I've been coming here for years I do love their Sicilian slices. It's always the right mix of good quality cheese, sauce and dough. I have never gotten a bad pizza from them ever. You can order at the counter or if you want you can sit down restaurant style and they do have a restaurant style expanded menu of pasta and etc. The service is very good be it at the counter or the waitress. Ordered 2 pizza one white and one plain. Didn't receive the white but got the pepperoni instead. Lucky us that they are pretty good or it should be zero start. Hard to believe this restaurant is in a strip mall. It deserves it own building and truly be a "destination" eatery which it now has become for me. I have not tried its pizza, nor have stayed for in person service. Thus, can not comment on pizza or service. But, I have had over ten items on its rather large menu during past three months, and All not some, were wonderful and noteworthy to write about for others to enjoy. First, and probably most importantly, the taste of the food has been most appealing across the board. Whether a tomato sauce, vodka sauce, Marsala sauce, white wine, etc, all have been fantastic. The meats, beef, veal, and shrimp were cooked to perfection. All ingredients were placed together at the same time, as the dishes were still hot when I get home, even though I drive old man speeds away. I enjoy little things like the breads being toasted with the entree and the pretty garnishes with some dishes. I've come here different days of the week and different times of the day, and the food was consistently great. Last the prices are a steal. You get NYC upscale cooking at pizza parlor prices. I told Alexa, my server, that I wanted a Philly Cheese steak sandwich with onions, mushrooms and hot cherry peppers. She winked and out came my hugh sandwich 10 minutes later. Just the right succulent taste with a toasted hoagie roll. Mmmmm! Primo. I can picture eating it right now as I'm writing this. I devoured my order with a Pepsi. This place is super large, very clean with a friendly staff. At the time I was there the takeout order section was very busy and the sit down tables where I sat were empty. Food is always good/fresh and the staff friendly...but for some reason I end up getting pizza closer to where I used to live...I guess just out of habit and familiarity...Last weekend however I didn't feel like driving far and Rodolfo's was one of the few places open without the shortened holiday hrs on Sunday. Ordering thru their online portal is very easy. I like the fact that the online menu has a picture of the items so you see what you are getting. I ended up ordering a vodka grandma pie and a grandma half sausage and half pepperoni. The times I have ordered here I generally get round pies...this was my first time getting their grandma. Rodolfo's didn't disappoint. Vodka sauce was amazing as well as the toppings on the other pie. A little different from other grandmas I have had...Brothers Pizza in Staten Island and Joey D's in Metuchen both have very thin grandmas pie crusts which is what I am used to...Rodolfo's is a little thicker. Not think like a Sicilian slice (I am not a Sicilian slice guy) this grandma probably 1/2" thick maybe 1/3" thick...crispy and a little airy towards the middle of the slice...Their red sauce is very flavorful and garlicky which I like. They also pack their pizzas in a Rodolfo's branded box. It's all about the details. Most run of the mill places just use a Roma paper products box...never understood why more places don't put their name on pizza boxes...it's advertising all the way up to the time the trash man picks it up...but back to the pizza...they have a really good slice here. I sent some pictures to a friend of mine and she ended up going this past weekend to get a few grandma pies for her kids and husband all the way from North Brunswick just based on my pictures alone...I have only gotten take out here but there is in door dining. The food is divine but it is no longer worth the bad service or the demeanor of the management. I've been a pretty regular face in there the last 15 years and in the past few years have noticed a pretty passive aggressive attitude whenever I go in there. If I order a calzone over the phone, it's 50/50 I'm going to get one or they make a Stromboli instead and try to push it on me. They don't offer to remake it and will charge you full price for the thing you didn't order anyways, and they'll get passive aggressive if you ask them to remake properly. This has happened to me about five times in the past few months and has made the prospect of eating there dreadful. It breaks my heart, as I grew up going there as my primary pizza place, but I just don't want to have a consistently bad experience. My boyfriend went here for lunch and really enjoyed it, so we decided to order food for pickup for dinner. The dinner experience was much worse. My boyfriend called and ordered a chicken Tuscan panini. This was no problem. He also ordered a Caprese salad but kindly asked if it was possible if it could come on a bed of lettuce or lettuce on the side (doesn't matter, as long as there is lettuce.) The woman said she would find out for us. However, she didn't put us on hold. Instead, we heard her ask her coworker, "This guy wants lettuce underneath his Caprese salad. Can we do that?" The other girl said with a huge attitude, "It already comes with lettuce, so screw him." Anyone who knows what a caprese salad is knows that it does not generally come with lettuce, but f*ck me, right? The girl gets back on the phone and asks what kind of dressing we want. It was nice of her to ask, but I don't know what other dressing you would suggest for a Caprese salad that isn't olive oil or balsamic. Honey mustard? Thousand Island? We were beginning to think they didn't know what a caprese salad actually was. We agree with a previous review that the employees don't seem to have a knowledge of their own menu. Anyway, after hearing about how we should go screw ourselves, we picked up the food. The Chicken Tuscan panini was soggy and the bread was falling apart. The chicken was overcooked. However, the garlic sautéed spinach was very good as were the sun-dried tomatoes. The fries it came with were easily a 5/5 also. The caprese salad (I honestly had no idea wtf to expect) had a lot of potential but it was gross and I wouldn't get it again. They did put the caprese salad over a bed of lettuce as we requested, so thank you for doing that even though it probably pained you greatly to do so. There were roasted red peppers in the salad which were not only unexpected, but they also tasted disgusting and like they were old. The roasted red peppers are not listed on the menu as being an ingredient of their caprese salad, so I have no idea why they were there. Perhaps I should go screw myself for not realizing they already come in the salad too. The mozzarella was good. The lettuce was good. The tomatoes were pale and flavorless. We wanted to give this place a 2, but since my boyfriend had a very good lunch experience before, we decided to give it a 3. As a disclaimer, it's totally fine with me if you want to talk sh*t. I get it. It's the end of the day, you're tired, you want to go home. But screw you too, learn to put people on hold. read more

