I usually never do reviews but my stylist Lashana deserves one! First off, I have ALOT of hair and it's very thick. Everytime I get my hair done, stylists never fail to mention how much hair I have and it always sounds like an issue to them. Lashana never mentioned once how much hair I had or that it would be a problem for her which I was happy about. Another thing, when I asks for blowouts I want volume and curls but with only blow dry, no tools and I've never been very successful at getting that at other places. Lashana did THAT and even more, I couldn't have been happier with the result. This woman deserves a damn RAISE, love it so much I've been talking about it all day. Extremely unprofessional and incompetent employees- I had an appointment at the Downtown location and was texted a day before that the facility was closing for maintenance and that I could transfer my appointment to the Back Bay location or cancel the appointment. I texted back that I wanted to cancel because I couldn't make it to Back Bay. Obviously they didn't do their jobs correctly, because I was still charged a no show fee at Back Bay. I tried texting and calling to follow up after receiving an email that I no-showed to ensure I wouldn't be charged, yet no one got back to me. I will now be disputing this with my bank. read more

This is literally the first review I have done, but I feel compelled to warn other people. STAY AWAY from this place. I had an appointment, and needed to cancel. I tried to reach the salon by phone no less than 10 times -- each time an automated greeting and no way to reach a real person. I left multiple messages over 2 days, and sent multiple emails saying I needed to cancel and wanted some kind of confirmation that they got the message. No reply. Then I got onto the main DryBar website and created an account in order to send a message to their main message center. No reply. I literally asked if they are a legit business. My appointment time came and went, and of course I received an email saying I missed my appointment and would be charged. I immediately replied saying, "are you kidding me?" and explained all the steps I had taken to try to reach them. Of course, there was no response. The charges hit my credit card and I now am disputing it with my bank. What a joke - and I have spent *so much time* on this. I've never had an experience like this with ANY business. Worst blow out ever. I should've read the reviews before going in. I've had blow-out all over the US and even in the smallest towns in the US, I've had better stylist that I had today. My stylist was kind but did a horrible job. Her supervisor had to come in and try to fix it. It got better but I still had a lot of fry away hairs and the blow out looks like I cold e done it. The ends are rough and dry looking. The 1st stylist also dried my hair so it roughly she broke off some ends on the crown of my head. Proof - look at the blow out down 4 days earlier and the one done today. 1st pic -- no flyaways no broken off hair. 2nd pic is blow out don at Drybar - my hair has lots of flyaways and broken off. I was visiting from out of town and went to get my hair washed and blow dryed. I do have a lot of hair and the girl did a great job blow drying my hair. I even went back a few days later because of the humidity and got my hair braided as well and they did a great job. Please save your money. I went here to get a blowout before a wedding and it was just not worth the time or money. I wasn't offered any water or tea, like I was at other DryBar locations. My stylist barely spoke to me. Besides asking me how I wanted my hair and checking to make sure the water temp was ok, we didn't speak a word. I asked for large loose curls and volume. My hair ended up looking flat and barely curled at the ends. The only good thing is my hair did look shiny after the blow out. I had to redo my hair before the wedding using a curling iron read more

I am so sad to write this review. I went in for an elopement hair trial and paid $114 (before tip) for this. While the staff were friendly, I can't honestly say I'd recommend this location. I was in and out in 15 minutes and did not feel comfortable going back the day of my elopement. I truly could have asked my husband to do a better job. read more

So, let me start by saying my hair looked amazing- however, going to a dry bar is an experience. I've been to several dry bars across the USA, and a few other blow dry concept bars- and the overall experience here was the worst. No frills, no conversations, no pampering feeling. All I could think is the staff is hardened by local regulars and does not have a lot of for fun girls nights. The interactions were cold and limited- I booked for me plus guest we were not done anywhere close to each other and her stylist was essentially just rude and mine didn't say two words. Bad twilight like tv was on- I tried explaining I had did a Spartan 5k race earlier that day and just wanted a nice night out- for conversational piece- and was met with yeah everyone deserves a night out- end of convo. If this was my first Drybar experience, I'd NEVER come back. read more

