I thought it couldn't get better at Dun but it DID. I LOVE the spicy cumin burger (kind of similar to the beef/cilantro pancake in Spicy Village) and have gotten it for some time now... But TODAY I found out they included a little pack of sweetened condensed milk with my $3.50 milk buns. I cannot contain my excitement!!! I am a condensed milk LOVER. This food is sort of similar to the flavors of a Central Asian restaurant (eg Uzbek or like the dishes of Caravan Uyghur in Wall Street)... they even have an excellent Plov. read more

OMFG. SO GOOD. SO SO AMAZING! I ordered the Lanzhou beef noodle (not spicy because I just cannot handle spicy food). There are choices in thickness of the noodles and I went for regular since it was my first time. UM... I absolutely love the texture of the noodles here and the broth is just dreamy. The broth isn't super rich and has the perfect amount of taste to make it delicious af. Mind you, this is all for $6.50! Such a great deal. They also give so much beef within the bowl - personally it was a lot of food in one bowl. But portion wise, I think it's a great portion overall. Since it's quite new, it was kind of quiet when I went in an afternoon. Super relaxing and they offer friendly service. Absolutely would come back and highly recommend everyone to try if you are around the area! read more

I was excited to try this place since it's kind of been popping up all over my social media places. They have a few locations all over the city. Not sure if the prices are the same at every location but the prices at this one is pretty fair. The tea they serve is interesting, it's steeped with one type of berry or florals? I got the Chinese tomato noodle soup with the extra wide noodles. The noodles weren't bad, it wasn't exactly a broth, more like a very thick tomato sauce with a fried egg and some scrambled eggs... wasn't a huge fan of this, maybe because it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. My boyfriend got the signature lan zhou noodle with the regular noodles. Solid, nothing special from others. We also had the spicy curly fries which were crinkle fries tossed in what tasted like some cumin, red pepper powder and a chili oil? Their lamb skewers were good but nothing setting them apart from other skewer places and carts. If I were craving noodles I'd probably go a little further to meet noodles which isn't a far walk, or to the hand pulled noodle place down the avenue. Nothing special about this place but compared to a lot of other restaurants on 8th ave they are quite clean and looks more presentable. read more

This place has gone downhill real fast. I walked in no one noticed us waiting for a seat. The cashier is too busy counting money to even acknowledge us while we're just standing there waiting to be seated to empty restaurant. She flagged down the waitress that's too busy on her phone looked like she so nonchalant and uncaring towards us. The cashier told us to sit anywhere so we sat down and NO ONE bothered to greet us or even bother take our order for at least 10 minutes. No water or anything. The waitress is too busy still on her phone or cleaning a table across from us. The whole place was dingy and felt like they're lucky to have any business at all. We just got up and left to take our business elsewhere. No one noticed that we even left. The cashier in the front as well as the waitress could've careless that we left. There are so many other options on 8th ave that we found much more enjoyable. Would never go back to support this business. They just don't care. read more

Pretty good place for noodles. Decided to stop by here with my girlfriend and I got the Dun Huang Cold Noodles while she got the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles. Both of the dishes were pretty good but I prefer the cold noodles more since the flavor was all there and the spiciness of it was just the right amount to compliment the dish. The Lanzhou Beef Noodles were also marketed as spicy but when I had it, it wasn't all that spicy but the noodle wasn't bad. If I were to recommend something, get the cold noodles. You wont regret it. read more

Literally probably one of the best northwestern restaurants in the city. I had a combo a and husband had signature lanzhou noodles and the mung bean noodles. The broth and the sauce is sooo good. They should also sell their chilli red oil. The only complain I have is probably the burger bread, but I'm quite we are able to find something close enough to authentic northwest food. We will come back again for sure. read more

Ordered for takeout today after watching too many YouTube videos - got their beef noodles, cold noodles, cumin burger and lamb skewers. All came up to about $28 with tax, it's cheaper if you guys call for pickup so they don't have to pay for all those extra fees. For me 5/5 was the Cold noodles with chicken it was thin, chewy and so much flavor. 3.8/5 for the beef noodle soup because the beef was dry but soup flavor was good. 3/5 cumin burger was a bit dry and 3/5 for lamb skewers as they were a bit dry as well. Overall I would come back for the cold noodles and maybe the noodle soup. read more

Servers are really nice and interior is comfortable. I asked for tea and the tea came with rose and something else in there which is rare in most restaurants, the water have a slice of lemon which normally would only offer if asked. I only tried their none spicy noodles and it was pretty good. read more

