I'm a double barfly for 3 years and come once weekly and I've had multiple girls from the location and they are amazing so heartwarming, nice, I've never felt more comfortable in my life! I've read some people complain about having to wait 15-20 or even 30 minutes but they never see their stylists sitting down or being lazy! This is the second time this has happened where you book an appointment online... They run a deposit on your credit card... And then you get to the salon you wait for 20 to 30 minutes to be told they're understaffed and they're going to have to move your appointment. It is the most frustrating situation, especially during a weekday when you schedule around meetings and appointments and book in advance and no one can accommodate you. They only have two stylus in there and one refused to do my hair because she had to leave. Very disappointing and will never be going back one time I understand, but when it happens more than once, it's clearly an issue with the salon. read more

Bottom line: Nia & Fuki are SUPERSTAR Stylists. But read on for more salon observations... I'll start this review by saying I have been a Drybar member for going on 10+ years. I've moved a lot throughout the Bay Area and frequented the Burlingame and Palo Alto Drybar for many of those years but now Walnut Creek is my local salon. I've always been able to find my go-to stylists at each location and for me, Nia & Fuki are my go-to's at Drybar Walnut Creek. From the moment you walk in, they are happy to see you, give you the best shampoo and scalp massages, and the styling- it's other level. They are professional and they can transform hair like no other! Every time I walk out of the salon, I don't make it more than half a block without getting compliments on my hair. On the other side of the coin, I see the low star reviews for Walnut Creek and really breaks my heart for ALL of the hard working stylists who call this location "home". There's so much talent here but operationally, they are not being setup to succeed due to lack of stylist availability and management/owners are not present. Point blank, the Drybar experience as a whole has "changed" after Alli Webb, the original founder, sold it and it was franchised out. I can tell it's not the stylists at fault here, it's the lack of structure the new owners have yet to provide which is resulting in the day-to-day challenges. They really need to be held accountable and fix the operational challenges for Walnut Creek. I have had my appointments moved or canceled because this location is short staffed or people call out sick. It's easy to be disappointed and upset with the person or stylist manning the desk but I can tell you- everyone at Walnut Creek is trying their best to keep this place afloat. It's truly not their fault. They are the face of the establishment sure BUT they also need to be setup for success with enough stylists and better leadership from the salon owners. If you do find yourself in Walnut Creek, you gotta give my ladies Nia and Fuki a try! read more

I've been to Drybar many times, but I've never had anyone as perfect as Lali. She did an AMAZING job on my blowout -- it was everything I wanted and more. She also gave me the best hair wash I've ever had! Most stylists rush through that step, but she took her time, made sure my scalp was thoroughly cleaned, and didn't miss a single spot. I booked an appointment at this establishment on the same day I needed to have my hair done, so that was the first awesome experience. I will say at first I was disappointed at the outcome of my hair styling, looking back I'm not sure why other than not really being used to my hair up in a fancy do. But as the festivities began and my hair fell into place it was exceptional. I received so many compliments on it too. I've been going to Drybar locations for years in different cities and have always had great experiences until this visit. I was in town for a conference and booked my 9:00 a.m. appointment a week in advance. My friend also booked for 9:00 a.m., but she received a call saying her appointment was completely canceled because they were understaffed. They offered her noon instead, but our conference started at 11:00, so that wasn't possible. They called me next and asked to move my appointment from 9:00 to 9:15 due to the same staffing issue. I agreed, arrived promptly at 9:00, and waited patiently. At 9:15, one of the stylists finished her client I assumed I'd be next. Instead, she went to the back, returned briefly to chat with another stylist, and then disappeared again. By 9:30, no one had even started my service. When I finally asked if I'd be seen soon, the stylist said, "Yeah, just as soon as she's done," with no sense of urgency or apology. At that point, I felt completely stuck my conference was approaching, and I'd already wasted 30 minutes. The service and communication were unprofessional and disappointing, especially from a brand that usually prides itself on reliability and customer care. I truly hope management addresses the staffing and scheduling issues so other customers don't have the same experience. read more

Hit or miss experience. I've gone and had different ppl to try them out and only one girl was able to style my hair now I like. I asked for a blow out twice and showed a picture and they literally didn't do anything like it. So just going to try finding a real salon. Really nice people and nice ambience but I can't keep leaving disappointed. Tried it three times and not worth the drive for me or the convience with schedule. Maybe if you just want styling it'll be fine, but as a curly hair girl going in for blowouts I end up leaving with a mushroom look or my hair looks dry and frizzy. read more

I was in town for the weekend and didn't want to bother doing my own hair and thought I would treat myself to a blowout. While I don't, this often I was excited to feel pretty for the weekend. This isn't exactly what happened. The young woman who did my hair could not have been nicer. The issue was that the blowout only lasted until dinner. My event was the next day, and I had to redo my hair. Having had it just cut by my regular stylist and the blowout lasted 5 days. I did reach out to the salon, and they offered me an add-on service. I don't want this. I also don't live near a salon in my city. I feel like they should make this right by giving me my money back. read more

I travel for work and have visited MANY Drybar locations throughout the US and manager Charis at Walnut Creek was incredible. I have very thick, coarse hair and she listened and did my mai tai perfectly and consistently, two mornings in a row. She also managed to bust them out in under 45 mins where most Drybar stylists take an hour on my hair due to it's thickness. The salon was clean and everyone seemed really nice. Waiting for 15 additional minutes for my appointment to start. Ironic since drybar has such a long list of policies for tardiness on behalf of your clients. I had to wait 45 min for my appointment. My two other friends experienced the exact same thing when they went here. I had my first blowout this past weekend and will absolutely not be returning. My appointment was scheduled for 2:15 and I was not called back until 2:55pm. During the service, I saw several customers leave, including one woman next to me who got a wash and the stylist forgot her in the chair and never returned to do her blow dry (the experience was painful to watch because the customer service was so horrible and they did nothing to apologize or correct their mistake). My stylist was very nice but she was exhausted because they were so overbooked and she had no time to take a break in between appointments. Another employee informed me that the owners/managers will book appointments in 45 minute slots, even though they know that the services take an hour +. After expressing my concerns to the receptionist, we were given an email address for a manager which (no shocker) bounced back. Super disappointed. read more

Absolutely terrible. Drove about an hour for my appointment since this was the closest location, got started right on time - 9am. The website says on average they take 45 minutes so I scheduled my makeup appointment down the street at 1015 thinking we would be done by then. My appointment took an hour and 45 minutes. The girl was nice the entire time and seemed new because she kept going over ever product and offering me a membership, and she then offered to pin my hair since my event wasn't until later, that way when it's time to go I just let down my hair and I'm ready - I wouldn't need to do anything. I try to go to makeup appointment just in the hopes someone can still help me and within minutes of walking my pins were already falling out. Thank goodness because I got to see what my hair looked like and I was speechless. I am showing the time on my picture so you can see it was only 30 minutes after I left that my hair looked like a disaster. I missed my makeup appointment, wasted hours driving, spent $60 just to have to redo my hair. She put so much product in that it was crunchy. Overall terrible. Plus no champagne. Was my first and last Drybar experience. I was really really looking forward to it too since I rarely get to do any self care or have alone time after having my daughter. I've came to Dry Bar twice and both times I had an amazing experience! Fukayna is THE BEST! She is so talented and amazing at what she does. I love the ambiance of the salon. Also the products work well and smell SO good! I was pleasantly surprised when they told me they are going to wash my hair first! Love that! My first time I got a Cosmo-Tai and the second time I got the Southern Comfort. I loved both styles, but the Southern Comfort is my fave!
