I saw there was boba here so I decided to try. Ordered the honey dew boba smoothie which was worth it and affordable. The lay mom and pop shop in this plaza. Variety on the menu from entrees to desserts and other drinks. When I visit Santa Monica area, I'll most likely keep this in my go to visits. The service was very personable, felt like home.

We got a ton of donuts here. They were all good, and what you'd expect. They also tasted fresh at 3-4pm when we got them, which can be rare for small donut spots like this. The lady also gave us two free donuts with our purchase just to be nice. Our favorite was the bear claw filled with apple cinnamon! I will be back for more.

Donut King is awesome because it's always convenient they have tons of options at great prices. The store always smells good and has great service. The two lady's inside are the nicest people you'll ever meet. The ham cheese and bacon croissant is always the go to. It comes with ham cheese egg bacon and I always get mine with mayo. The croissant is nice and warm the bacon and egg is cooked to perfection and the ham adds the perfect amount of sweet and savory flavors. Their glaze twist is always nice sweet soft and warm hits every time.

A solid donut. From the outside this place looks like a typical donut shop but the inside is quite nice. We came in the evening which is probably the worst time to come for donuts since they are usually on low supply or a few hours to a whole day old. We ordered one chocolate donut and 1 glazed donut and both were super delish. Even after being there for a while they were soft and sweet. The lady at the front was super nice too. Always love supporting a small business.

Lots of options here for those looking for breakfast. They had some delicious looking donuts, but I opted for the turkey, egg, and cheese croissant. It was simple, but great.

Donut King, a family run shop, is serving up great donuts bake fresh daily, hearty sandwiches, coffee, milk, juices and soft drinks. I ordered an Apple Fritter, which I photographed and included in this review, the fritter was crispy to my bite, and soft on the inside and filled with Apple bits. I recommend their fritter. The coffee was ok. The owners believe in service with a smile which makes the experience even better. My scribe is 8.75 out of 10. read more

Great Service, the women in the counter gave me and my friends free donuts as we were leaving after already buying donuts because we told her we drove 2 hours to try her donuts. Came in yesterday 3/13 around 8pm. The ladies service was not so professional or nice. However, there was also a homeless lady inside, causing absolutely NO disturbance whatsoever!! I understand if the lady herself doesn't want her inside, but to yell at her to get out when she was doing nothing but having her head down is very wrong. She is still a human, just with different lifestyle. No one wants to be yelled aggressively "GET OUT NOWWW!!". Then made us feel rushed out as well. Again, i understand feeling comfortable in your shop, but homeless or not she is a human with emotions. Also, attitudes given towards my mom over asking for napkins. I don't believe a customer should have to search for their own napkins while the lady is "right there" "there!" , woman just get up and show us lol.. ridiculous read more

I accidentally stumbled across Donut King and was pleasantly surprised to find out they serve fresh juices! I ordered the #3 juice beet, carrot, celery, and apple and watched as she cut up all the fruits and veggies fresh before putting them into the juicer. You can really taste the difference. It was super refreshing and honestly way better than I expected from a donut shop. The donuts were pretty tasty too, but the fresh juice is what's going to keep me coming back. Staying down the street from here, I walked through a few times since I'm here for 3 days and got a few items. Apple fritter is delicious. Croissants are huge but sell out quickly. I got an everything bagel toasted with regular cream cheese. Everything I have eaten here has been decent. If you use a card you pay a .75 surcharge. Support small businesses! read more

The employees are very nice who work here. We ordered a maple bar and a ham & cheese croissant which were both very good and fresh tasting. I like jalapeños with my croissant but they don't offer those here. If you do a yelp check in they'll include free donut holes. read more

Omg...I am in love. This is how a doughnut should be. Fluffy, fresh, cooked in oil that is changed regularly. Doughnut King is perfection on the classics, none of this cronut nonsense. We had the doughnut holes & an apple fritter. The breakfast bagel sandwich (#7) was also pretty solid. Good ratio of bagel to cheese, bacon & eggs. Good thing we don't live close by...otherwise I would probably twice of what I currently do. Magic. read more

