    Garlic Soft Bread
    Airi G.

This place is one of my all-time favorite local bakeries and it's my first time buying bread from this location. I love the taro bread but I wanted to switch it up today so I tried the sesame bread and the garlic bread. I feel like the sesame flavor wasn't that strong and it was a little disappointing that the filling was not evenly distributed. The left side was all bread (which was so fluffy and delicious) and the right side was only sesame. The garlic bread was a lot better. I usually don't go for savory bread so the fact that I like this one says something. It wasn't heavy and overly greasy like most Asian bakeries but instead had a very garlicky center.

Matcha and Matcha Red Bean Bread! Taste delicious!

So happy that Duke Bakery is opened in Walnut on Grand and Amar which is across of Mt. Sac (Mt. San Antonio college). I just knew it until today! They didn't put their store name outside (only Bakery) so I didn't know until I went inside and saw their packaging bags. It used be a Korean owned bakery called Walnut Bakery. I always love Duke Bakery coz they have high quality bread even though the prices are slightly higher than others. I especially like their matcha red bean bread, the size is huge and it's filled with lots of red bean inside and taste delicious. And the other one I like is Chinese Wolfberry bread (Goji), tasty and healthy! I don't need to go to the one in Rowland Heights anymore. Btw, I can still use my Duke Bakery VIP card to get extra 10% discount. I hope they will have cakes option on the display though.

Only a couple loaves per flavor.

I've passed this location several times in the past, but it was always closed and out of business. I recently saw a neon "Open" sign so I decided to stop by. Imagine my surprise to discover that it's a Duke's Bakery location! Nothing indicated that it was Duke's except for a little logo sign on the bottom corner of their window. The sign above their shop is a generic "Bakery" sign in yellow. The paper sign on the door says they are closed on Sundays. I went in around 10:00 am and was hoping for a bunch of fresh bread smells wafting at me, but there was none. It actually looked quite sad upon entry. There were mostly empty shelves surrounding the shop, there were a few breads in the center, with only about 2 - 3 loafs per flavor. Not sure what they would do if they get more customers like me who buy a bunch of breads at once...do they close once they run out of inventory? The prices are higher than other Asian bakeries, but the size of the breads are really generous and I really love how creative they get with their flavors. I did pick up a few items, and it was hit or miss with the freshness. While most were soft and yummy, a couple were stale. I don't think they bake in house, since I went early in the morning and none of their items were warm or had condensation, and I don't know how long they keep their breads out, or maybe they drive it over from another Duke's location? I tried to ask the lady working there when the shop opened but she didn't speak English so we just kept our communication to smiles. Overall, this is an awesome bakery for yummy breads - every one I've tried is really good! Just cross your fingers that you get fresh ones.

Usually go to the one in rowland heights which is a bigger store. I'm happy that they have a chain in walnut , taste wise the bread is good but unfortunately it wasn't that fresh and kind of dry.. . You can tell it wasn't baked the day of . But overall place is clean & they have good variety of bread options.

However, parking itself is never that hard to find. There's plenty of seating inside and some outdoor seating as well. I do like the floral decor and twinkling lights that they have at this location. The other Paris Baguettes I go to are usually, or were usually, part of a mall, so it's nice that this has the space that it does. I've never gone when it's super busy, but there's always other patrons there either chatting outside and hanging out or working on something inside. You can get savory and/or sweet pastries, sandwiches, full cakes or just slices, drinks, and everything else that you can get at other Paris Baguettes. Stock is decent. Sometimes the pastries are a bit hit and miss. Cronuts are a bit pricy and oily, but I never have issues with their sausage/hot dog buns and cream breads.

My first bite was very dry and I wasn't sure what I was tasting. It didn't taste like crab for sure, so I had a second bite. It was bad. I asked one of the workers if I could switch it out with anything, she said she'll ask the manager. The assistant manager came and told me that she cannot swap it out and that I should have read in the description that it's only imitation crab meat. Ok, I can own that, I could have read the fine print. But it wasn't just the taste, it was also the texture, the over fried dried dough... I really wish that she could have been more understanding and more accommodating. It's only a bakery item and not a prime rib dinner. Not only the crab croquette left a bad taste, the lack of service and courtesy also left a bad taste.

I thought, what about a sweet potato cake. Found two Korean bakers that had sweet potato cakes on the menu. It was kismet this bakery was just down the street from a restaurant we chose for his birthday dinner. I called and the owners took down my name and the fact I'll be there around 7 at night. Didn't even take down payment info or number. I got there a little after 7 & saw they had sweet potato cakes left. Reasonably priced too! $40 for larger and $30 for smaller. I thought $30 would work for just 4 of us but for $10 extra, my partner thought we should splurge. The owner remembered me from the phone call and addressed me by name. While his wife was ringing me up, her husband came up to me with a bag of bread to throw in. That was so sweet. With their service, variety and price point, we'll be back. The cake was delicious too. Not sure how cold their display is but the cream filling in the middle was just cold enough to taste like soft serve ice cream. Intentional or not, it was delicious!

We arrived around 2:15 pm and there was already a short line by the register. After briefly looking around, we ended up choosing: Peanut Bun, $2.05- I really liked this bun, it was filled with plenty of chopped peanuts. But I did not like finding baking paper that was forgotten to be pulled off on a few bites and having to spit out that paper. Sesame Bun, $2.05- Luckily the black sesame bun did not have any baking paper when I ate this bun a few days after purchasing. But I did like this bun, as there was plenty of black sesame paste that was the perfect sweetness (of not being too sweet). Matcha Almond Croissant, $3- My husband had this the next day and enjoyed it. --------------------------- (Total= $7.10) Service was friendly. The 2 employees who helped us spoke both English and Mandarin. The only reason why I bring this is up is because Sunmerry and 85C Bakery both charge $10 for a plastic bag so it was nice to see that this JJ bakery just gave us a bag for free (or that it is already built in the cost of their baked goods). Based on that conversation, we decided to bring only the fruit back to show them. When we arrived at the store, another staff member told us that since we did not bring the entire cake and that only the fruit was bad, she could exchange the fruit only, not the cake.
