Just stopped in for the first time today. I found out about them when I asked Frederick Coffee Co where they roast their coffee- Dublin Roasters. I had to come straight to the source to find Highlander Grogg which is not always sold at F.C.Co. Their coffee is some of the best in town. They have quick service, friendly staff, and comfortable seating. The only drawback on the ambiance is that feels a bit cluttered with chotchkies. They could level up on the "industrial" look that they hint at with the corrugated metal walls. They are on the right track and we will be back for more coffee! read more

This is what it is all about... passion. Coffee roasted onsite from a careful and thoughtful selection of beans is the definition of fresh brewed. The other selections beyond straight up coffee are also tasty (and I don't normally go for iced or other varieties of coffee-flavored beverages). I love this little coffee shop, off the beaten path in Frederick. About 1.5 miles outside of downtown in a small shopping center. Chill atmosphere with tables for reading, working or just enjoying coffee. They roast their own beans and the coffee is great. Reasonable prices, service is always friendly and they have a small food menu as well (breakfast, lunch, etc.). Local items for sale so great place to grab a gift. read more

The coffee has good flavor; the coffee taste comes through as a strong medium roast, no bitter or burnt flavors. Unfortunately, the latte foam is all large bubbles, but at least there is a good amount of it and the coffee is hot. I tried a dirty hippie, which is espresso-chai-honey. They did a good job of blending the flavors and I'm glad I tried it once, but it's got nothing on a dirty Asian (Thai tea and espresso). The seating area is nice, very welcoming. Very friendly staff and great coffee. I typically go to Dublin to purchase their whole bean coffee, freshly roasted. It is perhaps the best in the region. Their specialty drinks are just "ok." There is room for improvement there. But again, I go their for their regular and quality, organic coffee beans almost exclusively. The owner is very knowledgable about the entire coffee industry too. I feel very comfortable purchasing from a roaster and business owner who really cares about quality and high standard in an industry that typically lacks. read more

4.5 stars. I am very experienced with coffee who does roast their own green coffee at home. This is my "go to" coffee shop. I drive a bit further and pay a bit more for their coffee selections. It's the way a coffee shop or a quality southern BBQ joint should be...a bit quirky and a little disorganized...ya need to relax going in...have patience and ask questions. I've experienced nothing but helpful staff. I've bought "to go" black coffee, roasted coffee, and a pastry. The pastries are very good and baked elsewhere but they are in the process of making their own. You have a variety of prepared coffee to choose from and you may sample them beforehand...a nice touch. I haven't had as much success with their roasted coffee but that's my fault to some degree. The last visit I bought a pound of a typically excellent coffee that calls for a medium roasting profile but it was over roasted. I noticed how dark it was roasted when I got home and most especially noticed it when I brewed and tasted it. I recommend getting on the website before you buy to check out their roasted coffees. So, this is a very good shop and I'm heading back today. If I'm not roasting my own this is where I will go for good coffee that actually has flavor along with the pastries. read more

If the coffee shop on the TV show 'Friends' were a real place, this would be it. Dublin Roaster's is a charming and delicious place to curl up on a couch, access excellent wifi or find a little study nook to hideaway while you enjoy the best coffees in Frederick. The multiple rooms makes this place super spacious, but warm decor and smart lay out keeps it feeling cozy and intimate. It's one of my favorite spots to come work for a few hours, especially on a rainy day. This is also the only place I've found in town that makes Bulletproof coffee. I choose the Volt blend with my bulletproof and it's out of this world. The one drawback is that the food menu is just so so - not bad, but the breakfast selections have not knocked my socks off. But everything is else is so wonderful here, it gets 5 stars from me anyway (and I really like to eat!). read more

