Also, I wanted to know nutritional content and ingredients before I ordered. The cashier said the information was not available. I had to press him to ask someone else. The other employee said their was probably ingredients on the mix bag but that was all. She did offer to look. However, for me, I need to see the list myself so I have a sense of how much of each ingredient is in the product. She also said they don't have any nutritional/ingredient information in the store for the toppings. I ask her if it was online. Like most people living in the 21st century I have a smart phone so I figured I could just look while there. She said it might be and didn't know for sure. I'm not wasting my time digging around a website so you can make a sale. I left without purchasing anything and they seemed 100% ok with not serving me. I always go traditional with my donut and get chocolate frosted with sprinkles, but there are so many different flavors you can get here. You can even get a donut ice cream sundae!! After you order your donut (or dozen if you're really feeling special), they fry them fresh, dip them in hot frosting, and then sprinkles on top. It's magical, y'all. This donut shop has just opened but I can say right now that this place has the best donut I've ever tried. They specialize in made to order cake donuts, so when you come in you order what you want, any combo of icing and toppings, and it's served to you hot and fresh. I'm not picky about most things in life. Especially food. Donuts, however, may be the one thing that I'm a "snob" about. I'd been hearing about Duck's ever since they opened, and judging by the nearly constant line in (and sometimes out of) the building, I figured there had to be something magic happening. They're warm, there is a seemingly endless combination of icings and toppings, and they can satisfy a sweet tooth. I appreciate the uniqueness of it. Getting to concoct your own donut creation allows you to get the flavors you're craving, which is fun. But I come from a small town where there are two mom and pop donut shops that have been around for decades. They've been around for decades because they have KILLER donuts. So, I'm biased, which is why Duck's is only a three star for me. If you have that craving that only donuts can satisfy or if you've got kiddos dying to make their own favorite flavor combo, definitely give them a try. I had been so curious about Duck Donuts b/c every time I drove past the location, the line would be out the door. But today seemed to be my lucky day since the line was still inside the building. So I go in and look at my options of glaze and toppings and whatnot. I always do research before going anywhere and I was reading these are cake donuts, so I was expecting a cakey texture like a DD coffee cake donut, something along those lines. Great concept slowly sweeping the nation. Donuts are the new cupcakes. There are several places in surrounding counties with this same idea of create your own donut/toppings. The donuts themselves are pretty good but not worth waiting in line for upwards of an hour. I'm trying to understand why somebody would go to Duck instead of Dunkin or Krispy?... I guess maybe you're getting a donut at Duck that's generally fresher but I wouldn't bet the house on it. You get to customize the toppings on your donut, ok... but the toppings really didn't appear to be anything fresher or higher quality than Dunkin or Krispy ... the toppings sit out there like any frozen yogurt place unrefrigerated for who knows how long? And the actual toppings just really looked pretty generic...Coffee choices maybe a bit of an improvement over Dunkin and Krispy....Duck had 3 different regular coffee choices but I didn't see a decaf choice...And Duck did not offer a lactose free alternative to add to the coffee and Dunkin generally does these days of that's important to you. Overall i mean it was ok, we shared 2 donuts, nothing special...I think Makers donuts in Knoxville truly elevate the donut experience, bigger, more dense, more interesting and higher quality toppings...
