Luckily, there English was decent enough that were both understood each other. Steamed buns here are pretty good. Great dough that has a pronounced yeast taste and smell as they probably make their own. Fish dumplings are something I rarely see but they are pretty good here. Not amazing like when taught truffle or pork fat are used but still tasty none the less. Custard buns sucked. They didn't have much filling and fell flat in flavor. Favorite dishes in order: Beef pancake, pork and cabbage fried dumpling, beef and onion bun, and then the soup dumpling. All the fried dishes had an amazing crust to it. All the food items were moist and juicy on the inside--which we all appreciated. All were nicely seasoned. We needed a spicy kick to it so we drizzled each bite with the chili oil that they had on the table. I can't believe I have not written a review for Dumpling House! Been eating here for years and they consistently have amazing dumplings, Chinese dishes, and appetizers. If you're going to eat here, you must get some dumplings! They have soup dumplings here and I have to say when the steaming basket comes out, it's only a matter of a few minutes before they are all gone! We always get green onion pancake - the kids' favorite and boy are they crunchy and always come out piping hot! We've ordered other dishes like beef flat noodle, beef and broccoli, bok choy with mushroom, eggplant garlic sauce, string bean with pork, just to name a few. We tried their House Specialty Buns, seaweed & egg soup, pork dumplings, and soup dumplings. Prices for each were very reasonable as were the portion sizes. Tucked away in the back corner of this shopping center is a Chinese restaurant that blew away my expectations. I went there on a Thursday night and expected it to be a ghost town, but it was surprisingly filled. Not packed to where it would be unpleasant, but enough people to let me know something was up. And surely enough, after trying the food, I understood why so many people were there. I started with the egg drop soup, which had a nice deep umami flavor to set the tone. Next I tried my standard meal to test a Chinese restaurant: orange chicken with fried rice. The rice was cooked well with nice garnish of egg and garlic, but the real start was the orange chicken. Every bite was succulent, and I could tell they put time into refining the recipe. The flavor profile was a lovely balance of the sweetness from the orange itself (the dish was garnished with real orange peels) and the heat from the chilis. It was the perfect amount of heat for me -- enough to add to the flavor profile but not so much it became overpowering. I finished my meal with what has got to be this place's piece de resistance: chocolate soup dumplings. The chocolate soup dumplings are to die for. They are worth a two hour drive to get to this place. Given this place literally has dumpling in their name I had high hopes, and they exceeded them. The chocolate soup dumplings look like any other soup dumpling, but when you bite into them you are greeted with a rush of molten chocolate that is rich and creamy. These things are crack, I recommend getting one order per person! Overall this restaurant blew my expectations away. The staff was also very friendly, the atmosphere was nice, but the food was the star. I plan on making this place one of my regular go-to's. read more

The dumplings are delicious! We also ordered the beef pancakes and some combination fried rice and everything was great! Be careful as you eat the beef pancake though as it has the tendency to shoot juices when taking the first bite. Our server warned us of this and I still managed to get it on me somehow. Lesson learned. As for our service, we had the sweetest lady serving us. The GOOD is the lunch prices are awesome. I can say they are reasonably priced. You get a lot of food for your money. Most meals come with soup, rice, egg rolls and your entree. My entree was Mongolian Beef. I loved how many onions were in the dish that's where the good ends on the food. The staff seemed friendly so that was a plus. The BAD even though you get a lot of food. It didn't taste great. It was just ok, but the food is definitely lacking flavor. You can get better Chinese food elsewhere. My friend ordered sesame chicken and it was blah. The soup was mediocre and so was the fried rice. So...it was just BAD. The UGLY is the place is slightly worn down. The booths are raggedy. They are ripped and in need of some repair. Met a friend here for dinner as we'd never tried authentic dumplings before. We were very excited and hungry. The place was mildly busy and we were seated relatively quickly. Sadly, the service after this did not match the quality of the food and we've decided it was bad enough that we won't be coming back. We either felt neglected and as though we had to constantly flag someone down for service OR we felt rushed and hurried out the door. It took well over 20 min to get a simple glass of water in the middle of our meal. The waitress seemed perturbed every time we flagged her down and she wasn't friendly and warm as you'd expect/want a server to be. This was very off-putting for our first time. Near the end of the meal, we ordered additional food to-go. The check was dropped and my friend immediately paid with a credit card. We sat there a little longer to finish our drinks and to continue to talk. The female server seemed to rush us out the door and it was nowhere near closing time! We had not finished signing the credit card receipt or leaving a tip but the woman hastily cleared our table along with the payment. A few minutes later we were questioned by a gentleman as to why we didn't leave a tip!! Excuse me?!?! Who does that?!?! Had the server not whisked away the payment and exercised a little more patience, a tip would have eventually appeared when we were done. I wish the service had been better because the food was good. And with the amount of food industry competition this area and surrounding areas have... poor service will quickly drive patrons to other places. Unprofessional. Poor communication among the staff. And the employees could use some training in what excellent customer service should look like. I love dumplings. Ever culture had its own version. I seem to love them all. It's comfort food for me to find a Chinese place that has yummy meat-filled buns and dumplings. The cool aspect of Yelp in the States is being able to order from restaurants within the app thanks to Grubhub. To me, it's a luxury to do delivery to my hotel room while on vacation. I am typically the type who either goes out to a restaurant to eat or orders takeout to bring back to my room. My boyfriend had a couple of dinner nights out with his training colleagues. He let me know that he was going out for dinner again. After spending a decent day at the George W. Bush Presidential Library and exercising my credit card at a number of stores, I decided to order in. Dumpling House caught my eye. I ordered the Goubouli buns, and pork and Chinese chives dumplings. You have the option of getting them steamed or pan-fried. I got the former pan-fried and the latter steamed for variety. The app lets you know how long it will take for your order. The delivery woman came twenty minutes earlier than the expected time. I was incredibly impressed. She hoped that I would love the food, which was cool. I got two boxes of goodness. I opened up the Goubouli buns. They smelled so good. The pan-fried sear at the bottom of them looked good. I bit into one. There was so much pork and green onion filling packed into it. The dough was absolutely heavenly and delightful. So much flavour! They were authentic and downright yummy. I then had the pork and Chinese chives dumplings. One word: excellent. Again, you got tons of flavour. The wrapper was perfect. Paired with the delicious dipping sauce and you have a winner. I had three Goubouli buns left. I had them for breakfast the following morning. It's nice to have a kitchenette in your hotel room. The flavour of these buns was even better! I am so glad that I ordered from Dumpling House. BUT I wanted a pork bun after watching a show and got the taste in my mouth to try it. Came and ordered the pork buns and they were delicious. We also ordered the dumplings, cause why not let's try both. They were so juicy very good. Also tried the green onion pancakes. They were a bit dull and not very favorable either.
