I'm giving DTLA Maids five stars and here's why: DTLA Maids is a newish cleaning service in downtown. After reading some the reviews here I will honestly say I have experienced some of the growing pains too, however, every time I needed something more done or differently done I can always count on them to fix it. I've used DTLA Maids many times now. After having used many cleaning services over the years there are a couple of things that differentiate them from other services: 1. If the job isn't done right, they actually care when you let them know. I'm pretty picky and when someone else cleans my place. I'm the kind of person that can spend all day cleaning. So, when I'm done its spotless. To that extent, they've worked with me every time to make adjustments and get it right the next time. It's a process, always, with every service. I think everybody has different preferences. Like I want my dishes lined up straight in the cabinet when they're put away. It's nice when the glasses are in a row and matched up. 2. Communication: Full disclosure, I had a maid for many years and she spoke some English and I speak some Spanish. We worked it out but there were some subjects that I never even broached because it was to difficult. Some of you out there are bi-lingual but I'm not fortunate enough to be. I've had more in depth conversations about cleaning with the maids that come to my place and with the owners in the past few months than years with previous services. They even assigned a particular person to my place because we worked well together. All in all, when I choose the right service from DTLA Maids, e.g. Deep cleaning, Light cleaning, I really let it go and I need extra help cleaning I can let them know and it gets done how I need it. With their background in cleaning hospitals they understand what clean is. Let's face it, if we really wanted to do it right we would have someone come in at least three times a week or more and everything would be perfect. That's not what most of us do because most of us don't want to spend $700+ per month on cleaning. I use DTLA Maids once or twice a month and the communication and experience have kept my place clean and my experience a good one. read more

Booking process and service was great. The cleaner called when on the way (as promised), arrived exactly in the window of time that was requested, was professional and friendly, asked questions, and sent multiple pictures of what was done to my place. That being said, be aware that when you book a "light cleaning" (which they approximate at 2.5 hours) you are getting a "light cleaning" - not 2.5 hours of cleaning time. I misunderstood since I've used other cleaners that billed/booked by the hour. The cleaner was finished in just under an hour and a half, and my place was perfectly "light" cleaned. No more, no less. I'm assuming they would've charged more had he been there for more than 2.5 hours to do the same amount of light cleaning (like, if it had been dirtier to start with), but there isn't a refund if it takes less time. A-OK! if I could give 3 1/2 stars I would! My sister gifted me the cleaning service and included the floor scrub. I have hard wood floors and cats and can never seem to get the floors spotless. My sister made the arrangements for me and around 11:30a.m. I received a phone call from DTLA Maids letting me know they were on their way but hitting traffic as there was a parade going on and there were street closures. Totally understandable - happens to me all the time. So the scheduled time was 12:00 p.m. and they arrived at 12:50 (parking is difficult in my neighborhood). So they came in and got right to it. 2 ladies, super sweet, got started on the bathroom and kitchen and made their way around the apartment. 2.5 hrs later they said they were done and asked me to take a look around. I noticed the hardwood floors were very streaky and pointed that out to them. I suggested they use a product I have that has worked in the past because they looked worse than before. They gave it another go and 20 minutes later I checked again but the streaks were still there. I could write my name on it and see the difference in the sunlight. I pointed out that I could still see it and they agreed but I couldn't wait for them to try again as I had other commitments for the afternoon. I emailed DTLA Maids and explained that unfortunately I wasn't satisfied with the final work, considering my sister paid extra for the floor scrub. I also provided pictures to show the quality of work (they only dusted around the picture frames and items on the shelves). Their Customer Service was on point and they responded within minutes of my email. They offered to send another person and refund me the floor scrub as well as offer a discount for the next cleaning. The following Sunday the owner came over and introduced herself as well as her #1 employee, Destiny. Destiny is fantastic. She got started and left my place spotless - she really did a great job! Thank you Destiny for making my floors look amazingly shiny and able to walk barefoot again. In Summary: *2 stars for the poor work of the first job. :-( As well as inconvenience of having to take the time to schedule a second appointment to fix the first. *5 stars for the first team's friendliness and communication of running late as well as the communication of the customer service team and the work of the second team - Destiny. Would I call them back? Not sure, I would probably try another service first and maybe come back to them in the future. read more

My apartment was quite clean but I wanted a maid to do a deep clean on the oven and mop the floors. The maid was three hours late, so I had to arrange to have a friend let her in so I could go to work. When I got home, the floors were covered in dirty shoe prints and a greasy film and the entire place smelled like rotten dirty water. The bathroom smelled horrible like strong chemicals mixed with vomit and there was abrasive cleanser residue on everything. There were dirty, greasy streaks on all the surfaces. It legitimately was cleaner before the maid showed up. I paid for someone to clean my apartment. What I got is grime and germs from other people's homes coating every surface of my place and I need to clean and disinfect my entire apartment. I've contacted management asking for a refund because I don't trust them to send out a maid to correct the issue. Afterward, I asked my friend why the maid didn't clean the floors. She said, "She did, actually. She just used dirty rags. I could smell them and it smelled worse after she left." She did a good job on the oven, that's the only compliment I can give. read more

