I don't drink coffee - however, I'm actually posting a review of this location, because after a few visits, mainly because one of my friends grew up in Chicago - and grew up on Dunkin' Donuts - I'm commenting on the service. Each time (2), I had a smoothie. They're fine. Not so great I'd drive to Santa Monica just for it - but decent enough that I ordered it again, when I was here the other day. Each time though (2), service was pretty bad. This time around - after paying for my order, the cashier just looks at me while I'm waiting for my change like I'm the one with an problem. When I ask for my change and show her my receipt, it was as if I was burdening her, due to her mistake. No apology. Just all attitude as she did what she had to do to complete the transaction. Then, I went over to the pick up counter and I asked for the restroom key code and let the employee there know, that I would be going to wash my hands. I had barely finished and closed the door and I can hear the employee yelling out my number. Again, with attitude. Probably because I didn't respond immediately. Now, I understand she sees lots of people and probably didn't remember me letting her know I'd be right back - so that's not my issue. My issue is the attitude of not just one, but two of the employees I encountered there. The attitude from the second person was sharp enough that as I approached the counter, I could hear other customers, who were waiting on their drinks, trying to explain that I was on my way. I've had many conversations with people about my feelings towards the decline of customer service these days. My experiences with DD, specifically at this location, only reinforce those feelings. read more

This fatso remembers how awesome this chain was during his days on the East Coast. How their coolattas would keep him chill during the dog days of summer with 100% humidity. How their steaming cup of large black hazelnut coffee would keep him warm during those bitter winters where the cold seeps through the earmuffs. Anyway, this place is a Hollywood-ized version of the East Coast shops. Brand-new flat screen TV menus, cool lounge chairs with cushions. But do they still live true to their namesake from Beantown? Yes, they do. We got the half dozen (including Boston Cream, maple cream, Bavarian cream) as well as a large black hazelnut coffee. Well, at least, that's what I ordered. They were frantically trying to fill the orders and poured a regular black coffee for me. The Boston cream was THE BOMB. This was an excellent pillowy soft donut, with a not-too-sweet chocolate coating, filled with their signature custard. My better half liked the maple cream - crunchy, sweet maple glaze on the surface of the donut sealed the deal. Welcome to the WEST Coast DD! My first experience at DD was in NYC years ago. I remembered how SWEET it was then and didn't care for them much then. Thought to give it a try and I don't remember them being too sweet from what I remembered. We were out and about early this morning and picked up some donuts from down the street (not gunna mention name) for my daughter's Key Club Fundraiser. While we were leaving that location,we decided to stop by DD. They weren't crazy busy but enough people to keep everyone busy! It doesn't matter what flavor your get. ALL the donuts has it's unique flavor and texture. In our family, we like to share. We always half the donuts in fours so that we get to taste all the flavors and this is what we shared. Bluberry Cake - This really does remind me of a cake without the frosting. I enjoyed the creamy, blueberry flavor. It was slightly glazed that didn't over power the flavor of the donut. This next one reminds me of Homer, Strawberry Frosted Donut. First of all, it's so pretty eat. It's strawberry flavored glaze on top with sprinkles. Very pink vibrant color dounut that just makes you want to dance. I enjoyed the strawberry flavor in the glaze. The Bavarian Kreme & Vanilla Kreme similar except the Vanilla was villed with a lighter cream. The Bavarian cream is a light vanilla pudding in the center and dusted with confectioners sugar. I thought it was going to be rich and dense but instead light and fluffy. Very easy to eat. Oreo Cheesecake Square Donut was decadent. Very interesting & delightful. Definitely richer. Really taste like dessert. Very light and fluffy just like the Bavarian Kreme. The donut is square, cheesecake frosted on top and sprinkled with finely crushed Oreo cookies on top. Filled with more cream cheese. I also had a small coffee with cream & sugar to help wash it down! So next time you go to a bakery or donut shop with your loved ones, remember to share! OK OK OK east coasters. Don't kill me for this... I went to the grand opening on 9/2 early in the morning. I spent 2 hours and 45 minutes in line so I could pick up donuts and coffee for my east coast bosses. I was hot, sweating and exhausted before I got to work. For a grand opening, they did very little to plan things out with TWO registers ringing up customers. THAT IS INSANE. Also, they let people buy no-limit, which is ridiculous and takes forever. Went to the Santa Monica location a few weeks ago. Arrived home and I found my sandwich order to be completely burnt! When I returned the sandwich I ask the Manager or salesperson why would anyone think it is okay to give thus to anyone. I then asked for a return of money. Fast forward, I went into DD yesterday and got the worst service ever. I asked for a coffee with clear vanilla flavoring or pumps and an empanada. When I received the coffee it had creme in it which I cannot drink. I ask the manager for it to be changed and she stood there and argued with me about what I ask for and have been receiving it for years at thus location. Anyway she did handed back to me with the flavoring in it, atleast that is what I thought! I asked nicely did you also put the Splenda sugar in it? She snatched it back and returned it to me in less than 5 seconds. She had not put the flavoring in it or the sugar. How disrespectful!!! I ask for all of my money back because I refuse to spend my money where I am not welcomed! How dare her give me a messed up order at my expense. Also, I tipped $1.00 for nothing! I've always liked Dunkin' Donuts. I buy the coffee for my coffeemaker and the smell of it rouses me in the morning. The hype around the chain has died down in the Southland, which makes it easier to grab a cup at this place. But it's just not the same. I still like the regular coffee. I don't like that they stash the creamers behind the counter and you can't determine how much you can put in. But I can forgive that. The workers are pretty nice, but they can't make a coffee coolatta for shit. Extra sugar does not equal extra deliciousness. It's a balancing act, man. I'm tearing up at the fact that I have to wait to leave the state in order to get a fucking decent DD frozen coffee beverage. Sigh. The donuts are pretty good, but nothing you can't find outside of the chain. If you're around and in the mood, sure. But SoCal DD just doesn't have that east coast feel. Sigh. read more

