The duck in two different forms was a little dry and really had no flavor unless you smother it with the sauce until u can't taste the duck. Then it was ok. The chicken was pretty much dry and tasteless. And the Wiener schnitzel had too much breading. The owner was around but didn't care much to say hi to anyone. and even though it was not busy at all our service was slow and no one came to our table unless we waved them down. Duck Inn was a delightful experience. The atmosphere is charming and has that old timey lodge supper club feel. The spreadable cheeses as a starter are a nice touch. I had a filet mignon with bleu cheese bacon butter for my main course, and it was amazing. My wife had beef tenderloin special that was also good. We shared a piece of German chocolate cake and a small grasshopper for dessert, and both left us very stuffed and very happy. The only downside really was that the service, not just our server, all seemed collectively stressed and disorganized. Everyone was very sweet, but we experienced a few errors and delays at our table, and we saw it happening around the restaurant regardless of the server. I stopped by with a friend for the Friday night fish fry. We arrived a little early, around 5:30 or so, and had no wait for a table. The main dining area was absolutely covered in kitschy Christmas decorations! Train set, multiple Santas, dolls and all. As for the fish fry, there was a broiled and fried cod - the broiled was super and had some amazing seasoning. The fried was simple but tasty. We went all out on sides - fries, potato pancakes, and applesauce... Like the fried cod, it was all simple but delicious. Most are average but The Duck Inn pulls it off with a delightful German spin that makes it a personal favorite. Somehow the topic of WI supper clubs came up at a party, so we decided to find one to go to. My wife found this one on Yelp. Headed up with a group of 6 on a Saturday night. After enjoying a better-than-average old fashioned at the beautiful bar, had what we all thought was an excellent meal. The prime rib was generous and extremely well spiced. Trout Almondine was done perfectly. The duck and the goose (special) were both good, done just right although a tad under salted. For dessert, the autumn pie was stellar, lava cake was ok. Overall the service was good, about what we would expect at this type of place. We traveled an hour to get there and we all want to go back. First time and on the recommendation of some close friends. Made a reservation, checked in and had a couple cocktails at the bar. Seated (wasn't real crowded) and took our time with an app. Most of our table had various cuts of steak and they didn't disappoint. Onion soup was a hit, salads were fresh with homemade ranch dressing, and then we hit the steaks. My filet was cooked perfectly though I care for mine seasoned more but that is more than fine. We were stoked to see this supper club so close to where we were staying in Delavan. Our meal began with a bread basket and the French onion soup I selected. My favorite from the bread basket was a warm roll topped with sunflower seeds, and some delicious graham cracker like Swedish flatbread baked on site. It seems that the baker also makes some cream cheese spread, but we didn't get to try any of that on this visit. The filet I chose was topped with a large peak of Gorgonzola walnut mixture, and I also tried the duck. I've only had duck one other time, and found this to have a crispy skin and to be a tad dry. They had a good wine selection, and we were tempted by the homemade desserts. I went with the custardy key lime pie, which was quite delicious. While we were at the bar, we saw the young bartender make a grasshopper, which was super thick and mounded WAY up over the glass beautifully. Service was great and we enjoyed our visit. read more

The Parmesan crusted calamari is so delicious, only recommend if you are ok with capers and pickled banana peppers (like peperoncinis). The duck vegetable soup is a must. I have been eating here since I was 10 years old and I am still going back. I had a great gorgonzola crusted new York strip that was dripping with gorgonzola. Some may not enjoy that but it was delicious. Love the duck phone in the bar as well! The staff is friendly and quick to pass you a spotted cow. read more