Eh. I was really rooting for this to work out because I want to support downtown businesses. I have concrete floors and it's not always easy to see dirt on the floor. Add to that a crawling baby who puts everything in his mouth and there's clearly a need. Enter DTLA Maids. I told them in our first phone call that I really wanted to focus on the floors. They recommended a package based on that, and I agreed. When they arrived, I reiterated that they floors were the most important. And while showing them around, one of the maids asked me about particular problem areas. I told him, "The floors: And to be perfectly honest, if you don't do anything else BUT the floors, I'll be fine." I'd like to think I was clear. Unfortunately, once I got home, I immediately found pieces of a glass that had broken the day before still littered around our chairs. I checked under the couch and there were clots of hair. I checked under the rug and there was tons of dust. That said, they did a great job getting the hard water stains off the faucets, cleaning the inside of the fridge, and the top of the stove. I let them know I was disappointed, and they offered 50% off the next cleaning, and said they "would personally ensure that your home is cleaned to your satisfaction." They also offered to come back immediately and fix their mistakes. I was hesitant, but hopeful. A couple months later, I called back. No one answered so I ended up booking 2 maids using their online service. I emailed them in advance to let them know I had booked the appointment online. So, I was expecting 2 maids and a supervisor. Instead, a lone maid arrived 30 minutes late. She apologized for being by herself, and promised to do the work of 2 people. Very nice, but I never got any explanation from DTLA Maids as to why this happened, or any apologies from the supervisor. A couple weeks later, I noticed my card had been charged full price for 2 maids. I reached out and they fixed it, but still offered no apologies, follow-ups on my cleaning, or remedies. It's unprofessional, and there are too many other people out there doing a better job for less. I've passed on them. read more

Love this cleaning service...I have them clean twice a month and my place is so clean & beautiful...Fantastic!!! You must get the deep floor cleaning service they offer..I had tried everything to clean my always dirty looking ...once white marble tile floors..even bought & returned a steaming machine when it did nothing. Only one cleaning from DTLA maids & my Loft floors returned as white, prestine, new/ clean as when I moved into the building when it first opened over 4 years ago!! They are miracle workers!!! Everyone in SB Tower lofts at 600 Spring should see my floors!! Like new!! I recommend DTLA Maids to everyone.. It's also incredibly affordable for the thorough job they do. We used DTLA for a much-needed deep clean for our 3,000 sq ft office space Downtown. They were happy to clean in the evenings or on weekends - whatever was convenient for us. I live downtown and so was pretty happy to find a local downtown maid service. Unfortunately, it didn't quite turn out as good as I had hoped it would. My apartment gets a lot of dust because of the extensive construction going on downtown and so I signed up for a 'deep clean' ( 2 maids) with dtla maids. The service was scheduled for 9 am Saturday and was estimated to take 2.5 hrs ( read small apartment ). Come 9 am no one shows up. I wait for 10 mins past and then call the company. They touch base with the maid and tell me they are on their way. Finally, the maids show up at 9:25, no apologies for being late. As I walked them through the apartment I told them that my critical problem was fine dust everywhere and so I needed then to thoroughly dust, vacuum furniture and mop. At this point I noticed that they had no vacuum. When asked one of them tells me that she forgot the vacuum in another car and so she will go over my apartment with a regular broom twice over. She even planned to use the broom on my furniture. I was really not pleased and so I called the office to complain that their maids had shown up with no vacuum. They were apologetic and told me that that they had an extra vaccum in their office downtown, one of the maids could come by right then and pick it up for use. The maids were not too happy to have to drive to the office because I had paid for parking for their car and if they took the car out they would have to pay for parking because I refused to pay 8 bucks a second time. So one of them decides to take a bus to the office. She returns after close to an hour with no vaccum. She told me there was no vaccum in the office. This was super puzzling since the office mentioned there was one. When I called the office again I was told some other maid had taken the vacuum and not returned it. The maids then suggested they could come back the same day or on Monday to complete the cleaning. At this point I was almost an hour and 45 minutes in and I could not move my afternoon plans and so I rescheduled for Monday, super productive use of my weekend I guess. As they were leaving they told me the bathroom and kitchen were clean, the kitchen looked ok, but the bathroom looked really bad, toilet bowl had water rings, the floor had hair on it that was not swept up and it smelt like old rag , I think they were using an old one to wipe stuff. When I complained they promised to take care of that when the came back on Monday. On Monday the maids show up ( a lil late), at least with a vacuum cleaner this time :). They cleaned for another hour and a half. When they claimed they were done I pointed out that the toilet was still not clean. One of the maids then took to cleaning the bowl with her hands ( no gloves ) and a steel wool scrubber( ugh!) . On further questioning I realized they had no toilet brush, so I had to get them to use mine. At the end of this saga, many many surfaces - lamps, table tops etc still had dust on them and I spent two hours after they left cleaning up behind them. I could have gotten them to go over everything again but I really didn't think they could get it right. This was by far the worst deep clean I have ever gotten done, a true cleaning nightmare. The maids had no idea what deep clean meant. They used supplies that I had for most of their cleaning - windex, paper towels, wipes. The rags they used to wipe down the bathroom actually made the room smell weird. Which professional maid service comes so unprepared to clean a house? It was so bad that it has prompted me to write in my first yelp review. I do have to mention a couple of positives - the dtla management was responsive to my concerns. At the end of the saga they refunded half of my 120 and odd payment. The maids themselves meant to help but they were just poorly trained. This is not a personal rant against any of them, it is just a review of the quality of work. I do hope they take this as a feedback to improve. But, I think I'm not ready to give them another chance just yet. read more

