Got lucky the past Saturday by accidentally discovering this business while I was in the neighborhood for a job assignment nearby. Recent obsession of mine might be dumplings so I wasted no time to check it out and oh boy, I am so glad I did. The time was around 1:50pm. A little past the peak lunch time and yet, the restaurant was drawing a steady footprint. I placed my order ahead of time as I knew I would wait for a bit. Once I was inside and told one of the workers that I was in for my online pick up order, he sent me to the front of the restaurant. Another worker greeted me and said it would be another 5 minutes or so. She kindly said to sit in one of the chairs and wait for a little bit. Pleasant and quick encounter with a few of the workers made me think that this restaurant appears to do a good job in treating all guests with respect and kindness. The restaurant is on the smaller side and yet the number of tables are ample. It should hold about a bit over 40 people when it's at its full capacity. Simple and clean dining room with orangey red incorporated into the booth seats and regular table seats. What I got from them were: -Chilled Tofu in Chili Oil -Vegetable Dumpling (10 pieces) -Side rice After my job assignment, I sure was hungry. The simple and yet tasty chilled tofu in chili oil on the hot steamy white rice were simply what I needed; it truly hit the spot and was comforting as well. The vegetable dumplings were probably THE best veggie dumplings I have never had. Lightly seasoned but not bland at all. The pockets of dough that hold the mixed veggies were beautifully bright green. The most beautiful-looking veggie dumplings I have ever seen as well. Congratulations to Dumpling Bay; they are opening a new location in Highlands Ranch. Per the poster that advertises that new opening, the Highlands Ranch location will be their flagship location. Currently planned for November 2026. This new location will be nearly 5,000 sq ft that will serve steamed buns, soup dumplings, hand-pulled noodles, knife-cut noodles as well as Chinese stir-fried dishes. Some hits and some misses for me here but I think that mostly comes down to personal preference, not the kitchen. For an appetizer we tried the wood ear mushroom salad which was coated in a lot of raw garlic giving it a flavor profile I associate with Italian food more than Chinese. The squeaky, cartilaginous texture was fun but I wouldn't order this dish again. For mains, my friends both ordered the specialty xiao long bao sampler situation. The consensus was that it was more of a novelty than anything as some of the flavors (i.e. cheese) were a bit weird. I took a safer route and got the pork and prawn xiao long bao which were quite flavorful, juicy, and delicate. The menu indicates that they're made with Kurobuta pork and I do feel like I could taste a difference. They mixed up the order and made pork and prawn dumplings first so we got to try those too. I think I liked them even better than the xiao long bao. We got the cartoon buns and the taro buns for a little something sweet. The cartoon buns were adorable and rather delicious. The custard inside had a coconutty taste that I really enjoyed. The taro buns were disappointing. Had a sort of grainy texture and tasted more of white bean paste than taro to us. Not our favorite. Currently a no-frills strip mall spot in Golden, Dumpling Bay will be opening a 5,000 sq ft flagship restaurant in Highlands Ranch later this year with an expanded menu which I bet will offer some pretty tasty stuff. WHAT A HIDDEN GEM!! If I can give 10 stars, I would!! The food was amazing!! Very authentic and fresh! You can see them rolling the dumplings in the back. All the vegetables were delicious and tasted different in their own unique way. The soup dumplings were perfectly made and the soup didn't fall out when lifting them out of the container. Dumpling Bay is the first restaurant I have given 5 stars in many months. I have been here several times and both of my visits have been asian food wonderland! I have tried many of their dumplings and have had their lunch specials which are great as you get a soup, an app and a main. Their egg drop soup is special so have that several times, the braised beef soup is also fantatic but I have to save some writing space for their chilled wood ear mushroom salad. Oh my it is crazy garlicky and has a nice bite and chew. Since their lunches are so generous I always take some home and have it for breakfast. That is truly the breakfast of champions. The last time I went I went a bit outside the lunch menu and tried the prawn and pork dumpling. Decided to try this place after a few of my Taiwanese friends recommended this place. Had high hopes as I am Taiwanese and have been looking for decent food in Colorado. Welcoming in the beginning. Seated promptly. Fairly busy, which I thought was a good sign. Nice environment and fairly clean. Ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and the Specialty XLB (forgot to take a picture because I was so upset). After about 15-20 minutes, no update in our food. However, a couple seated next to us who came later and ordered later got their food first, and not only got their food first, it was the same XLB I ordered. I was furious, and still am writing this review. And no one noticed until I had to ask the waiters where's my food. And there was no apology at all! Eventually the food came. First impressions: beef noodle soup looks authentic and tasty. It was in a big bowl but no big spoon with it. Also The specialty XLB unfortunately, multiple of them had broken and the soup leaked. There was no dipping plate, no ginger with the XLB. There was no clarification about which color is which flavor. The ordering system is also poorly organized. I noticed the waiter/waitress looked at the printed receipt multiple times at multiple tables. Maybe that's why our food was late, or maybe that's how the other couple got the XLB I also ordered. I believe they need to get a better ordering system, otherwise, they will get more unhappy customers like me. Overall, a promising restaurant but didn't meet my expectation. Sadly disappointed. Located in a shopping mall, there is plenty of parking spaces. We went here on a Saturday afternoon after hoping of passing the lunch rush, but it was still pretty busy. That shows it's popularity given different hours. We were promptly greeted upon entering and they take down your name and number so that you're in the queue for seating. We ordered a few different dishes to try as it's not often we are in Golden. Dishes included the chicken and broccoli, salt and pepper chicken, XLB, and spicy dumplings. Each were good to try, but I would skip them all next time and just focus on their XLB. Perfect thickness of the wrapper, juicy soup, and meat that was tender and tasty. A friend had heard how good this place was from family who had lunched as near their place of work. She offered me the adventure of lunch out of town (as I can no longer drive) and we both love Chinese food. We arrived for a late lunch as she had an earlier commitment that mornin and the restaurant is about 45 minutes south of my house. It's located in a strip mall attached to a large supermarket. There was plenty of free parking. It's very new, open only a few months and clearly a new, bright and sleek interior. The kitchen is visually open but behind glass walls so no smoke or tree cooking smells mars the dining area. It's a vast menu, probably a good idea to read through it online to see the scope as well as details. I missed a few ingredient details which would have allowed me to customize my wood ear mushroom salad with less garlic. My lunch friend tried it and was not concerned because she is much better with chopped raw garlic. That being said there was still much to like, a very ample serving, beautiful mushrooms, nice crispy chewy texture. Since I wanted to sample so many items, I saved the bulk of the dish to bring home to share and then removed most of the garlic. I liked it even better that way. I also ordered braised beef noodle soup. The serving was immense so I had lots of leftover to share. It's the best version I have had in years, the brisket tender in substantial chunks, beautiful and ample baby bok choy, nice tender noodles, and flavorful broth. Enough to bring home a full takeout container. I also got a sampling of dim sum items and all were better than mostly all available to me in Boulder. The BBQ pork bun was traditional , softly steamed and fluffy, as was the red bean paste bun. The shrimp shumai were also steamed hot and tender. Even eating far. Less than half of what I ordered, I left stuffed. The staff were attentive friendly and helpful in preparing my planned leftovers to take back to Boulder. I do wish I lived a lot closer. read more

