Disappointed. I was so excited for Dublin Pub to reopen, and my first night back was true disappointment. What happened to the original menu? Dublin Pub is known for its Reuben and that's only on the lunch menu? Why? Welp- this place was a miss. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip to start- it came with store bought pita chips and was not the best dip we've ever had. Not terrible just not great either. I ordered the spinach salad with grilled chicken- it said it came with a warm bacon dressing which sounded delicious. Instead it was served with a cup of cold Mayo based dressing that was so thick that I turned the cup upside down and nothing came out of it. It tasted just like Mayo - disappointing. My fiancé got a cheeseburger with fries and it was just ok with a stale bun. Our waters were DISGUSTING- not drinkable- I've never tasted tap water this bad- it tasted like cleaning fluid. I understand that it was busy before a show at Mayo arts, however, they were very understaffed for a busy time. The waitress was doing her best, but could not handle the volume of tables that she was given, by herself. My friends ordered burgers medium and medium rare, and they both came well-done and overcooked. my boyfriend had a black bean burger and he said it was dry and probably some frozen premade thing and was not good. Always enjoy coming here when in the Morristown area for years. Either sitting at the bar or at a table, you always get very friendly service. Definitely, no stuck up service here. The pub has has all Irish decor. Check out my pics. Last Saturday evening, I came here for an early dinner before the Alan Cumming performance at the Mayo Performing Arts Center which is only around the corner. Ordered a glass of Fume Blanc along with super delicious baked scrod with au gratin potatoes. The fish is always a reliable choice here. For dessert, I ordered a delicious warm Apple Crisp with vanilla cream :) I understand in the warmer weather, patio seating is available. Dublin Pub is a friendly place for all. read more

It's a great place if you are going to a show at the theater across the street and want to eat close by. It was a busy night and although the service is friendly it was really slow. We saw a lot of plates go by and both my wife and I both remarked how blasé it all looked. When we finally got ours (a burger for her and a salad for me) it tasted about as good as it looks. It's a standard run of the mill Irish pub in Morristown. Coming in from NYC, it's easily accessible by train. I met up with some friends as our alma mater is near by. Proximity to the green is also a plus. Their food is a bit meh. I've never really been a fan of it, but we usually go here as it's easy to get to for the group. And we all know where it is. Anyway. I went in the summer, and we ate on the patio. It's very nice. I do have to say thank y'all though, for an Irish place, they should be ashamed by their burgers. My burger - the Irish paddy melt - sounded good on paper. Pepper jack and cheddar with grilled onions and avocado on rye toast. It was very bland. My colleague got fish and chips, and it looked amazing. I'll be back so I'll try that next time haha. read more

Friday night, place was packed but thankfully we had reservations, (which was quite painless). Got right in. The waitstaff were great. Fish and chips were the best I've had in a long time. Son had the bangers and mash, he made them disappear in quick order! Great meal before going to a concert at MAYO PAC around the corner. Definitely recommend! read more

There is a sign outside Dublin Pub stating that it is celebrating its 35th year in business so you know that a lot of people have been enjoying this place for a long time. It is the most authentic Irish pub that I have seen in this area. As soon as you get close you can hear the Irish music from inside. They have a full selection of all of the menu items that you would associate with an Irish pub. I have eaten there 3 or 4 times now and the food has always been good. They can handle groups. I went there today with a bunch of co-workers and they put us in a back "party" room. One of my co-workers ordered the Reuben for lunch and it was massive. It is an open-faced sandwich that literally takes up the entire plate. I had a chicken sandwich, which I enjoyed. The chicken was good and the roll was fresh. Another co-worker ordered the fish and chips and enjoyed that as well. They also have a good selection of beers on tap. Another nice feature is that they have an outdoor patio. Also, They had a live band (playing irish music of course) when I went on a Thursday night a few months back and I belive they also have live entertainment/bands Fri & Sat nights as well. read more

Food is eh. Place is dark and depressing. They are so disorganized. They offer people jobs and then never call them. Time to retire.

