    Spicy Chicken Sandwich
    Kelly M.

Came here for lunch seeking affordable eats with great reviews. Unfortunately doesn't hold up under scrutiny. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and the chicken was tough and chewy--not tender at all. It was so bad I wanted to quit eating it, but I felt obligated to continue since I'd spent money on it. A few hours after eating the sandwich, I was sent running to the bathroom. I wont extrapolate. I don't recommend. Chicken has bad texture. I won't be back.

Formerly Birdies, still the same great quality, amazing food with tons of flavors, good portion sizes, street parking available outside, very clean restaurant, seating available in a covered area. Friendly staff. And amazing donuts and coffee as well; will return and highly recommend.

Duchess is an awesome brunch spot located in the heart of downtown LA. The service was great. There was a bit of a line, but it was a busy Sunday, but they took our orders pretty fast and the food came out relatively quick. When you walk in it smells delicious a little subtle background music very nice ambience.. The highlight of my experience wasn't something I got it was something that my cousin got he got the lemon pepper chicken tenders and if you wanna talk about seasoning seasoned so perfect flavor packed in every bite and he got the three-piece and they were absolutely huge like all three of them could've been on their own sandwiches. They were so delicious nice warm, hot the chipotle, mayo, and the ranch only brought out the lemon pepper even more would highly recommend the chicken tenders. They were perfect. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and a cinnamon roll. Now the chicken sandwich was good great size good portions. My only issue with it is it wasn't spicy. It had great flavors seasoned beautifully. The bun was nice soft warm, melts in your mouth. The chicken was nice juicy crispy absolutely delicious. It just wasn't as spicy as I was expecting, but very delicious. And the cinnamon roll was peak so much flavor packed into it. It was a little bit warm. It was so delicious so good would 100% get both things again. Well, 100% be returning next time I'm downtown

Nashville hot Breakfast Sandwich w/ Chicken & Bacon
    Steve C.

Somehow, despite the excellent food, I found their service and customer interactions the biggest highlight here. I had the Nashville chicken breakfast sandwich and it was very good. Chicken cooked perfectly, Nashville spice was good but not obnoxious, and the breakfast goodies were solid. On second pass I'd stick with a traditional breakfast Sammie or a traditional chicken Sammie, but the food was executed well. Give them a shot. You won't be disappointed

    Lemon pistachio donut

Really liked this little coffee, donut, and chicken stand. We were looking for something to eat before we headed to a concert at Dodger Stadium. It's located in the theater district around the corner from the Mayan and the Belasco, so there's not a ton of parking in the area. Luckily we were able to find some street spots nearby on a Saturday afternoon. I had an original breakfast burrito with grilled chicken (instead of fried). It had a bacon cheese omlette inside with the chicken, as well as avocado and grilled onions. It was delicious, and really filling because it was solid protein, lol. I also purchase a lemon pistachio donut to go. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks along the lines of Sidecar donuts. The place also serves other chicken like wings & strips, and breakfast sandwiches. They make different coffee based drinks as well. Since it's tiny, the seating is very limited. A lot of the customers seemed to be getting their orders to go. We'll definitely come back again, especially if we're coming to a show at the Belasco.

We were headed to an event at Dodger Stadium and decided to stop at Duchess since it was nearby and had some solid reviews and I'm so glad we did! I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with cheddar, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and clearly made fresh to order. The bun was soft and fresh, the cheese was melty and flavorful, and every bite hit the spot. I got a side of fries, which were also really good, crispy and well seasoned. The sandwich was reasonably priced as well. To take home, I grabbed two donuts: the banana cream and the mini Oreo. While I really wanted to love them, they didn't quite do it for me. The banana cream had a very strong, artificial banana flavor, and the Oreo donut didn't stand out much, just kind of flat in flavor and texture. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito and said it was fantastic, so it's safe to say the savory food here is a strong point. Inside, the space is fairly plain with only a couple of tables, so seating is a bit limited and not ideal for hanging out. But what stood out just as much as the food was the service, both the male and female staff that were working were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind, which made the experience even better. Overall, I'd come back for that chicken sandwich any day, maybe skip the donuts next time, but definitely a spot worth visiting before a game.

Customer Service Danielle!!! Superb service, from entering Duchess until my visit was completed. Wonderful and enjoyable food and service!!!

    Hugs and Horchata was amazing

Great coffee. Attentive and very courteous. Great help with the menu and suggestions to try. Staff was very attentive and timely with order. Will definitely be here again. Also donuts looked amazing.

Small shop with doughnut and fried chicken. There is only a couple bar tables so mainly a takeout joint. The staff was super nice and was helpful with recommendations. Breakfast chicken sandwich jr. - Crispy fried chicken with a delicious mayo based sauce. In addition there wass an ooey gooey sunnyside up egg. So good. Would highly recommend, especially since the jr is already enough for me. Tots and coffee that came as a combo was a good bonus. The doughnuts were not my favourite. Flavours were not too exciting for me.