I was a bit hesitant given the poor yelp reviews, but I had a wonderful experience here! They texted me and was able to take me earlier. My stylist took her time and listened to everything I wanted. After getting my hair done, I didn't wash my hair so I could have my curls for another few days and it just got prettier and bouncier! They didn't push the products on me either which I appreciated. I stopped in for a blow out and braid before a concert this past Thursday night. The store is very clean, airy and bright. I was greeted on arrival and even though I was 5 minutes late (note: I did call ahead to let them know I'd arrive shortly after my designated time slot), I had no issues. My stylist came over and we consulted shortly on what I was looking for (beachy waves with braids). The shampoo was relaxing and not rushed. I ok'd the use of product but asked that she not go too heavy and try to keep the product on the lower half of the hair and away from my scalp (just cause it makes my very fine hair way too heavy and itchy otherwise). She was great about it. Start to finish I was in the chair a little over an hour. It was a very relaxing experience and my stylist took her time. I wish I had taken a photo in the store to illustrate how pretty the style came out. My naturally fine hair doesn't really hold a curl, no matter what you do, so the beach waves are a perfect solution for me. She braided in two perfectly symmetrical side braids that met in the back and she clipped with a pretty gold feather barrette that I had brought with me. Bonus, my hair not only looked beautiful, but it smelled fantastic all night. I'd totally come back again for another blow out! read more

DO NOT go here if you have curly hair. I wanted to blow out my curly hair for graduation and a curly-haired girl recommended DryBar provided that I ask for a natural hair stylist. I called ahead of time to make sure that they had a stylist who was comfortable doing 3C-4B hair, they said yes. I arrived for my 7:15am appointment (5/22/2018) at 7:05am and I wasn't seated in a chair until 7:45am. They took off $15 but I honestly should have just left. She did not comb through my hair with conditioner while washing, which left it very tangled and more difficult to dry. The stylist asked me which brush to use because she wasn't sure what would work best with my hair. She tried to flat iron it while it was still wet (???) and would have surely caused breakage and heat damage had I not asked that she blow dry all of my hair first. This was a professional salon and it felt like she had never seen curly hair before, let alone styled it. It looked okay when I left the salon but it didn't even last the train ride home. My graduation pictures looked terrible and I'm so disappointed. I wish they had been honest about not being as adept at curly hair because I wouldn't have wasted my money. So frustrating. I was hesitant to come to this location precisely because of the reviews. I had a feeling this wasn't going to go well but I pushed past it. I came here for my friend's wedding-- about 20 minutes earlier than my appointment to ensure that I can be started promptly since I was on a schedule. I only got called to wash my hair THIRTY minutes after my scheduled appointment, which was ridiculous. I showed the stylist the picture of exactly what I wanted (btw, the stylist was nice, she just didn't do what I wanted.) I attached some pictures so that y'all can see how far off everything was. The first pic is what I asked the stylist to do. Really disappointed and I wish I had listened to my gut. $45 + $10 (for the braid) down the drain. read more

Today I visited a drybar for the first time, to get my hair done for my engagement photo shoot. I arrived about 20 minutes early for my noon appointment on a Tuesday, and they were able to see me right away, after offering me a drink (which I declined). They washed my hair, before blow drying it, curling it, and putting mounds of product in it (which I requested, because my hair holds nothing). The person who did my hair was really kind and made some light small talk. And it managed to stay for the entire day despite the wind, etc. The entire experience cost $45 before tip. Overall, I had a good time and was pleased with the result. I could see myself visiting again if the occasion arose. read more

I think this location has improved based on the feedback. I almost canceled my appt because of the negative reviews except I noticed that the negative reviews had been followed up with by the Drybar and all of them seemed to be about a month ago. I decided to give it a try and was very happy I did. A couple things to note: - my appt was midday Wednesday, so it was not busy. They even got me in 40 mins early - I got a wonderful head massage and deep clean during the wash - the receptionist was very friendly and immediately offered me something to drink - the temp of the water did fluctuate a bit, but was mostly cold (which I don't mind- tip: it's better for your hair anyway!) Jones was my stylist and as others have said she is very friendly and did a great job with my thick, somewhat frizzy hair. I have never been to a Drybar before and won't hesitate to return when I have an event. read more