If you want to go somewhere at 7 am and be treated terribly...this is your spot! Customer service is seriously lacking. As a back-in-the day customer I have been sorely disappointed with the new employees. The coffee is rarely ready and out at 7:15 and the employees really give off the vibe that they don't want to be bothered. I thought it was just me, so I watched as the counter person actually ducked customers when she saw them coming through the door! I watched as a man left his seat with a full breakfast in front of him, went to the counter to ask for a fork and was told "I'll get it for you in a minute!" The girl working then took 4 minutes to wait on a customer while the man stood there waiting for a fork! Twice in one week I have seen orders sent back that were not correct. This is such an awesome coffee shop! They have daily coffee fresh brewed. And best of all... Their ice coffees!! Who would of thought to make coffee ice cubes?! Yup I said it they take their brewed coffee cool it down place them into ice cube makers and freeze them to place them in your ice coffee. So as the ice melts... Yup you got it ...it makes more coffee in your ice coffee!!! Game changer for sure! And don't forget to grab a homemade sweet they have in the shop as well. Come here for the coffee, not the food. I came here on a busy Sunday for breakfast and it was underwhelming. The small selection of baked goods was okay. we got a scone which was decent, and then a bagel sandwich which was okay but I could have made the same thing for cheaper. Their coffee however is great, they have a large selection and different flavors to mix in if that is your thing. I got an iced coffee which was good and came with coffee iced cubes which was a great addition. Overall pass on their food selection but their coffee and the ambience are worth a visit. read more

The best coffee shop in Frederick, hands down. Fresh coffee and good food, friendly staff. I am disabled and it's easy to get around inside no matter what mobility assistive device I am using. They have the best decaf coffee which is great for me! The orders are quickly made and aesthetically pleasing even if the place is totally packed to the brim, as it usually is on the weekends. Gluten free options are also good! The "Brew Crew" has never been anything but welcoming and polite to myself and my service dog [in training], and we frequent Dublin because of it. Staff is always lively and knowledgable about what they have in stock and ready to give good suggestions based on what you say you like and don't like - I've never tried a new drink I wasn't crazy about! On three separate occasions I've gone in, ordered a drink, and then less than a half an hour later told to leave because a private event was happening. They could at least put a sign outside notifying customers in advance so that we'd know to go elsewhere. The coffee they put out for you to serve yourself sits and sits and sits. No thank you. Love this place. I was never to the old location in New Market, but can see why it is so well liked. Very comfortable and casual place where, if you come here often enough the staff get to know your name and coffee preferences and treat you like friends. Great place to grab a gift of fresh roasted coffee for your friends/family or any of the other tsotchkes that they have for sale. Also, a great place to read a book, knit/crochet, work on the computer (they have wifi), listen to music or hold a meeting for work or hobbyists. They have old sofas, futons, chairs and tables to relax at while you spend time at the roasters. The only thing I don't like is sometimes the smoke is so bad when they are roasting so as to give my asthma a stir and a headache. But I still brave it as that doesn't happen all the time. read more