I got the last pistachio lemon donut and it was incredible!! They're freshly made by the baker in the morning. Once he leaves for the day- that's it for donuts. I was lucky to have snagged it. Coffee was also yummy, I got the iced hazelnut latte. Customer service was wonderful. The girl who helped us was very friendly, helpful, and detail oriented. I'll have to come back to try their savory offerings someday; the chicken sandwiches looked great. All in all a great experience. Parking can be a little tricky like much of the rest of DTLA, so you're better off walking.

Great little breakfast spot on Olympic in DTLA. Great coffee options and breakfast sandwiches with the added bonus of a delicious dessert. I had a caramel apple crunch donut and a strawberry matcha latte but saw the breakfast sandwiches and they look delicious and smell great too! I would definitely recommend this spot for a quick brekkie. No real table service which makes it quick and probably better. The matcha latte was very rich and great tasting- I think they use real strawberries

This past visit I came with a large group and was still seated immediately. I didn't realize just how large it is inside, as I usually am towards the front or on the small front patio. ANYWAY The Korean wings were very good but admittedly could have been a bit spicier. The loaded fries had a bit too much melty cheese on top that oversaturated the other ingredients. The chicken quesadilla was I enjoyed but was a little basic. Last time I was here before this I had a chicken tikka quesadilla which I think was a more inventive dish that is certainly more memorable than this one. No rooftop view or wonderful food can change the way you are made to feel. I knew it wasn't just us when a nearby table made a comment "good luck" when trying to get our server, Tony, to come back to finish placing our order and another table with a similar comment when we needed a pen from our server who seemingly avoided for 15+ min after our check was tossed on our table with no thanks or any words. Sad, because the food here.. 5 STARS!!! Hands down some of the best food! Other staff also... 5 STARS!! So welcoming and friendly like the entire hotel staff being guests at the hotel. Our server Tony was 2 stars as he started off ok but ran away mid order thinking it was the loud music and did get drinks delivered very quickly. When he returned with drinks my son was able to finish his menu order that was missed. Tony did explain the small kitchen and items would arrive at different times.. all good and things came out quicker and in sync more than expected. Allergies were noted and accommodated so that was appreciated. After food was delivered and we had time to enjoy our meal, the manager (I presume) was welcoming and interested in asking how we enjoyed our meal. It was all wonderful and told him so.. once he left however, it was as though we didn't exist or were of little importance. Tony came back and tossed the check on the table and turned away quickly, never stopping to see if we actually needed anything else. Had to get his attention to order dessert. My son ordered the strawberry cheesecake bar and I ordered an espresso martini.. this wasn't on the menu and I would NOT recommend an espresso martini. One of my favorite drinks I've had from MANY places. This one was all VERY strong espresso. It looked like a martini but there was NO sweetness of vanilla, chocolate or any other sweet flavor. There was no smooth finish of vodka... literally very harsh espresso with nothing else. I put it to the side hoping our server would come back. My son finished his dessert entirely and we waited... and waited. My drink sat full on the side of the table and Tony tossed our check down without question and turned to run away. I had to nearly chase after him to get his attention when I explained my drink was not good and just wanted it removed from my bill. He asked if I wanted them to remake it and I said no, I wasn't even sure it was the drink I ordered. He did have it removed but literally came back with the check and tossed it on the table and ran away quickly again without a pen so we couldn't sign to our room and leave. It dragged painfully on and on ruining what could have been an amazing experience. My son had to finally get up and ask for a pen which Tony gave him with no words and seemed annoyed. So odd and lacking in hospitality. Is this normal at an upscale restaurant to not care if your customers are satisfied? Coming from the Bay Area and dining at other upscale restaurants I just haven't ever felt "less than" like I did here. I sill left 20% but Tony, I am a 30-50% tipper and you judged us wrong. We may not have been in sequins and tux's after coming off an 8 hour drive and in comfort clothes, but deserved better. Serving is a demanding job, and I appreciate hardworking hospitality professionals as I was once one in my younger years. Customer interactions significantly impact a guest's experience and a server that is dismissive or unfriendly does not reflect the level of service I would expect from a business with such a great atmosphere. Food: -Cara Cara chopped salad - honestly best salad I've had anywhere hands down.. flavor, crunch, zest -Golden Hour Burger for son commented on how juicy and flavorful it was even cooked Med-well -Truffle Mac n cheese was the item that didn't get ordered as Tony ran away too quickly, but was ok. Was drier than expected and not as creamy and cheesy as expected. -Ragu tomato pizza had a most light and flavorful crust, my son loved it more than I did so he finished it as the tomato sauce was a bit much for me and I was more than happy to keep to my chopped salad