Came here for dinner one night with a group of 3 and the restaurant was empty. Our group ordered the signature Lanzhou beef noodles, the non spicy beef noodles, the cold noodles, the eggplant salad and the spicy curly fries. All the food actually came within five minutes of ordering, minus the spicy curly fries which came towards the middle of the meal. The signature beef noodle's soup was not bad, a little sour a little spicy but nothing extraordinary. The non spicy one was flavorless. The cold noodle was nothing special, it was doused in so much chili oil it doesn't taste like anything else. All the noodles were slightly undercooked. The eggplant salad, however, was the best part of the meal. The sauce was salty, sweet and super garlicky (my fave). The spicy curly fries 1. Were not even curly, they were crinkle cut. 2. They were not even fries, just sticks of soggy potatoes 3. Also just swimming in a plate of chili oil. All in all, other than the eggplant salad. I would not come back here for the noodles. It was $45 horribly spent. read more

Been eyeing this place for awhile and finally got to try it. We only got noodles since it was lunchtime, but it definitely did not disappoint. You have 4/5 choices of what kind of noodles you want, which is a good option. For a price less than $10, they give you A LOT of noodles that will fill you up. I couldn't finish my whole bowl. Definitely recommend if you're a noodle feen like myself. Will be coming back to try more items on the menu like the entrees. read more

Ordered thru UberEats. We got 2 soup noodles: Soy & wine braised beef noodle, signature Lanzhou beef noodle. 2 burgers: cumin lamb, stewed pork. The soy & wine has a deep flavor broth and soft chunks of beef. signature Lanzhou has a clearer broth and thinly sliced beef. I can't decide which one is better. Definitely recommend to get extra wide noodles. Burger wise, I think the cumin lamb burger is worth ordering again. read more

We were in the area on our way to eat Pho when we came across Dun Huang. It looked like a new restaurant but there was a good amount of people in there. We looked it up on Yelp and saw that it had good reviews and decided to stop by. We were seated quickly despite the fact that there was only 2 people managing the entire restaurant. We were given water right away and ordered the mung bean noodles, cumin lamb burger, mala noodles and the beef noodles. The dishes came out all relatively quick, which was great because we were STARVING. The mung bean noodles has to be my top 5 favorite mung bean noodles. The lamb burger was just okay in my perspective. I'm from Xi'an so I'm quite familiar with the taste. Overall, it was a great experience and I loved my noodles! The price point was also extremely worth it and we ended up spending only $30 with tax/tip, 2 bowls of noodles, lamb burger and the mung bean noodles. read more

This place is such a hidden gem! Tucked away in the middle of 8th avenue, it doesn't get more authentic than this. First impression was wow, this place is spacious! My party of 7 adults and 2 kids got seated right away. We ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers and a mala pot to share and we each ordered our own noodles. Everything was cooked to perfection. My personal favorites were the mung bean noodle cold appetizer, the chicken salad, and the lan Zhou house special noodles. The chicken in the salad was soooo soft and tender and that sauce was basically crack. My friend was ready to pour it into his soup haha. Portioning was great, service was great, and 10/10 would come back again and try the rest of the menu! read more

I have to say this is by far one of the best noodle spots in the neighborhood! What I love most is that they use a beef broth to blanch the noodles separately. Most places just use boiling water, but that doesn't add flavor to the noodles. But the fact that they use a broth to blanch just adds flavor to the noodles. This place is definitely a great addition to 8th Avenue. For a while I felt that the area needed more authentic northern Chinese food. I really love their signature lan zhou noodles. The noodle texture has a nice chew and I love the fact that they offer extra noodles on their menu as well. The house special mung bean noodles here are actually my favorite alongside their signature noodles. It's a cold gelatinous noodle dish with their own spicy garlic sauce and oyster sauce, very refreshing for hot weather. The monstrous plate chicken was very flavorful but my only exception with this dish is that I wish the noodles were longer and not cut up into smaller pieces. The texture could have also been slightly softer. Food here is pretty inexpensive and definitely worth the value to get extra noodles. Customer service has been great both times that I've been here and the place is very sleek looking with some traditional Chinese elements to it. This place is probably going to become a go-to for me whenever I'm in the area. read more

The food was decent. I like it because of the types of noodles they use for this dish. I had their soy braised beef spicy noodles. The broth wasn't too spicy and it had a good balance to it. Came here around 10 pm late at night so I it was just me and my friends. The four star rating is solely because of the food. It tasted good but it's not something so amazing that I would come back for next time. Service is decent. Price is average. Nothing else to say about it. read more

Eggplant salad - this is like 1 Michelin star quality flavor. It is to die for. Mung bean noodles 3/5 star - this was such a huge let down, the flavors weren't quite there, a bit bland. Spicy cumin lamb burger - 4/5 star - this was a pretty good Appetizer to me because of how cheap it was. But obviously the flavors were there as well Lamb kebab - 3/5 - the skewers were pretty dry and not quiet as good. Overall - I would say this place is a 4/5 stars with their food, but the egg plant salad was too good not to give them 5/5. read more

