I have to preface this by saying that I did not go here, but my coworker brought in their donuts and they were so so delicious that I had to review! They make their donuts fresh to order. You choose your selection of glazed and flavors and toppings and they fry them and put them together in front of you. The donuts come out warm and fluffy- some of the best donuts I've had. The maple bacon donut is my favorite. They definitely don't skimp on the bacon, which is much appreciated. The sweetness of the glaze and saltiness and crispiness from the bacon is just the perfect combo. Honestly, all their donuts are amazing bc it's so fresh and the dough is perfectly fluffy. I've been on the hunt for the best doughnuts in the DMV and Duck Donuts ALMOST did it for me. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty, good thing since I don't think I would've been able to experience the whole Duck Donut experience if i was being rushed. I was able to carefully select my donuts and even watch the worker begin the donut making machine - yes I was extremely impressed. After the fresh donuts were ready to be crafted, I watched as the worker paint each donut with toppings beautifully. The doughnuts are more of a cake-like consistency, but it went well with the flavors of the toppings. The toppings are EXTREMELY SUGARY AND SWEET. like talk about explosion of sugar in your mouth. And I found that the more exotic the donut (s'mores & Oreo) the less I enjoyed it. My favorite donuts ended up being the lemon & raspberry and of course the maple & bacon. At a price of $1.35 per donut and 1/2 a dozen for about $7, I could not have asked for better donuts. I do agree that the workers should lighten up a bit though, my group was literally the only ones there and hello? We can see every single thing you're doing when you're either taking the order or decorating it. You're decorating a donut!!! The least you could do is do it with a smile or some excitement. What I liked about Duck Donuts: -Freshly made as soon as you order it. -A number of very cool and different flavor combinations. -It's a small little no frills shop. Donuts are hot, tasty and yummy here. They are freshly made and come out piping hot. They're even warm by the time you get home! So why the one star? Because they customer service makes me want to walk next door to Harris Teeter for white powdered donuts with an expiration date a month in advance. We entered the store and there was not a worker in sight. We made conversation amongst the four of us hoping someone would come. Two minutes later we started recording. I called out "hello" and waited. After waiting a bit more, someone appeared from the back, avoided any eye contact and stood there waiting. No greeting, no asking what they could do for me. I placed my order and she mumbled my total, took my money and handed me a receipt. Again, no thank you or greeting. But the real clincher, she laughed as she walked back to the back of the store where no one could see her. I have been here several times and will never be back. I love Duck Donuts but, unfortunately, service and communication are lacking at this location. Ok placed an order for delivery at work at 8:30 this morning. It's 10:11 and I just got a message from the delivery driver from Door Dash (who Duck contracts with- the order was placed through the Duck Donuts app) saying that Duck Donuts was just starting to make my order and that they would get it to me when it was done. I've received no communication from the store about the delay. I get that there are staffing shortages all over and that could have impacted this order but had that been communicated to me, I either would have understood or cancelled the order if they couldn't (which they clearly can't) hey it here close to the desired time. read more

As a fan of this donut haven that originated from the Outer Banks, I'm stoked. I have previously visited the Fairfax location, but yesterday was my first time at this Arlington branch. Donuts are fresh and made to order at each Duck Donuts store. So if you're in a rush and think that it'll be similar to picking up a donut from Dunkin', you'll be mistaken. If you have the time though, it's well worth it. Order forms are available at the front, which you fill out and present to the cashier. You can purchase as little as one to as many as a bucket.