We have not been here all year because it was more miss than hit with the Friday fish fry. So glad we came out tonight. Fish was great, the potato pancakes look/taste like a new recipe...very good!! The Cole slaw used to be quite tangy, but that was very toned down...another plus. The drinks were great tonight....that's where the miss came in, in the past depending on the bartender. I was in the area looking at a summer home. One of my friends recommended going here. It was awesome. The service was super friendly. Old Supper Club style place. The cheese spread was very good the soup was outstanding. We had a fillet and a trout almondine. The trout was amazing. Light crispy flavorful can't wait to go back and get it again. Finished it off with key lime cheesecake. Off the chart great. They had a Swedish flatbread and good fresh rolls. Waited an hour and a half for a table, which they do on purpose so you buy more of their over priced drinks. Then the waiter informed us they were out of prime rib and two other dishes. Wouldn't you'd think they'd make sure to have enough of their most popular dishes? Very disappointing. Went on a Wednesday night. Special was prime rib but was 25 dollars for a queen cut. A bit pricey. Actually everything on the menu was high priced so we expected an above ordinary meal. Beef tenderloin tips were actually round steak cut up in chunks and tough. My dad and husband had the ribs. They both got a half rack very little meet on the bone and they both said the meat tasted old and the sauce was nothing special. The quality was just not there for the price they are charging. My party and I had a great experience at the Duck Inn restaurant! Walking into the restaurant, we were graciously welcomed by the staff, and seated right away. Our server, Alex, took care of us and was very knowledgable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations and I ended up trying the duck/steak/shrimp trio. The duck was amazing and was very flavorful and seasoned to perfection, the steak was cooked to my liking, except the shrimp was a bit fishy for me. The food was solid but unfortunately our service was by a young waitress that gave attitude and kept disagreeing with us. Maybe she had a off night. The duck was indeed very tasty and I preferred the apple sauce from the sampler. French onion soup was serviceable but a little too salty. The salad was very plain but generally what was expected. The mashed potatoes were delicious with garlic and butter, but for some reason the menu said we had a choice of rice, potato, or pasta, but the waitress kept telling us we didn't have a choice. Strange and confusing. She also wouldn't bring bread for us when we asked. We had a cocktail which didn't taste very good but it was strong. If it weren't for the service, I would give it four stars. The other reviewers seem to have had a good service experience so I think ours was atypical. We are from out of town so don't know what quality if restaurant to expect in this area. Eight of us dined this past Saturday night. It was a disappointment. Our first disappointment, was the fact that they ran out of the duck breast Wellington which was the reason I came to the restaurant And it was only 7 o'clock! So I scrambled and got the half roasted duck. Very bland and dry and very small portion of mushroom sauce that was served on the side which had only one mushroom. Our wonderful server Donna, brought out an additional sauce but it was so sweet and flavorless. Two of our friends got the cashew encrusted duck breast. It was quite anemic and overwhelmingly crusted with nuts. The rice was just plain white rice not the pilaf everyone was raving about and sauce was served on the side. This is not the dish I heard rave reviews about! My husband got the prime rib and I will say that was delicious! They did charge extra for horseradish sauce which is ridiculous. Also we did not get the homemade bread basket /crackers with our cheese until quite later in the meal after we had eaten the cellophane wrapped breadsticks and crackers first. We paid for the relish trays which were good but no olives or pickles. I'm going to assume there's a new chef because none of these dishes sound like those same dishes reviewed in the past. They need to get their act together or the duck Inn will be on its way out! read more

I usually don't post restaurant reviews but, something has changed when we went last Wednesday for the Prime Rib special. Not only was the prime rib sold out by 7:00 pm, so was the featured potato dish. How can you run out of the special food selection by 7:00? So, I went to order my second favorite dish, the Weiner Schnitzel. I totally agree with a prior review that what was served to us was by no means weiner schnitzel! What we got was a very thick, soggy piece of something that had a very strange flavor. It was also full of gristle. True weiner schnitzel should be a thin breaded pan-fried veal cutlet. This was nothing of the sort. We complained to the waitress who indicated that there was a newer chef and he changed the recipe. I will never order that again and I recommend anyone thinking of ordering that, just say no! It was that bad! read more