So we had a very bad experience today. The place was kind of dead and there was no reason for the mistakes. First off our apps and salads came at the same time as our entrees and everything was ice cold. Hot open Turkey with gravy and fries. Fries were ice cold and turkey was cold. Unacceptable. It was sitting out a while because the gravy was congealed. Turkey club with fries and gravy. Ice cold fries and gravy was flat and congealed. Bangers and mash. The mash potatoes were ice cold and the onion rings were cold as well. The bangers were ok. Nothing to write home to Ireland about. Or Morristown. The blue cheese wedge was excellent but it was brought out two minutes before our main course. The beer was good but this place was a total disappointment. Would skip and try a different place. They have five Irish bars in the area and to serve three cold dishes and miss on each one is not acceptable. One of the managers Lee came over and took the drinks (two sodas and a beer). I accidentally left my pull-over down jacket in a dining room when our party moved to the bar after dinner. When I went back to retrieve it a half hour later (as the bar was closing and I was waiting for my car service), the chairs where turned over and my jacket was gone. I immediately asked the waitstaff if they had seen my pull-over jacket, and they immediately said no, there was no jacket. This made it very obvious to me that one of the three staff members left had taken it, since there were no other patrons in the dining area and they did not even offer to look for it. I'm 100% sure someone who works there stole it. The people running this place are trash. If anyone sees someone that works here wearing a black down Patagonia pullover with purple and teal stitching, snap a picture and message me. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I absolutely would. We came into this pub with a big group and everyone ordered drinks. We were all having a great time. We were there for a couple hours or so with zero issues until last call came and one of the guy bartenders came up to the table we were sitting at and started to harass us and just spoke to us in such a rude manner. I asked him not to speak to us like that and especially not to one of my friends who had just walked in maybe 30 minutes prior. He responded back to me in such a nasty tone saying he didn't care. He then told us "let's go outside!" and starting yelling at us! This man was ready to fight us for no reason at all. I understand if you had a long day or a even a bad day. Trust me, I used to bartend until 4am. I know what a long day feels like. But never would I ever speak to customers that way. We were there ordering drinks, paying, and having a great time at the establishment. I hate giving bad reviews, but can't bite my tongue here, as this place has gone downhill. When I moved here to Morristown 5 or 6 years ago, this place was really good, and very popular. Nowadays, it's just bad. As other reviewers have said, the beers on tap always taste funny, they have trouble making easy drinks, and the food has taken a turn for the worse. It really is a shame, as this place has potential...little Irish bar/restaurant with nice small outdoor patio, in a great location, nice U-shaped bar, etc. Clean taps out, and upgrade the quality of food...would love to see this place return to it's old self. read more

I went here on a cold winter's night to meet up with friends. First, the waitress was great. Very attentive, friendly and fast service. The food? It was ok. Nothing outstanding. I would say it was pub food. Basic food, nothing fancy. My friends ordered a pepper (poivure to be exact) burger with fries, fish and chip with fancy fries and I got the turkey club. Sigh........ok. The burger got a thumbs up. The fish and chips not so good (not sure why) and my sandwich was a tad dry. No mayo on the side. It was good but just something missing and I think it was a side of mayo. I also got a dab of coleslaw on the side which was good but not a lot of it and the fries were ok. I finished them the next day along with the sandwich. I mean it was ok. With all the new and fancy restaurants in Morristown these days, not sure that this is a go to place but it's ok food and the help is nice and I am sure that St. Patrick's Day draws a huge crowd. BTW, there is apparently outdoor eating here in the nicer weather along with a private (very small) parking lot. Who knew? read more

