I haven't been to the Dublin Pub in a few years but I miss it so much that I wanted to give it a shout out. As an aside, did I really just say "shout out"? What, did I get transported back to 1998? Having lived on Perry St. for a few years the Dublin was my favorite watering hole. How can you not love living in a house that is within a four minute walk to a place like the Dublin Pub? I live in SoCal and you can't walk ANYWHERE out here. Anyway, Dublin has all the normal beer and liquor choices. If you are eating, try the fish 'n chips or the Dublin Chicken sandwich. The Dublin Chicken rocks. It is grilled chicken with bacon and honey mustard on the side. At least it used to be!!!! Gosh, I miss Morristown sometimes. read more

During our last week in Morristown, our attending doctor took me and the other students out for drinks. His place of choice is Dublin Pubyour - standard Irish bar & restaurant, which I actually like and will take most days over a rip-off, fancy NYC bar or lounge. The décor is what you'd expect, lots of wooden furniture, with a sit down side and more of a bar hangout side with high tables. We actually came here on Halloween and they (and other Morristown establishments) had large bowls of candy for trick or treaters - at a bar, either cute or creepy. Food here is slightly above average for standard bar fare. I liked the buffalo chicken wings and boneless wings (but I'm usually biased in favor of these), Jalapeno Poppers (not too spicy if you're afraid), and the Bloomin' Dublin Rose (seriously, who doesn't have a version of the awesome blossom these days?!). The selection of beer here is pretty average, with all your bar standards, and I'm about to contradict myself by saying that the availability of bars with delicious craft beers in NYC has spoiled me, and I don't really enjoy most of the old standards anymore, but the Sam and Guiness still hit the spot. Our waitress, dressed in a child-size batman outfit, was pretty sassy, but in a cute, friendly, not surly way. She was pretty attentive to when we wanted to get more drinks or food. The place and bathroom were pretty clean. If you need a spot for a simple, no frills beer to hang out with buddies, Dublin Pub does just fine. read more

Food: had the chicken pot pie which is the filling in a bowl topped by a puff pastry. The filling was chicken, potatoes carrots and scallions. I actually liked the scallions flavoring the pot pie. I would have preferred the pot pie to have a nice crisp buttery crust. read more

I dig the Dublin pub because they have Soda Bread, solid Irish beers, and a tiny stage for live music. I went there on a rainy St. Patrick's Saturday and ate and drank it up, having a grand old time. During the day it's kind of kid friendly. On St Patrick's Saturday they hooked us up with some Irishy trinkets - not that that made it more authentic, but it was still a nice gesture. The dude's bathroom is wacky and close. I believe you cannot access the second stall if someone's in the first stall, which means you might be trapped if you're in the second and someone;'s going for a while in the first. Maybe I was just too drunk. No matter what...I felt closer to my fellow restroom users afterwards. I had a corned beef sandwich there that was nothing to brag about, but they retain 4 stars until I try the corned beef and cabbage and am not impressed. I enjoyed my Fish and Chips one time also. Place is a give or take. Arrived with a friend around 12:15 AM. We asked one of the male servers if we can sit outside. He was very nasty, and said, "YES YOU CAN SIT OUTSIDE." The female server who looked a lot like Lea Michelle was cute. 12:30 AM came along, and while my friend and I were talking they announced it was last call (what a pub on a friday night in morristown closes early??!?!). The server said her shift ended ten minutes ago, and please close out the check. Once we finished our drinks we asked if we can sit for a while, and she said, "We wanna go out drinking too, and when the lights go out don't mind us" So weird! We were rushed out. They were more worried about drinking/money than the patrons who actually want to relax after work, and catch up with friends. read more