Fantastic place! At first I thought it was just another chinese restaurant but they specialize in spicy food. The noodles are great, you get to choose the type of noodles you want, there's also choice of extra noodle , soup , meat and stuff which you pay extra for. There is also more items behind the menu. Overall great place with great food and decent service for a brand new restaurant. Noodles 5/5 ( seems like it's hand pulled or freshly made) Soup base 5/5 ( flavorful and spicy) Curly fries 2/5 ( not curly , basically boiled fries with curry over it Dessert [ egg and rice wine] 3/5 (it's a hot dessert not cold)(kinda exactly like steamed egg with hot lactaid milk with peanuts , sesame, and raisins)(personally not a fan of) They do have vegetarian options and non spicy options! read more

I love love love loveeee this place. I believed it's more a northern chinese spot. They have noodles, lots of side dishes and even skewers. I usually get their beef noodle soup with a little bit of spicy. BUT I always order the eggplant salad and cucumber salad. Noodle soup is so good but I can never finish it. You can choose your noodle size too! I always get the really thin one. A must go if you love noodles like me! Noodle is life! read more

Food is pretty good but do not tip on CC when you get food delivered. Delivery guy is a lazy fuck. he rides his scooter(real scooter aka vespa looking ass) on sidewalks and calls you and to come down and meet him by your front door(which he isn't by). Zero effort, lazy fucker cant even put his kickstand down. lesson for future cash tips only, if you cant even do the bare min and at least walk your ass to the front door like a civilized person no tip. This is the restaurants own delivery driver, not seamless/ubereats ect. read more

This is my second time at this location in Brooklyn and it is much better than the one in the city. Both time that I came it was not crazy busy but a lot of people come and go. The service can be a hit or miss but they get you out in no time. We got their beef noodle soup with extra wide noodles and its always great, they are very consistent with the noodle texture. This is definitely our go to when we are in Brooklyn. The dessert wasn't really fresh so we will pass on that next time but their fresh hand pulled noodles are a must! read more

Do yourself a favor and GET THE EGGPLANT APPETIZER! I enjoyed it even more than the entree (which is saying a lot). It was packed with garlic flavor. I also had the stir-fried noodles with lamb; the noodles had the perfect chewy texture of hand-pulled noodles and the lamb was seasoned well. I ordered takeout and it was ready super quickly, in ~10 minutes. There are tons of covered tables across the street in the courtyard, making this a perfect COVID-safe meal. Dun Huang is a franchise restaurant that specialize in Lan Zhou food. Since I found out about this place, I've been there twice. As it's getting cold, soup noodles are perfect. The signature Lanzhou beef noodle is my favorite with the regular size noodle. All the noodle dishes are available in thin, regular or thick width as you prefer. The Dunhuang cold noodles are also really good, spicy and rich in flavor. The spicy cumin lamb burger is very flavorful and come out nice and hot cause they are made fresh. read more

Great noodle soups! My favorite is the lang zhou beef noodles. Tip: you can pick what type of noodles you want (thickness, etc.) but they don't always tell you this when you're ordering. The lamb/pork/beef burgers are just alright - their other sides/apps are better. Mung bean noodles always hits the spot! read more

What a great addition to 8th Ave! I've been here a couple times and I haven't been disappointed! Dun Huang specializes in noodles but there are several entree items for groups to share. I tried several of their more popular items including the Dunhuang cold noodles, mala noodles, lamb skewers, and lamb burger and all were good. I must say that my favorite items so far are the Dunhuang cold noodles and the mouthwatering chicken. I'm a huge sucker for hot chili oil and both of those dishes are not skimping on it. Overall, Dun Huang is a great place for an affordable and flavorful meal with good service. read more

To be honest I didn't want to go there the first time because I saw all those positive reviews and wonder if they were fake reviews. I went there to give a try eventually and luckily I did! Their noodles and soup base exceeded my expectation and their beef actually were very tender and flavorful. They gave a lots of beef for that 8-9 dollars noodle and it definitely filled me up quickly. I like how offer different thickness for the noodle so this is a great variety. I also came back several times try to their cold dishes and they taste great as well. Most of them are very garlicky with good amount of vinegar and soy sauce. The only down side for me is that they are not spicy enough even though I put a lot of hot oil, but I am sure most people like it this way. Overall, I am glad that I found this place and I would definitely come back to try other bigger hot dishes! read more

Obsessed is an understatement. Since working from home due to COVID, my brother and I have been looking for new spots to try and happy to say that Dun Huang is now one of our faves! The spicy cold noodle with chicken is to die for and the mala spice gives it that nice kick! The lan Zhou beef noodle soup is also great but I'm into spicy foods so I always go with the spicy cold noodle. I'd highly recommend this for lunch/dinner - a great bang for your buck! read more

Lamb, burgers! Noodles! I thought Xian, or Biang were amazing, but but this place is better. Better taste, Better price. Even though they say spicy, it is the heat does not hit you as you are eating it, but but afterwards. The spices are wonderfully used to make the food taste better. read more

Delicious uber eats delivery! Ordered the cucumber salad, mushrooms, eggplant, lamb buns, and beef/noodle soup. The vegetables were all deliciously seasoned but not over oily. Soup was spiced well but broth was light so not overpowering. Lamb buns were amazing! Highly recommend. read more
