My wife and I stopped by for the first time for a late lunch on a Saturday. A group of 4 was just leaving as we took our seats in the otherwise empty restaurant. A pitcher of water with lemon was brought to the table and our order was promptly taken. Everything seems to be prepared to order, so the dishes come out as they are ready. The wonton in chili oil was first. The tender and flavorful wontons were covered in a delicious chili oil sauce. Next, the assorted dumplings were fresh and flavorful, and the Xiao Long Bao were excellent, some of the best we've ever tasted. The broth was luscious and plentiful, and we would definitely order them again. The same goes for the beef roll, which is listed as an appetizer but came out last. We really enjoyed it, but we were too full to finish; however, I'm sure it will re-heat just fine at home! The only dish we would hesitate to order again is the salt and pepper chicken wing. The batter was flavorful and crunchy but too thick for our taste. Perhaps we will try the salt & pepper shrimp next time, and there will be a "next time"! One caveat, it seems the staff have their own lunch, as a group, around 2PM, so service can be spotty during this time. Just adjust the time of your visit if that would be an issue for you. read more

Ordered the vegetable egg rolls (just ok) ... ordered general TSP S chicken spicy (not that spicy.....personal preference) that was most disappointing because it was bland w/o rice (made my own)...... I ordered pork chive & shrimp dumplings was black wraps not same in picture. Not happy at all. Yum yum yum! We had the beef and broccoli, soup dumplings, and rainbow dumplings. Everything was delicious! The rainbow dumplings are a great way to try out a variety of the dumplings available. Our favorite was the beef. The staff is super friendly and the service is attentive and quick. As you enjoy your food you can watch the dumplings being handmade through the large window in the back. Oh, this is good! We went for a dumpling brunch and were delighted! First, service is outstanding. Two young men who never stop moving - even cleaning up in between table service. Second, there are people making dumplings by hand, behind the window. Doesn't get any more homemade than that! Third, the dumplings are delicious! We tried... a lot! Standouts were the best chili wontons: a Szechuan style chili, very flavorful, not too spicy; soup dumplings, rainbow dumplings - especially the green ones! And the rich, creamy, indulgent custard lava buns. Also, they make a housemade pickled chili paste that's better than the green-lid favorite from Irwindale...! my sister & i had previously been to the dumplings n more location in hillcrest, so we decided to try their new one. food-wise, everything was mostly decent. we ordered XLB, wontons in chili oil, and dan dan noodle. the XLB could have been a little more flavorful but the chili oil helped with that quite a lot. the dan dan noodle was pretty tasty. you could really taste the freshness of the noodle and it was very well textured (bouncy!). big fan. my only qualm was that it was a somewhat small portion size. the wontons in chili oil were not very good. the wonton wrapper wouldn't hold when you'd try picking one up and would have the meat spill out. they were too soggy/cooked too long and they were very bland. chili oil helps somewhat but there's only so much spice can do for flavoring. the waitstaff were very attentive throughout our meal, nice & answered our questions when ordering. ambiance was good too. very clean. this place is definitely worth giving a visit but i prefer their hillcrest location. read more

First thing we noticed were the workers making fresh noodles behind a glass wall, which was really cool. It was giving [another popular dumpling restaurant] but more intimate. Our kids really enjoyed watching them make noodles and we were able to sit right next to the window wall. We ordered dishes that we normally would order from other restaurants and we were surprised at how well everything tasted. My first thought was "flavor!". We normally will drive south (Convoy) to get flavor like this so it's great to know there's a place like this so close to us. My husband said it best. We'll definitely be back! read more

Unusually good Chinese/Taiwanese food --unusual for North County San Diego which does not have many really excellent dim sum type restaurants. We had the soup dumplings--excellent flavor and great wrapping--not too doughy. The meat was a bit rich/fatty for me though. The scallion pancakes were also great as were the Pan-Fried Puff Buns which were fluffy and delicious, stuffed with pork and green onion. But the best thing we ordered was the stir fried bok choy with mushrooms in a garlic sauce. Service was a bit slow but to be fair, it was quite busy. The drinks are kind of pricey. Overall though we thought this was the best Chinese food we've had outside of the Convoy here in SD. read more

When I ate the dumplings they had a bad aftertaste which this type of dumpling shouldn't have. I currently now have food poisoning and suspect the beef from the dumpling may be the cause. We have gone to both the Escondido and Hillcrest locations of Dumplings N More. We love their food. This evening, we drove from Rancho Santa Fe to their Escondido location and walked into the restaurant at 8:30 pm. We checked their website and it said they were open until 9 pm. When we walked in, a woman greeted us and said that we could only order take out since they were closing at 9 pm. I said we could eat quickly but take out doesn't work because our home is over 30 minutes away. She wouldn't budge, even though they don't close until 9 pm! I asked her several times if we could just order and eat quickly but she refused. If you are open until 9 pm, you should accept customers until 9 pm. You have lost our family's business and I don't think anyone should go here - they don't deserve our business. Stay away!!! read more

Ding tai fung alternative if desiring dumplings in a pinch? Nope. Not a good alternative. First, the service was excellent and friendly, and we did order take out. Chicken fried rice was ok. The wonton in chicken broth was bad. The wontons were very mushy. seemed like frozen then heated up and put into container. The long xio bao was barely edible. Not sure what they do to their meat, but the texture is all wrong. These were for sure frozen, then warmed to served. Wonton in chili sauce. Again, the wontons were put into a container and when I got them they had melded together into a blob of mush. The crystal shrimp dumplings were kinda of okay, but lacked flavor and the wrap used was very chewy as if it was old and not fresh. The salt and pepper pork ribs were on the dry side and there was certainly more spice added besides salt and pepper. If that's the case, point it out in the menu. The taste was odd and not pleasant to eat. All in all two of the items we ordered, bok choy and chicken fried rice were edible. Everything needs some serious attention to quality and execution in preparation and cook. wish I would have remembered to take some pics of the dishes. Oh well. The cost for meal this was very high, and for the quality definitely not worth it. I will stick to Ding tai fung and avoid this knock off at all cost. read more

What happened? About a month ago, the first visit to this location, I thought "oh boy", a new really good Chinese food restaurant in Escondido. The second visit my wife and I were really disappointed. The green bean chicken was exceeding salty and sesame shrimp were tough to chew. Inconsistency in what to expect doesn't inspire confidence when eating out. Oh yeah, since when does the entree not include steamed rice. This the the first Chinese restaurant I've ever eaten at where steamed rice has to purchased ($1.99) separately. Quite a mark up on it too. My wife and I had lunch there today. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly and we got great service. I saw someone post about food allergies. There is a posting regarding that. I had the triple delight stir fried noodles. It was very good. If I was to order it again I would ask for it to be spicy. My wife is a vegetarian and had the vegetable stir fried noodles. Unfortunately the menu doesn't say that the noodles have a chicken sauce on them so they didn't sit well with her. The servers were super nice and took her meal off of the ticket and offered to make her a new plate without the sauce on the noodles. The only reason I gave four stars is because the menu doesn't say that the noodles have the chicken sauce on them. Good food, good size portions, decent price, and excellent service. We will go back and just make sure that anything vegetable has no meat based sauce. read more

Just ok food. American Chinese food. The meat was grounded too much and it lost its texture. Pan fry pork buns were steamed before pan fried, it's not how traditional way of cooking this dish, that's why the dough was felling apart. The beef wrap only has one small piece of beef with mostly iceberg lettuce. Also want to mention the meat inside the dumplings and bun were pretty salty. read more
