Leery of asian food, so far inland. The food was quite good, as I had tried this place before. [On this occasion, I had initially tried another place nearby and was turned off by the smell and the fact that after waiting for about 10 minutes, no one even acknowledged I was there.] I had the Pearl cocktail, the shrimp and vegetable tempura, and the noodle bowl with shrimp. I all was very good and the atmosphere had nice decor, and was clean. The noise level was low and the mood was good. This is one of our favorite places to have a date night! We've eaten here many times not only as a couple but also has part of big parties. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. The food always comes out hot and fresh regardless of party size and on that note the food is AMAZING. I've never been disappointed in a single dish I've ordered. Atmosphere is a ten as well. The restaurant is always clean and orderly. The music is played at a reasonable level so as to be pleasant while still being able to hold a conversation. Appetizers (Tempura Jalapino, Gyoza) were good. Staff was friendly, attentive & courteous. Large menu selection. Their shortcomings: My wife ordered no peanuts or peanuts on the side. Waitress miscommunicated that to the kitchen. Very dangerous to give a patron peanuts when they ask for NO PEANUTS. I guess waitress was a bit overwhelmed. I ordered the "Miracle Beef". It fell a little short of miraculous. Some of the morsels of meat were tender and perfectly stewed and the others were overly stewed or reheated from the day before. You could feel the fibers in the meat were mushy and pulled apart. Either way, not acceptable for a $20 meal. If you want patrons to purchase the higher priced meals they should be perfect and memorable. The patron should relish and recommend the experience. All in all, I would go back if I were in the area. This would give them a chance to make a new impression upon me. BTW-Be careful with the spices. If you're not used to peppery heat make sure to order light pepper. We ordered medium. Most menu options are acquired tastes, which means maybe not the best option for younger children, but is amazing for older audiences. I ordered the chicken jalapeño and it was very good. Tokyo roll was fresh and flavorful, Panang curry was spicy but very good (brown rice is an option with no upcharge). I'd go back there just for the salad dressing...good ginger dressing, nice salad, perfect. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES!!! I've been going here for years because I thought the food they were making me was vegan. Apparently it was not. This whole time I've been eating fish and oyster sauce. I only found this out because the waitress I had wasn't the usual one I normally have, so I made sure to make it clear that I didn't want anything the comes from an animal in my food. She said they will have to make a special order because the normal sauce has fish and oyster sauce in it. She also said depending on if the cook was "Caucasian" or "Thai" would determine if they could even comply with such a request. On top of all of that, she said if I ever wanted to order this dish in the future I would have to come in when it's slow because it's such a hassle to make when it's busy! (Just what every customer wants to hear). The General Chicken which was pretty good, isn't when it's cold, mostly batter crumbs , and the sweet and sour is like jelly. The carrots were cut nicely but cold under the gooey mess. The food was okay. The seating needs redone as the table was awkward. My food was a little bland and oily but it still tasted okay. The server was not very attentive and a little judgemental. Fresh rolls were way too expensive and were described as having fried Tofu I assumed it would be small crispy bits which I can tolerate, what came out was huge chunks of Tofu which I do not like and for almost $10.00 I would expect at least shrimp or pork.
