Business brought me to Duluth the other week and while I was wandering around the downtown area in between meetings I saw a banner for "15 minute lunch guaranteed or it's free". I thought perfect, I'm hungry and in a hurry, so I stopped in to check it out. I was quickly greeted by a friendly server who sat me in a booth. I asked about the 15 minute lunch that I read about outside she informed me that sure enough, 15 minutes or its free. I ordered a sandwich and fries. It was promptly brought out in 10 minutes (I timed it just to be sure ;) ) The sandwich was nice and the malt vinegar on the table was nice to see. Quite impressed with the overall experience and it's hard to complain about a lunch served in less than 15 minutes for under fifteen bucks. Cudos to Dubh Linn Pub! read more

I thought that the burger I ordered was really gross, my friends dad and my friend thought that there food was ok and the decor was pretty good. It was kind of hard to find even on Superior Street. Lastly the chairs are way too close together to get in to a table easily. Over all I would rather find a different place to eat rather than return. read more

Great Irish faire at a good price. The corned beef is exceptional. The mashed potatoes are on another level.

This is a great new restaurant / pub addition to downtown Duluth. Service was wonderful and the foot delicious. This could pub could be a huge success, but seems doomed to fail due to behavior of the owner's son. My husband and I couldn't help but notice the way a man, upon questioning, it seems he is the owner's son, hovered over and seemed to almost grope the female waitresses. They were obviously uncomfortable - it would be wise for the owners to consider the risk this poses to their business. Not to mention, the work environment subjected to it's female employees. We felt uncomfortable for the staff. I hope this situation is corrected soon. read more

The fries are meh and need seasoning. The crostini app was very good. And the stew was fantastic. I'm sad I can't finish it.

Excellent service, people were really friendly, the food was great! They had live music, bingo and a HUGE selection of beers, and whiskey!

I wish I could say they have a wide selection of drinks, good food, or excellent service. But, the truth of the matter is we never even got that far. We walked in around 7pm on a Saturday night, the place was dead and we were seated in a corner for drinks and dinner. The hostess gave us menus (no drink list) and said our server would be with us shortly. So we waited. There was a server who came and chatted with a table a few yards away, twice! And they still didn't come over. We probably waited 15-20 minutes without even getting a glass of water. So we left. The chatty server from the other table said "Thanks, have a great night." Spent a couple of hours at the Dub Linn with some friends. The appetizers were delicious and everyone loved the micro-brews. Our waiter was attentive and so...courteous. We will be back. There are lots more items on the menu to try. read more

I could mention the quality of food being excellent, great service, or the crowd and atmosphere being perfect for anybody looking to meet new friends. That however is not unique in Duluth MN. what separated this place from its peers is the OUTSTANDING live performances, local comedy is my favorite, but it is definitely not the only great show to be seen here read more

We went here twice on our weekend trip to Duluth. The first night my husband had a flight of beers (supposed to be free because we checked in on Yelp but they actually charged us, we weren't too upset about it though). They were out of all but four of their own brews, which was disappointing. We both had the pico burger (on the specials menu) and it was delicious. Good fries too! The next night we came for drinks and an appetizer - Murphy's Morsels were good, but probably not worth the $12 for the small quantity. The service was a bit slow on the second night but everyone was friendly. The drink menu is more of a book and it's fun to look through their selection plus all the fun facts in there. The atmosphere is fun - love all the Irish decor. They had pool tables, darts, and shuffleboard as well as a jukebox. Overall, we might go back again if we were staying nearby, but probably wouldn't go out of our way to go here again. read more

Why can't you negative star? My past experiences with this establishment have been tepid at best. I once was charged either 24 or 26 dollars for one 14 year Caribbean Cask Balvenie Scotch, when the normal price in this town is between 8-13. I have had little or no service from multiple bartenders while sitting at the bar while watching them joke around and not do their jobs. Food has been hit or miss, but consistently a hit or miss so I guess they have that going for them. And when I inquired about their brewing practices, and dug into it a little further I found out in a world of Duluth strong and amazing craft brewers, this establishment isn't brewing ANYTHING. Not a drop. It's more of at relabeling practice (Bad Irish Pub! If I'm wrong, let the media in to prove it) But last night's experience at the Comedy Club prompted this review to be finally put to paper. My friend and I made a group reservation for the 9 pm show, she called twice for a total of 4 on our group, I called once bringing the total to 7. I confirmed the number with the man on the phone, as well as I said "we will be paying at the door" he said "ok, see you tonight"... (As he didn't ask anything else, I thought nothing of it). 2 of us arrive ahead of the group, hand the man at the door my card for free admission coupon I had and he informed me that our group was paid for. I asked him how? He said on a credit card, (which I didn't provide, and knew nothing about), I told him we were paying separate and his response was " I don't know, that's not my problem" (what?!) So we decide to be seated and wait for the group only to find out my friend had authorized her card to have 4 tickets put on it, but was charged for 8! The other 2 people in our group were ALSO charged on their card for themselves. Ok, now these things happen.. It can just be adjusted, right? When we brought it to this man's attention his response was argumentive, rude, confrontational, aggressive and horrible. After the show we again looked at her charges online and saw that during the show the business had credited and then recharged her AGAIN! When the man came up to us he again was even more aggressive, told me I was the problem for confusing the reservation when I called to add to the group, and that his son doesn't lie so it's our problem. A) YOU overcharged a debit card sir B) YOU double charged for 2 patrons C) YOUR son was told that our group was paying at the door, in fact I never knew my friend had even given her card in the first place. And D) on what planet do you live that accusing your customers of lying to you about something that is right in front of you is good business practice??? Oh by the way.. This "man" is also the OWNER of the establishment Mike Maxim. Go to Carmodys if you want a real Irish Pub experience and Zeitgeist for comedy, both places appreciate your business and your hard earned money spent with them. Food and service were great! We are not from the area so we asked for suggestions for a fun place to go have a few drinks and this was recommended. We are by no means OLD, but this is definitely a young, college bar! We were there on a Friday night about 9 and it was PACKED with super drunk young kids! We had drunk kids knocking into our tables, a guy get escorted out after getting into a small brawl with the manager! Just wasn't the place to have a relaxing few beers and a burger. Duluth is a college town, so it is to be expected I guess, but there definitely shouldn't be an option to get food in the bar that late on a Friday night! The music selection was good and the food really was delicious! When I voiced my concerns, I was offered to come back the next day for a beer on the manager...I passed! I could only imagine what a Saturday night in that place is like! Might be a good option early in the day, but I wouldn't go back anytime after 5pm! read more

