First time I went there they were moving in then went back a couple of months later had the donuts place was ok staff was very friendly got a great deal. Then I went back several months later wow they remodeled the entire place all new furniture. Met the owner Kevin, what a nice guy to do business with. From the reviews it seems like this place is popular for specialty doughnuts. If you want cereal on your doughnut try this place out, but avoid it for anything else. My husband went to buy croissant breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts. He paid extra to have a croissant sandwich, but they gave him plain croissants. By the way, these were the worst looking croissants I've seen in my life. Not flaky at all, basically regular bread with a coat of butter on top. They were out of chocolate bars so I couldn't try those (how can they be out of such a basic item??). They must take Old Fashioned literally, because my Old Fashioned looked like it was two days old. One of co workers brought donuts for his team a couple weeks ago and I was impress of the variety they had but didn't get to try it. So last week I wanted to try it and as well as bring some for the supervisors and my team and plus thought I check out this donut place since I usually always go to the same one every time and its close by my work lol. I came here a few weekend ago because my supervisor is friends with the owner and recommended the place. A very good recommendation! The employees are friendly, they make it seem like you're good friends with them. Their donuts are light and airy like Krispy Kreme, but not as sweet, which I love!! We also tried their creme puffs which were super light and delicious. We bought some donut holes for the kids and they ended up giving us more than we asked for, which was really cool. I think Ducky's Donuts is a must try. They have very creative donuts (similar to voodoo donuts or Java time) with a ton of flavors. Ducky's took an interesting order from us and made a donut for my bachelorette. It was pretty f'ng amazing. And Their cream puffs...OMG! It is messy but so light and airy. The ones with custard are delicious. I brought the donuts to brunch (idk why I brought it into a restaurant but I did) and all my friends tried the donuts. They loved it! They were very impressed with the creativeness of the flavors, the colorful ness of the donuts, and we ate them up pretty quickly. Moved to Fair Oaks about 5 years ago to find that there are very few decent donut places around. So I (and my kids) are ecstatic to have a really good donut shop nearby. I like that they do the fancy/crazy "Voodoo" style varieties but also keep plenty of the classics on hand. They also do oversized donuts for parties. Family Donuts at San Juan and Winding is also solid but a bit far from where I live. Donut Stop on Hazel next to Mikunis seems to have gone downhill in the past year or so. Last time I was there, saw a guy deliver several trays of donuts mid-morning so doesn't look like they even make them on the premises. And their selection can be extremely limited if you don't get there early. read more

Went here this past Sunday, and i read great reviews about the doughnuts and from the pictures they looked amazing. But sadly when I got there it was just a poor selection and none of the fancy cronuts that I read about were there. It just seemed like a normal doughnut shop, but to make it worse all the ones I got tasted stale and like nothing. Even the ones with fun and different toppings tasted blah. Very Happy that Duckies Doughnuts has taken over. The old doughnut shop was always inconstant with open times and never had a good selection. Once Duckies took over everything changed. I can always be assured I can go in the morning and the shop will be open. They have always had a great selection of doughnuts to choose from. I love the different type of doughnut holes for my kids. They are very patient while my kids try and figure out what they want. Never had any problems with any stale doughnuts. We love walking over since we live close enough to do so. read more

The Donut Shack just opened a few days ago - the 7th of Sept I think. I've been there twice. The first time I wasn't impressed, but didn't want to write a review based on one day, in case it was an off day, so I went back again today. Stil not impressed. When you walk through the door, it does LOOK quite impressive. HUGE selection of some VERY good looking donuts. The staff is friendly. Good location. But the taste just wasn't there. I wish they'd sell non-fat milk instead of just whole & 2% but that's pretty typical so I wasn't surprised. But let's talk about the donuts. That's the important part, right? Both days I got a french cruller with chocolate on top. These are typically my favorite donut since they are light and moist. Oh yum. But the french donut here cost $1.10 for ONE and it seemed like a day old donut. It was kinda dry and just meh. I won't order that here ever again. The first day I got a bar donut with chocolate. It was ok. Not huge complaints but it wasn't amazing. The second day I tried a cake donut which had chocolate and nuts. Again it kinda seemed like a day old donut. Wasn't super fresh tasting. Maybe they thought they'd be busier and made too many and decided to sell day old donuts? I dunno - but if this was their version of a fresh donut, I'll pass. So probably won't be going back - I much prefer the Donut Spot near Greenback and Hazel. read more

I am very disappointed in Ducky. My two sons walked over a mile to enjoy s free donut on national donut day. When they ordered there donut the cashier demanded they paid $2.50 for the donut. I guess they Don't believe in National Donut Day. Good ending I drove to The Donut Shop and they gladly give them each two donuts. They said they were the best donuts they ever had. Love this place! This is a real gem in the Orangevale area. There are many different donut options nearby, but no place has the friendly, generous service like Ducky Donuts. Every time I come in I am either offered additional donuts at no charge or free coffee. (Just because I mentioned it, doesn't mean that that's what they will offer you, but that's just in my experience) They are always looking to provide the extra mile experience, and that goes a long way with customers who appreciate people who care.
