Horrible service! Please don't waste your money nor your time. I have been at this place 3 times within the last couple of years because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. But they disappointed me every single time! First, they treat you like they are doing you a favor. Not attitude from the stylist, just straight face, not talking to you ( barely a hello) while they go away from their station to hug their regular customers. I will just stand to my last appointment to give an example of bad service.. it took the stylist 4 hours to do a pin straight her style to my natural hair. No extensions. Hahaha I left here with the extremely rare urge to write a bad review, then I felt bad, but then I checked this location on Yelp and laughed because it's soo poorly rated! Hoping to add fuel to fire so management will improve this chain? Arrived for my appointment 5 mins early and waited 30 minutes. I was told they were down a stylist so hence the wait, but based on reviews here, it sounds like they usually run behind. All good. My stylist had me select from their options and said "it's all the same" They then washed my hair - and can't lie, the scalp massage was great! The water temp though was so bad, as others have said it just oscillated from way too hot to way too cold. The styling itself was not great, both in process and result. They burned my scalp multiple times and I was shocked when they were done cause the hair was falling in my face and I would literally have to clip it up to see. When I pointed out that I needed more volume at the roots, they said "we can't do anything about that, your hair is flat." I laughed cause I knew it was hopeless after that and just left. Ruined a Once-in-a-Lifetime Occasion I had been looking forward to this appointment for weeks. My daughter and I booked blowouts in advance to celebrate her college graduation a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. We planned ahead, scheduled early, and had high hopes. When we arrived, we were told they were running behind and short-staffed with only 3 stylists working. We were asked to come back, and I made sure to personally write down my number so they could call us. Rather than waste time, my daughter and I went to get her nails done while we waited for the call. The call never came. We walked back ourselves to check in, and a stylist claimed she had called me. When I asked her to show me the call log, she grabbed the phone and hit dial and my phone started ringing right there in front of her. She said "see, I called you!" but the last four digits dialed were wrong. My number was not the one that had been called previously. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she told me she was not going to argue and that she would NOT be doing our hair because her client was now there for her appointment. I broke down in tears right there. This was my daughter's graduation day. I cannot style my own hair and was counting on this appointment. I chose to leave rather than make the situation worse. I am still heartbroken that this special day was impacted by carelessness and terrible customer service. I would not recommend this location for anything important. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE I am NOT the type of person to write reviews. I let things slide, I move on. But this "blowout" was so bad, I literally left with WET HAIR after paying full price, and I refuse to stay quiet. Here's the timeline: * They called me 50 mins before my appointment asking to push me back 15 mins. Fine, I was nice about it. * I show up, get rushed through the fastest hair wash of my life, and I'm back in the chair before people who were already at the bowl when I walked in. * The blow dry? A joke. She used medium heat, barely any tension, and I could feel my hair frizzing before she even finished. I asked her to redo my front pieces, explained I needed her to get closer to the root, and only then did she finally turn up the heat. I pay, start walking out, and realize my head still feels heavy. Because it's DAMP. I walk back in, and she has to redo the bottom of my hair. I leave again and later realize the crown of my head is STILL wet. I call as I am walking to my car, hoping maybe they'll offer to fix it or at least try to make it right... nope. Just told, "we're overbooked, nobody can do anything, your complaint is being sent to management and they will decide if you get a refund." No offer to rebook, no apology, nothing. Fast forward to me at home, blow-drying my own hair because it wasn't even properly washed in the first place. That's when I realized my hair was not washed properly at all, I could literally feel and see oil build-up. Had to drown myself in dry shampoo just to get by. So not only did I lose an hour of my life, I also had to redo everything myself. Tell me again what I paid for? Because it definitely wasn't a blowout. The customer service is nonexistent they focus too much on booking as many people as possible but give them the worst service possible, the technique is questionable, and honestly I don't know how this place is still in business with all these negative reviews. Worst blowout I've got ever. I booked this location without checking the reviews beforehand - my bad. I never had a bad experience at a drybar before so I made an appointment without checking. They assigned me a stylist who hardly speaks any English. He didn't understand my request, and it seems like he didn't know how to blow out my hair either. After being told repetitively that he was burning my scalp, he kept on scorching every inch of my skin he could reach. It would have been worth it if the outcome was good. I booked a classic blowout, I got lifeless, flat, almost straight hair. Do not count on this place unless you know your stylist. Lastly, either their water temperature was difficult to control, or my stylist didn't know how to use it. Being burned and then iced over and over is a special kind of hell. read more

So glad there's still a dry bar left near SF. I usually go to Halo down the block but they were closed on Sunday. This was first time at this location. My appointment was at 1pm and I had to wait 10 mins. I didn't get the girls name but she did a wonderful job. She had pink hair? I selected a style from their lookbook (voluminous loose curls), but the results were nothing like what I expected. Overall, my experience with Drybars is that the customer service is horrible and the environment and talent are very down market. I was pretty bummed after my service. Not only were they more than 15mins late after my appointment start time (I also arrived early), but I really didn't love my style either. I'm truly not picky with my hair, and as a busy mom with young children I was excited to have a moment to breathe while I got pampered a little with a nice blowout for a family photo shoot. I chose a photo from their small booklet on what I wanted my hair to look like and it didn't resemble the photos. I'm also not sure if it was the product or what but my hair looks oily or something is just off. Blowout with Jay surprised me today. My hair is frizzy/ curly with texture. and my keratin is more than 6 months old. i am not a delicate flower and i have q teflon scalp. I always thought sectioning off my hai and using higher heat with lots of tension was the key to an effective blow out. Jai treated my hair like gossamer floss.delicately blowing it around all over. She did not section it off with clips or brushes, heat was low and she took time and care, but seemed inexperienced to me, kind of soft spoken and nervous. I was dubious about her experience snd her level of expertise . i even found a damp spot after she was done snd pointed it out, asking politely for her to dry it more thoroughly. I always tip decently, but frankly felt like I would be disappointed in my blow out. I owe Jai an apology Trust the process! Proof is in the result. My hair turned out fantastically smooth, silky and with frizz-free volume. Clearly, she has been well trained. Maximum results without hair damage! Thanks for treating my tresses with kid gloves- I would go back to this stylist in a heartbeat- Impressive and taught me that gentle can be better than intense- Thanks for a humbling experience Jay and teaching me that I don't know my hair as well as I think I do. read more