Created a yelp account simply to write a review of Dublin Roasters. I've been coming to Dublin Roasters Coffee occasionally for about a year now. I always enjoyed it up until these past couple months, maybe 6 months or so. I used to work as a barista at a coffee shop in New York that roasted their own beans, so I have my fair share of knowledge regarding bean roasting, making drinks, pulling espresso shots, etc. In other words; I'm able to tell whether or not my drink is good quality or not. Granted, I'm no expert, but I'm also not completely ignorant. I've noticed that the quality of whatever drink I order largely depends on what day/time it is and who is working. There are certain employees there that when I see they're working I immediately leave and go to a different coffee shop. This is unfortunate because Dublin is the closest coffee shop to my house and it would be nice to just be able to stop there whenever I want. For example, I will only order food in the mornings on weekdays, never any other time. The lady who I believe makes it at that time presents it well and somehow manages to make it taste better. As for the coffee beans, I stopped buying bags of it awhile ago. What are supposed to be medium roasts taste like Italian and I don't even want to think about how decaf tastes. The drinks, however, are by far the trickiest part. Some days you can order a latte and get a nicely made drink with excellent espresso shots and steamed milk. While on other days, you get utterly scorched milk and a pathetic excuse of an espresso shot. It doesn't taste like coffee at all. What led me to writing this review was what I saw one of the employees do just the other day that made me want to ask for a refund. It was a hot day, so I ordered an iced latte (thinking how hard can it be to make a simple iced latte). Well apparently it's very hard, because I watched the barista pull out a bottle of "espresso" from the fridge and poor it into my drink rather than just quickly pulling a shot. Bleh! To those who haven't worked with coffee and/or don't understand why this is gross; when pulling an espresso shot, you have to mix it in with the drink ASAP because it literally starts to go bad/become bitter while you're pulling it. As soon as the shot is ready you must use it! So if they're just collecting old unused espresso shots into a bottle and putting it in the fridge for later use, the result is just a bitter useless nastiness that adds no caffeine or coffee flavor to your drink. I tried the latte given to me and it did not have any coffee-like taste whatsoever, it just tasted like milk (shocker!). I threw the rest of it away and now know to never order an iced latte there again. I will give Dublin this, it has great seating and an amazing atmosphere for reading, studying, working, etc. You can pay a small fee (I believe it's only $5 but I could be wrong on that) and rent one of three rooms for as long as you want. Plenty of space and there's the entertainment of musical performances each and every Sunday. There's a variety of items for sale everywhere you go; paintings, coffee mugs, clothes, jewelry, things for your pets, etc. And last but not least, my personal favorite aspect of Dublin; it's dog friendly! I don't even have a dog of my own, but I love meeting all the other people's furry friends and watching them enjoy a cup of whipped cream. Overall, here's my advice for those who want to visit Dublin Roasters; Only order food in the morning. Don't get decaf. Don't order drinks unless either the young man with the dark hair or the young lady with the really big green eyes are working. As far as I know, they are the only ones who can make a good latte worth coming back for. Don't drink the coffee black. Just buy your beans somewhere else. Buy a pastry, the pastries are delicious! Advice for those at Dublin Roasters; Train your employees! I really do love Dublin and I would love it if I could go there regardless of who is working and expect a delicious drink and delicious food. Specifically; steaming milk, pulling shots, DO NOT use that cold espresso stuff (that is revolting), steaming milk for cappuccinos (I could be wrong about this I only ordered a cappuccino once but I can tell you it was nothing like what a capp is supposed to be), making food. Lower the amount of pastry choices, there's way too many to choose from. Lastly, stop over roasting coffee beans. I feel like a snob for writing such a long review, but I don't care. Dublin has for some reason won so many awards that belong to other coffee shops in the area in my opinion. Ultimately, I'm writing this because I feel so terribly for the taste buds of Dublin Roaster's customers that do now know enough about coffee to understand that what they're drinking is crap. I really like this place! The artwork on the floor is amazing to look at, and there are so many choices when it comes to customizing your drink. I got a little overwhelmed because of the many options. They also have live music performances every now and then. I wish I could've stayed to listen but I had to go to church. The seats are comfortable and there's so much sunlight due to the windows. Even though it's about 35 minutes away from home, I would love to visit again and again. They sell really great coffee at Dublin Roasters. I enjoy my coffee as black as my soul and the coffee here is strong without being bitter or overpowering. I used to drink Folgers coffee in the morning until I tasted the coffee at Dublin Roasters and realized this is what awesome coffee tastes like. The Costa Rican or Tanzanian roast is what I prefer as they are both strong and smooth and have a slightly sweet aftertaste. The space is really well set up with plenty of tables and chairs, comfortable couches, and rooms you can hide away in if you want to catch up on schoolwork or a great book. I absolutely love the decor and atmosphere! It's SO nice to find a coffee spot OUTSIDE of downtown! (Downtown can be so repetitive). The staff were so down to earth and friendly! That really stands out from the aloof vibe you get from the other shops. Fun Christmas lights and a hodge-podge of fun seating made this morning great! I love that they offer so many flavor shots for their coffees. :) The only reason I've given this place four stars instead of five is because of the plain sandwich menu. This is a great find for visiting Frederick Maryland. Coffee is absolutely spot on delicious and they have emulsion blended coffee like bullet proof available. People are super nice and fast service. I love all the coffee drinks they offer, but hit a wall with the Iced Coffee. They use large coffee cubes, not ice cubes. It does not work. As the coffee cubes melt down, the coffee becomes stronger. While I'm in Frederick, I always come to Dublin Roasters. They offer a bottomless cup which means I can sample the variety of coffees that are offered. There is also a great menu with tasty treats. The atmosphere is great. .. lots of local artists on the walls and other stuff for sale. A unique thing Dublin Roasters offers is the option to buy a cup of coffee or a sandwich or something along those lines for someone who can't afford it. Overall decent experience. The storefront location isn't the nicest...large pop-up tent with plastic tables and chairs sits in the parking lot offering outside seating. Inside, the store has what seems to be the normal collection of coffee shop items for sale, but the displays and furniture just feel a bit off. Taken in conjunction with the tent and plastic furniture outside, it all has a blech vibe. The staff was courteous, but not friendly. We were helped promptly though. The place wasn't crowded when we visited, yet our espresso drinks seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time. When we got them though, they were hot (really hot) and the flavor was solid. If you just want a good drink, this place will do. If you also want a place that feels good, with staff that's welcoming...this might not be the right fit for you. read more
