The food here is pretty unique. My husband and I tried a wide assortment of dishes ranging from dumplings - both steamed and fried, curry, and salad. Everything was flavorful and fresh, but some dishes were a bit over salted. This is the place to be if you want dumplings, as the name implies.

Somehow it seemed fitting that it was snowing during our visit to "Dump City Dumplings." While it may not have been snowing enough to say that it was "dumping" outside, it sure did add to the ambience of our meal. In my estimation, there are likely two schools of thought when it comes to dumplings. I think you've got the "I'm all about the dumplings!" person and the "Ok, I'll try dumplings once" person. If you are of the latter ilk and are still riding the fence on this one, please know that while dumplings are featured here, there are other options available (including Vegan choices). For example, I sampled the Roujiamo Pork Bowl and Cucumber Salad and they were both outstanding. Also know that introducing your little ones to the dumpling experience is easier than you think given the selections featured on their kid's menu. If you do choose to sample their dumplings (and you should!) you have to consider their dessert dumpling (filled with strawberry jam that you then dip in a lovely coconut sauce). While perhaps not for everyone (and I admit to being hesitant at first), it was by far my favorite of the dumplings that I sampled. By the power vested in me, I hereby proclaim 2023 "The Year of the Dumpling!" And that's...Henry's Take. #dumpcity #dumplinglove

Please don't get me wrong, I enjoyed everything about Dump City except the dumplings. I guess I was a dumpling novice and was not prepared for the experience but gave it my best shot. YELP Short Answer: YES it is awesome if you are familiar with and enjoy this type of dough-centric food. Location: Parking, well it totally sucks but welcome to the Galveston neighborhood and parking wars. Aside form that, their new fun location with lots to do all around is sure to be a hit for years to come. Sure trendy hot spot at the moment and busy so pick your times. Buildout: Nicely done very youthful music and a good vibe all around. Seating space indoors and out with takeout as a large part of their plan. Menu: Easy and fun, Host is happy to answer menu questions and very enthusiastic about their menu and company. Simple menu but ask, they say 3-5 dumplings will be a meal for one human, I'd say one and some sides. They have beers and ciders as well. Food Prep: Nicely done to eat there or take out. Dumplings are plopped on a dish naked but that is just fine, it's a dumpling shop so you get no frills. Food Quality: Seemed perfectly cook but missing in overall taste, texture, and enjoyment for me. Ordered Special Risotto, Pork and Pad Thai to try them all and it was hard to really get the flavor out of any of them as the ginormous amount of dumpling dough was overwhelming. I felt stuffed after just one but tasted them all. Also ordered cucumber salad and sticky rice both of which were excellent and I would suggest if you're not sure on the whole dumpling experience to just order sides and one dumpling to share. You can always order more if you find it to be your thing. They also have rice bowls which I may try at some point yet they seemed a little expensive so will read up on them. Waitstaff: Does not get much better, everyone was fun and happy to be there. It takes a while to get your food so have a beer and chill and don't be in a hurry. You can order, go buy some pot across the street, shop for furniture, buy a lottery ticket at 7/11 and your food should be about ready. These dumpling are made to order so it takes some time. Value: Yes for sure, fair pricing and if you know your dumplings I am sure it is a great value. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Excellent but I felt like I needed a stomach expander for the rest of the day, I wound not order a dumpling again but enjoyed myself.

After seeing this restaurant on Diners, Drive ins & Dives, I had it on my list to visit next time I was in Bend. My friends and I decided we would check it out for lunch and we were not disappointed. The three dumplings I ordered were flavorful and soft, my favorite was the Chinese pork. The sweet chili cilantro garlic sauce was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. We even loved the ooey gooey jem dessert dumpling! I loved the large selection of beer on draft and also thought it was cool that they have their dumplings on display in a fridge for easy take home.

