Brunch menu looked bomb so we returned couple weeks after new year and now have tried to make it a Saturday ritual since we loved it so much. Such a great vibe in this establishment. My friends and I stumbled upon this place a bit after midnight on New Years and, initially, had a wonderful time. The bouncer and bartenders were all very inviting and the life of the party. When we were leaving a couple of hours later, the owner, who had been working and drinking on the job, hastily kicked us out and berated my friend (with homophobic slurs) for asking to retrieve his jacket, which was still inside of the bar. After retrieving it, the owner continued to verbally abuse my friend and the rest of our group for no apparent reason. The owner then proceeded to go inside, retrieved a large metal rod, and threatened to "wack" and "f--- us up". Although we were leaving, he proceeded to shove each of us and came very close to hitting us with the metal rod. This was shocking to say the least. A police report will be filed and this will be reported to the Better Business Bureau. Luckily, the somebody managed to film this. Terrible... read more

Food and cocktail wise, this place is great. Their burger is phenomenal!! The fries are really great too! But we came in around 7:30pm and it took us **3 hours** to finally get a table; there's also no coat rack in the restaurant so as you're waiting with a drink near the bar (which has limited seating, aka you are going to be standing most likely, which we were), you're pretty much holding your jacket on one hand, and holding your drink/phone on the other in a very crowded and noisy space. It was hard to hear people because the restaurant was so loud and I felt like I had to scream the whole time. They don't take reservation unless it's a party or 8 or more. read more

Stopped by this place and its just what the neighborhood needed! Such a cool new spot with amazing food and drinks. Great atmosphere and vibe and they show the games as well. Also noticed they had an awesome music playlist which is always key in places like this. Menu highlights : definitely get the burger, fried chicken and crab dip. Love this place! I come here with my friends all the time. The cocktails are dreamy and the vibe is upscale without being pretentious. (Ex. They offer both caviar and burgers on the menu). I would definitely recommend coming here for late night drinks or for Sunday brunch. I see that a few other reviewers have some scathing things to say about their bouncer but I've honestly never seen him be anything other than super friendly and a sweetheart. read more

TERRIBLE STAFF: specifically probably the most rude bouncer in the tri-state area. We came with a group of people around 7pm for a 30th birthday celebration and he excluded half of our party because they were males. I genuinely did not understand what was going on so I politely asked why they couldn't join and he was SO rude, saying if I keep "telling him home to run his place (I never did that?), I'm getting kicked out." Last time I checked you're a bar in the West Village, not a club looking to be filled with girls for esthetic, so maybe fit in with the rest of your great neighborhood and don't make a fool of yourself yelling at people outside of your establishment at an early hour. Arrived at our hotel late and actually had a hard time finding a good place to eat. We found Due West on Yelp, and arrived five minutes before the kitchen closed at 11. My classic Manhattan and her cosmopolitan were excellent, as were the fried cauliflower, shaved Brussel sprouts and scallops. Jen was our server -- excellent! Due West is by far my favorite new spot in the West Village. The music is on point and the weekend crowd is super hot, a great place to take a first date or find one . Everything about this place is upscale and yet the vibe is super relaxed. I spent the Super Bowl there this year and have been back many times since. You have to try the bottled cocktails, the Agri-Cola is my favorite and the build your own Old Fashion was a crowd favorite amongst my friends. Oh and the food! The menu is unbelievable, far superior to any bar food I've ever had, the crab dip, the burger, the fried cauliflower are musts! They even have caviar and oysters! We walked in and came out happy. They have fun eclectic drinks. The food was quite good though not large portions. The ricotta and honey was delicious. The octopus was quite tasty as were the scallops though that was very small. The chocolate tart was underwhelming. But overall great drinks spot. Stop by here on advice from a coworker on a Sunday night. The place was not overly crowded. We waited a few minutes for a table to get cleared off. We got the shishito peppers since everyone seemed to have them on their table. They were probably the best ones we have ever had. We also added the baker brie, which was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were very good and the service was excellent. The crowd is pretty young (under 35) and the music wasn't too loud. "Meh" is the best thing I can say about this place. They don't do the little things to make it even an average place for the West Village. For instance, I believe every seat in the restaurant is a stool (ergo, no backs on the seats). Yet, there is no coat check or coat racks anywhere. So, you either sit on your coat, wear it while you're eating/drinking, or throw it on the floor. They don't even bring coasters, drink napkins, or straws with the drinks. Not a big deal, but little oversights like that add up in a neighborhood full of top-notch restaurants. The food ranges from "pretty decent" to "nope". Their most popular dish is the "fried chicken bites", which are literally just chicken nuggets. They were pretty good, but I could've gotten better ones at Chick-fil-a at 1/3 the price. The other food was nowhere near as good. I didn't hate the place, but there is nothing good enough about it to make me want to go back. Sad, because I really wanted to like this place. read more

Cool space, great wine and cocktail program, but two problems that will prevent me from coming back. 1) Wait staff didn't know the wine list and couldn't answer basic questions about the wines by the glass. They have some great producers and wines on the list, and I'd expect to be able to at least get informed answers to questions about the glass pours. 2) Noise level was crazy. At 9pm on a weeknight music was way too loud to have a conversation. Didn't match the ambience of the space. This place has potential but with wines generally at $15+ a glass I'll go somewhere I know the staff are familiar with the program. read more

Last minute plans on NYE brought us to this elegant little spot. It just so happened that this was their first night open as well- and let me tell you it was amazing! We started off with drinks, I had the Greenwich which was probably the best drink at the table. It has gin, absinthe and toasted rosemary and the taste was on point! We then ordered the hot crab dip and the cheese board and both were amazing l must say. The crab dip had all the right balance of flavors and the cheese board had his really yummy creamy cheese that I just loved but to be honest the whole thing was just spectacular. We came back another time and some friends ordered additional items including the octopus, chickpea fritters,beef tartare and the chocolate mousse dessert and they were all delicious, the presentation was on point too. As a person who travels the country for work I will be back for sure when I'm in the city. With all that NYC has to offer Due West definitely does not disappoint not to mention, the chefs are HOT! read more
