walked out. Update- it's been a few days since Drybar publically responded to my review, asking me to contact them. I emailed them on Monday morning, provided my phone number, and I have yet to receive a response. +++ For the most part, my experience was okay. My stylist was really sweet, and got me ice when I told her I got my head right before I got there. I felt a little rushed, but that's the business model. My blowout got compliments, and I felt really good while I was in the chair. What made me not like my experience was when I was leaving - the girl who checked me out did some Liz Lemon-esque eye rolling when she told me to have a good rest of my weekend. I truly do try to be respectful and kind to everyone on the other side of the counter when I'm at a business, so for a woman to roll her eyes at me after I looked at pictures of her dogs - I walked out with my feeling hurt, and honestly I don't think I'd ever have interest in returning. I even made sure to check that I tipped more than 20% and I did, so I genuinely don't understand what I did to deserve the mean girl treatment. This was supposed to be a chance for me to indulge a little and be some "me time", and instead all I took away was that last interaction. Great concept: blowout for all hair types and styles (except a formal updo) for a flat fee of $35 which includes the shampoo service as well. When you arrive and check in, you are offered a complimentary beverage including soda, bottled water, even wine or Champagne while you wait for a stylist to become available. I had a morning appointment and waited about 10 minutes. It is possible to request a stylist of your choosing, of course, but as I was a first timer, I did not make a specific request. As soon as I was greeted by the stylist, she showed me the 'look book' with various styles in it in order to get the conversation moving in a productive way, but customers are not limited to the exact styles in the book. Appointments last from 30-60 minutes depending on individual hair thickness, length and overall difficulty to style. My results were pretty good in that my thick, long, naturally quite wavy hair was whipped in to shape before a formal event and it looked great leaving the salon, but I should have insisted that the stylist spray it to set it as it fell pretty flat within a few hours, which is very rare for my hair. A great blowout should last at least 24 hours in my book, and preferably 48, but that was not my experience. Because I like the concept, fair pricing and the place (including the iPhone chargers at each drying station!), I will try it again, but insist on less styling product while it is blown dry, but make sure it is sprayed in place! read more

I got the worst blow out of my life here! I have been to dry bars across the country and have never been disappointed like this. I was in town due to being evacuated from Florida and have one row of extensions so I thought a blow out would be nice. I got there and told my stylist I wanted beachy waves. I don't have very much hair so it should be easy enough. To being with the stylist didn't even use heat protectant on my hair. She curled my hair with a straightener. I have never been tender headed but she pulled on my hair so hard the entire time she dried and curled it. I have never felt pain while having my hair styled! She also charred the shit out of my ends. I never use heat on the ends! Beachy waves always have straight ends.. so it was completely unnecessary. Lastly she put so much hair spray in my hair and told me at the end "I'm not going to do anything else because they will fall." She didn't even flat iron my baby hairs. I left with a head full of crunchy tight COLONIAL looking curls. I brushed It out immediately and they wouldn't fall at all! My hair was however coming out in the handfuls probably due to how hard she had pulled on it. I was scared my hand tied extensions were going to come out. I had to go home and start from scratch. I've been here twice and both times were very enjoyable. I don't usually get my hair done so for special events, I decided to indulge myself and selected Dry Bar. I got checked in and only had to wait just a moment until my stylist came to greet me, Theri. She was friendly and accommodating. The wash was very comfortable and the blow dry was comfortable as well. I am not tender headed but I do appreciate when a stylist is gentle. My service felt good, there was no pulling or any discomfort. Theri listened to me when I explained that I wanted the Old Hollywood waves, but for it to be more touchable and silky. I was very happy with the final look and today at work, I've received a few compliments on my hair, which is now in soft waves. The only thing I noticed that I would change would be that I did smell a little of the "burnt hair" smell, as a previous reviewer noted. I love the smell of their products and how touchable my hair feels, so perhaps it's just extra/leftover product on the styling tools (that's happened to me before at home). I came back again after the last time. I am again disappointed. I can wash and style my hair in under an hour. That includes hair extensions. To get the point across I sat in dry bar for over 2 hours with at least 4 different people doing my hair at different points in time. I asked for extensions to be put in and a simple half up half down look. When it was over I had to restyle it after I left because I have incredibly fine hair. I said I Need lots of hair spray or it will not hold. Again, it fell. I am just upset because 75 dollars is a good amount of money and I wanted it to be no stress. I was in a wedding that day and I could not understand why 2 hours is what is necessary. I felt incredibly stressed because we didnt have alot of tine to get ready. I just recently moved near Buckhead and