Food was disappointing. Burger super basic without lettuce or tomato, mashed potatoes were cold, the reuben pretty tasteless, server was not knowledgeable about beer selection. Service was slow. After asking what the veggie burger is made off, I was presented with the ingredient cut out of a box. Overall, if you come with low expectations you'll be in a good place. read more

went in for lunch and to my surprise the food was actually really good for a bar. The potato salad tasted fresh with good flavor. And the burger was big and tasted great. The atmosphere can get a little loud but that is expected at a bar. I really liked the Maple microbrew that they make there... it was sweet but not too sweet. Not a fan of the potato stout though, a little too bitter for my liking. What is cool about lunch is that if you don't get your food in 15 min or less, its free but aside from that lunch is a little more on the expensive side. Maybe if it was just a dollar less I'd come back more. Overall I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for a good burger. read more

Every time I visit Dubh Linn's I have to order a Reuben. It's the best Reuben I have ever tasted, the corned beef is tender and juicy. And the beer battered French fries are to die for. One of the best things about this pub is that the staff is friendly and it has a small town, local bar feel. read more

Great place to come and hang out! The bangers and mash are the tops, and a great selectionof beer and whiskey(and whisky!). Last time I was there, I had a braised pork shank that blew my mind. Service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere felt like a real pub. I would definitely come back again. read more

Dubh Linn's is great if you like your corned beef sandwich made from cubed peculiar-tasting corned beef and your potato salad dry. My husband fared no better with a pork sandwich that was so sweet it was inedible. The service was pretty good, but the food is awful. I think this would be a good place to go for beer and appetizers, but definitely not a good place to go for a meal. read more

I recently moved back to Duluth and a family friend suggested we go to Dubh Linn for a pint and dinner. I was impressed enough with our experience that it actually motivated me to open a YELP account. When we got there my wife and I got a flight of beers that they brew on site. I am a big fan of brewpubs, and I was very impressed with the fact that the beer flavors were so clean and on point. The maple ale and the IPA were as good as it gets. For dinner we were both half expecting bar food (when we left town 6 years ago they didn't even have food), but we were pleasantly surprised. Upon further review the menu is definitely not bar food. The menu says they use local food providers and make everything from scratch on site (a plus in our book). I had the Reuben with beer battered fries and my wife had the Stew with fresh bread (both recommended by the staff). My Reuben was tender and delicious and the fries awesome. I didn't try my wifes stew, but she gave it a 5 out of 5 when asked about it. It was the best meal we have had since moving back to Duluth, and the atmosphere was cozy, inviting, and comfortable. Felt a lot like The Local in downtown Minneapolis. All of this was great, but it really wasn't the reason I decided to write this review. The friends who invited us out to eat both ordered burgers for dinner. One ordered it medium well and one ordered it medium rare. When the food came my friend realized he meant to order his medium well and had misspoken when he put in his order. He told the server it was his mistake and not to worry about it. The owner came over within 1 minute, took my friends burger and remade it no questions asked (even after my friend said it was his fault). They cooked him a brand new burger and had it out to him in 5 minutes. Now that's customer service!!! I used to work in the food industry, and you just don't see that often. We had a saturday night out at the comedy club a few weeks back, and I have to say we had a great time. We booked the comedy and made a dinner reservation to eat before the show. I had a burger and my fiance had the spinach artichoke dip. Both were great and our server made us feel right at home. The comedians were professional and played to the crowd well. After the show we stayed for a scotch (the bartender gave us a list of close to 100) and left feeling quite satisfied. Would recommend this place for a fun date night out from start to finish. read more

This place was disgusting. Absolutely filthy bathrooms, and food was horrible. The beer is ok, but way over priced for a brewery in Duluth. Bent paddle, fitgers, and lake superior all offer better beer for a better price. read more