The positives: My cosmopolitan was very good (although $$ at $11.00), another diner had fish and chips that were also very good. The negatives: We must have just gotten them on a very bad day. It was not that busy yet we waited well over an hour for our meals. It took that long to get 2 burgers, and each of them was wrong-the hamburger was as rare as any burger I could imagine and probably was not safe for consumption. That was my husband's burger, the one he ordered medium. The other one was a cheeseburger-only they forgot the cheese. The poor kid who ordered it was disappointed that it had to go back. One of our orders-a bowl of french onion soup, went to the wrong person and had to be exchanged, the other person who ordered a cup of soup got hers last after everyone had finished eating, and this was all she was going to have for her meal. The only way that I can accurately describe how awful the service, food and atmosphere was is to confess that for the first time in our lives, we left a zero tip. We hated to do it and it was a gut wrenching decision, but I felt that we were just treated badly and with contempt. It is hard to watch your family to be treated that way. We don't get together that often. The point is we were the ones spending the money and we did not feel like guests, we felt like we were intruding. Bangers and mash were good, but what is it with the onion rings on top? The onion rings were actually pretty good, so I pulled them off and ate them first. I've been here before and had decent burgers. Not too expensive so I don't expect a lot. Service has always been prompt and friendly. Beer selection is a bit of a disappointment if your a craft beer fan, but you can usually find something worth drinking. read more

SO and I decided to take a walk around Morristown today and we were on the street so I figured we'd check this place out, me being part Irish and him being mostly Irish. I don't mind the inside at all, though it had sort of weird smell that I got used to rather quickly. I got the "famous" 1/2 lbs Dublin burger; he got the shepherd's pie. Both were ok. I was pretty disappointed with the burger selection. They basically have cheese and no cheese. Mushrooms. Bleu cheese. Veggie. No bacon. No IRISH bacon. The Dublin is sautéed mushrooms and Irish cheddar. It was meh. It was nothing special at all, but I am a huge burger fan. My SO said the shepherd's pie was really bland. Mostly meat and potatoes, not a lot of veggies. Oh, and this place doesn't have bbq sauce. I don't trust places that don't have bbq sauce. True to my style, I have to comment on price. I saw nothing good with the prices. I could have gotten a much better burger anywhere else for less. I probably would have given it one star, but there are three things I really liked. First, the waitress was nice, maybe overly nice. She was attentive and friendly. Second, the veggie of the day was Brussel sprouts. They were really good. My SO didn't think they were sprouts because he doesn't like them, but he liked these. Finally, I thought the bread was awesome. This is a great place to come for a beer, they taste good to me I didn't notice a line problem. A while back I ordered a burger medium. It took a very long time to come out. I need up with food poisoning a few hours later and couldn't eat anything for 3 days. Even before this I noticed the food had been going downhill from what it was years before. Potential for greatness goes right out the window for this place. I get the whole "authentic Irish pub feel" but it lacked so many things. -- Guinness pour was horrible. I had 2 hoping they would make up for it the second time...um, yeah, no. -- Food, oh my God it was bad. I had the blackened bleu burger. They of course have it on the menu as "Mongey's Famous 1/2 LB. Burgers"...who the heck is Mongey and what makes them famous? The burger meat was dry as the Sahara although I ordered it medium. It was coated...no wait...drenched in this Cajun spice. It was near inedible! And for $2 more you get literally about 5 french fries, a piece of lettuce and a sliver of tomato. I kid you not. My friend had the chicken sandwich which unfortunately today he is paying for due to a bout of possible food poisoning. -- Prices are not reasonable. 2 Sandwiches and 2 beers each and it was $50. If it tasted good then it would be worth it... -- Service. Our poor waitress was overwhelmed as the place was busy. The food took a long time to arrive and our drink orders about the same (although the second round came out quicker). The waitress was nice and was at the mercy of a slow bar and cook. -- Atmosphere. Avg age was 50. Predominantly male. Not a good place for a young crowd to hang out. It's a rather small bar area. Couple of TV's. I know Pubs aren't known for their food but I haven't had a bad meal like this in a while. I would only return for a quick drink before going out elsewhere. It's great to get a good meal at a fair price in Morristown. I had the Cesar salad which was substantial and delicious. My dining companions had a steak and the fish special. All were pleased with the taste, size of the portion, and price. We also had a cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was very flavorful and the cake was moist and chocolaty. Our server was very friendly too. We were seated outside and when the weather got bad the awning was extended and covered nearly the entire patio. It was great. Good times. read more