Ramone is fantastic! Just finished up a blowout for tonight's holiday party... they were running a few minutes behind because ~tis' the season~, but Ramone made up for the lost time and I ended right on schedule! He did a phenomenal job (I got the Cosmotai style) and several girls complimented it as I left The atmosphere was so fun - holiday movies on TV, fun music, comfortable hair washing stations, and the champagne was flowing. Such a disappointment. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment and was told there would be a 30min wait because they were running behind. I ended up waiting for close to an hour and a half... In that time no one ever approached me to give me an up date or anything. I had to ask after it had hit the hour mark. Once they did finally get to me the girl asked what I wanted and I said a blow out with a few soft curls at the bottom. When she got done and turned the chair around to the mirror I was horrified... I looked like a cross between Shirley temple and a grandma's perm, at that point I have now been there for two and a half hours. I have to go because I am running so far behind schedule. Just got a blowout here and 15 minutes after I left a my curls fell out and my hair was an ugly mess of frizz and hairspray. I wanted to look nice for my master's degree graduation but instead I look like a disaster. I told the stylist I part my hair in the middle but she parted it on the side which looks ridiculous. I'm so disappointed and upset. Poor quality that ruined a day that should have been a celebration. What a waste of money. read more

I just moved from Fenway so decided to try out this location, as opposed to my usual Back Bay location. It's much smaller and way more low-key than Back Bay and I had a really good experience here. It was really easy to get an appointment and I only booked about 2 days in advance. I wish I remembered my stylist's name (I'll update this when I go back next) - but she was fabulous. I have extensions so it can be really hard to dry and style my hair, but she did it in less than an hour (a feat in and of itself!) and my curls are still in from Saturday afternoon, 2 days and a workout later. Super super great job and I would highly recommend this place. read more

I have shoulder length thick, frizzy, wavy to curly hair and it was blow dried nicely and in just 20- 30 mins! I wish the Drybar in my home city was this great. I was so excited for my first Drybar experience today. I heard great things, and so booked an appointment to get a blowout and curls before my engagement photos. My appointment was supposed to start at 9, which is when this locations opens. I booked the appointment about 3 weeks in advance and confirmed via email the day before that I would be attending. I arrived early and there was one other client present. We both checked in and were offered drinks. The girl at the front desk told the other client that her stylist was ready for her around 9:05. I expected mine to be ready soon after, but there was no sign of anyone else. At 9:12 I asked the girl at the front desk what was going on, since my photos were supposed to start at 10:15. The girl told me that I had been booked with a stylist that doesn't work on Sundays and that she would try to find a replacement. She did not find a stylist to come in, but did not communicate this with me. I had to repetitively go ask her for updates. She was incredibly rude, did not apologize, and did not offer any solution. At 9:55 the stylist finished with the first client and the front desk girl told her she would have to immediately start with me. The stylist said "This is stupid. I shouldn't be punished for showing up to work." I finally sat down at 10 (an hour after my appointment was supposed to start), trying to maintain a positive attitude since I was finally getting the experience. The stylist rushed through everything. My hair turned out looking flat and lifeless. I thought the point of a blowout was to add volume, and when I do it myself, my hair has tons of volume. Instead, my hair was flat and there was barely any curl. The curl she did put in fell out after 10 minutes since she used barely any product/hairspray, despite me requesting it several times. Thankfully our photographer is amazing and flexible and was able to push back our shoot, but I will NEVER return here and will warn everyone I know to avoid them at all cost. read more

I came here for the first time as a little pick-me-up treat for myself. I can't stop looking at my hair! The staff was super sweet, and talented. I can't remember the name of the lovely lady who styled my hair- but she slayed it and she was so friendly. The salon is very clean and well kept. Not worth the time or money. Went for an appointment at 1:15pm and didn't have a stylist come over until about 1:50pm. Upon arrival the front desk didn't offer me a beverage, I had to ask her about them when I saw other women with glasses of champagne, wine, etc. She didn't tell me where I could hang my coat either, I followed the lead of other women at that point. They were able to take us all at the same time, offered us mimosa's, tea, etc., and were very thorough in asking us questions about what we wanted our hair to look like. Aileen was my stylist; I asked for mostly straight, some volume up top and lose waves towards the ends. Came out perfectly! Held up even with the humid/wet weather. I don't live in Boston, but I would return if I'm there and need a blow out. read more

