I looked over their menus on Yelp and even made sure I looked up their menu on their official website before ordering from them in person. It seems that they recently updated their menus and a lot - if not, most of the prices went up. My original order was sweet and sour pork ribs and the house special boiled fish fillet but had to opt for the shredded pork with garlic sauce because they took out the sweet and sour pork ribs. They raised the price for the house special boiled fish fillet dish by $3 ($16.95 to $19.95). Three stars because the food was okay but was blindsided by the change of items on their menu and their website didn't reflect those changes. I was craving Bao (dumplings) & saw this place was the closest. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. I had a Lychee Martini and it was very good. My kids loved the Lo Mein noodles. I would say that they are very authentic so the seasoning is lighter, which made a difference in the taste compared to other places I've eaten the same type of food. Found this place on Yelp and stopped on our way home- excited to eat inside at a Chinese place as ours are all take out! This place was overwhelmed with business and there was only one waiter who was also being the host! There were countless to go orders! Considering the busyness, they really did a great job. The waiter was super friendly and personable. The decor of the restaurant is super nice. It looks upscale. We had the soup dumplings- wish we had ordered more dumplings honestly. We got the Kung Lao chicken, eggplant and green beans- all were very flavorful and worth getting again! My mom even enjoyed the food and she's pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food. Was in the area and came by for dinner on Saturday. Boy was I surprised (pleasantly) by the quality of the food. The taste on almost all the dishes were very legit and the Peking duck especially was on point. They had chefs there making the crepes fresh (as it should) and the duck dish was also two eats (duck and duck soup). The eggplant, chicken, and other dishes were all pretty authentic in flavor. I'm from the Chicagoland area and I've come to the harsh reality that Texas Chinese food lacks a depth of soul that I am accustomed too. I ordered the beef fried rice and the duck with fixings. The fried rice had the flavor depths of a lean cuisine that you added a bit of fresh vegetables to and the duck was dry. I was most looking forward to the duck as it's in the namesake of this establishment I assumed they'd perfected their craft. I would have done better going to a Chinese grocer and getting the fresh smoked duck that the small shops inside often provide. For Dan Dan noodles, half Peking duck, crispy spicy chicken and a pork soup dumpling, it was $. Service was pretty good. They check on you a couple of times Dan Dan noodles - bland. It does have the numbing chili oil effect but it just tasted like oily spaghetti noodles. Crispy spicy chicken - they give lots of chicken and it is slightly more flavorful but doesn't taste quite as authentic. It was crispy. Half Peking duck - the Peking duck style was closer to traditional but the duck was a little more dry. That would be my overall complaint. Other than that, it was pretty good. This place has been on my list for sometime, and I was excited to move on this side of town to be able to try it out for dinner. We ordered of course the pecking duck, soup dumplings, thick flat noodles stir fry, and walnut shrimp. Everything seem to be just okay given that pecking duck is not served with the traditional Bao that most of us are used to. The "tortilla" as I would called it had slightly a raw flour taste which made it less pleasing. 3/5 Flat noodles just seem like your average stir fry dish. I looked up the restaurant on Yelp of course and was ecstatic to see they had Peking Duck as well!!!!!!! I also have never tried soup dumplings and I just couldn't resist. This is not your typical Chinese food restaurant in the burbs, they specialize in Szechuan cuisine, so do yourself a favor and order that instead of Americanized Chinese food. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed this space looks like a former sushi restaurant with a sushi bar area in the center and seating areas flanking to the left and right. Turns out, it was a former sushi restaurant. Service was very friendly the entire visit. My order consisted of beef flat noodles (typical Chinese dish), cumin beef, shrimp and sea urchin soup dumplings, and eggplant in garlic sauce (typical Chinese dish). Yes, I ordered a mix of Americanized and Szechuan. The cumin beef was only a little spicy but I did enjoyed this dish. The soup dumplings were good, and I typically order pork ones, but just wanted to try these. They were alright, just not very flavorful. The other two dishes were good but not great. Y'all know I love me some duck and some Chinese food, BUT THIS PLACE IS NOT IT. I came here because the picture of the food looked really appealing. However, the food is the definition of "looks are deceiving." The food and service is terrible. I'll start with the food: Peking duck: they charge ~$50 for full duck and ~$25 for half duck. I ordered half duck because I wanted to try other food. The half duck does not come with soup ($25 and no soup?!) and only comes with 5 pancakes (how is 5 small pancakes enough for half a duck?). Also, I'm not sure how it's called half duck because the amount looked more like 1/3 of a duck. Further, the skin of the duck is NOT CRISPY at all. The duck just taste like oil and nothing special. Honestly better off wrapping pork belly. Additionally, the pancakes suck. When I tried to peel one off from another, they just stick together and then break half way. Doesn't even taste authentic. They also don't really give you duck sauce, it's pretty much watered down sweet and sour sauce. Dan Dan noodles: I was looking for a sichuan taste in these noodles. It's just noodles doused in chili oil with a strong peanut taste. It wasn't even spicy at all. Sweet and sour pork: not what I was expecting. It wasn't tangy at all like your typical sweet and sour pork. To me, the taste is similar to a sloppy joe, maybe because there is a bit of a bbq taste to this dish. Salt and pepper prawn: I can't help but feel like this is a cheap tasting fake calamari. Like imagine going to a typical Chinese restaurant and you order fried calamari - this is 10x worse than that. The batter is pretty thick and it overpowers the prawn and I honestly can't taste it. Even the rice wasn't even good. I typically don't waste food, but I did not box anything to take home. Let's talk about the service now. We got seated and it took 10 minutes for the server to ask us what we would like to drink. It wasn't even busy in the restaurant either. Next, when we asked for another order of pancakes, it took us asking three times for the server to finally say that they are cooking more. Usually, if it's busy, I can understand that. However, it wasn't busy at all. So I had to wait another 10 minutes to get more pancakes while my duck is just sitting there getting cold. I am paying premium price for a "half" duck and I had to wait for more pancakes? That's pretty ridiculous. Overall, I would not suggest to eat here, especially if you want to eat Peking duck. We had the hot and sour soup which was somewhat fragrant but not great...have had much better. We tried the shumai which I would say the best of the foot select. It was hot and pretty flavorful. The duck, while having the proper moisture was totally flavorless. For the price I was definitely unimpressed. P.F. Chang's has better duck for the same price. The chicken soup dumplings were just OK...but nothing to rave about. Scallion pancakes lacked in flavor but would have better as a wrap for the duck than the thin flavorless tortillas it came with. First time here. Great crispy chicken egg rolls! Probably the best I ever had. I also tried the combination lo mein. It was very good. I'll be back for sure! The service that night was ok. I don't know if the young man was new or had things on his mind, but he was forgetful of things we asked for (3 times) like lemon for water, extra green onions in the shrimp fried rice, extra napkins, those kinds of things. I won't knock the place for less than average service (everyone has an off-night) because the food made up for it. I will knock them for not having fortune cookies though. I used to LOVE this place. In fact there maybe be an older review where I wrote that 5+ stars was not enough. The last 3 times we have had it has been a bit of a disappointment. We have a pretty regular order that we have at least 2x a month and something is way different in the recipes. Unfortunately there is no consistencies anymore in the dishes.