I live down the street. The last few days I've been craving donuts. I was at Ralph's yesterday and picked up an Apple fritter and maple bar. It was alright for $.89 each. Today I was on Pico turning left on Lincoln. The craving hit again so I went to Donut King to compare my previous experience. I picked up an Apple fritter and chocolate filled custard (Ralph did have that kind). The price was about $2 each. The taste and freshness was with the price. The Apple fritter was double the size, fluffy, the icing was delicious. The chocolate custard was light, custard was not overly sweet. They also felt more filling. Crackin spot. read more

Donut King is my go to donut shop!!! Their donuts are always really fresh. But my favorite thing here is their sandwiches. Our favorite neighborhood donut shop. JImmy makes great donuts. I especially love the apple fritters and the chocolate-covered donut rolls. Also my favorite breakfast sandwich is the #8 with bacon, ham and egg on croissant. Also great boba and tea drinks. Not on the menu are peanut coconut and peach mango smoothies. Great. I don't venture here for the donuts. I go for the drinks. I love the pineapple coconut smoothie. It has a wonderful, thick consistency, isn't too icy, and has the perfect amount of sweetness to leave me craving more. While I don't go for the donuts, I certainly never turn down the yelp check-in offer for three free donut holes. The glazed ones were soft and tasty, but there was nothing amazing about them. However, they were a nice, free accompaniment to my smoothie. read more

I ordered The Spicy P ($16.00), featuring a chicken cutlet, spicy vodka sauce, mozzarella, basil pesto, grated Romano, and fresh basil, all on a grilled seeded baguette. As a big fan of Chicken Parm, a dish I enjoyed often growing up, I was thrilled to find a place serving it on the West Coast. I used to get chicken parm subs regularly when I lived in MA, so it was wonderful to find something that brought back those familiar flavors - a truly authentic East Coast-style sandwich. I appreciated the chewiness of the seeded baguette and the sesame seeds added a nice textural element. The bread was soft and fresh, and the chicken cutlets were excellent, smothered in gooey, cheesy goodness. While I loved the spicy vodka sauce, it wasn't very spicy, especially for a sandwich named "Spicy."I really enjoyed the Spicy P and would definitely order it again, but I'd also like to come back and try The Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap next time. Ggiata is definitely worth checking out. I recommend ordering online in advance to avoid a long wait. They have a few stools inside and chairs outside, but it's better to take it to go and enjoy the beach or people-watch in Venice.

I loved the caramelized onions and mushrooms in Wanda. The bread was top 10 breads we've tried. The lettuce was crispy and the tomatoes had a bite. The $20 sandwiches are a little sticker shocking considering there is no protein. Maybe the cheeses are made from nuts. I would definitely appreciate like a marinated tofu slice or even slab or tempeh with the existing dressings/sauces. The old sport had the chickpeas so we'll get that next time. My partner was obsessed with the walnut date syrup brownie.

The only thing I want to add is that on the menu board had a key for items, one being a * indicates the item contain nuts. Some of the bowls listed cashew chipotle sauce, but there was no * next to the item name. It's a quick fix to avoid any accidents :)

My girlfriend responded by saying they were able to do it last time so could you check. He looked fairly new and had trouble putting in my order in the register since I modified it by adding turkey. So he went to the back and just asked, do we do modifications? To which the guy in the back said no. She's vegan and that's all she can have off the menu so she ended up not getting anything and she was bummed since she really liked the sandwich they made last time. So we won't be coming back here and this place gets one star based on the customer service. It's a sandwich shop, if it's an extra charge to put a veggie wrap into a sandwich no problem. But the hard NO when it was made last time is PRETTY LAME for a sandwich shop not being able to make a veggie sandwich.

Perfect little patio for seating although we usually take it to go. Parking is almost always easy on Main st but I noticed they might have some parking in the hotel parking lot as well. Always friendly service and a nice ambience!

