Since the Duck is not near my 'hood it was off my radar screen. Boy I am glad that some friends took us there on a Friday night to hear Scott and his band. Keep yelling out your favorite song and the band could play it and play it well. Everything from Southern rock to Pearl Jam. No pressure to buy drinks and a friendly crowd that starts out older('40s and '50s) but gets younger('20s) as it gets later. Just a fun place to have a good time and escape the Boca scene. I used to come here all the time and everyone has always been really cool but tonight things took a turn for the worst. We sat outside and wanted to close the window because the amps from the band were very loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. The owner, who was very intoxicated, came outside and was very aggressive and screaming, accusing us of trying to break the window. Will bring my business where it's appreciated. read more

Went here for lunch with my finance on her 1 hour lunch break. There was no wait and only 1 other couple in there. Without bashing them I'll just be simple about the experience: The service was really slow (took 60+ min to have lunch as their only customers), the food was decent "bar food". I had a Gyro which had kinda dry/crusty meat, and instead of traditional gyro cucumber sauce that the server told me it would have, it was obviously just sour cream with a little bit of cucumbers cut up in it. The wifey had a salad which was good. The atmosphere was ok. All the doors were open air and the other couple was smoking. So not a great place if you don't like eating second hand smoke for lunch. The big surprise was (the 10 min long process) when we were paying the bill; They didn't know about the Yelp check in special for 20% off the meal. The manager (or owner) didn't even know it was on there saying "I thought that expired". I'll stress that they DID honor it and I was grateful. I'd consider going back there only if I'm in that area for some drinks and catching a game, but not as a meal and certainly not on a business lunch break. read more

This place is conveniently located on the corner off of federal. We walked in doors open and cigarette smoking inside. Not a fan of that. They had great happy hour deals! We had two beers and its was less than 5 bucks . Unfortunately, the service was terrible. There was one bartender who just complained about everything and everyone! Serving...Rotten freezer burnt chicken wings, was refused by a customer, the elderly man explained to the arrogant barmaid and half witted cook, numerous times that food was rotten and the dead part were pulled off the chicken wings after thawing out in the open then deep fried...after 8 times of being told he was wrong he called the barmaid stupid, only then did she understand that he wasn't going to be paying for the I'll fated food...he payed for his drink and left being told never to comeback because he refused to eat the rotten door...this place was cited 5 times with health violation just last Feb. Not a bad place to head in for a beer. The staff is extremely friendly which makes for a nice atmosphere. There is a TouchTunes jukebox in there with wifi capabilities so you can play songs on it right from your phone. The tap list is great, offering many local beers as well as the usuals. I only had the appetizers when they but I can tell you that the chicken strips were great! I wouldn't come here for a full dinner though, this is more of a "meet the guys for a round or two and watch the game" type of place. I recommend trying it! read more

honestly, kind of creepy. the waitress was so nice, but i wouldn't come back because the overall atmosphere made me uncomfortable. the place was old and just like your average pub-restaurant, and the people were also creepy. the calamari tasted like they came out of a package and so did the mozzarella sticks; they made my stomach hurt afterwards. the pizza was good, i recommend, just the crust was a bit burnt in some parts. they had darts which i saw some people enjoy as well as other games. bathrooms were scary too and it seemed like it wasn't made to be one, but whatever. read more

I really love the duck and have been coming here for years. Unfortunately my last experience was really bad. There's been talks of a bartender being rude and uncomfortable with customers. I've always avoided her because I didn't want to ruin a good time but last night Lisa said some really rude comments to me that felt out of no where and unnecessary. I was so uncomfortable that I left. Again we love this place but when you're out trying to have a good time with friends that last thing you need is for a bartender to be nasty. I didn't want to give the duck a bad rating because of one bartender but I did want to bring this to attention. read more

This bar is way toooo smokey. Don't care to eat thru a smokey haze. Had jalapeño poppers which were average and served with a sweet chili sauce which does not go with poppers. Ordered a Chicago Italian beef sandwich which they should be embarrassed to name it that. Take it from this Chicago girl this isn't even in the ballpark of a Chicago Italian beef sand which. Also what they call gardinera isn't gardinera. It was pickled vinegar vegetables. A gardinera from Chicago is packed in oil not vinegar. Please change the name of your sand which or just stop serving it it's embarrassing to Chicago. I do not recommend eating here. Also there's no table service. read more

This is a great neighborhood bar that when people ask me how to describe the Duck I tell them it is just like cheers. The Duck has a Great crowd of people of all ages, great specials and amazing bar food. On Thursday-Saturday they have live music and like others have stated they have a huge beer selection. I was looking to find a place to order some good wings for the football game last night. I had heard that The Duck Tavern had good wings. When ordering, I gave instructions that I want them extra crispy with the sauces on the side. When I got home all of the sauces were spilt in the bottom of the container, the wings were not crispy at all and were tasteless. I had to throw them out I couldn't even finish them. Great place with a laid back vibe and tons of beer from around the world! Complete the 100 beers around the world and get your name on a brick in the wall. I think thats pretty cool and their beers aren't heavily priced. Go around happy hour and sure enough you'll get drunk -- watch out for Boca cops tho, they sometimes wait just outside. WARNING! THIS IS AN ALL-SMOKING BAR! There may be food, but that's incidental. We like dive bars, but should have known when the sign outside said "smoking allowed". We don't smoke, and don't like the smell of cigarette smoke, but we figured how bad could it be. Real bad! The ash trays on every (dirty) table were filled with butts. We got some menus from the bar (no servers that we could see). But after a few minutes, the smoke was just too much. Perhaps the food is great, but we'll never know. read more
