Excellent concept and very good execution. Stopped by for a visit at lunch today. I was in and out in an hour, which for my length and volume of hair was great. Initial note - they take walk ins and appointments. The appointments are set for every thirty minutes, but, based on my experience and that of friends you are likely to be there at least an hour unless you have really short hair. So plan accordingly. I have also heard they get really crowded on Friday nights, so you might want to make an appointment then. I made an appointment for lunchtime, but it was not crowded and they were easily able to take walkins. I received a proper blowout - which means minimal product (they only used a root booster and MorrocanOil) and serious time with that blowdryer to make it sleek and straight. Side note: They use high quality product and shampoo/conditioner here. The stylist was super friendly and the atmosphere super cute and comfortable. I also really enjoyed the fact that no one commented about my long, thick hair, and they did not upcharge me for said hair (like most salons do). I docked it one star because although I asked for a modified "SouthernComfort" style (aka lots of volume but no shirly temple curls), about an hour or two later there was no more volume. This by no means has turned me off the experience though, and I have already purchased a six pack and am planning on coming back before the holidays. Update 9/23/16: Nicki (the regional manager, I believe) called to apologize for my bad experience with their in-home blowout service (see previous review below) and offered a free blowout. I was able to finally take her up on her offer and I couldn't be happier. It's been several months since we spoke but she remembered me and my situation and called the buckhead location to be sure that my service was covered. My blowout was great and I will definitely be back! On a side note, they no longer offer their in-home blowouts. I'm assuming it was due to booking issues, but whatever the reason, the in-store blowouts are great! And the complementary champagne isn't too shabby either :) Original review: Tried calling several times to book a "blow on the go" (where they come to you) and no one would ever call me back- I started calling Sunday morning about a Tuesday morning appointment. When I called for a third time Monday afternoon, I spoke to an in-store representative; she was unapologetic and said that it can take up to 48 hours for someone to call back even though the appointment time that I wanted was less than 24 hours away. It's understandable that they need to reach out to try to find a stylist, but they should at least call you to let you know that they got your message/request and are working on finding someone rather than leaving you in the dark. It appears that if they cannot find a stylist, then they never call you back to let you know that they cannot help you- hence I'm still still waiting for a call back and it's Monday evening. So disappointed! Last two visits were a flop (literally). My daughter and I both went twice in the last two months prior to big events. I wasted $70 plus tip both times. Stylists did not know how to add volume and/or style hair. The stylist that did my daughter's hair did not use any products at all and it showed shortly after she left the stylist's chair. I had a gift certificate that I'd been waiting for the right time to use. 2 years later I finally used it! So glad I did. The mimosa I had was perfection. I went in on a Friday around 12:15 and was immediately greeted with high energy people and music. Erin did my blow out and Mai Tai. She was super sweet and we chatted the whole time. So I have heard about drybar for years (I live in LA) but had not used it until my wedding weekend in Atlanta in March '12. Smart move! They made me look fabulous two very important days in a row! On Friday I came in for something more casual and down for my rehearsal dinner, and my stylist (friendly redhead) talked me through some ideas and I left with some volume to keep my fine hair pumped all night, without any sort of look that smacked of being styled. Saturday morning, wedding day, my mom had booked appointments for me, her, and my bridesmaids as a treat. We had thought it was going to be kind of a party, but we were each individually treated just like we were there for any other appointment. No worry, as the bride, the most important thing was how I looked, and my two stylists made me a fabulous "uptini." I wish I could remember their names, especially the one in charge. She had blonde hair and a cute hat and used to be in sales, but she is now the up-do specialist at drybar and loves what she does! I am not very bridezilla-y so came in without any ideas or pictures on how I wanted my hair done for the big day. She was sort of shocked by this, but I figure she's the expert, she knows what my long, fine hair can and can't do. Well, I guess she was an expert, because she made me look gorgeous. It was a very sophisticated up-do without being too much or too rigid, or have some sort of weird shape form the side that would look funny in pictures. I was so happy! And I was even happier 12 hours later when after a day of nerves, marriage, and dancing