Dumplings were perfection ! The salt & pepper wings were recommended by the nicest lady behind the counter (I did not get a name) but they had plenty of flavor. & the veggie chow mein was also very good.

3.5/5 Small hole in the wall shop with some street parking in front of the store. My favorite was the shrimp torn noodle which had a good amount of shrimp and chewy noodles with a great sauce on it. The pork and cabbage noodles were also very good with texture and filling. The sheng jian bao was just okay (only four small buns with small filling.) The liang pi tasted kind of soggy and had a slight bitter taste and too much garlic so I would skip it.

Had high expectations due to high ratings but it was just okay. We came by for dinner and we were seated right away. It's so cold inside the restaurant btw. Service: 3/5 Only 3 tables inside but the waitress didn't really check in so my fiancé had to physically go up to her to ask for our check and then to pay. Food: 3/5 Wonton noodle soup - Not much flavor and the broth looked as clear as day which was our first time lol. Pretty sure they use handmade noodles here, which were also just okay. Shrimp torn noodle - Much more flavorful, tasted more like soy sauce? Not much noodles or shrimps and more veggies. Seafood dumplings with cuttlefish ink - This was just sad. No seafood but just 1-2 tiny pieces of shrimps with mostly green onions and chives.

Ordered off DoorDash because I was craving some good comfort Chinese food. Got some black squid dumplings, beef pancakes, and chicken chow mein. It was all very tasty and satisfying!

Hole in the wall but a hidden gem It's loud as they turn dough into noodles. They don't buy store bought noodles, these are made fresh The location mainly caters to take out, the interior is industrial sparse. It's loud. The folks who work there speak Chinese loudly on their speaker phones But it's so awesome and the food is great

Vegetable Knife Cut Noodle-too many bean sprouts, noodles weren't great when not really warm

I'd probably give 3.5 stars but will round up. The dumplings here are good, and there are some seafood and vegetarian options which is always nice. Scallion pancakes were crispy and oily and delicious. Green beans a bit overseasoned but cooked well. The knife cut noodles were ok, a little too oily and if not eaten hot straight from the kitchen they were t super good, and also there were not a lot of noodles in the vegetarian noodles, it was a lot of bean sprouts. This mostly looks like a to go place, server was friendly and attentive but the ambiance of the place is pretty stark, no music, lots of tables inside though. Steamed custard buns weren't super soft. So I'd recommend the dumplings here, and if you dine in it was fine for us because it was nice and quiet and we got to chat with our friends without feeling rushed, pretty much empty except for us on a Thursday night. Street parking was available nearby and not too hard to find just off El Camino.

This place is authentic and no frills. Stopped in here for lunch while waiting for some friends to arrive at SFO airport. When we walked in there was an older gentleman sitting at a table, hand making dumplings presumably for the evening dinner crowd. I enjoyed the pork dumplings with dill. The dill was not what I typically would have gravitated towards, but our server recommended it and I'm glad I took her advice. It was not an overpowering flavor and really complimented the pork. Pot stickers were hot, fresh and tasty as they should be.

This was our third visit in three years. The restaurant is small and we walked in just after noon. There were maybe four tables in use and one waiting to be cleared. We were greeted and pointed to a four-top. Menus and set-ups were already on the table. A pot of tea was brought out and the server went back to answering phones and wrapping dumplings. It took a minute to catch her eye when we were ready. We ordered three items and I let her 'talk' me into a fourth. Mom doesn't eat nearly as much when out but she'll tear it up at home. We ordered: Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Wings - 5 - Excellent again! Yes, a bit pricey but we'll worth it! Shrimp with Knife-Cut Noodles - 5 - I could smell the wok hay as she brought the dish to the table. The Shrimp were beautifully cooked as were the noodles. Soft and thin, similar to Egg Noodles. Delicious! Steamed BBQ Pork Buns - no score - We were between doctors appointments and our hour for lunch was coming to an end. We had only received 2 out of 4 dishes. I asked the server how much longer. Like a deer in headlights, she took a guess and went the wrong way. Instead of going to the kitchen and asking, she guesses 15 minutes? I asked if I could cancel it and she said no. I told her that we still had to leave so just box it up for us. She came back to the table with boxes for the food we already had and told us just another 2 or 3 minutes. When the check came, we were only charged for three items. The item that I had let her "talk me into" didn't show up. In case you're wondering, it was Xiao Long Bao. The food is generally very good. The service is questionable. I would recommend this restaurant for their food but not if you have time restrictions.

