    Garlic Soft Bread
    Airi G.

This place is one of my all-time favorite local bakeries and it's my first time buying bread from this location. I love the taro bread but I wanted to switch it up today so I tried the sesame bread and the garlic bread. I feel like the sesame flavor wasn't that strong and it was a little disappointing that the filling was not evenly distributed. The left side was all bread (which was so fluffy and delicious) and the right side was only sesame. The garlic bread was a lot better. I usually don't go for savory bread so the fact that I like this one says something. It wasn't heavy and overly greasy like most Asian bakeries but instead had a very garlicky center.

Matcha and Matcha Red Bean Bread! Taste delicious!

So happy that Duke Bakery is opened in Walnut on Grand and Amar which is across of Mt. Sac (Mt. San Antonio college). I just knew it until today! They didn't put their store name outside (only Bakery) so I didn't know until I went inside and saw their packaging bags. It used be a Korean owned bakery called Walnut Bakery. I always love Duke Bakery coz they have high quality bread even though the prices are slightly higher than others. I especially like their matcha red bean bread, the size is huge and it's filled with lots of red bean inside and taste delicious. And the other one I like is Chinese Wolfberry bread (Goji), tasty and healthy! I don't need to go to the one in Rowland Heights anymore. Btw, I can still use my Duke Bakery VIP card to get extra 10% discount. I hope they will have cakes option on the display though.

Only a couple loaves per flavor.

I've passed this location several times in the past, but it was always closed and out of business. I recently saw a neon "Open" sign so I decided to stop by. Imagine my surprise to discover that it's a Duke's Bakery location! Nothing indicated that it was Duke's except for a little logo sign on the bottom corner of their window. The sign above their shop is a generic "Bakery" sign in yellow. The paper sign on the door says they are closed on Sundays. I went in around 10:00 am and was hoping for a bunch of fresh bread smells wafting at me, but there was none. It actually looked quite sad upon entry. There were mostly empty shelves surrounding the shop, there were a few breads in the center, with only about 2 - 3 loafs per flavor. Not sure what they would do if they get more customers like me who buy a bunch of breads at once...do they close once they run out of inventory? The prices are higher than other Asian bakeries, but the size of the breads are really generous and I really love how creative they get with their flavors. I did pick up a few items, and it was hit or miss with the freshness. While most were soft and yummy, a couple were stale. I don't think they bake in house, since I went early in the morning and none of their items were warm or had condensation, and I don't know how long they keep their breads out, or maybe they drive it over from another Duke's location? I tried to ask the lady working there when the shop opened but she didn't speak English so we just kept our communication to smiles. Overall, this is an awesome bakery for yummy breads - every one I've tried is really good! Just cross your fingers that you get fresh ones.

Usually go to the one in rowland heights which is a bigger store. I'm happy that they have a chain in walnut , taste wise the bread is good but unfortunately it wasn't that fresh and kind of dry.. . You can tell it wasn't baked the day of . But overall place is clean & they have good variety of bread options.

I recommend it to anyone visiting the United States or California as a little adventure and a must-try destination for baked goods. I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food. Ever. I've purchased my daughters' birthday cakes here for years, as well as edible gifts for friends and family. Everything is beautifully made and always feels special. Their house iced milk coffee, however, isn't my favorite. I keep thinking it's going to grow on me, but it never quite does. Still, it's a good reminder that nothing is perfect. My favorite times to visit are in the morning and the evening. In the evening, the selection can be a bit sparse because the bakery is so popular with the community, but that's also part of the fun. You're encouraged to try things you might not normally choose because there are fewer options available. Evening visits are especially memorable because the bakery feels intimate and beautiful when it's lit up. My children call it "the magic garden." One thing I feel obligated to mention: if you're particularly sensitive to social dynamics (as I can be at times), you may notice that Black and Hispanic customers aren't always treated as warmly as others. In my experience, the difference is subtle and not overt, but it's something I've occasionally noticed after visiting for more than a decade. That said, I refuse to let prejudice stop me from enjoying something I love, and I don't think others should either. I was raised with manners and respect, and I make every effort to treat people the same regardless of race, religion, social standing, or background. Please don't let that observation discourage you from visiting this delicious hidden gem. It remains one of my favorite places, and I genuinely believe it's worth a 40-50 mile drive. If you enjoy thrifting, there's a great Goodwill next door and a plaza filled with specialty eateries nearby. Make a spontaneous day trip out of it with friends or family. If you have friends visiting from abroad, this is also a wonderful place to bring them so they can take home pictures, memories, and a story to tell. I honestly can't imagine most people being disappointed. And if you are, well... you might just be a sour grape.

There were only a handful of tables, and almost all of them were occupied when we arrived. Everything we tried was amazing. The hot dog roll was crispy, savory, and super satisfying. The ham and cheese pastry was also incredibly crispy with that buttery flaky texture. My favorite pastry was probably the strawberry lemon creme croissant: fruity, bright, and packed with flavor without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. For drinks, the Korean plum gochu lemonade was unexpectedly addictive. It was refreshing and citrusy with subtle hints of spice that made every sip interesting. Overall, a great spot to grab pastries and drinks while taking a break from shopping. Definitely coming back to try more items.

I thought, what about a sweet potato cake. Found two Korean bakers that had sweet potato cakes on the menu. It was kismet this bakery was just down the street from a restaurant we chose for his birthday dinner. I called and the owners took down my name and the fact I'll be there around 7 at night. Didn't even take down payment info or number. I got there a little after 7 & saw they had sweet potato cakes left. Reasonably priced too! $40 for larger and $30 for smaller. I thought $30 would work for just 4 of us but for $10 extra, my partner thought we should splurge. The owner remembered me from the phone call and addressed me by name. While his wife was ringing me up, her husband came up to me with a bag of bread to throw in. That was so sweet. With their service, variety and price point, we'll be back. The cake was delicious too. Not sure how cold their display is but the cream filling in the middle was just cold enough to taste like soft serve ice cream. Intentional or not, it was delicious!

A few weeks beforehand, I stopped by to ask about their sheet cake options because we were hoping to order the cappuccino flavor. At the time, I was told it was available, but when it came time to place the order, they said they no longer offered it, even though it was still listed on the ordering sheet. We ended up ordering the tiramisu cake instead, and it turned out to be a great choice. Although it wasn't the flavor we originally wanted, everyone really enjoyed it. They also did a beautiful job decorating the top with an assortment of fresh fruit, which made it look perfect for the celebration. Overall, I was really happy with how everything turned out. The staff was friendly throughout the ordering process, and the cake looked beautiful and tasted great.