my face off, it still looked great! Thank you! The only reason I can't give drybar Atlanta 5 stars is the person at the front desk (short brown hair) that I unfortunately had to interact with on two separate occasions. She had zero people skills, especially for someone helping a customer with such an exciting occasion (which she was told about every time). She would be doing something else on the computer while talking to us when we were booking an appointment, did not offer me or anyone else in my party anything to drink, and, on my actual wedding day (you know, the day you are more stressed than any other day in your life), which she was fully aware of, she came over and was very short with me for two of my bridesmaids being late. "Where are they?" she wanted to know. "Usually we cancel appointments after 15 minutes. I am giving you some extra time, but I can't for much longer." Of course, I understand my friends were late and that is incredibly obnoxious, but what did she want me to do. I said they had texted that they were on their way, so wait for them or cancel the appointments but don't be mean to me when I am already a wreck! Or speak to my mother or my maids of honor, also there (as she knew). Everyone knows not to mess with a bride's head on her big day! All of this aside, I HIGHLY recommend drybar! So fun and you leave looking great. Also, it's cheaper in ATL than LA! Full parking lot right outside and added bonus, you can get your sweat on at Flywheel beforehand! (Yes, they have showers.) I have called corporate twice regarding the situation and nobody will contact me back. Ech. Everyone is very nice but it went so wrong so fast the second I shook hands with my blower (?) because it was like shaking hands with a wet rag. He was very nice though. The cold water used while washing my hair was less then thrilling and even worse he stayed about an inch above my hair line and kinda just mooshed the shampoo around and then rinsed. No scrubbing, no cleaning. My scalp is actually itchy and my hair doesn't even smell good. I let him blow it out and then bounced and the manager Katarina was very professional and comped me and offered to make up for it personally next time she will do my hair and I will for sure. Some other bummers though: A) Annoyingly loud music. Like can I just relax please? B) Painfully awkward seats that have a bump in the bottom so it feels like your jacket fell in the seat and you are now on top of it. C) I was not even told that you can upgrade your "washing" to a ten minute one with a massage. Maybe that is how they get you to come back for more by doing a poor wash the first time. At least offer though because I always upgrade when possible. C 1/2) They don't give you anything to put over your outfit. I literally was told to stand up while water is dripping down my back after the faux wash and had to ask for a towel. Odd. D) Everyone was drinking wine or champagne and I was not offered anything. Maybe it is because the whole time I was sitting in the chair after the wash I was kinda seething anger because my scalp felt dirty and itchy while this poor boy is now trying to fluff it up. E) He didn't use any product of any kind? In front of him was Morracan Oil and a plethora of others products and I personally use Morracan Oil. He didn't even ask. Not for nothing but you can get a wash and blow from any salon for about the same price. I will go back and update my review when I do because I feel this place has potential. read more

Freaking love this place!!! It's hard to get a midday appointment on a Friday or Saturday and you need to book out as far as possible, but there is obviously a reason that their 10 chairs are always rockin. I have been twice and was thrilled with my experience and the finished product both times. For $35 I consider it a great value as well. If you have special occasions with some regularity or if you just like having your hair blown out on the weekends I definitely recommend getting a "bartab" where you can pre-purchase a package of blowouts. I ended up here while on vacation in Atlanta. The first good thing was that you can book online. When I got there I was seated immediately, given something to drink, and taken to the back to get my hair washed within 5 minutes. I am an African American woman with long, natural, kinky, curly hair so I was a little worried about how my hair would come out. Once my hair stylist was done my hair was nice and straight without a kink or curl. She took her time and made sure she even straightened the hard to reach edges. Excellent hair style. I had a themed party that I needed to attend and the hairstylist exceeded my expectations by far. I got tons of compliments. Very clean and beautiful salon and champagne as well! The only complaint I have was the front desk. They need to be a little more professional. They just seemed a little inexperienced. When I first walked in I stood right in front of the desk for several minutes and I couldn't even some eye contact. Very distracted while checking out as well. First time at dry bar. I went to Blo bar in Miami whenever I got my hair blow dryed and loved it. What makes Dry bar a little more special is the few things they do extra, like offer you