Drybar popped up as the closest place to get a blowout. Admittedly, I was skeptical to try out this location because of some of the recent reviews. Let me just say, I'm so glad I didn't let them scare me away! I had an absolutely perfect experience here. From beginning to end, I could not find any reason to be unhappy. My stylist, CoCo, was knowledgable and lighthearted. She assessed the length and cut of my hair and recommended what style she thought would compliment it the most, yet still respected and made me feel secure in the one I chose. Furthermore, she explained each tool she used, which I particularly enjoyed because I already love Drybar products and adding more to my routine. My hair looked amazing and I felt so confident going into an anniversary dinner my boyfriend had been planning for weeks! Better yet, the style lasted for nearly four days. Almost more importantly, however, was the atmosphere in the salon. Stylists were laughing together, singing, and complimenting one another's clients. Everyone looked content and as if they were enjoying their time there to the fullest. Anyway, this will probably be my home for future styling needs. They even offer a monthly package for people like me who are addicted to blowouts that includes two a month and a percentage of products. read more

I have been going to Drybar for years, and have frequently visited the Buckhead location. I asked for a southern comfort. I told the stylist my hair doesn't hold well, so please use product and I would love to have curls in my hair so please feel free to use all the products. She seemed nice at the beginning, she made it a point that I was her last client. She gave my decent volume but no curls, I look like George Washington on my birthday. When she spinned me around to show me the finished product I asked about the curls, she said well you asked for a southern comfort there's no curls. I was like oh maybe there was a miss communication but I asked for curls can you add some. Said no she had to go, so frustrated I said it's fine I'll do them myself, then walked away without even putting product in my hair. I called out to her and asked if she could at least put hairspray in because again I told her my hair doesn't hold. She came back sprayed a smidge of hairspray and walked away. Incredibly rude. You're in customer service you should be giving the same attention to your first client as your last. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the salon completely comp'd my visit and another stylist stayed and volunteered to fix my hair. I will not be returning to Drybar Buckhead. read more

Let me start by saying that the young lady that serviced me had exceptional customer service skills. Unfortunately, I experienced the worst blowout ever. My hair was lifeless and the products used weighted my hair down. My hair looked better before than after. I am an African American woman transitioning from relaxed to natural hair (about 3-4 inches new growth with hair falling shoulder length and worn in the Asymmetrical bob style). My hair in its natural form is very manageable. Aveda Salon services and maintain my cut however since my transition I've gone to the dominican salons for the wash and blowout however decided to try Dry Bar after reading the reviews. I was VERY disappointed with my results and ended up having to return to the dominican salon not even 24 hours after leaving Dry Bar to have done what Dry Bar claimed they were good at doing. They claim to service ethnic hair types but if my experience was an indication of this, I strongly suggest my sisters, regardless the curl pattern, stay away. Don't waste your money! So me and my nappy hair survived the DryBar experience. And I must say a day later, my hair still looks nice, soft and silky, a tad dry from the heat, but it's still straight which as we nappy sistas know is the whole point of getting a blowout. Mind you, I have the worst kind of natural hair, the African tight curls version, so for them to get it bone straight that is, a feat in and of itself. The experience was very nice. They didn't budge at all when I presented them with my kinky do. They took it all in stride and acted like they were up to the task. In me I was feeling some slight trepidation, thinking it was all a front but as it turns out it was not. They sure do know their stuff over here and the scalp massage was so soothing. I am taking away one star for two things - lack of towel and cape to cover my clothes as they worked on the hair. I had to pat myself down once we were done. That was not cool. As someone with long and thick hair, I can tell you that there isn't. And since I only wash my hair twice a week, the services that Drybar provides are pretty phenomenal for me. The set up is nice and light, although with all of the dryers going in such close proximity it can get very loud and very hot. I'd recommend a few fans throughout, especially in the summer months. I love that you can make an appointment easily online, and I love the convenient location to all things Buckhead. Service is very friendly, although the "suggested tip" signs everywhere were a little off-putting. I know how much to tip, y'all. I promise. Despite the ridiculous amount of brushing and curling and spraying and primping, my hair didn't hold the curl at all. When I do hot rollers at home it stays for days so I'm not sure what went wrong, but I'm not necessarily complaining. I'll just get their "signature" straighter blowout next time I come in. This place is so super cute. First of all the "buttercup yellow" isn't in your face yellow and makes the aesthetic of the interior of the salon really fun/bright/uplifting. They provide complimentary beverages like wine, coffee, water, etc upon entering the salon. The coffee I had was actually really good, too which