I've been going to Duffy's on a regular basis for a few years now. I guess it's time I write something about them. 1.Service-Always great. There are a few regular waitresses and bar tenders there. All are friendly and fast. Very attentive and go out of their way for you. 2.Bar-If you're a beer connoisseur then this is not the place for you. They have the standard brews that every other bar carries. Maybe even less than that. Very rarely will you see anything interesting. That said, if you like pitchers of miller light for $10 bucks then you're good to go. It's not a mix drink kind of place either. Don't ask for anything too involved if you're not drinking beer. Kitchen-It's all standard bar food IMO. Nothing ground breaking or inventive. But don't get me wrong because it's very good. They have regular burger specials like their bleu cheese burger and their chicken burger. Both are very good. As for their signature Duffy burger, it's very good. Get it medium with onion rings and you'll be happy. Their waffle fries are good too. As for it being "the best burger on the island"? Well thats a stretch. They serve it on an english muffin, get it with bacon and cheese. It's good. But not the best on Staten Island. Parking-Decent. If you can get a spot around back off of Bement ave then you should be good. Parking of Forest ave can be a challenge as that neighborhood can be busy. Price-Great. I happened to be on Staten Island and decided to drop by Duffy's for their storied burger. It does live up to the reputation as the best burger on Staten Island, but also one of the best in the city. The nondescript tavern can be found in a line of shops on Forest Ave, but inside it is a nice space with lots of locals, professionals and a mix of ages all who come out for its great food and drink. I did not have the Reuben sandwich, but it also appeared to be delicious, and a lot of people were ordering it. The burger is outstanding, but not my favorite in the city. It is served, similar to Rotier's in Nashville, on an English muffin and in a simple style that I like with few condiments. You have a choice to add more toppings, but I kept mine simple with cheddar cheese, onion and mayo. The burger patty is thick and juicy, and near perfect. What would make it absolutely perfect? Grilling it on a charcoal grill instead of a flame grilled -- I am picky about my burgers as my regular readers know -- I don't consider them great if they are flame grilled. Charcoal taste is required for me to be really impressed (I guess childhood nostalgia is why). However, that aside, this is a large, simple and delicious burger that is worth the trip. Drink prices were reasonable, and the service was fast and friendly. If you need a little Staten Island in your life, this is a place to get it. read more

Burger? Duffy's it is, then! I honestly don't know how anything else on the menu is-I've never had anything else. Duffy's has clearly been around forever. It's an FDNY/NYPD supportive place, it has that kind of old vibe to it--character, if you will. I also like that you can see into the kitchen-the very small kitchen. Duffy's is our neighborhood bar with plenty of regulars. My husband and I go there often. Its a small bar, dim lighting with lots of personality! There isn't too much to say except best burger in Staten Island. It's a pub so expect this when you go. There isn't much in the way of seating and the the place is pretty packed on weekends. But if you go early enough on a Friday or Saturday night, you should be able to get a small table. I can't speak for much of the menu. I can tell you that the nachos and wings are decent, not disappointing but not anything special either. The burgers, on the other hand, are much more than you'd expect from bar food and exactly what you want in a greasy-cheesy burger. Fun and loud place to take your family for dinner. There is not much seating so I don't know how they accommodate parties larger than four. If you want to avoid walking through the bar crowd for dinner park in the rear and come in through the back door. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The burger is definitely one of the best on the island, don't know if it is the best though. It's thick, smothered in cheese and served on a warm English muffin. Not exactly what I was expecting. The menu was bland. Not many options and they charge extra for everything. Onions tomatoes lettuce. When I'm ordering a burger I'm expecting a burger. If it's the best then be the best. The muffin they put it on was soggy. And never the less I was seated next to the kitchen door and the kitchen was so filthy. The man cooking didn't even have gloves on. The waitress was more concerned on what was going on in her phone and the guy next to the bar then serving us. Don't get the buffalo chicken sandwich. I have heard about the hamburgers here and had to have one.. I was not disappointed! As good as the burger was it was topped by the staff. This is is a cool and friendly place. Even the chef, Godfrey , not only asked how the food was- how often do you get to tell anything to the chef?- he gave us interesting beer recommendations. And our waitress, Susan, was so incredibly accommodating. I asked for a beer based on my lunch partner's recommendation, instead of committing me to that untested choice she brought me a sample. If I was on that Food Network show "The Best Thing I've Ever Ate" Duffys would be the first thought that comes to mind when I think of the perfect burger. You really can't beat their cheeseburger. Add ons are extra but for $11, this cheeseburger and french fry meal is the best bang you will ever get for your buck. "Best Burger in Staten Island"? People should raise their standards. I thought I remembered them using the large English muffins the first time I came here. That was a good burger. After that, it never tasted the same. I make a better seasoned burger at home. I love the English muffin as a bun. No one will contest that but the burger was thick, dry, and bland. The cheese was melted but quickly dried up on the bun as it was waiting or it to be delivered to my table. If I am in the mood for a real deal no non-sense cheeseburger - I go to Duffy's. I like that the burger is real juicy, about 3/4 of a lb and on an English Muffin. The English Muffin takes in some of the juices which is a nice touch. I like mozzarella on mine and ask for rare or medium rare. My wife gets Cheddar which is also real good. Criss Cut Fries and Sweet Potato fries are a must. Get the chili with cheese and onions as well. I place Duffy's in the same category as PJ Clarks and Corner Bistro in Manhattan. Normally, when I order a burger I'm scared to order medium because it's normally not cooked right, but Duffys ALWAYS cooks the burger right. Came here for late lunch. The waitress was awesome. She put cartoon network on for my girlfriend son. She brought over some crayons and it kept him busy.
