Headed to a cardiologist follow up appointment and, yes, I probably shouldn't have stopped for another coffee this morning. Not exactly a brilliant idea, but I did it anyway because sometimes the small comforts win out over common sense, especially before sunrise when the world is still quiet and you're trying to ease into the day. This Dunkin' sits in South End and for reasons known only to them, the outside lights weren't on before dawn. I drove past it twice, wondering if I'd imagined the location entirely, before finally spotting the darkened entrance to the parking lot and easing in. Once inside, everything was business as usual with the full lineup of flavored coffees, donuts, and the familiar parade of baked goods that always seem to glow a little under those warm display lights. There are a handful of tables where you can sit with your laptop, and that's exactly what I did. I settled in for about a half hour, sipping my coffee, warming up, and letting the morning take shape at its own pace. It wasn't anything fancy or memorable, but it was a small pocket of calm before heading on to the appointment, and sometimes that's enough to make the stop worthwhile even when you know you probably shouldn't have made it in the first place. Given the choice between Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts, I always go to Dunkin. Krispy Kreme basically offers one kind of donut, and it's drenched in a sugar coating. Dunkin (usually) offers a nice variety. I wanted to surprise my coworkers on Saturday morning with a box of Munchkins. I purposely left the house early to stop by this Dunkin' Donuts (the only one on my way or near to where I was going). It was 9:30 in the morning and when I ordered, I was informed that they only had a handful of Munchkin donuts left. Seriously? They realize they're a DONUT shop, right? It's even in their name. Anyway, I took a variety of what they had, which turned out to be blueberry, cinnamon/sugar, and plain. The blueberry were awesome. The plain was like eating dirt. The cinnamon/sugar was basically cinnamon covered dirt (I guess they ran out of sugar, too?). Even if they sold out, how long does it really take to fry up a donut and make more? Or even toss some powdered sugar or pour some glaze over the plain ones? Does only one person know how to do it and they called out? OMG -- do your job and make some more freakin' donuts! We rushed to this Baskin Robbins to get some ice cream before they closed at nine. We pulled up at 8:55 PM to find the door locked and all of the food put away. Even though this place is always packed with the Stepford Wives-Dilworth edition, I still love it. Conveniently located just south of East Blvd on South Blvd (enough directional points for you?), it's the perfect place to stop when you are just outside of Uptown. I try not to go during the weekend since it gets packed in there but even so, the staff is friendly and efficient. I order a coffee and a flatbread sammie for under $4 and bam, have both in hand in less than two minutes. Check out their flavored syrups so you can add some pizazz to your java. I love the coconut and cinnamon (separate of course) however I kinda want to take a chance on the blueberry or get really saucy and mix vanilla and chocolate together to see if it would emulate a black and white cookie. The eggwhite flatbread is one of my favorite things EVER and that along with the solid coffee they offer, keeps me coming back for more. They offer coupons in the Citipass book plus they have a calendar you can buy in store for only a buck, it has coupons for each month so it's a deal and a half. Don't know if this is a language barrier with the workers at this location as far as interpreting what's on the screen but the food preparers got four orders in a row wrong. Each time someone saying that's not their order. Also preparers calling customers orders out inaudibly. I order a smoke sausage sandwich and I got a smoke sausage with cheese, egg AND a round sausage. That was after my order was wrong the first time. Which leads me to believe all she did was put a smoked sausage on it without preparing a new one. And I should've checked before I left out but was already there for 10 minutes. The front cashier young woman was trying her best to help them get things right. The manager at this location needs to be present or make sure that there are people there to assist the food preparers to make sure this location runs smoothly. read more

From donuts to bagels, bananas to ice cream Dunkin' Donuts is on point. My Mom is a Dunkin Donuts fan, vanilla cream donuts especially. We usually stop when we're in the area for two donuts and a coffee. And, we leave with a smile. I love that they accommodate coffee requests, one sugar/two and cream/skim milk, etc. Most recently I moved closer to the area so I have expanded my sampling of menu items including bagels and ice cream. Their bagels are on point, toasted with butter or cream cheese, so good. Honestly one of my favorite everything bagels, coated in sesame seed, poppy seeds, salt perfectly. Stopped in here because I was in the area running errands & I had a gift card (no shame...) and was pleasantly surprised at how this location is run. The staff here is extremely friendly and efficient. This Charlotte DD location may actually win for friendliest service....if they were ever to give out badges for that sort of thing. I was in here on a Friday morning around 10 a.m. so I missed the morning rush but the bagels/muffins/pastries were fully stocked. I ordered a hot hazelnut swirl coffee but, unfortunately, it didn't have much flavoring. With dunkin coffee, I can always count on tasting the flavor and/or the sweetness but with this particular one I couldn't which I found very odd. I ended up staying in to eat, drink, and soak up the free wi-fi for a little bit. As I took my seat, one of the employees came by to check if my table was clean enough to my liking! I think I have a love/hate relationship with DD that usually ends up on the love side most of the time. I love the