was a really nice surprise... it's the little things ya know? The service was great. The woman who helped me was new, but she was super sweet and did a great job. PLUS BONUS: My blowout lasted almost 48 hours without dry shampoo (and I have really oily hair, so this is more than double the normal length my hair can take without additional products like dry shampoo)!!! The products: SMELL AMAZING, are all cruelty-free and most of them are vegan too! But seriously, they smell SO good. My favorite was the texas tea volumizing spray - it smelled phenomenal. I also stared at the hair wand they had on display too. A little pricey for me to just drop $ on the spot, but it was beautiful, and is going on my wishlist. Totally. Get. It. This place is fabulous...where else can you go where you can make an appointment online and choose from a bunch of times, last minute...then get there and they actually take you ON TIME, finish from wash to dry in a guaranteed 45 minutes or less...AND...the best part is they give you bubbly to sip on like the fabulous princesses we are all while you get your hair DID. Love it and can't wait to go back. I had Lucy & she was sweet - but they all looked like they knew what they were doing (again, particular hair chick speaking here...huge compliment to all the stylists!) Oh and P.S.: its only $35! So this picky, NYC girl, doesn't mind paying that considering a damn good blow out and amazing service. After my first trip to Drybar I know I'll be going back. It's not only because of the complimentary wine, awesome space and super-friendly staff but also due to all the other ladies getting their hair styled. Everyone there is so nice! At most salons there's this unspoken rule of not talking to the people next to you, but hell ladies its a bar! We're drinking, watching chick flicks, noshing on Sweedish fish and having a damn good time! I chose the Cosmopolitan to feel fa-la-la-fabulous for my company holiday party. My stylist did a great job curling all the fine layers of my hair. Lauren "Hot Wife" P was looking fine when she left Drybar. The only reason I can't give Drybar five stars is because my hair fell flat within five hours of my visit to the salon. Granted I was the silly one who booked an appointment at 3 p.m. when my party wasn't until 8, but I had to re-curl my hair before heading out for the evening. Drybar is great for girls whose hair can hold curls for more than a few hours especially for the ladies who like to go for two days without washing their hair. I think my only real goal in life is to have enough money to be able to hire someone to wash, dry, and style my hair for me every day. In the mean time, dry bar serves as an effective and satisfying substitute for my large and lofty dreams. Not only did I think my stylist did a great job, she was fun to chat with and loved telling me how much she loved my hair (Nope, I'm not above paying someone to shower me with compliments). I was greeted at the door with a glass of cucumber water and small vanilla cake bites. Things like complimentary flavored water and tiny food make me feel like I'm Taylor Swift at the VMA's or one of Oprah's friends so I was immediately obsessed with the atmosphere. My stylist welcomed me and we went straight back to get my hair washed. She constantly checked in with me and was happy to comply with any and all hair related requests I made. People came in and out in waves and it was surprisingly not jammed packed for a Saturday afternoon. They were playing solid tunes and a random old movie which I found charming. I opted for the Straight-Up which is the "signature blow out" out with volume and a bit of curl. I was totally satisfied with my hair when I left. I felt like my stylist knew what she was doing and was happy to be doing it. She put a bit of hair spray in my hair but I found it relatively in-effective (I have thick longish hair and it needed something a bit more serious). That being said- next time I would just ask for more spray or one with more hold. I spent the subsequent day running errands and then headed to an outside wedding that night. My hair lasted for at least half of the festivities which I can guarantee was way longer than if I had done it myself. I had a fantastic experience at DryBar! I lived within 4 different locations when I was in NJ, but never seemed to find the time to make it in for an appointment. I'm totally hooked. I got my hair done again today & I'm in love. It's a tiny bit staticy (totally a word), but that's just because of the weather. I've already gotten several compliments. Also, they have berry infused water that looks like pink wine. Way to make me feel fancy! read more

Once again I walk out with flat hair. The stylists are inconsistent and you don't always get who you request. It's like playing russian roulette. This time I ordered the same style as every time before, straight up with lots of body at the roots. My hair comes out flat, mostly due to my stylist constantly touching my hair. She added tons of curls with the iron in an attempt to give it more body which didn't work. She then proceeded to try to add a ton of hairspray for lift. I had previously mentioned I didn't want much product because it weighs it down. She didn't ask what side I part my hair on so correcting that made it look weird. In a last ditch effort she offered to tease my hair.... I declined. She did offer to have another stylist fix it but by this time the hour was up and I had a party to get to. I had informed her I was on a tight deadline before. Then customer service hung up on me. Overall there are better places to get a blowout in Atlanta and even if it may be a touch pricier at least they are consistent and stay put. I ended up running a brush throughout all of my hair and it was in a ponytail by the end of the night. read more