I LOVE DTLA Maids! I've hired and fired a bunch of cleaning services, including some well known names in the business. But finding DTLA Maids was a Godsend! I have a large loft in DTLA which gets dusty and grimy from all the elements and general loft living. It's a battle - but DTLA Maids are Dragon Slayers! It's so nice to have a clean home, and they never fail to do an excellent job. I have multiple cats - problem? Nope! They vacuum all the upholstery on chairs, couches, etc., clean and scrub every surface. And guess what? They're "Green" too! I don't have to worry about chemicals hurting my cats. They are so trustworthy. I've left cash out and they'll dust under it, and put it back. I truly can't say enough good things about them and have referred them to others. If you've seen any of my other reviews, you know I always tell the truth - good or bad! If you're thinking about trying them out - look no more! Do it! You'll love them, too! read more

My mom got me a cleaning from DTLA maids for my birthday and it was one of the best birthday gifts I've ever gotten. I have a dog that sheds a lot. I try my best but my work keeps me busy. My wife, who is a homemaker, insists on cleaning the house herself but she was getting burnt out with the 18 month old, so I decided to hire a high rated maid service to help her out. They scheduled us pretty quickly--which was a plus--on a Tuesday, when we called on the weekend. I should add that one of the reasons my wife likes to take care of the tasks herself is because she's extremely shy and she doesn't feel comfortable bossing people around. Anyway, I was at work and I told her to just take it easy because I ordered the Deep Clean (the more expensive option) and paid for the extra half bathroom. I told her that these guys are professionals and they'll take care of it. It turned out to be far from it. . . They sent one person, who spent a long time cleaning the upstairs bathroom. Now it was bad (hence the need for cleaning), but not that bad. Anyway, when she came downstairs, she said she was running out of time. Huh?? What does that mean? Meanwhile, I'm getting text messages at work, with updates. It turns out that the managing company or manager, whoever, didn't allocate enough time for the maid to complete the entire 900 sq. ft. loft. So, instead of calling them and making more time, she left to take care of another appointment. The rest of the house was literally only dusted. The bathroom that she spent an hour or so cleaning, the mirror had water spots along the bottom. The loft area is carpeted, no vacuum. The closet mirror was not cleaned. It still had baby hand prints on it. The windows in the house were not cleaned. The appliances in the kitchen were not wiped. The downstairs half bathroom, for which I paid extra, the faucet and drain still had water spots on them. After I got home, we called them back and said this was unacceptable. They said they'll send out someone again to make up for the deficiency. They came out again and this time, I had prepared a list for my wife to have them check off as they performed the task. The cleaning was better this time but not anywhere near professional. I didn't come home to a fresh smelling home. It was clean and my wife had to be on top of her the entire time, as if they don't know what needs to be cleaned. And, I just don't like the fact that we have to tell them or else, they'll just leave it half done. It's unfortunate too. I was hoping to establish a long term relationship because we're going to need help until the baby gets a little older. I'm going to look for a different service, next time. read more

I cannot recommend this cleaning service enough. When my wife and I saw the place we were subletting without anything on the walls or on the counters, our jaws dropped at the sight of the gunk and grime everywhere. We knew immediately that the job was not one for amateur housekeeping - we called DTLA Maids and ordered a deep clean. Two hours after the two "cleaning specialists" arrived, our place was shining like a piece of fine jewelry.