*They offer their handmade frozen dumplings to-go so you can cook it yourself at home whenever you'd like! Absolutely love it! *Catering options are also offered, both through UberEats and in-store Crispy tofu: crispy and not dry, but could be more moist; nicely flavored and not too spicy at all Hot & sour soup: super delicious (my absolute favorite hot & sour soup in the bay), medium spice, good amount of ingredients loaded into it so it's somewhat filling Szchuan spicy wontons: flavorful, tasty, thinly wrapped Garlic cucumber: Enjoyable, taste as expected Steamed bbq pork bun: Same as above Walnut shrimp w/honey & wasabi sauce: fresh, saucy, but I didn't love the wasabi sauce with it Sesame chicken: ordered a few times! Yum! Pork & cabbage dumplings: medium wrapped, consistent, and juicy

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for the rec, this little place is spot on! Delicious, fresh, authentic, I definitely recommend a stop in if you are craving dim sum or noodles. We have a stop over in San Francisco before heading on to our final travel destination and did a quick search for dim sum as we were leaving the airport. And after scrolling through about 20 reviews, we decided on this place. I love a good "hole in the wall", divey (if that's a word) and scratch made eatery. Ambiance is not a strong point if you are looking for mid to upper scale setting. But, if you can put appearances aside and listen to your stomach, then consider yourself home! This is a smallish shop, clean and with hot tea service (no alcohol). The service is fast, friendly and with a smile. There is a lady in the back, CRANKING out handmade wontons (be still my heart!) The portions are huge and family style! My daughter and I ordered enough for a six person family and judging from the look of surprise on the chef's face, we did a good job of polishing off most of it! ‍ One thing we tried that i had never heard of is the beef roll. It's really good and way bigger than i had thought. Kind of like a calzone. Highly recommend the spicy wonton and the knife cut noodles with shrimp. These knife cut noodles had such a luscious, silky mouth feel, i could have slurped them all day! We also enjoyed the fried spring rolls and shao mai. Price point is very reasonable. We had six different dishes for $64, which includes tax. Just about $10 per dish with huge servings. We have plenty of leftovers in our hotel fridge for later Anyway, jump out of your comfort zone and dive in to flavor town at Dumpling Era, you won't be disappointed!

What is their orange habanero-tasting extremely spicy hot sauce? The food is great, but I also want to just order some of that amazing hot sauce!

Just ask for it. They will sell you a small bottle or even give away if you ask nicely.

    Is MSG used here?

Loll not sure why the other person said no. They definitely do and it's fine.

What gluten free options are there?

I'm sorry but I don't know the answer.

Is it possible to order the soup dumplings Togo? Or can it only be eaten at the restaurant?

It can be ordered Togo as well

I got added the spicy option and it definitely was spicy which I enjoyed. Only small complaint was that it seemed like the others in my party got more noodles to their ramen dishes, but that was something we joked about and didn't ruin my dinner. Would definitely go back here to try out different food options, unless I'm in the mood again for that great ramen.

I met up with a friend for dinner and it was pretty quiet on a Monday early evening. It seemed like they had more takeaway orders and only 1 staff member working front of house. I ordered the mushroom tofu soup with perilla powder for an extra $3. I also asked for the soup to be spicy since you can select the spice level. Unfortunately, the perilla powder didn't really do much and the broth was not spicy whatsoever. It was actually quite bland and I ended up packing it home to fix myself (bring on the gochugaru!). When I usually order this dish, it automatically comes with an egg. Oddly enough, mine didn't come with one, so I had to flag down the server and request an egg. My friend graciously treated me so I'm not sure if the egg was an additional cost or not. I would hope it is already included in the price though! Crazy how soondubu costs a whooping $20 now. The banchan was actually decent. Unlike other Korean restaurants where each one is served in a different tiny dish, Mom's Tofu just puts them all on a tray with divided sections. We got 5 different banchans to try, and they were decent portions. I do like how you get a small cup of rice punch at the end of the meal with the bill though! However, for the quality, I think it's best to go to travel to the South Bay for my Korean fix.

Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!