a mimosa, tea, or fruit water!! Yes please! Then there are little cookies that taste amazing. It started to rain and they gave everyone a complementary umbrella to not mess up their hair! Yes!! The little things that make them go above and beyond. Highly disappointed with my entire experience. The stylist did not introduce herself at the start of my appointment. From a customer service standpoint, that should be the first step to any appointment. From there, my entire shampoo was cold. Typically, it is a cold rinse, not entire cold wash. As for the service, I requested the cosmo. Emphasized my hair needs texture and volume when initially washed for curls. To dry my hair, she did not comb through my hair. She immediately took a round brush and started pulling it. At one point, she pulled so aggressively it jolted my neck to the side. At the same time, she knocked my glass of champagne causing a spill in my lap. She had zero conversation with me. Responded with one word answers. She curled my hair in the typical fashion. No hair spray was applied. Before the heat could set, she started pulling her fingers through my hair. I had to stop her and reiterate my hair will fall without pulling it out. Not even one hour after my appointment, my curls are non existent and it was a complete waste of money. This is not the first bad experience with this location, but definitely will be my last. I loved this place! I had read about it in a magazine and made a point to go there with a friend. They had macaroons and little pastries at the check-in desk (not sure if this is a norm there), and a nice little selection of drinks. My stylist asked about my preferences as far as how much product to use, etc. before she began, and I explained to hair my hair type (naturally wavy/curly, big, thick, dry), so she worked around that and it ended up looking AMAZING! Sleek, voluminous but not big, and just-right curls. (I got the Mai Tai.) It's the only time I've ever been able to compare myself to a Victoria's Secret model! :) It held up pretty well, and my stylist worked with my hair knowing that it wouldn't stay perfectly in tact all day. Since they do on-location services, I know I'll be using them for my wedding one day. The atmosphere is really nice and clean. They have hooks at each station for your purse, and they can hang your jacket in the back if you have one. Nice, big mirrors in front of and behind each chair, and fun movies (subtitles only since there's music playing over the speakers) and magazines at each chair. It's great to go alone or with a friend--the setup and the loud(ish) music makes it difficult to chat with people in different chairs, but it's so fun seeing how everyone's hair turns out! I gave this 4 stars and not 5 because I think it would be great if there was a drink list when you're first greeted, and the music was just a -touch- too loud--but not so much that it ruined the atmosphere. And if anyone from Drybar corporate is reading this, I think it'd be great to have a little side table or tray for each station so it'd be easier to grab your drink when your hair is getting done. I went to Dry Bar for the first time this past weekend. Overall, I had a good experience - I like how my hair was styled, my hair stylist was friendly and the salon has a nice ambiance. My biggest (and only) complaint is that they were almost 30 minutes behind schedule for my appointment. PROS: My stylist (Drew) was wonderful! He talked with me about the styles he would recommend given the shape of my face and my hair type. He never made me feel rushed, shared a lot of his "hair care" knowledge with me, and was friendly and personable. I was pleased with the "final product" (I got the "Southern Comfort" style). CONS: My appt was at 4:45pm on Saturday. I arrived on time and immediately noticed how busy the salon was. The 4 chairs were full in the "waiting area" and there were 2-3 other customers standing around waiting to be seen. I was finally taken back, 25 minutes after my scheduled appt. Nobody let me know they were running behind, nor did I receive an apology for the delay. I almost ran late for my own bday party due to the delay and was stressed during the appt about whether I should ask Drew to hurry, but not wanting to leave with a sloppy hairstyle. Overall, not the best customer service (but probably not a deal-breaker, either). read more

Super disappointing. I went to the new location in alpharetta, ga. My hair was flat within an hour of leaving. I also had my daughter with me. He hair looked cute but it too was flat in no time. We didn't even make it to the event before our hair was flat. I also think the booking service is terrible. I tried to make 2 appointments and that wasn't available so I asked to do back to back appts. She wasn't sure how to do that. Seriously! All in all a huge waste of 100 dollars. I've been to many blow out bars, including some in Chicago, and this was BY FAR the best blow out I've ever had. Hands Down. Beth did an AMAZING job, as well as being very fun to chat with. I feel it's fair to mention that I have extremely thick hair down past my shoulders too so it's a lot of work. My hair looked thick, shiny, and gorgeous. It also kept it's curl well into the