convenience of all the locations and I give them props for their consistency as far as providing products. Probably should stick with the local small businesses, but it's so hard to avoid since DD's are everywhere. This location off of South Blvd has a small parking lot and sometimes can be challenging to get in and out of due to the traffic on South Blvd. There are a ton of businesses around and the intersection of East/West Blvd is super close - so everyone and their bother seem to be traveling on South Blvd whenever I want to go here. The staff is friendly... though I questioned if some of them were old enough to be working... haha j/k I don't think DD would want any labor laws after them, but they are young and full of energy. They will get you what you need and fairly quickly. I'm usually a doughnut guy, but this location is a split Baskin/Robins so you can get ice cream and cakes here as well. Probably the most over-looked, under appreciated items are their sandwiches... I think everyone is so used to coffee and doughnuts, but DD has tried really hard to bring some savory options to the table. Don't bother with curbside pickup at this location. You'll sit in the curbside spot for 20 minutes while they glance up at you and look away. Your drink will get cold sitting in the counter and when you go in to get it they'll all walk away from the counter so you can't even say anything. WORST DUNKIN' EXPERIENCE! I am an avid Dunkin' donuts drinker until today. I normally eat my lunch there while I am on break with a tea or an ice cream after, unaware that if you do not make a purchase every trip you may not be inside or in the parking lot of the Dunkin donuts. An employee (NAMED MICHELLE) approached me and my friend and rudely told us that she has seem us in there a lot and that we are not a paying customers so we cannot be there. After explaining to her that we often buy something and bring our own silverware she made a snide remark (oh really) and said that her manager sent her over, the whole time with an attitude. She then proceeded to walk behind the counter and talk badly about us. After that I was not going to purchase the iced coffee I had originally planned on getting, and instead had to try to find another coffee shop. While leaving she made another snide comment along the lines of "Bye ladies, See you soon". As we walked outside we walked to the edge of the parking lot and looked across the street to see what was offered over there, since we needed to find a new lunch spot. We stood at the edge of the lot for approximately one minute and turned around to walk back to our cars before Michelle came running out the front door yelling at us with a phone in her hand. She was yelling that she was calling the towing company to have our cars towed since they were still in the lot, and then proceeded to accuse us, continuing her previous rant from earlier. When I called to speak to the manager, Monica, she told me that they would review the security footage to see what really happened and see how many times we had purchased something. Never in my life have I been treated this way and I will never be returning to this Dunkin', and likely never another. I came here (Baskin Robins) for ice cream and luckily for me it was their anniversary so any scoop of ice cream was $1.31-Otherwise it's $2.79. I got two scoops. One was pistachio and the other was jamocha. The pistachio was refreshing and had chunks of raw pistachios in it. It was awesome. The jamocha ice cream had swirls of fudge within it and some kind of nut. I couldn't tell, but both were very good. My husband got the cake ice cream and it was AMAZING!!!!!! Love getting my morning coffee here. They are quick- very quick. Parking is right out front. No drive through but you will probably have your coffee in hand before you even finish paying. Just went into the store on the way to work this morning and service was good, order was how I wanted it, but, I looked around and there was not one bottle of hand sanitizer available to the public. I looked behind the counter, and there was a huge container of it, but only available for employees. I had a very unpleasant and disappointing experience today. I was looking forward to an iced coffee after a long shift at the hospital, there were a few people in line ahead of me as I walked in but I had no problems waiting. I was not once acknowledged, and waited in line for about 10 minutes and I'm not sure as to why. The girl seemed young and very unhappy to be working. When I swing by this DD around 6am, I am always surprised that they are fully stocked with donuts of all varieties. For comparison, I live by the DD off Mallard Creek which is usually a disaster. Long line that doesn't move and no choices. If you grew up in the Northeast, you grew up on Dunkin Donuts and every so often a craving strikes. I usually get a large cup of coffee/extra cream/2 sugars and taste that sweet nostalgia in a styrofoam cup. The parking lot here is odd, but when it's still dark out, it's usually empty. Terrible service. Ordered a breakfast sandwich. Waited 10 minutes. I see the sandwich come out of the kitchen. Just then the cashier decides to take a 'break' (there were a whole 2 customers in the place, both of us waiting extremely long). She grabbed what I thought was my sandwich, and takes it to a seat to eat it herself. I then waited another 10 minutes. Nothing. The new cashier asks what I was waiting for. This is the WORST Dunkin I've ever been to. They are the most incoherent workers and offer the worst customer service. The breakfast sandwich was done half ass, the donut was stale. We had to ask for a refund on our coffee because 10 customers all got their coffee before us and forgot about us. They weren't even apologetic and just acted stupid about it. Ordered a ice cream hot fudge sundae and the staff seemed bothered that I was even in the store. Was handed my dessert and the topping was really old and filled with chunks of what seemed to be coffee grounds. I asked if it was ok to eat and she assured me it was.