I have seen bad reviews for this location and never take it personally because I understand things happen. However, this experience was worth leaving a review. The location called me 1 hour prior to my appointment asking if I could reschedule. Today was my baby shower and I made this appointment so I didn't have to style my hair 7.5 months pregnant. The front office "manager" was so rude on the phone when I said no, I'm not flexible and I'll be there at 9. When I arrived, I got to the salon at 8:47am (appt at 9am) she kept saying we open at 9 through the door. Like obviously I already know that. I wasn't rude or gave attitude- I understand, however I wanted to be clear I cannot reschedule and if there isn't a stylist on site I needed to leave to find a plan B. Again, today was my baby shower. Nonetheless, they took me and miraculously took a walk in client that came in 5 min after me? I left with long curls in my hair when I asked for large curls. I couldn't complain because I needed to leave. Again, on schedule. By the time I got to my event, there was so much hairspray my hair began to clump together and became a rats nest. I just called to see how much would it cost for just washing my hair (I have a heart monitor on and it can't get wet) the girl on the phone told me they charge $39.00 just to wash my hair!!! I usually go to another place in Burlingame but they are closed. They charge only 15.00 for a wash. That is really reasonable for just a hair wash. I have been going to Drybar regularly for more than two years now and have had a good experience overall with many of their stylists at this location. Last week when I walked in for my appointment, I noticed that there was only one stylist left for the day and she was already running behind at least 30 minutes. So when Amanda checked me in and was ready to head out for the day, she looked at me and noticed I was stressed out about finishing at a certain time. I had a commitment I needed to attend at a certain time so I did not have an extra hour to spare. I was so lucky Amanda decided to take me as a client last minute. Not only did she do an amazing job but she took me on knowing I have so much thick hair and it would keep her at work past her allotted time due to not having anymore stylists to help me on time. She truly saved me that evening and I couldn't thank her enough. I left feeling like a million bucks. Thank you Amanda for taking me on that evening! read more

It's not relaxing to be worried about your meter running out because they are running late! The lovely young woman that checked me in this evening (8/9/24) was bubbly and professional. And she was just the same when she checked me out. My stylist, Bre gave me one of the best blowouts I have had. She listened to what I wanted, and with little instruction was intuitive enough to give me exactly that and more! I've always wanted to splurge on myself a bit at Drybar but just haven't had the opportunity. I was invited here for a corporate event and ended up having a fantastic experience. When you arrive, you get checked in and shortly after, your stylist will come and greet you and bring you to the hair wash station in the back. I liked that my stylist asked me if it was ok to double wash my hair and if my preference was for her to condition my entire head or just the ends. She then brought me back to her station, where there was a catalogue of different blowouts to choose from. I decided to go with the cosmo-tai, which is a mix of textured hair with curls. I have thick hair, so I typically never curl my own hair as it takes too much time, but my stylist made quick work of drying my hair and then putting in the curls with a flat iron. I didn't realize this, but apparently, flat irons are better at curling thick hair than a regular iron, and the curls are supposed to hold longer. She then finished me off with a few different products and the end result was great. I got so many compliments from people the rest of the day on how my hair looked. I only wished that my blowout lasted longer. I was told it should last at least 3 days but by the next morning, most of the blowout was gone. read more

Will never come back here. Got a gift certificate last Xmas that I've been waiting to use. Made an appointment at 1.30 pm on Saturday for an evening outing. Arrived 2 minutes before the appt to be told they're running behind and there's a 15 min wait. The attitude was pretty much it is what it is and suck it up. And the wait ended up being 30 min. Yet still, the end result was the worst part of this experience. I asked for beachy natural waves, and got the mix of a gloomy housewife from the 50s and a slick back vampire - you can use your imagination. To the management of this location, in case you actually care about running this business, here are some notes why you have a 2.9 rating on Yelp: 1. Punctuality: Either your booking system is not serving you well or the place is that unorganized, whatever it is, you gotta figure that sh*t out, especially when so many of the reviews here point out the habitual wait issue. 2. Front desk customer service: when the front desk told me about the wait, they did not say sorry even once until I shared my frustration as now I'm in a time crunch. The response was "my apologies but we cannot control this." Really, you can't? If scheduling is challenging for you, maybe you should not be in the business of running a salon? 3. Inconsistency with service: was not offered the look book or a beverage, as everyone else was. When it occurred to me that was the case, I didn't bother as I could be running even later due to their late start 4. Actually bad hair: The mortifying hair I walked out of that place with. I spent another hour at home to make it right, but all my pictures came out with me looking 10 years older I see a lot of posters on the walls in the store promoting some monthly membership to get a blowout 1-2X a month.... And all I could think to myself was "why would anyone" when they can't even keep their scheduling straight.