I have never been disappointed by Drybar and today was no exception Shequila was a joy and my hair rocks. I noticed a particularly difficult woman next to me and was so impressed by the way the staff tried to help her (it was beyond their help, you can't help a bad attitude no matter how much hairspray). We sadly live in a time where a woman that was entitled and rude can act like that, feel justified and then probably come on this site and rip apart the location. It's not fair to the hardworking folks that endure the abuse and the negative press. Thanks Drybar for always being awesome and consistent. Had an appointment for 10 am and was told they had 3 stylists call out and that hey we're running behind. The receptionist did not apologize and I was told to have a seat, however none were available because there were so many people waiting. At 11:15 they finally started. The receptionist gave me the lamest excuse for a shampoo ever-literally never touched my scalp. The water was too cold and when didn't change it even after asking if the temperature was okay. During the wash I told the receptionist it would have been nice to get a call saying they were running over an hour late. She told me it was too busy to call and that "technically we aren't even supposed to call clients." I got up soaked and disappointed and then sat for another 10 minutes with wet hair before my stylist was ready. My stylist was finally ready and comes over, doesn't brush out my hair at all, and starts drying. No brushing=tangles and pain. Not sure if I had the wrong idea about blow dry bars, but I was under the impression that the point of the service was to get a great blow dry with a skilled stylist. I thought that the stylist should be able to give me a blow out with just a blow dryer and a round brush. Apparently I was wrong because my stylist blow dried my hair straight and then curled it with a curling iron. Could have combined those steps if she knew what she was doing. Would have prevented the double heat damage. I left the salon and by the time I got to my car my curls had fallen out. I would have saved myself hours and money if I had done it myself. So, all in all, awful experience and I will never be back. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see the salon was completely empty upon my arrival. Blow dry bars are so popular and I have never seen one that wasn't very busy. I'm guessing this location is really new. I also went in for a 4:45 appointment on a Monday, so not a prime time. I checked in and then sat for a few minutes before the stylist came out. Both the stylist and the woman behind the counter spoke in Spanish for a moment and then the woman behind the counter asked me how to pronounce my name again. The stylist was friendly and took my coat and told me where to sit while she put my coat away. When the stylist came back, she asked what kind of blowout I wanted and I told her. Then she directed me to the hair washing stations. When she washed my hair, she did a good job on the parts that she washed, but the back of my head was neglected. Blow dry bars need to improve on this all together... We wash our entire scalp when we shower, why wouldn't be done when we pay to have it done as well? That was the first annoyance. The stylist began my blow dry, but never inquired as to where I like my hair parted. She never inquired what or how many products I was OK with being used in my hair. My experience at Drybar is not usually like this. The blow dryer was either too hot or too close to my head, or both because I got burnt several times. She pulled my hair really, really hard for most of the time. As a person who suffers from migraines, I really didn't appreciate this. I'm sure if my hair was pulled that hard regularly, I would begin to have hair loss. While the stylist was doing my hair, she and the woman behind the counter spoke to each other in Spanish a few times. I thought it was a bit unprofessional, but I wouldn't have minded so much if the rest of experience wasn't so annoying. Then to top it off, the woman behind the counter started staring at me. When I looked at her, she wasn't deterred at all and continued to stare. Luckily when it was time for me to check out, another woman had come in and started working behind the counter and was much more pleasant. Even though this location is the most convenient to me, I don't think I will be visiting again. read more

Yikes! Visited Drybar for the first time this weekend. I can give myself a decent blowout at home, but I booked the appointment hoping for a better and longer lasting blowout than what I am capable of. The result? Absolutely not worth the money. My hair was frizzy all around the crown almost immediately, and the curl at the ends were falling out by the time I arrived home, leaving me looking unkempt. Now, as you know, it sucks to go to a special event not feeling your best. Prior to leaving a negative review I did call Drybar to share the feedback that my service did not meet expectations. I was offered the option to come back in for a "touch up" but I was already on the way to my event for the evening. I was then told that customer service would be in touch 24-48 hours, which has not happened. read more

