We love this place, although it is a bit pricey for the portions. When you're in downtown Newnan it's worth the stop. We love the brisket and the family pack has saved us many times when we were passing through without a plan for dinner. For St. Patty's day we ordered their sausage and cabbage large pan and it was very tasty just super light on the sausage and heavy on the cabbage, but once again it saved our dinner celebration so we were grateful. Ask for sauce for your sandwiches they are pretty dry without it! read more

Pretty disappointing food here. Nice restaurant, good ambiance, decent service for BBQ, interesting view of the cemetery across the street and convenient to the college and downtown. We were quite excited when we saw the menu our first time the other Friday night! They've got some great sounding selections. We ordered Brunswick stew, fried pickles, wings, pulled pork, catfish and shrimp, and a kids grilled cheese with sides of collards (veg of the day), beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. Almost every item pretty much tasted like it came off a Sysco truck, they threw it in the deep fryer and served it. No creativity or behind-the-scenes magic whatsoever. So this is a long overdue review. Ive been coming to duncs since they first opened their doors / drive thru. I've never had anything on the menu that has disappointed! All of their meats are cooked perfectly, with great flavor! I recently decided to try their burger as well. Best burger I've had in a looooooong time. I have NO idea why locals rant and rave about this place. The food is mediocre at best. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a brisket sandwich, hush puppies and 2 sides. No drinks and this meal was $40!!! The brisket and pulled pork was pretty much just cooked meat. No smokey flavor or grilled taste what so ever. So many people say BBQ is all about the sauce, that is a LIE! BBQ is about the meat! If it were only about the sauce people would just eat bowls of sauce. The meat should be able to stand alone and the sauce be a bonus. At this place neither can stand on their own. The best thing we ate was the hush puppies and that is the ONLY reason they got 2 stars. DELICIOUS!! Definitely a MUST visit for Newnan locals and visitors. My mom had the BLT, my sister the smoked chicken sandwich and myself the loaded potato. We also had the strawberry shortcake and banana pudding. The pork and chicken were so tender and perfectly cooked!! The fried okra was perfectly crunchy fried. The french fries were delicious and well seasoned. They also had white bbq sauce which we loved! The portions were generous and we took home leftovers! The restaraunt was so clean and the staff were so sweet and friendly. There was no wait and we sat in a comfortable booth by the window as soon as we came in. Our food was cooked fresh and was ready quickly. There's great parking lot with plenty of parking but you could also walk from downtown Newnan if you wanted. Banana Pudding is the Jam! Jumbo shrimp are not super jumbo and the price is a little high. The frying batter was a little salty but the sides are awesome! The BBQ smelled very good . The decor is super nice and it's very clean. Lots of parking and outdoor seating. My husband and I shared a meal and added extra shrimp and it was a perfect amount. We've eaten here a few times and have enjoyed our meals each time. This last time, we took my father for lunch (he's from out of state) and he loved it. It's one of his favorite places to visit now, whenever he comes to visit us. One of tells of a good restaurant is when the owner is available and walking around talking to each of the customers. The owner of Dunc's has stopped and talked to us each of the times that we've been there. The last visit was during the Corona Pandemic. All of the staff had face masks and those handling food (including delivering food to the tables) wore gloves. We've had a hard time finding good brisket in GA and Dunc's has helped to fill that void for us. read more

This is a favorite spot for my family to dine at when they come to visit us. Last night we we went for my sons birthday with our 4 out of town guests. We sat outside and it took an hour to get our food. After watching table after table that arrived over 30 minutes after us receive their food, finish it and leave we decided it was time to say something. We were very disappointed as we had spent over $125 dollars. There was plenty of staff working but our ticket must have been lost and we never received an apology. We are going to need to find a new local BBQ place to bring our out of town guest to in the future. Went at 7pm on a Friday night, ordered and waited for our food outside. Around 7:30pm I noticed that the owner turned the Open sign off - no biggie - it seemed like a good business sign. Wrong. People started trickling out of the joint without food, which I thought was strange. Additionally it had been over 30 minutes after we had ordered and we hadn't gotten word about our order. Finally, AFTER 45 MINUTES, a worker (young girl - totally not her fault) came out to tell us our order had to be refunded because they ran out of food. I asked to visit with the owner about this. He came out, bragging about his sales over the past four weeks, what "did we want to do about this receipt", didn't offer any incentives to return, or apologies for wasting our time. Not how you do business and all of it was extremely off-putting. Easily the best bbq in Newnan. The chicken is amazing along with the Alabama white sauce and their original sauces. Everything is so so so so good and I love their outdoor seating and that they have drive through. While our waiter work a mask I noticed several of the workers or maybe owners were not wearing one which would have been appreciated. After driving home and found they gave me someone else's order (door dash), I called and let them know and asked if they could remake my order so it would be hot and fresh by the time I got back to them, they said no. Indulged in both the banana pudding and shortcake and waffles out of here very satisfied. Owner & waitstaff friendly and know their menu items. Fresh made daily. I liked the "field peas" as a side. FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY! We've lived in Newnan for 16 years and FINALLY a BBQ joint that is what a BBQ is supposed to be. We ordered the pork plate and oh me.... no sauce needed for the pork, very tender, mild smoke as described on back of menu, slaw is the way slaw is supposed to be not cabbage soaked in vinegar. Okra was fried correctly. Ribs are trimmed correctly pre smoke, cooked the right amount of time not chewy, not tough. Service was great, everyone was so polite just as a southern BBQ joint should be. Will return and will tell everyone I know about this place. Oh yeah the strawberry shortcake will make yer tongue slap yer brains out! I can't say enough about how Great this place is. We ate there for the first time tonight. We all had BBQ pork which was delicious! We also had Brunswick stew, fries, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies and Mac and cheese. We didn't put a bite of anything in our mouth that wasn't delicious! The dessert was also to die for. We had a Pink Pig, which was a huge brownie topped with strawberry ice cream, whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Lastly, the owner came by and greeted us and was very personable! Dunc's is the ONLY barbecue place to go in Newnan! It's always a tough choice between chicken, brisket, turkey, pork, catfish, shrimp...and now chicken dumplings! Fried okra and Mac and cheese are always great choices for sides. Finished up with a great banana pudding, but their strawberry shortcake is also killer. This is my go-to place for comfort food. The real thing. We go here almost once a week. Great brisket, home made fried okra, chicken salad is delicious. Not only a yummy dine in place with the friendliest people ( I'm looking at you, Josh), but you can stop in and get smoked pulled chicken that I use for soup or tacos, we even get fried catfish to go to make fish tacos at home, or take home some chicken salad for the week. My husband and I are very picky when it comes to bbq, and there are at least 5 other bbq places in the newnan area; however, this is the only one we both raved about everything we ate.
