I've been to many coffee cafes around the world and this one checks all the boxes. Cool and artsy inside and outside seating. Drip coffee served in a real mug. One free refill. No up charge for almond milk. Friendly staff and great tasting dark roast coffee. Fast wifi. Bathrooms were downstairs and were clean and takes you back to another era. Locally owned! All of the awesomely-stylish couches, chairs, and benches are blocked off, but hey everything's still great to look at. A very inviting venue. Wow! This coffee was absolutely amazing! Many of the coffee shops in Durango were closed on Sunday but this one was open bright and early and was the perfect stop before heading home. It is located right on the main drag. We easily found a parking spot right out front early in the morning. I hopped out ordered our coffees quickly and was back in my car within minutes. The staff were very friendly and efficient. They have great reassuring covid policies with staff and customers required to wear masks. Indoor dining is closed, but makes for ample space to socially distance while you order and get your coffee before enjoying it to go. Now for the mouthwatering coffee. I got my husband a large dark roast brew and I got myself a large decaf brewed coffee. Their milks are a little limited for the plant-based side, but we decided to try the hemp milk. It was really good and added the perfect amount of creaminess to the most delicious brewed coffee I have had in recent memory. I grabbed a couple sweeteners just in case and did not need them, it would have ruined the perfect coffee. It honestly was so delicious. I am pregnant and so have to mostly get decaf and most decaf is so disappointing and weak. This one was amazing with the perfect amount of body and bitterness. My husband's dark roast was also perfect and delicious! We cannot wait to get back to Durango, just for this coffee! There is plenty to like about the Durango Coffee Company (DCC) on Main Ave in historic downtown Durango. The coffee is very good and the atmosphere is typical of a local coffee hangout during the week and also serves as a tourist respite during the weekends. The coffee is robust and you can choose from hemp or cocunut for your milk alternatives. Plenty of tea as well including a delicious orange and cinnamon blend suitable for a wintry Monday morning. There are the usual breakfast pastries available including a perfectly dunkable biscotti for that delicious tea. The free wifi is good with plenty of laptops in use, likely college aged, however some business folks as well. The decor is Western chic with plenty of local art [expensive] diplayed gallery style on the walls, heavy wooden tables to work at, comfortable wooden mismatched chairs and tufted antique couches to crash on, and distressed hardwood floors in an updated historic building. DCC is quite busy any time of the day - even in Covid times. The masks are required to order and while up and about, but at the tables no one is wearing a mask. The social distancing is really not happening once inside, it is a risk for each individual to decide on their own. They have set up some temporary covered seating in the street in front of the store as an alternative. Stay safe, stay healthy, and wear your damn masks! Peace. read more

Durango is blessed with many good coffee shops. This one is one of my favorites. Located right on Main Avenue, Durango Coffee Company is perfect for grab and go and has a ton of comfy seating should you decide to stick around. It is one of the more comfortable coffee shops around town. When busy, it can be a little loud, but I think it's still a good place to get work done. The line moves very quickly. I think the coffee here is good, and I've visited dozens of times. The drip coffee isn't too dark. I usually get a latte here, and it may be the best one in town. Straight espresso is hit or miss - there are better options for that. They also have a lot of tea options, including some very good and original ideas. Food options are excellent, and range from the usual pastries and muffins to full-on sandwiches and salads. You could easily eat a full lunch here. What a wonderful coffee house in the historic district of Durango. The environment is so warm and inviting with its eclectic furniture and decor. But most important, the coffee is delicious and the pastries are, too. My wife and I both ordered different kinds of lattes, and we greatly enjoyed them both. We also tried a ginger cookie, and it was okay but tasted a bit like it had been sitting for awhile. The star of the show may have been the blueberry muffin, obtained from a local bakery. We liked our experience here so much, we came back on another day after dinner to try an affogato for dessert. Amazingly good. I liked it so well I scheduled an appointment with him at his studio and we are planning on ordering some prints when we get home. I love everything about how this place is decorated. Lots of cool little spots to sit and enjoy life. Aesthetic perfection, who even cares what the edibles are like? But in case you do, Second, eat all the muffins. The GF pumpkin muffin is allegedly made with non gluten flour but more likely witchcraft. That can be the only explanation of its moisture and tastiness content. Also, they have a small food menu that looks and smells stupendous. Next time. I was too full from all the muffins. The lemon coconut is also good as are oatmeal cookies. (Cookies are unfortunately *not* conducive to tmj sufferers, however.) Third, coffee. It's really pretty good. I love this coffee shop! I visited it for the first time in 6 years after coming here everyday to have the chai they offer. (I moved away and recently visited the area) some of the people who I meet years ago and even became friends with are still there and thriving with the company. Tori is amazing and so friendly! The store has done several remodels and rebrandings over the last decade but I have to say this is my favorite look that they have! I had a breakfast burrito from them.. and it was so good. The last time I went there it was a coffee/kitchenware shop but I'm really happy they changed that and kept it simple. It's a great place to sit and chat with some friends and just relax. While staying here in Durango we wanted to frequent a local coffee shop. A friend told us to try it here. When entering it had a very cool interior vibe of different furnitures and layout. Lots of reclaimed pieces which gave it a cool vibe and space to it. The coffee menu is robust with lots of blends from other countries that are ethically sourced. I had a latte that was tasty and a breakfast burrito. Both were prepared quickly with minimal issues. The second time coming back it was incredibly busy and the one server was rude. The other barista did apologize for how she was. We ended up grabbing breakfast and heading out. This place does get very busy. read more

Over the years, I've had several coffee drinks direct from their coffee shop, as well as many from local Bread bakery, all were acceptable and fine. However, urge to support local instead of usual Peets beans from the grocery store, upon their roast recommendation, I bought a $20.00 12oz bag of CDC whole bean espresso blend direct from the downtown coffee shop for my 10 year old daily use espresso machine. In one session I tried burr grinding 3 diffident levels, and never got a good shot, it's undrinkable, very bitter straight up espresso shot, and trying it as a latte and mocha was really odd tasting. there is no roast date or expiration date on their bags. That should have been my first clue. I took it back, next morning but they absolutely refused a refund. The staff said it was probably too fresh to let it sit for a couple of weeks which I vocally doubted but I tried and it's still undrinkable. I don't know what they sold me, but it's not what they're making their coffee with. Cute coffee shop downtown. I only ordered an Americano and it was good. My daughter ordered a chai and she didn't care for it, she said it was too spicy. Really disappointed in the service though. I don't think one of the girls smiled except when they were back behind the bar talking to each other. I asked for assistance selecting a bagged coffee to purchase, she recommended one that I didn't remember seeing, and when I asked where that one was she just said they're over there and pointed to the shelf of bagged coffees.