These dumplings are the most delicious, satisfying dough balls full of goodness that I have ever had. They have 3 main flavors but the most popular are definitely the cheese & the pad Thai. The pad Thai is full of the rice noodles, veggies, soft tofu and a yummy peanut sauce. It is every vegan/vegetarian's dream! Dipped in the coconut lime sauce adds another element of flavor similar to squeezing lime on the traditional dish. They're hot, soft, gooey, affordable and a perfect little snack for any occasion! The staff is so chill and one guy hooked it up with a bonus dumping!!! The music is bumping and the vibes are all there. I've been visiting town this week and already had dumplings on 2 different occasions...munch n music and out downtown after partying. At one point I came back for another back to back because I just couldn't get enough. If you haven't had dump city dumplings, you haven't had dumplings!

Colorful, chill vibe. Love the outdoor seating. The dumplings were very tasty. The teriyaki bowl had fresh ingredients. Cucumber salad could have been fresher. Don't let that stop you from coming in and enjoying the various dumplings they have to offer. Don't forget to bus your tables before you go. The cashier was sweet and chill. Love the local vibe, seating and plant life at this establishment.

This place has a great vibe and yummy food! The dumplings were delish and fun to eat. My only complaint is that service was a bit slow and not the most attentive, however they were nice. I'll be back to try more dumplings!

Cultural appropriation at it's finest...meaning WORST. This stuff is awful. nothing worse than ripping off something from another culture and making terrible. These things are sloppily-made. Zero technique or appreciation of quality is evident. Zero depth of flavor. the exact opposite of a good bao (these are not called dumplings by the way...there's the first clue these things are bogus) Why dont' they ruin european food instead? sadly, bendites love this place because they have zero appreciation for good, authentic food. this town is still pretty hick. read more

Sooooo good! We have had their dumplings at What the Festival the last 2 years and knew we had to make a stop for a late night snack during our trip to Bend. For a small, late night stand they have options for everyone.....meat, vegetarian, and vegan! We don't eat meat, so we always get the 4 cheese (vegetarian) and Pad Thai (vegan). These cheese is gooey and delicious and the pad Thai is packed with noodles and veggies! They make four different homemade sauces that pair perfectly with their dumplings, the teriyaki is my favorite! Definitely try a dumpling for a cheap ($3) late night snack (they're open until 3AM guys!) read more

Ok as a full blown Asian I appreciate that the wrapper texture was on point thin bao situation, but an overgrown / oversized dumpling. HOWEVER, my main point of contention was the pork dumplings. They were a hot horrendous mess that somehow smelled like broccoli (though there was no broccoli to be seen). Why the hell are you putting carrots and red onions into the pork stuffing?! Did you get too much Imperfect Produce? That said, cheese dumplings are wonderful hot and with a great texture. Sort of like stuffed Brazilian cheese bread. Anyway, get your pork right. For clarification, these are the bao-style dumplings, not the dimsum/ potsticker kind. They were out of pork so we tried the lamb and ostrich. Lots of dipping sauces to choose from and the outside is nice and soft. read more

We were in Bend for a wedding and our hotel was three minutes from Dump City. We ate there EVERY DAY we were in Bend because they were so good. They put all other dumplings I've ever had to shame and have spoiled any dumplings I'd ever eat. They're pretty big and the fillings are delicious. The pizzas ones are cheezy as can be but our favorite ended up being the traditional dumplings. I miss them now that we're back home. read more

Ok for starters this place has hum bow not dumplings and at that they have 3 flavors to choose from and 'pizza' is one of the flavors. Um...no thanks. Ordered the pork, it was rather flavorless and the dough was even moreso. Also ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was pretty good but the cicmber salad was way over salted and too much garlic. Not authentic at all, and you order at the counter and bus your own tables. read more

I was eager to try but I'll never be back again. Customer service is 1(b) to the food which would be 1(a) in comparison. It's a shame when you have to argue the amount of change with the gentleman that is servicing you and especially when you're not arguing over anything that is over $5. It's not hard for me to know what bills I give you and/or know what bills I have in my wallet that aren't there anymore after this transaction. I walk away with no change, and a bitter taste in my mouth that the dumpling could not overcome. read more

