As I was dropping a package at the UPS Store on East Valley this afternoon, I smelled something heavenly coming from the restaurant two doors down - Dumplings N More. I had seen their advertisement and decided to give it a try. Wow! I was by myself, so just ordered pork and scallion dumplings, steamed and a bowl of white rice. Also the black tea milk tea. The dumplings were so fresh - I could see them being made - and so delicious! Next time I'll try them fried, which was an option, but these were so flavorful on their own. On the table they offered small serving jars with soy sauce, chile oil and vinegar. I tried a little of all three mixed in with my rice - a great addition. The tea was really good, served in a giant frosty glass mug, with a real plastic straw, thank you very much! I didn't get any additions, but there was boba in several flavors along with smoothies and other delicious sounding drink options. Ahead of my meal, I was given a small dish of prawn crackers - I had never tried them before - kind of like a chinese verson of chips. Very light and just a hint of seafood flavor. The restaurant was very clean, staff was very friendly and attentive and prices were very reasonable for such good, fresh food and generous helpings. Ordered the following for takeout: - Vegetarian Dumplings - Xiao Long Bao - Dim Sum Combo - Bbq Pork Buns - Vegetarian Stir-Fried Noodles It was all very good except for the noodles, which were slimey and tasteless. A little MSG (which has a totally unwarranted bad rap) would go a long way on the noodles. The Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) were bland. They only included one tiny cup of the chili sauce that the dumplings need for flavor, and three such cups of soy sauce. Luckily, I keep a variety of the requisite sauces at home. The price was $75 and except for the noodles, the items were so small and light that it was barely enough for four people. WIth tax and a modest tip, the total was $90 for a meal that left everyone hungry after an hour. One huge plus: their 98 health score was much higher than the typical Chinese restaurant. read more

The service was terrible I asked for their pan fried buns, they said they were out. Then I askedif they had sesame chicken which isn't on the menu, they said they did. It really was sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds thrown on top. Staff isn't that friendly, I feel like as a first timer I would like suggestions or when I asking about a particular dish I would like more clarification than just yes or no. Let me start with the positive part of my dining experience. The staff were 5 stars, super friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was clean. The food, however, was extremely salty to the point I couldn't even finish most of it because of how salty everything was. We had the Smashed Cucumber, Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings (8pc), Garlic Green Beans, Wontons in Red Chili oil, Xiao Long Bao (Steamed Soup Dumplings), and Custard Lava Buns (6Pc). The spicy wontons and the custard lava buns were the only things not overly salty. I think most of it would've been delicious because the other flavors were good, but the salt was just overpowering all of it. The texture and temperature of the dishes were also on point, but again I just can't over look the amount of salt flavor it all had. I am not sure I would try it again as it was not just one item, but it was almost all of the dishes. There is plenty of parking and again the staff were great, so if you love overly salty food this may be worth a try, but not for me. read more

First dim sum place in Escondido! Was craving Din Tai Fung, but did not want to drive to La Jolla. Thankfully, I found this place instead. Clean restaurant with chill beats music. The XLB are a must try!! The soup inside is so flavorful. Will try the fried rice next time as I was not a fan of the texture of the stir fry noodles. The food here is amazing! We got the soup dumplings and siu mai for dim sum which were delicious. The siu mai was huge and had a lot of sticky rice (my favorite). The soup dumplings came with a separate sauce with ginger & soy base. The soup was very tasty. The servers were very attentive and friendly. My only complaint was the bubble tea. Its flavors for the strawberry and peach weren't very strong and came out a little bitter. The boba was really good though :) definitely would come back for the food read more

WOW! All these 5-star reviews! Anyone that's read my reviews will know that I am NOT a follower. I create my reviews objectively and give my ratings accordingly. Dumplings N More is the new kid on the block, so we decided to give it a go. Nothing particularly special about the ambiance. Your basic strip mall style eatery. The dining room layout was a bit crowded, but not a deal-breaker. Service and prices were average. Now, here's what dragged the rating from 5-stars down to 2-stars. Although my wife's meal arrived in a timely manner, mine was a different story. We waited at least 10 minutes before my plate made it to the table. That she is a really fast eater and I'm really slow didn't help. She ordered the Mongolian Beef dish which had good flavor, but it had quite a bit more onions than beef. Perhaps "Mongolian Onion" would have been a more appropriate name. I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp. In spite of having to wait an extended amount of time, it arrived significantly undercooked. I can say all the ingredients were fresh though. That's easy to tell when the vegetables are close to raw. But guess what, when the veggies are undercooked so is the shrimp. It was almost like eating sushi. On top of that, it came bathed in oil! I pretty much had to shake the oil off the food as I was consuming it. On the positive side, there was a sufficient amount of food, and it came out piping hot! At this point, we're in the high twos which would have resulted in a 3-star rating. However, when the server handed me the credit card device to sign, it included a tip with a total amount. Last I checked, a tip is to be determined by the patron, not the business. Needless to say, I promptly erased it and entered an amount based on MY opinion. read more

Been hearing great things about this newly opened XLB restaurant and seeing it posted on social media, so I decided today would be a perfect day to try this place out especially since I hadn't eaten anything all day. Came here in the afternoon, wasn't busy at all. The menu was delivered quickly and water was brought over as well. The menu wasn't too vast, pretty simple and straightforward dishes you'll find at most Chinese restaurants. Ordered the Kung Pao chicken, sautéed garlic green beans, and the XLB soup dumplings. The Kung Pao chicken was not too good. It looked completely different than the picture on the menu. The dish was sour (thinking they put black vinegar?), wasn't spicy, and heavy on the fillers (celery). The greens beans were really good and cooked al dente. The XLB was not good either. The flavor itself was passable but the big drawback was the actual soup itself. It had a very thick, gummy texture. It was almost as if they had filled the dumpling with a corn starch slurry. Definitely wasn't a refined broth that I'm used to getting when having XLB. The restaurant itself was pretty clean and orderly. The service was quick, food came out super fast, but again, the food was lacking my expectations. Probably won't be back. read more
