This place is perfect for good comfort food, the portions are large, the service excellent. This place is average......and the service is terrible. I had a friend go there on a date and the waiter was rude. At the end of dinner, the waiter asked my friend if he has seen the movie "Waiting" and to go watch it sometime. Come to find out, this movie is about a waiter ejaculating in people's dinner. This guy should be fired. I know that my friends, and my friends of friends all know about this and refuse to ever return. I met a colleague here for after work drinks on a bitterly cold Thursday night. I never really go out anywhere in this almost-Viagra-Triangle area, but this place served its purpose as a shelter from the below-zero temps. The service was prompt--nothing special, but we knew we were being looked after. I opted for the cheeseburger; the patty was consumed by the oversized bun and somewhat bland. The waffle fries made me very happy, and there were a ton of them. My friend had the fish n chips and seemed content. Both meals were reasonably priced and I wasn't expecting too much so I wasn't disappointed. We also each had two beers. The music (rock, almost too loud) was playing and a Bulls game was on.I would never go out of my way to be here, and I don't know what it's like later in the night, but as a place to grab a bite in the area it was fine. read more

The atmosphere was great, we sat right next to the grill and it was great since it was 13 degrees outside. They had Hoegaarden on tap, which is was a nice touch for an "irish" pub. After a night of bar hoping and drinking we stumbled upon Dublins while looking for some breakfast at 2am. The place was packed....!! But, we were able to get a seat within 15min and the food / service was pretty decent. I will remember this place when I am in the area and looking for late night grub. read more

For a Saturday night, this was one of few places in the area that didn't have an hour wait. Rather than take that as a sign that it mustn't be good eating, we decided to give it a try. Our food was delicious (our table ordered a fish fry, a steak sandwich, and a burger) all of it was great! Our server was on top of things and kept us in the loop (explained that the kitchen was busy but that it would be out soon) and our beverages were never less than half full before we were offered a refill or another drink etc. Glad we went here, liked the open kitchen, you could see the cooks busy at work, the service was awesome, and the location was great. For a hole in the wall bar, this place is out of this world! And I'm not usually a hole in the wall bar type of gal. The food is awesome. The other reviews are right - the scallop salad is amazing and HUGE. And let's face it, when ordering a pile of lettuce, it better be sizable. Good location, on the triangle. One of the few cheap places in that location. When the weather is nice, the small outdoor patio is a good seating option. Also, the grilled (yes, grilled not deep fried) calamari with mango salsa is delish. And finally, in the winter, Dublin's has a super dark, cozy, candlelit feel to the place. This place always holds a solid spot in my roster of casual restaurants - highly recommend going here if you don't want to worry about getting dressed up or doing anything fancy. The mushroom and shrimp appetizer is an absolute must and the chicken tenders with honey mustard are highly recommended. My friend and I came here because we were looking for a cheap(er) place to hang out in the area while we were waiting for a friend. Most restaurants in this area are upscale, or overpriced in my opinion, Dublin is one of the more reasonable restaurants in the area, still not the best of priced, but better than surrounding restaurants. They have a decent food and rink selection. It's your typical bar food, and your Irish selections. They are reasonably priced considering the heavy pour they give with their mixed drinks. They have outdoor seating which is great on a nice day. The service was overall mediocre. For the area, probably one of the better priced venues, but compared to other like venues not my favorite. read more

I have lived in the "Gold Coast" neighborhood for 6 years, and I pass by Dublins Pub almost daily. They are always packed with the rich elitist clientele of my neighborhood. I ventured out for a "nice" meal today, since the weather was the most accomadating it has been in at least 7 months. Me and my friend decided on going to Dublins for our last minute lunch on the town. I originally wanted to go to Hunt Club accross the street, but since they didn't have one person dining there I thought it safe to go to the over crowded elitist Dublins Pub for my $14.00 romaine salad. I have been to Dublins before and have had less than par experiences.(especially for the price), but my friend reasured me he comes here all the time for the Salmon Salad. We walked in and were greeted by a yelling voice from somewhere behind the bar (the manager) telling us to sit whereever we wanted. Being that as soon as it hits 65 in chicago all the rich people sit outside, we took a nice table inside, even though we were cornered in by strollers from single wives who obviously didn't have to work this day or the rest of the month. The waitress came around and asked us for drinks, I ordered a Ketel One Bloody Mary, and he just ordered water. She stepped off after we ordered our drinks and after she yelled my drink order to the manager (they must like yelling), without even acknowledging she heard the correct order...This is where it started to go totally down hill. I finished 2 bloody marys before our appetizer came. When we were 4 chip scoops from the bottom of the dip bowl, my friend took his fork and scooped up a yellow , brown, and black blobbish thing and asked me what I thought it was. Fellow Chicagoians, I have taken food safety for previous management positions I have held in the city and I can safely tell you that I have never seen a yellow "rolly polly beatle" with 8-12 legs come out of a bowl of spinich artichoke dip, but sure as s*%# here it was. We promptly showed the waitress and I watched her bring it back to the yelling bartender/manager/line cook and saw him curse and throw the fork down and ramble off something too her. Our salads came and I have never been so afraid as I was then to eat a seared scallop in my life. My fears were verified when I cut open a scallop all the way (which already had cut marks in it from the chef to ensure doneness) to find it almost like pink jello towards the opposite end. I assure you there are other places in the city like Hugo's Frog Bar or Tavern on Rush, to get a good $14.00 salad and not be afraid of bugs or food poisioning. Dublins should be condemmed. I will be tipping off the chicago health inspector to this occurance and hope they have a serious wake up call before re-opening for business. read more

This is one of my favorite places. Food is really good, not to pricey considering the location and really delicious. I go over there every little while and I'm really enjoying it. They have amazing seafood pasta and great burger. Stake salad was good as well. The only thing I'm giving them 4 is their bus boys can be annoying sometimes. I know the place is crowded most of the time but just let the people finish their dinner. I hope they will improve this otherwise everything else is really good. read more

It's a fun place to grab a beer and a bite late nite and do some serious people watching. The foods not bad - comes right off that big grill in the middle of the room and tastes just fine about 3 am. Lively, hectic bar that always feels packed no matter when I've gone. Bartenders have been great from my experience. The food is pretty standard bar food, although my girlfriend swears by the corned beef and cabbage. I had 2 great dishes. The lentil soup was probably the second best in Chicago. Considering that I do a lot of lentil and the best one was the best I ever had anywhere, this was good soup. I had the blackened scallop salad. I did not need the avocados in the salad but the dressing was fine. It was almost as good as a chopped salad. I did not leave even a leaf. The bread they serve with it is wonderful. It is very close to some very expensive restaurants and they are just mid range priced. The people serving were excellent. I don't know who is training the wait staffs in Chicago but I got back in May and am impressed that all of Chicago is full of professional, friendly and helpful wait staff. I should only comment if I find a rude one. You will not find one here. A customer told me about how excited the customers get during games. That makes this an authentic Irish place.