Defiantly will not go back here. The food was terrible! I had the worst chicken Caesar salad ever! How can you screw this up? The roman lettuce looked very old and not good quality. Not much dressing as it was all dumped in the middle. We got a burger for my daughter and I felt bad for her, as she is loosing her front tooth and the burger looked like a hockey puck! We also order some Irish coffee's and thought that would be HOT, but no. They were on the cool side. At least they can't screw up getting me a beer. This place is not very good. I was there before a show at the Mayo about a month ago. The tables were set out pretty awful. There was so much moving in your seat to let guests and waiters get around. The food was nothing to talk about it either. I had just a hamburger and it was ok but my guest had dishes they were unhappy with. You see the host but he was not observing if guests were unhappy or needed something to make there visit feel better. Don't think I will be going back there again. read more

food was blah and over priced as well as the drinks were very over priced. Worst margarita I ever had in my life. I paid almost $10 for it and couldn't even drink it because it was awful. We paid $9 and $10 for cheeseburgers that didn't even include fries. If you wanted fries, it was an additional $1.50 which is ridiculous. Most decent places include fries with your burger and if they don't, they don't charge you a ridiculous price for just the burger. This is NJ not Manhattan. We also paid almost $5 for a teeny portion of 8-9 onion rings that were soggy. (if they were giant oinions maybe it would have been worth the price, but not small dinky ones) The staff was nice and friendly but that was about all that was good about this place. It's like they actually don't want your business..... they have the most inconvenient location and if you ever decide to stumble into this terrible establishment you will experience: skunked beers, terrible service, and a bar staff that doesn't know how to make the simplest drinks. My friend was married at The Madison, so after the afternoon reception his family and friends went to the Dublin Pub for dinner. By the end of the night, we had 20+ people in the back rooms. The service was okay. The waiter was nice and kept on top of the drink orders, but did a really poor job with the food orders. I love the Irish Pub. It is my go-to spot every time I am in Morristown. The staff is very friendly, the food is amazing and inexpensive, and the drinks are always cold. The pub has a great location near the community Theater and not far from the green. It is a pub and has the feel of a pub. Food is good fish and chips are good so is the fish. On a cold day in January, I had a cold and wanted an irish coffee, thinking the whiskey would make my throat feel better. I wasn't disappointed! read more

It took a very long time for our server to come and acknowledge that we were there. It was a very long wait to get a drink and a 40 minute wait to get our burgers. The burgers are terrible. When our first choice restaurant has a 40 min wait & we venture into an empty pub next store, that's usually my "turn & run" trigger. Since there were 6 of us & I wasn't hungry, in we went. I didn't eat which was great because the mouse running from the dining room into the kitchen confirmed my suspicions. If you can't consistently achieve high marks & keep your place clean, do everyone a favor and "shut it down". I'd be begging Gordon Ramsey for help. read more

Having visited various cities in Ireland, the Dublin Pub reminds me of the pubs that are found in railway station around the country. Food is pretty good, but not spectacular, the Guiness is not poured nor served properly (I have a certificate from the Guiness storehouse attesting to my skill in this regard!). Had a very disappointing time here tonight. Went on a Friday evening, nice out so we decided to sit outside in the back. Not too crowded and the area was spacious. My girlfriend ordered the Jameson pork chop with mashed potatoes and cauliflower. The pork chop was dry but she ate it anyway. I got the ribeye with fries. Asked for it to be medium rare and it came out pretty much well done. Waiter took forever to ever get back to me but told him it was well done not medium rare. He comes back saying that the cook said it was medium rare, I begged to differ. The manager came and said the same thing and I showed him and he gladly took it back for a new one. Now I know it doesn't take 20 min to cook a steak medium rare so I started to get a bit suspicious. And sure enough it came back again well done. The manager watched me cut it and said I was right and was still well done. He said he would take the steak off our bill. Very nice of him, but what was I supposed to eat then. So I just wanted to get out of there but our waiter, Rob, avoided us like the plague. Had to ask another waitress for our bill and she quickly obliged. Thankfully. Some older man, who I can only guess was the owner, came and apologized. I do give them credit for trying to make our experience a bit more bearable, but it was quite unpleasant.