We found this place while I was pregnant, which was a blessing and a curse because I have been back every Friday since. The food is simple and delicious. They run with a light staff, but the service is friendly and welcoming. As mentioned, we bring our baby in his car seat and they always accommodate us. We have our go to's (xiao long bao and green beans with pork) but try to have something new each time. We just tried the stir fried noodles with chicken and were pleasantly surprised to learn the noodles are made in house. We have never had a bad meal here. I wasn't a huge fan of either of our apps - the mushroom salad was very unique, I just couldn't get past the texture of the shrooms! Wood ear mushroom salad was great. This was my first time having wood ears, and I was pleasantly surprised - they've got a freshness to them. Chicken fried dumplings were outstanding. The dumplings themselves are pretty standard, but the tables have some soy sauce and vinegar, so I mixed those up and it made a delicious sauce. I guess my only complaint is that I wish there was an 8pc option, because the 6pc went pretty quickly, but I don't want to pay for a 12pc either. Middle of a strip mall, a couple doors down from the King Soopers Supermarket. Not very big, had maybe a dozen or so booths and tables. It's bright and clean, service is friendly enough. The Original Xiao Long Bao and the Shrimp Shumai are the best, so juicy and tasty. The Pork & Cabbage Dumpling was not bad either. Seems like their dumplings are all good. Definitely get those here. However, the Cucumber Salad was and Stir-Fried Green Beans are just okay. I wouldn't get those here. Other Chinese restaurants make it way better. My next and longer review for Dumpling Bay in Golden. ~~~~~~~ As I looked at the "Legend of Chinese Cuisine"underneath the sign of the restaurant, I was wondering what it meant. (More on this later.) The people I am meeting today are there, talking and looking over the paper menu placed on our table. The group decided to get the specialty xiao long bao--8 regional flavors: 8 different colors, 8 different fillings. As I ponder what else to get, the conversation shifted to the folks behind the counter: rolling out fresh dough, adding the meat mixture, and making them into dumplings. What a wonderful sight! We knew we are in for some freshly made dumplings, which made us very happy. Our specialty xiao long bao arrived. These colorful dumplings looked beautiful. Luckily for us, our colorful menu displayed the 8 options, so we knew exactly what we are to eat. Because we were sharing, I tried the spinach, crab meat, and mushroom. All 3 were delicious. I would like to try the rest of these soup dumplings. Next came our buns. I ordered the taro buns, while my fellow diner ordered the red beans and cartoon buns. Each order came with two buns. The buns were fluffy, chewy, and filled with some sweetness inside. I wasn't expecting mine to taste sweet, so I wasn't ready to eat the other one. Next were the cheese wontons and soups: egg drop and hot & sour. I did have a spoonful of the hot & sour soup, but without the crunchy noodles, I thought it was just so-so. However, the person who ordered it said it was good. Next, we were treated with 2 bowls of noodle with scallion oil. Wow! My mouth was exploded with the flavorful liquid from the scallion oil top with bokchoy, dry onion, and homemade noodle. This was one of my favorite dishes from Dumpling Bay. Other dishes we tried were (1) pork & cabbage dumplings, (2) original xiao long bao, (3) pork & cabbage dumpling in chili oil, (4) pork belly buns, (5) mapo tofu w/pork, and (6) stir-fried green beans & ground pork w/garlic. I was way too full and couldn't fully enjoyed #5 and #6, so it wouldn't be fair for me to write my review on these items. Everything else was so good! Out of the items listed, my favorite was the pork belly buns. Another explosion in my mouth! The smooth and softness of the bun, wrapped around the pork belly, the shredded lettuce, and the sauce. The meat and the sauce were the stars for this dish. What an amazing dish. A dish that gave me joy eating it. So good! Because there are not a lot of options on their menu for their drink choices, I skipped this. However, after contacting the restaurant on drink options, I was told they will add more on their menu. Dumpling Bay just opened the middle of May and already has positive reviews, and one of them is mine. I hope you stop by this newly opened restaurant and give them a try. You will enjoy their freshly made dumplings and soup dumplings. If dumplings are not your to-go cuisine, try other dishes from the menu. I believe after giving them a try, you will be a regular, visiting this restaurant again and again. Here's what printed on their menu about the Legend of Chinese Cuisine. Honestly, really couldn't tell the difference in flavors of all the different XLB's. Chicken fried rice was a little too sweet.