During the pandemic, Lady & Larder ventured into the sandwich game, and the result was a resounding success. Nowadays, the not-so-secret "Secret Lunch" lineup of gourmet sandwiches is among the best in Los Angeles. The tiny Santa Monica shop shares the block with a Sherwin-Williams and a boxing gym. Cross your fingers for metered street parking on the trafficky block of Pico. Outside, red metal patio furniture is shaded by the overhanging storefront. Natural light runs through multicolored windows to the shop within. The mosaic tiled floor is effortlessly chic. The soaring whitewashed walls are minimally decorated, while shelves and refrigerators are carefully curated with wines, cheeses, tinned fish, and candles. The tablet register is set up on a worn kitchen countertop. Soft, instrumental music immediately feels welcoming. I've visited multiple times for early weekend lunch, and our Toast pre-order was ready upon arrival. We grabbed a table outside, and numerous takeout customers popped in and out during our meal. My favorite was the Disco Only. This elevated turkey club featured an impressive depth of flavor, from the sharp alpine cheese to the rich garlic mayo to the tangy pepperoncini vinegar. The thick-cut Bub and Grandma's sesame bread held up admirably well, and the arugula added a welcome fresh factor. The proteins were plentiful but were outshone by the other components. I also loved the Hot Girl Salami. The sweet-and-hot mustard and crispy baguette accentuated the rich, almost buttery salami. Meanwhile, the Venice Cowgirl was like a cheeseboard on a baguette. The sweet peaches and apricot-habanero jam dominated the subtly rich cheese or thin prosciutto, but the sandwich nonetheless proved to be a unique, summery option worth sharing. Lastly, the Yes, Honey elevated the ham-and-cheese with tangy relish, but the other components felt standard and forgettable. The service was friendly and efficient, and sandwiches ran for $15-20 each. Overall, the food tasted like the Santa Monica Farmer's Market on a premium roll, with sandos ranging from good to excellent. They are worth a dedicated visit if you're in the neighborhood, and I can't wait to work my way through more of Lady & Larder's menu.

As for the food, we ordered the garlic knots, a croissant, the hanger steak, the peach and hot honey pizza, and the wood-fired vanilla bean pound cake for dessert. We covered a good amount of their key items. The main takeaway is that while everything is cooked well, but the dishes really lack flavor. I dine out to get flavors that are not easily made at home, and unfortunately, I did not find them here. The food lacks depth, and frankly, it needs salt to make it stand out. The pizza dough is actually really well prepped, easily as good as Pizzeria Sei, which is the best pizza place in LA, period. But again, it just lacks flavor. Also, as a small side note, there is a 4% employee health insurance surcharge added to the final bill. I probably just missed it listed on the menu somewhere, but oh well. Overall, it is a decent place, but I would not go out of my way to come back here.

Everything tasted comforting and well-balanced. Our server was also very thoughtful and friendly. He split the clam chowder into four smaller portions for our group, which made it much easier to share. One thing to note: the seafood market opens early, but the restaurant itself opens at 11 AM. I wanted a larger bowl and a place to sit down and eat it but the place was packed for lunch and I didnt feel like grabbing a spot at their bar as I needed to get back on the road, so just went with the small (and I am glad I did - read on to see why). They have a funny system here because you only order their menu items from a cashier in the back, but then take a number if you want fresh seafood. I wanted to try their Hawaiian style poke and cashier had me go and grab a number. I grabbed a number and it wasn't busy so I was served immediately. For a 1/4 lb of Hawaiian poke, it was about $9.50. Whats also strange is that I grabbed my soup (did not pay for it in the back), and my Hawaiian poke and then paid up front. Everything came close to $20. I sat in my car, (which thank goodness, this seafood market has its own parking lot, so that was greatly appreciated), and dug into my soup. Unfortunately, the soup was pretty bland and needed a bit more salt. But, I will say that the ingredients used in the fish chowder were all very fresh, and fish wasnt overcooked, but it needed to be seasoned more. Hawaiian poke was great, excellent taste. Overall, a so so experience, I would have liked better scenery to eat my food being I was very close to the beach and wished I had a more seasoned fish chowder. I could be convinced to come back and give it a second try, but I think I might prefer to visit Malibu Seafood which isnt too far from here and has great ocean views.

I'm a donut aficionado and have been coming here for a long time. Forget DKs, forget Sidecar, and for sure forget Dunkin' Donuts. If you want delicious, fresh, real donuts with creamy topping (not hard and sugary), come to Donut King. This place is a hidden donut gem! And you won't pay through the nose, or stand in a long line with the tragically hip. Their apple fritters are great too, not heavy grease-soaked sponges like DKs. read more