I had a bad experience here many years before they revamped the interior. I don't know if this pizzeria is still family owned and operated or purchased by entirely new owners...but, I'm going to explain what happened to me and give them the opportunity to impress me to change my rating. My wife and I are huge fans of Tony's Pizzeria here in the same town, but it's important to try new places, because they will either help you truly appreciate even more what you already know, or you might find something particular another place does better. My wife and I ordered cheesesteaks w/peppers, onions and ketchup. It was some time after 1pm, two guys were working the counter and we asked for the bread to be toasted. I don't remember waiting too long and the food was brought out to where we were sitting. My wife opened her cheesesteak to see if enough ketchup was added and we found a bottle seal or liner in the sandwich. Finding hair in food is one thing, so this was not only odd, it was hard to comprehend at that moment. Hind sight; it's most likely that her sandwich was the first to get ketchup and instead of using a small squeeze bottle, they poured the ketchup out of one of those gallon size containers and didn't realize the liner didn't stay with the cap and poured out along with the ketchup. I'll include some images below for explanation. This isn't what upset us. It's how they reacted when we brought it to their attention. They didn't offer to redo it or reduce the cost of the sandwich. Instead, they asked us if we put that in there! My wife and I decided that would be the last time we ever go. Based on the reviews, they are either still plagued with poor service or just unfortunate mishaps. Nonetheless, if a business owner posts a review of his own restaurant, that's just weird. read more

The people running this pizza place seem to think very highly of themselves. Although there was an issue with a very large phone order (over $250) they took zero responsibility for their portion of the error. They immediately put the blame on us for the problem. They continued to argue with us for much longer than necessary. There was no "comp" for any of this inconvenience. The pizza wasn't the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth. I usually always love this place.... Great ingredients equals great pizza. But today I was super disappointed I order on large cheese pizza for my kids and a large Buffalo chicken pizza for the adults. I was disappointed to see that they basically took a cheese pizza and just put pieces of chicken tossed in Buffalo sauce on top and called it a day. I know for a fact that this isn't the way the pizza is usually made as I have made this very order many times.. there is usually no pizza sauce on the Buffalo chicken pizza and you could clearly see that it was originally a cheese pizza as there was pizza sauce all on the rim of the pizza from it cooking in the oven. For the prices here the pizza should definitely be made to order. I didn't cut corners on my pay so please don't cut corners when making my food. This location is 25 mins from my home. partner grew up in SP but we don't live there. it would have been such an inconvenience to go back to the location to ask for them to make the food correctly so we all just sucked it up and ate the pizza but this experience definitely made me rethink taking the drive back to SP solely for an their pizza. I'm not sure it would be worth it in the future as I'm not sure if this would happen again. read more

This place has really come a long way. We used to be torn between Rodolphos and Salerno's but hands down this is the best pizza in town. The pizza has been made so good the past 6 months , and the delivery has been speedy. Also their procedures for pickup are quick, with a bell outside, they come out you pay and get your order. They were very quick and efficient. They have a doorbell on the table for you to ring so that they come out and hand your pizza and process your payment. Very COVID-19 friendly. Did some takeout for National pizza day in February 2023. Pizza was not fresh,tasty or dynamic in any way. Staff wasn't friendly as usual and expensive. Use to be good but very inconsistent over our last few visits. If you buy a full expensive pie. Is definitely better that what they sell over the counter. Just recently had their Burrata and it was insanely out of control. They have really stepped up their food selection since there face lift. The Burrata is something never seen before at Rodolfo's or in the borough of South Plainfield. They just have been adding new items and really raising the bar. The girl was there again, well idk there's two blondes that look the same.. both have attitudes like they're being forced to work there against their will... anyway, I walk in and stand there waiting for service and it took 4 minutes (yes we timed it) to get a how can I help you... the funny thing is, this time it was the girl, the owner, and two other ppl... and all of them made eye contact with us... Finally a place in South Plainfield that actually makes GOOD PIZZA. I tried a slice of cheese pizza. It can literally compete with pizza joints in NYC. Thin crust , not alot of oil , and the cheese is just flavorful ( although a bit stringy, but hey personal preference ). This was by far the worst experience. I didn't get to try the food because a manager hung up on me and told he wasn't going to deliver when I called to check on an order after waiting 50 minutes. I was told they would come in 45. My order was sitting there done and no one delivered it. I was told it would've been there if I didn't call. When I asked about the attitude I was told "that's just how I talk". Then told me to eat somewhere else. Despicable customer service. Thanks for the reply but I'm actually a recovering alcoholic and I've been clean for 15 years. But this is a great example of your excellent customer service. I eat here regularly as it is close to my job. Love the pizza. I dream about their baked ziti. The day they reopened (after renovations) on Thursday I went there for my fix!!!
