On December 27th 2025 I was not allowed into this establishment because I was wearing a Chicago Bears hat. I stopped-in to watch the Packers. The Bears weren't even playing! The guy behind me was turned away for wearing White Sox gear. How do you know he's not a Packers fan? Are you kidding me? Rivalries are supposed to be fun. I was in town this week for work, and had a chance to pop in here and have dinner, most of the time I am here I end up only drinking, but this visit I was so busy with meetings I didn't have any food all day so I went with the cheese curds and a Reuben, recommended by the great guy who greets folks at the door. He was not lying- the sandwich has an amazing balance of corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss- then they go one step further and mix it all up with the Thousand Island dressing so it's a perfect bite, every ingredient, every time. The cheese curds came with a dill aioli, and marinara sauce. I was hooked on the aioli, nice way to cut back on the richness by using acidity and herbs. Cameron was my server, and Jessica was behind the bar. Both were awesome! Full disclosure, I went last night again, this time to meet up with friends before flying home. Jimmy was back from vacation and he's a rock star. Manages to keep everyone with a full glass and just good to chat with when he's not so busy (sorry I got so talkative Jimmy!) The entire group here is great. Makes it feel like family when you're here. I left Chicago 5 years ago but I feel like I never left when I'm here at O'Leary's. What a cool little Irish bar. We had dinner in the area and wanted to bar hop a bit. We stumbled across this spot and went in. The service was excellent. Very attentive and very nice! They have tvs in there with football on. This place is the quintessential irish bar. We only had one drink and then moved on to another spot. I came in with my trained service animal, which I clearly explained at the door due to my heart condition. We were there for over 30 minutes with no issues. Then out of nowhere, a man who claimed to be the manager stormed up to us and demanded we leave "RIGHT NOW." He insisted my dog was "not trained" -- despite having absolutely no basis to make that determination. The level of ignorance and discrimination here is honestly unbelievable. To make it even more unprofessional, this manager was wearing a hat that literally said "respectfully, fuck off." That's the energy he approached us with: aggressive, dismissive, and completely uninformed about ADA guidelines or service animal rights. Yes, my dog briefly got excited to see his cousin -- but any staff trained in disability accommodations would know that this does not mean a service animal is untrained or grounds for kicking someone out. This entire interaction was hostile, discriminatory, and handled with zero respect for disabled patrons. No person with a medical condition should be treated this way in a public establishment. read more

As Steelers fans, we're always down to enjoy a game with anyone playing the Bengals, Browns, or Ravens. We enjoyed a win against the browns at Hopsmith and made the decision to check out O'leary's for the Packers/Bengals game. However, after walking the distance, we discovered that O'leary's is a bit discriminatory against non-Packer fans. Initially, we were turned away by a guy at the front stating it's a "private party" however, when asked again he stated "this bar is just for packers fans"... last I checked, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Max and I love this bar! Jim, the owner, is quite the comedian. We stumbled upon it by accident. My giddiness took over when I looked at the bourbons and I saw Weller. I ask the barmaid if she knew how to make the best Old Fashioned. She called the master of the bar for assistance. That's where Jim comes in. I knew he was a professional because he didn't even measure my drink. That's when he showed me the Handcocks! Damn. I wish I knew that before he poured the Weller. We just tried to enter with one person in our group wearing a Cowboys jersey and were denied service, even though we were there with a Packers fan in full Packers gear. We're all friends and clearly get along and don't have a problem with each other rooting for different teams. He refused, even after our friend was going to put a sweatshirt on. He was extremely rude to boot. Our friend isn't really even a football plan, she can't even name a Cowboys player, but she used to live there and thought it would be fun to wear a Cowboys shirt. Ambiance: My friends and I came here after eating at the Diver cause we weren't ready to end the night yet. Plus, there was a snow storm on this late January day. It's conveniently located across the street. Just a usual sports bar interior, nothing too flashy or fancy. Service: Our waitress was great! She was welcoming and attended to us fairly quickly. Drinks: Not too much I can say about this since we all ordered hot Irish Whiskeys and K and I don't like whiskey or coffee. Oops. My friend (who likes coffee) said she liked it. Giving this place 4 stars mostly for the service. They let everyone stay as long as they could because a lot of us were trying to call rideshares and with the snow storm, it took us at least 30 min to get a ride. The bartender was such as cool guy, our two beers turned into about four or five....each. Bartender was super knowledgeable about mixed drinks, beer, and anything else behind the bar top. Also, he's super knowledgeable about music, as he schooled me on some music facts while there. We had such a good time, we went back the next night, and had an equally awesome time. Terrible service and terrible food/drinks. First of all, they served me wine that was expired months ago. When I kindly asked the bartender for a new glass, he said "well you're at a pub what do you expect?".... How about you don't offer wine on the menu in the first place? The bartender laughed at me as if this was my problem, lol. Anyways, I decided to go back today because it's local to my apartment and I was wanting a beer. The servers were incredibly rude to my boyfriend and I when we asked about tables and getting some water. The waitress with the red hair yelled at me for serving myself water when it was very unclear whether that was the patrons job or the server (many bars in Chicago have a water station you go to yourself). She could have easily just been nice about it and could have told me she would serve me herself. There's also garbage everywhere especially in the outdoor seating area (see photo.... Gross! Pick it up if you're going to be rude to your patrons at least). This establishment is a joke and I would highly recommend not wasting your money. In from Madison, WI we stumbled on this place to start a little day drinking when we arrived on Friday to start a weekend of shenanigans for St. Patrick's day 2023. The bartender Joe was awesome!!! He treated us so well we ended up spending the weekend at this bar! The food was awesome! Drinks, for Chicago, we're reasonably priced. The festivities on St Patrick's day included tons of fun stuff including a bad pipe musician. Definitely stop for a visit and tell him Donna Mae and Victoria from Madison said hello. read more