The rare restaurant in town that cares about interesting beers. Of course they have Guinness, Harp and Smithwick on tap (as well as those major brands that claim to be beer), but they also rotate a nice selection of other high-quality brews on tap, as well as in bottles. The food is decent - sometimes very good - but you don't come here for a gourmet experience (although the rosemary and lemon roasted chicken is quite good), you come here for the atmosphere, the burgers, the beer and the people-watching. Originally planned to go to Brick Oven up the street, but it was packed so we figured 'we like Blackthorne and Thatchers, let's give this place a shot.'. And that's the last time I'll mention them all in the same sentence again. So it's a slow Monday night and the place us fairly empty...not sure if it was the night or the place, but the place was nice enough. The hostess seemed to have trouble figuring out where to seat us (why I can't imagine since only two tables were being used), and then once we were seated it took about five minutes for the waiter to come ask us for our drinks. He was nice enough, but not overly enthused. Not awful, but there were 3 tables being used and another waitress was working one of them...it's not like he was overworked. Anyway, once our drinks came the guy took our orders-I ordered a cup of onion au gratin soup and the Dublin burger (1/2 pound burger with Irish Cheddar and mushrooms and for another $1.50 I got lettuce, a tomato slice and maybe 15 fries) and my two kids order penne with vodka sauce and grilled chicken. Let me start by saying that my burger was pretty good...it needed a little salt, which is fine, but it was good. The extra I paid for fries was ridiculous as almost every decent place includes fries with the price...which now shot to $11. I can't believe it started at 1/2 a pound, but for arguments sake we'll say it did. This was in no way an $11 meal. Nope, no way. Again, tasted pretty good, but for $11 I don't want pretty good, I want to be wow'd. My cup of soup was very tasty, but, and I say this with scary hesitation, there was actually too much cheese (gasp! Jaws drop, babies cry...did he really say that?!?). Here's my other problem with this meal. Both my kids ordered the penne vodka, one if their favorite meals-probably had it at 10 different places-always a nice pink creamy sauce with nice slices of grilled chicken. Now, if you read that again you'll notice that I don't mention peas. Maybe I'm taking my kids out to the odd places in NJ and NY but I've never, ever, seen penne vodka with peas (little disgusting green balls of ick). I don't want to be an ass, but if you're a waiter and two kids order penne vodka, you HAVE to know that A) most places don't serve it with peas and B) most kids hate peas. Why the hell wouldn't you mention the friggin' peas?!?! You should have seen their faces when their food came. All this pea talk aside, the vodka sauce wasn't what I've come to expect from a vodka sauce, and the kids didn't like it. The chicken was a chopped up mess-no tender, tasty slices just chopped up chunks with little flavor of their own. Overall their meals weren't good. I started this review with a three star rating in mind, then thought a two. I mean I have had better-better soup, better burgers (especially for the price), better penne vodka, and better service, but I don't like ot hammer a place over one meal unless it is truly awful...and this wasn't awful so I'll grudgingly give them three stars...this is clearly a case of needed a half-star system as it really deserves 2.5 rather than three... read more

For the last 3 years I have been exploring the best Irish Pubs on the eastern seaboard from Florida to New York, so when I got a chance to meet a friend halfway between his residence and mine in Morristown, I was happy to pick the Dublin Pub as our rendezvous (need less to say that the reviews from my fellow yelpers were instrumental in the decision making process). So let me start by saying that the Guiness Pour was quite good, I wouldn't call it excellent, as I like to see the Guiness settling in front of me after the pour (that way I can tell how truly fresh the pour is), and they brought a settled Guiness to the table. My second complaint is that a good Irish pub never lets you sit without a fresh pint when you are at the end of one, and here I had to get the server's attention to ask for a second pint. In my book this alone would lose them a star, but I decided not to hold them to such exacting standards. As for the food it was decent, I ordered the Dublin grilled chicken without the bacon and I was served a Dublin grilled chicken with bacon, I guess I will chalk it off to shoddy service. My wife got a Steak salad which was also average, clearly not worth going back for. Finally, the service left a lot to be desired, considering we went in when it wasn't busy their lack of attention and speedy service makes them lose big. Overall, I believe that the place was ok, not worth a second visit from me. Currently, my favorite Irish pub would still have to be The Cottage in Teaneck, NJ, go check it out. read more

Truly great establishments don't need to be referred to by their full names. Tell someone that you are going to the Met, and they immediately know what you are talking about. For decades, the Dublin Pub has existed in this rarefied air in Morris County. Tell someone that you want to grab something at "The Pub", and they know you are talking about the Dublin. I have been going to this place since I was 21. Credit the Mongey family with making constant improvements to the place. They add rooms, outdoor seating, and menu items each and every year. Even with all the improvements, the Dublin Pub excels at the staples of Irish bars: good beer and great pub grub. They have an excellent selection of beer on draft including Boddingtons. On my most recent visit back east to visit my parents, I stopped by the Pub to show my girlfriend what a real Irish pub was like. I was dismayed to learn that they no longer served John Courage on tap. I know that Boddingtons and Courage are Blighty beers, but they can co-exist with the Smithwicks that Jim Mongey now has on tap as well. If you're hungry, do yourself a favor: order the fish and chips. I crave the Pub's fish and chips whenever I am away from the old stomping grounds. The nacho platter is also excellent. The decor is pitch perfect with a lamppost from Dublin and an awesome wall sized photograph of a Dublin street. There is a jukebox in the main room that cranks out a great selection of Van Morrison tunes and Chieftains classics. I miss the Dublin Pub, and I'm glad that it is still there every time I go back to Jersey. read more