Staff is rude and disrespectful. I have only been here twice and both times were horrible. The first time I went there my food was sitting at the counter and I didn't know it. Went to this store and purchased over $75.00 worth of donuts, coffee, etc., to take to a construction crew that's doing some work for me. When they had my order all ready (which took longer than it should have) they gave me four boxes of donuts, a container of coffee, some napkins, some cups, and some sugar but they didn't give me anything to carry all of this in. When I asked if they had a bag the response was "if you want a bag it will be $0.83" so I asked "even though I bought all of this stuff, over $75 dollars I still have to buy a bag?" The answer was yes and I expressed that I thought this was ridiculous but I needed a bag so I gave in and bought the bag but then they didn't even it the items in the bag for me, instead I had to do it. I certainly didn't feel like a valued customer and the staff didn't seem to care about their jobs or even making an impression. I could consider the aforementioned experience as normal but in reality I know it's just this location that's crappy. I usually go to the Dunkin near my house in Mission Hills or the one off Balboa in Encino where I've also made large purchases, never had to pay for a bag, and most importantly where i was greeted and treated like a customer. read more

The donuts look nice and taste OK. The staff/service is the issue. I stopped by on Monday to make a large order - about $90 - for early morning pickup on Wednesday. No problem I was told. Just show up on Wednesday at the appointed time, show my receipt and pick up the boxes. I arrived and showed my receipt. First response was "What's this?" I gave my name and said I was there to pickup a prepaid order placed in person on Monday. The reply was "Oh, I don't work on Monday, so I don't know anything about this order." I said that (employees name) took my order on Monday and filled-out an order sheet. The person disappeared and returned with the order sheet. No apology or comment. Went to this dunkin for a cold brew and a donut while patiently waiting. This location is always pretty busy in the morning but it looked extra busy today. Waiting for my stuff a lady moved in front and starts asking for her order. As this blonde girl told her to please wait one minute as they were super busy and they would be right with her. The lady waiting for her order then proceeded to get very mad and kept putting her hand in the workers face getting mad and then snatches food from worker and asks for manager. Do not get me wrong, I love Dunkin's coffee. Which is why I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1. I continuously have problems at this location wether it be how rude all the employees and the managers are or with the quality of their food and drinks. They either undercook or completely burn the food which is actually really hard with the ovens they use, since there are buttons you press for each item and the quantity (somehow they mess it up every time); and they never make their drinks to standard. It's like they're making flavored iced lattes while blindfolded and don't read recipe cards when new drinks come out. Each and every person that works there before noon (never been after that time so I can't judge the afternoon staff) has an awful attitude and is completely unwelcoming. The only reason I still come in, is because I worked at Starbucks for so long that I'm over their coffee and the prices are a lot cheaper. I have actually called the customer service line after the manager yelled at all the customers in the store a couple weeks ago and they guaranteed to retrain them on how to treat their customers. This was my first stop at this dunkin as I am from out of town. Firstly, the location itself is extremely dirty and crowded. Such an experience would be bearable if the customer service was on par with that of mcdonald's workers but they simply do not care about their customers. I requested a water and have still not received it after 15 minutes. The lady taking the orders talks to everyone rudely and gives attitude towards any question. The management seems to be okay with this as they reinforced her negative attitude towards customers simply asking why their order had not been given out after waiting for so long. Have been to this Santa Monica Dunkin' location about a dozen times now, usually on the way to or from someplace else. It's rarely a destination in and of itself, but it's pretty conveniently located for going to and from the beach areas. They're really fast, even when they're busy, so I can pop in and out on my way without losing much time. Every time I drop-in the food is tasty (I usually get the egg and croissant sandwiches), the staff is great, they're super friendly, and they all seem happy to work there. Yesterday it was David and Mary who were awesome. But I've never had a bad, or even mediocre experience with the staff there. They are always positive. Seriously, the only thing I don't like is the fact that they don't let you you tip on a credit card. This staff DESERVES a tip, and I often don't have any cash on me. This DD is on a busy street corner but there is metered street parking. The donuts are OK and not made on the premises, like Krispy Kreme does. They also sell bagels, muffins, and sandwiches. Their coffee drinks are much less money than Starbuck's and taste just as good. This DD has a nice atmosphere with comfortable chairs and coffee tables (double entendre). The help are very friendly. I have been here 8 or 10 times and have not seen any homeless people inside or outside. Perhaps it is too far a walk from downtown Santa Monica. I shall return. read more

Yesterday morning I came in and ordered a pumpkin flavored coffee with oatmilk. I specifically said that and the lady at the register kept saying latte and all this other coffee lingo that I don't know. This DD was okay. The donuts were tasty enough. My son was happy, but the vibe of the place is mediocre. The service was proficient, but not warm and friendly. One of my favorite things about Dunkin is that they offer savory items, too, some of which are actually healthy! I always feel guilty by stopping at a donut place, but lately I have been getting my Boston Cream donut with a coffee, and a Wake Up Wrap. I get a fixing for my sweet tooth, but then I also get a light and filling savory treat. There is usually street parking along the building, if not, there is limited parking in the back.