2 minutes ago Walked past here yesterday afternoon and noticed outside seats available with tiny warming heaters so I decided a burger and fries would warm me up! My female server was outstanding and for the amount of customers she had I was deeply impressed with how quick she was with every customer's needs. She was on the ball constantly checking in with each person and asking if anyone needed more rounds of alcoholic beverages. I only wanted a good burger (not alcohol) and because it was nippy out I ordered a hot cocoa to keep my hands warm. The burger was extremely juicy and I chose blue cheese for an additional amount; but the bun wasn't anything extraordinary. My hot chocolate was meh...and it ended up costing $4 which to me is a bit high especially since my burger was around $10 and came with excellent fries. Please understand I'm a foodie so if I'm going to pay $4 I'd like an above average tasting hot chocolate with choice of milk base and a higher grade of drinking chocolate. It would also be nice if you can upgrade to a better bun and toast it too. Kudos to my server who kept returning to my table frequently to make sure I was ok even though I was dining alone. She did a great job of serving each person and Cleaning each table and seat after people left. This is a wonderful pub to get an excellent tasting burger at a very reasonable price and it's nice sitting outside for as long as our fall remains temperate. read more

I'm updating my review from before, I gave 5 stars then and 10 years later, I'm still a 5-star review for O'Leary's. This was one of the first places I found when I moved to Chicago that everyone was friendly, the service was good, and the food is well above what you would expect from a small pub. I saw another review from a patron by the name of Paw, I was there the night he decided to bash this place, his main objection...he didn't want to pay for the drinks HE ORDERED. Also, questioning someone's sobriety is low class, like really low class. I have known Jimbo since I started coming to the Pub and I'll admit, we tied a few on back in the day. I haven't seen Jimbo touch a drink in 4 years now, I have however seen him help friends who aren't on the wagon out if they got too drunk and needed a ride or someone to help them make it home safe. I'll keep coming back, even if they play the Packers games instead of my beloved Raiders, they do always make sure I have a TV to watch my team. read more

Had two friends visiting from out of town, one being a huge packers fan. I was wearing my eagles shirt and found this place and wanted to go so my friend could watch the game. I walk up to the front door and get ready to show my ID to the bouncer and another service boy or bar tender walks up and tells us to get out, no eagles fans. I've been to eagles bars in philadelphia and seen cowboys fans and giants fans. In Chicago, not even Green Bay, getting turned away was ridiculous. He was rude and told us to get out and go somewhere down the street. So much for the midwestern nice I've heard so much about. I love this place! My friends and I are packers fan who recently moved to Chicago and we've been to Olearys for 4 or 5 games this season. The inside is incredibly cute and cozy and the entire staff treats you like family! They give us hugs and high 5s when we come in. The energy is so fun during games and the drinks and food are super reasonably priced. They raffle off jerseys and gift cards for free every game. My friends and I all bought T shirts from here because we adore this place! read more

This is a pleasant pub. I didn't get any food, but there is menu. The beer is reasonably priced. The patrons are friendly. They have Guinness on tap. There have a juke box. The older male bartender is friendly, but highly distracted. I sat at the bar and My beer glass was empty for up to a half hour while he visited with people. He also poured another of my Guinness and let it sit for twenty minutes. (I wouldn't want to be the owner as the bar lost lots of sales). Luckily, I wanted to drink slow anyway.