Upon getting seated, she asked if we wanted a plastic water cup, regular bowl, and plastic utensils for my toddler. I highly prefer being environmentally friendly, so I only opted for the reusable bowl. I truly appreciate her asking me before automatically bringing everything. I ordered the Pho Tai Gau (rare steak and brisket) with thin pho noodles, split bowl with extra noodles to share with my toddler. The meat is super thin and tender! Although we ordered "extra" noodles, it didn't feel like extra compared to a normal bowl, but my toddler wanted more soup than noodles so it worked out. We also got the imperial rolls appetizer. It was tasty but I felt like it was a bit overdone, because it hurt the roof of my mouth haha, but I do prefer it to be crispy than soggy so I'm not complaining! Just be aware :) Nowadays, my best eating out meals are those in which my toddler enjoyed and allowed her to be on her best behavior. So when I heard they opened a new location in South San Francisco after a full remodel, I had to check it out. I didn't get to sit down this time, but from what I could see, the space is big, bright, and welcoming. I'm already planning a proper dine-in visit. I ordered the Bún Thịt Nướng Chả Giò, vermicelli with grilled pork and egg roll/imperial roll, no peanuts. At $19.55 it's a fair price for the portion you get. So I have a ritual with this dish: I always eat the imperial roll first, giving it sole access to the nước chấm (dressing) before everything gets mixed together. The chả giò (imperial roll) had a good crunch, though the wrapper leans more lumpia-style than the bumpy, textured rice paper you'd expect. Not a complaint, just a different take. The thịt nướng (grilled pork) was well cooked and tender, though it didn't carry much of that smoky char you'd hope for. The vermicelli was a little dense and clumped, likely from sitting in the container during pickup. The greens were simple, iceberg and shredded carrot, no fresh herbs or bean sprouts. The nước chấm (dressing) skewed sweet and mild, lighter on the fish sauce depth than I prefer, but the portion was generous enough to coat everything once mixed together. None of this is a dealbreaker. This is a crowd-pleasing, approachable version of the dish, clearly calibrated for a broad audience. Kevin's remains a reliable, consistent option worth keeping in rotation.

With a recent boom in HK street food especially cha chaan teng (tea and meal eateries), I suggested meeting several friends for an early dinner here. This place has been here a while, before the ongoing trend emerged. I arranged a meetup with a peninsula friend to meet there for an early midweek dinner before 6 pm. They have a private parking lot so that was not an issue. Walking in, we noticed the order station and menu on the left (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=VXnwmT7l57Wujd4yMeyvlQ) and a cooking area to the right (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=h5fu-B6JPAxM-VFU_pDTYw). As we studied the menu, the discussion among us three was that we wanted to eat multiple menu items. After a few minutes, we ordered our meals one by one, adding two appetizers to share. After my friend first paid for our meal, he chose a table in the middle dining area. I noticed a water station near the cashier and brought three plastic cups for my friends and me. With this being a somewhat cafeteria style format, a gal brought our food a short time later. Here's what I tried: Appetizers, shared 1. Popcorn chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=W18wgtSMHw0g-EqytrQpDA) - Very solid version as this came temperature hot. It was spot on crispy and the white pepper seasoning very true to the recipe. Nice that they provided skewer sticks and we ate barely half if this with the generous portion. 2. XO sauce mini rice noodles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=uLIWGlflOZKINVlxMoS7PA) - For a mini, I was surprised with the food amount. Unlike dim sum house versions, the ingredients are not stir-fried and merely mixed with the sauce mostly on top with a soy sauce oil mix lining the bottom. It was tasty and a good-sized serving. Main 3. Beef stew wonton noodle soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=F8_RGDn1cEfD1emWUdaWvA) - I forget whether there were four or five relatively large wonton dumplings with the thinner chewy egg noodles here. The beef stew pieces were tender and seasoned well making for a tasty bowl. The bowl size that I thought was smaller actually held a good amount of food where I just had enough stomach space to finish it. There were plenty of white turnip pieces (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=-HvCGJqyvrNOKF7cgacOog). This is a hearty meal. When we arrived, there were only two tables of diners (couples) as we found our table. By the time we left, there were families and couples there and the dining room was about half full. There was a steady flow of takeout orders being picked up too. A family of three sat at a mah jong table (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=xGkgRuG-bFIBlDaHkUyszA) but merely to play with the tiles. With the recent gained popularity in mah jong events and the like, the theme here was ahead of its time. I will probably return with friends to try other menu items and perhaps save room for a drink or dessert too.

It's cute enough and looks like it could be lovely at night with nostalgic HK hits and mahjong…read moretables + beers. Food was decent. We got what was pictured. Mine was the sampan jook (porridge) which was $18. Consistency was right but it didn't have any seafood so wasn't a true sampan porridge at all. Sampan is literally the flat wooden boat that fisherman would take out in the HK pier, and the jook would be made with whatever they catch, typically shrimp, squid and so forth. Here, there were pieces of char siu and some pig skin. Tasty but not sampan and not worth the marked up price. My husband said his char siu was good, but roast pork not edible. Boba was not bad at all.