I do not recommend this salon. First, they overbook themselves! We wanted 15 minutes past our appointment time. The place was chaotic. My stylist was probably trying her best, but I felt like my blowout was completely not worth it. I wanted a "Straight Up" and I showed her a picture from the menu - I definitely wanted some volume! So I told her to please not make it pin straight. I was imagining a blowout after I get my haircut- they use a round brush and mildly curl the ends. That's all I wanted! Instead, she blew dry my hair pin straight and used a curling iron to curl the bottom. Within 20 minutes of leaving, all the curls had fallen out, and I had pin straight hair. No one could tell that I had had my hair done. My stylist also used minimal amount of product. I didn't have that post- hair cut gloss on my hair. Instead, my hair still felt the same. I honestly could have done the exact blowout on my own. Not impressed, and very disappointed. Also, I had scheduled me + a guest, and we weren't seated next to each other. I had to ask 3 times for them to move us next to each other. I booked this as a birthday present for my mom- why in the world would it be a big deal to sit next to each other?! read more

I had an appointment this past weekend at 2:00 and at 2:50 I was still waiting. I had a major black tie event for my job and I had to leave because I wouldn't have made my makeup appointment -- and they would have charged me if I missed that. There were 2 girls waiting when I arrived and then 5 girls showed up for their 2:30 appointment. During my time there not one new appointment was taken because stylists were finishing their shifts. They went from 5 stylists to 3 and I knew I wasn't getting my hair done. No one mentioned to the girls coming in that they were severely delayed. I basically had my hair up in a loose ponytail all night because I never had my hair done. When I asked how behind they were and said I had to leave, I was basically told they were really behind and got a "oh sorry" that didn't seem very sincere. read more

Pay $45 for someone else to have the privilege to play with your hair! This was my first time at a Drybar. I came to town for a business meeting and thought I would try it out. I am an asian woman with straight long hair. I was shown a "Look Book" and I said I like the lift from the roots (like the Southern) but then just mostly keep it straight (like the Manhattan). I also said I wasn't a fan of a lot of hair product and especially didn't like fragrance. The stylist showed some volumizing mousse and let me smell it and suggested it worked really well so I agreed. When she started blow drying my hair I was immediately concerned that she had no idea what she was doing. She was blow drying downward from the top and pulling very hard downward. After it was over I had super flat hair at the top and for some unknown reason, gigantic curls on my ends, and my part (which is normally towards one side with side swept bangs) was parted in the center with my bangs completely straight and down across my forehead. When I said I didn't want curls and I wanted the lift from the roots, she tried again to fix it but she didn't know what she was doing and then she snapped a little bit of my hair at the very top of my head so I had short sprigs sticking straight up the middle. She also randomly grabbed other kinds of hair product and started putting it in my hair. I got up and went to bathroom to water it down and bit and came back and asked if I could use the blow dryer and brush myself. She gave it to me and watched what I did, using the round brush at the roots to create lift, and remarked on "Oh, I see that technique. That's good! Are you a hair dresser too?" I told her I am just used to blow drying my hair. I was the only customer in the store and maybe that should have given me a hint. I don't like to make people feel bad so I didn't say anything other I just want to fix it myself. When I went to pay the woman at the register was highly suggested of leaving a tip and again being a nice person who didn't want to cause trouble I did. I told her I was not very happy with the experience and the woman couldn't really care. She just asked if I wanted a receipt. I really don't think the staff at this location are well trained at all, not in blow drying technique or in customer service. read more

This was the worst Drybar experience I've ever had. Although I left happy with the blowout itself, the experience was horrible. My mother & a few bridesmaids visited this Drybar before my wedding rehearsal dinner - a very special occasion - and upon arrival were told by Wiley at the front desk that the appointment was running late. We weren't offered an apology, a smile or anything to drink, and were not given any updates as we waited for 45 MINUTES. The shop needs to learn how to manage their schedules properly, and also how to ensure customers leave with a good experience and a smile, as that is the whole point of Drybar. I'd recommend staying away from this location unless you have time to wait, and don't care about customer service. read more

This is my first time at drybar and I was really excited! I made an appointment for 6:15 and it is currently 7:05 and I am still waiting. The receptionists are sitting on their phones and talking amongst themselves, stating how the stylists need to "hurry up with the rest of the people so we can get out of here on time." I also just witnessed a stylist complaining (rather loudly) about how it's ridiculous there are still people here.The scheduling at this location seems to be a bit backwards and makes the client just feel uncomfortable. I feel like I should leave to make their lives a little easier. If I were you I would not go to this location. read more