Thia is one of those places that people flock to so we thought we would try it. Arrived around 5:00 on a Friday night to a fairly packed house. Had 2 drinks at the bar and bartender was less than friendly and charged us differently for each round of drinks. We were seated fairly quickly as we had called ahead to get our name put on a "preferred" list (they "don't take reservations on Friday night"). Uh, isnt that what reservations are? But, whatever... Waitress was not friendly, didn't ask if we wanted another cocktail and did not offer up the specials. We had to pry the information out of her and she seemed annoyed. We were never given any bread basket that so many spoke of and for 4 people we had to share a desert dish of cole slaw (meh). We each had the fish fry, 2 were fried, one baked and one had perch (not a.u.c.e.) The baked fish was like shoe leather, fried pieces were hit or miss. Some were fishy, some were leathery and some was ok. And I mean ok. Not much seasoning or flavor...just ok. Perch was good but the french fries tasted terrible and stale. Potato pancakes were cold. So if you feel the need to experience an old fashioned supper club, don't go here. Their regular menu is extremely pricey and if the fish fry was any indication of quality, you are going to be very disappointed. For the life of me I cannot understand the amount of people flocking to this place. Really not worth the drive. And dont get me started on the cleanliness...ugh! read more

We just moved to WI from the west coast and Mom came out to visit us after our first 6 months exploring the beautiful state. We wanted to do a tradition supper club so I asked around this one kept coming up. Beautiful drive out to the middle of nowhere and there is the Duck Inn. The location is cool, the building is old school and the interior was as expected, rustic with WI flare. The drinks where just ok, I had an old fashion that was weak to say the least. We ordered the Gorgonzola steak app which was pretty bad. The steak was over done and just drenched in this cheese, oil sauce. They had grouper on for the daily special. Asked if it was fresh and was told no. Asked if any fish was fresh and was told no. Ended up getting the trio with duck, orange roughy and shrimp. All just ok at best. The three of us ended up being 170 bucks which is fine but felt like we ate a 50 dollar meal that was just warmed up for us. We might be done with supper clubs. I would find something else read more

Went there on a sun eve @ 6pm (b4 mem day ) . I called ahead and she suggested we make a reservation and I'm Glad we did. The main dining room was very noisy so we chose the "lounge ". It was quiet and more intimate. The "duck" theme is a bit much; bathrooms were beautiful. Food = great great and more great. What else can I say ?! I ordered the half pheasant. It was juicy. Cooked to perfection and the mushroom gravy on top was so delicious!!!!! Fiancé had chicken cordon bleu and it was very tasty. We both had old fashioneds. We're pretty good the bartender that eve knew how to make em Now on to the service. Sadly not great :(. I had really high hopes as we don't eat out @ "nice " restaurants like this very often. Lori was our server and you could see she had too many tables. I still tipped her 20% but I was pretty disappointed that they didn't have more staff. I had to flag down a bus boy for more water , after Lori said she'd get us more. But the worst was the waiting for a check. We waited half an hour !!! That's a ridiculous amount of time. Finally I gave up and went up to the hostess to ask for it. I wanted to order a dessert but I didn't wanna wait for it !!! We just returned from the Duck Inn after our first trip and I would recommend it, without hesitation. Our server (Omar) was attentive and personable, without being pushy or hurried. Granted, there weren't too many people there tonight (but it was later on a Monday evening). My son had the Wasabi Salmon, which he loved! My partner ordered the duck, I ordered the blackened rib-eye, and we went halves on everything. Both entrees were delicious and generously portioned. Salads/soups were good, and the breads/crackers/butter/cheese were plentiful. As noted by others, the decor is pure Wisconsin Supper Club which we found to be entirely delightful. I am a supper club junkie... love driving to different clubs around Wisconsin - I have been here a few times with the family... each time was a big success.... the steaks are amazing - and my son raves about the roasted duck with cherry jubilee sauce. I LOVE the Duck Inn!! It's such a cute find...old supper club. Adorable and rustic. The food is excellent and the atmosphere brings you back many years. This, in my opinion, is the perfect place for a winter meal. We tend to have many dinners during the winter months because the food, large fireplace, and overall feel of the dining room is so cozy and comforting! If you haven't been...you must go!