These guys have a little dumpling cart in downtown Bend and their dim sum really hits the spot. We tried vegetable ones and some beef I think, it was back in July. They said they were going to make ones with fresh local ostrich. I can't wait to try them again next time I'm in Bend. Check em out! read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this cart. The first time I ever had it, I was drunk off my horse and it was incredible. The next time I was stone cold sober and it was kind of meh. The next time, sober and starving, pretty good. The time after, sober and starving after a long day of work in the cold, amazing. The price is right and the 4-cheese pizza is pretty good. read more

This review is for the brick and mortar location. The server gave an excellent description of the food, and gave me a great laugh. The place is a little hard to find, the atmosphere is excellent, and the food is reasonably priced. Came in at about 8pm on a Saturday night and it was about a 10-15 minute wait for food, with plenty of open tables. Definitely recommend if you are looking for some sweet dumps. I got the Pad Thai, Veg Special and the dessert dumplings and I had no complaints. read more

My kids Love these. Pretty much any event we go to they want a dumpling. I have tried a bit and it was pretty good but I haven't made a meal out of it. It would be better if they were bigger or a little cheaper so i could buy multiple dumplings if I was going to make a meal out of it. read more

The best food in Bend hands down. Dump City Dumplings are non-other than god like. If you should ever have to privilege of a possibility to see God, do not hesitate. Buy every kind of Dumpling, especially the Pas Thai. The life changing flavor is only matched by the incredibly friendly and professional service. I've been a customer since day one and I will eat Dump City Dumplings until the day I die. read more

Perfectly flash fried -- I've searched for years for sesame chicken as good as the old Chen's China Clipper in Beaverton. I have now found it! My wife's shrimp was also delicious. Portions are large (took half home). Check this place out! So worth the trip!

Wow! Honestly that's all I should write…read more We had the privilege of enjoying dinner here on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed for reasons that became quickly apparent. The wide assortment of northern Thai dishes featuring local proteins was absolutely incredible and vibrant flavors were wildly delectable in every bite. There is a great bartender with tremendous beverage offerings complemented by a beautiful space adorned by roses. This was indeed well worth our stop.

Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.

We had a unique and delicious Portuguese sausage biscuits‑and‑gravy dish with bacon on the side, and the other plate was an eggs benedict on an amazingly light, airy muffin with tomato, perfectly poached eggs, and a Portuguese sausage link, plus potatoes. Our plates were spotless by the end. The house iced tea was also a standout -- infused with fruit and specialty tea, but without actual fruit pieces in the cup. It tasted elevated and refreshing. I also ordered a cinnamon‑cardamom coffee, which was divine. Next time -- because there will be a next time -- we're thinking of sharing the special of the day and getting a spread of fresh pastries. Highly recommend.

Whoever the spectacle clad, beard toting dorks are who run the stand downtown on the weekends are absolutely pathetic. I waited all the way through the line for minutes and these chumps allowed two totally wasted girls to cut in front of everyone, while they looked me in the eyes aware of their mistake but also unwillingly to do the right thing and proceeded to help these two chicks. Rather bogus. They then proceeded to offer the girls free dumplings if they could do five cartwheels, which they did. Then they allowed another person to cut me right after. Perhaps I should've been more assertive, but I mean, c'mon. When it came time for my transaction they were both so awkward and unable to make eye contact with me, which furthers my belief of their knowledge of their own wrong doing. These two gentleman must not get a lot of female attention to let their integrity crumble over some drunk chicks. These are the perfect examples of fine employees for such a fine establishment. Dump City Dumplings is a gem right in the heart of downtown Bend, Oregon. The food is absolutely delicious, and surprisingly affordable -- which says a lot given how pricey Bend can be. My favorite is their $6 deal for three mini dumplings -- such a steal for the quality and flavor! To my surprise, they even have a full bar, which makes this spot even better. I received GREAT customer service from DCDs on Friday night. We arrived right before close and were met with courteously and enthusiasm as we ordered our delicious dumplings. Love this place, the dumplings are great and the people are too. Get all the sauces!