next day and had movement. Unlike most stylists who had to shellac my hair for it to hold, Beth managed to get my hair bouncy and moveable as well. So impressed. I will definitely be back! From the front door to the bathroom this place is adorable. Most of the workers are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is for the receptionists (I had a different one helping me when I came in than when I left). My friend and I arrived a bit early for our appointment and when we asked the receptionist if they had a menu of styles she said they did but never got us one to look at like she said she would/seemed oddly annoyed we asked. Her whole vibe wasn't overly friendly or fun. I got the same vibe from the second receptionist who helped us check out. I think it just stood out because they were the only two people who weren't over the top warm and friendly. In my opinion Drybar is modern and cute, however I don't think all of their stylists are trained equally. I love the idea of a well-done blowout as an alternative to the stuffy updo. As a bride, I decided to take the plunge into this new era and instead of having a teased stuffy updo, I opted for a downdo of old hollywood waves. Wanting to make sure I'll be happy with my choice and comfortable with my decision, I decided to book a couple blowouts before the big day. My first blowout was on my birthday. It was a fun experience. I walked in and was greeted by lovely ladies at the front desk. There were treats sitting on the counter and I was given a plethera of drink choices including a mimosa, white wine and some fruity infused water amongst others. There is an iphone docking station at every seat but it's only compatable for the 4's and under since the iphone 5 has a different input. I was seated in my chair and given a menu by my stylist of the different services they offer and different hairstyles. I told her I was getting married and wanted to try this place out for my wedding. She was very pleasant and in the end did a good job. In the end my hair wasn't as curly as I would have liked but whatever it was my birthday and I didn't mind. After all, I knew I was coming back for another updo. Much to my surprise, when I made my next appointment for a blowout on Valentines Day, I was told I cannot request certain hairstylists. A little bummed out, I still showed to my appt where I was seated by a different stylist who went through the same routine. I told her the exact same story and she was very pleasant and nice. I asked for old hollywood curls but didn't end up with them. The way I see it is, I understand that you may have done your best to achieve curls on my head but if the stylists were not going to be able to achieve what I wanted then they should have informed me from the beginning and I could have changed my appointment from a blowdry to an actual "style" or "updo" or whatever term drybar would like to use to describe needing more time on my head. If they would have told me that I needed to sit in the chair for another 60 minutes while they take product, hairspray and an iron to my hair, then I would have gladly forked over the extra 40 or 50 bucks to get what I wanted from the beginning. Now I am out two blowouts plus a hefty tip and I still need to find another stylist in Atlanta who is able to achieve a well-done bridal updo that doesn't look like a pinterest fail. I already had booked 8 blowouts for my bridal party and now will need to cancel them as I don't believe drybar on West Paces has the experience needed to achieve old hollywood waves. I wanted drybar to be a fun modern exciting new concept for myself and bridal party the day of the wedding. I wanted it to be the answer to stuffy over hairsprayed updo's but unfortunately I was underwhelmed and I really don't want to spend another 40 plus tip on something that's just mediocre on my wedding day. read more

Loved it! Went here on Friday for a blow out for the first time. Total ease in scheduling my appointment (I scheduled online on their website). I got there and the place is absolutely adorable! I love the set up. It was very hip and contemporary. My appointment was about 10 minutes late but I was okay with that. The lady who did my hair (wish I could remember her name) was awesome. She was courteous, friendly, and did my hair perfectly! I love the setup and how they have different styles that you can get for all the same price. I think that that's an awesome idea. I had an overall good time at dry-bar. I've been here 7 or 8 times and I will go here for a very long time. There has been times where I get a good stylist. I've had some bad experiences as well. Today, my daughter went and got a blow out. She was very excited and loved her hair in the end. The process was rough and our stylist was awful. My daughter go ther hair washed and was drenched with water on the back of her shirt. I made sure the stylist put a towel on the back of her neck, and she did but the turn out was awful. Later on when the straightening was going on, the stylist burnt her ear. It's bright red and I was astonished when I saw her ear. My experience at dry bar today was the worst. I recommend not going here if you have a young one. Especially with sensitive ears. read more
