Great food. It's definitely a bar so there's sometimes loud language, and the ambiance isn't great, but the food never disappoints.

We drove there special, based on YELP reviews. The sign in the window stated NO WEAPONS on the premises. We promptly left so I can't speak for the food but the business gets one star. We went to a Chinese restaurant where they had nothing to infringe on our 2A rights. read more

Went to Durango Grill tonight for dinner with another couple. So glad we did. It was a great time and even better food. Everything we had from appetizers to the main courses was delicious. I had the sirloin steak, it was perfectly cooked. The burgers and wings were also amazing. The staff was very attentive and made great recommendations. Love this place. The food is GREAT! Hamburgers and steaks are the best in town. Love the Fried Shrooms!!!! Can't go wrong off the menu. My friend loves the ribs. It is a bar as well and know that on the weekend you will have that atmoshpere. I have gone there on all types of occassion, for food, to drink, to play poker on Monday nights with its bar league. In the warmer months the outside seating is great to hang out and meet new people. LOVE THIS PLACE! As far as the one negative response. The WING ARE AWESOME. My friend and I first ate at Durango when it first opened five YEARS ago and agreed we should go back--we finally made the second visit this week! Shame on us. Initially we were not happy when we visited on Wednesday. We waited and waited---no one came. It wasn't until an apparent "regular" walked past to go out for a smoke and saw us that we were acknowledged--thanks to that kind customer. We were just about to walk out, but I'm so glad we didn't. Wednesday was wing night (50 cents per)---I love wings. Next time I'm going to try them hot. The mild was yummy, but I want to try something a bit spicier. The server (owner?) brought extra blue cheese dressing so we could share the wings and both have enough dressing! What I most appreciated was that the oil the wings were deep fried in was fresh. There was no taste of old oil--just fresh juicy goodness. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My friend had grilled chicken, green beans, and a side salad. I opted for the chicken strip salad. The greens were fresh and crisp. In fact, they were so good that when I had the leftovers on Thursday, the greens were still crisp! (We like chicken!) The visit gets even better. I enjoy a drink before dinner and ordered a top shelf brand. There isn't any other Fredericksburg destination that offers a premium drink at such a reasonable price (less than $4!!!). Wow! The only aspect of our visit that was a significant turn off was the noise level--two TV's, music, and loud patrons. Dinner conversation is an important part of a meal with a friend. But Durango is a neighborhood destination and friends tend to forget that not everyone around them is necessarily interested in what they have to say. We'll go earlier in the day next time to see if that makes a difference. Aside from the long wait for recognition--the reason for the four stars--we agreed to visit Durango again, but we're not going to wait for another five years to do so! We as a party of 7 wanted to do some outdoor seating tonight. At first look we could tell they were very short staffed and busy. While looking we noticed there was only one person working inside and 1 cook. I spoke to the gentleman Ryan that was working and he informed me he was by himself but he would be right with us. And he did exactly that within no time we had a drinks and shortly after had our food. Our food was still hot and very tasted. Six of us had refills on our drinks with no wait. I was highly disappointed by this restaurant. We went in on a Thursday afternoon they seemed to be very busy but it was just people smoking outside. They don't have many tables 4 or 5 maybe? We sat down and waited... and waited finally someone came out gave us the menu didn't offer any drinks or anything and said they would come right back and so we waited. It had been maybe 20 mins by this point everyone who sat at the bar was getting service right away. The atmosphere was very loud and obnoxious. It is in no shape or form a family place.... Is just a bar, In my opinion. Went to the bathroom and the door knob didn't worked, the mirror was broken, and it had multiple patches on the wall. I was very exited to try this restaurant which never happened because we waited for so long we left. Their menu look like your typical American restaurant which was another let down because the name "durango" gives it a Hispanic vibe. Which it isnt. And I was hoping for at least some type of tex mex type of thing but of course it wasn't. read more

Carry Out Review: Ate here a couple of times in the past few weeks and got hooked on the food, particularly their French Dip and Fried Mushrooms. Decided to grab these as part of a pick up order along with a Mushroom Swiss Burger for hubby. Ended up with 2 Bacon Cheese Burgers and about 8 fried mushrooms. Well, it's a bar. The food is acceptable for "bar food". The lunch specials are actually quite reasonable and my 6oz steak with two sides for $7.95 was cooked to order and I finished it. The cook brought it to my table, and I was grateful for the attention to detail in the presentation. It's always a good sign when the cook is confident enough to present his food in person. But the majority of lovely people who are here at lunch are not here for the lunch special. The bar was full at 12:30. Nice enough crowd, but just a little off putting for whatever reason. I will say the menu has a nice selection. I usually opt for grilled chicken salad, and even though it was available here, I could not pass up the steak on the lunch menu. There are two bar areas inside; one on the dinning side, one on the pool table side. There's also a few tables outside. And based on the cheerful hoops and hollers I can here walking to my car from the gym in the evening I'm assuming the bar serves alfresco. I would say this spot would be ideal for starting off a weekend, or putting a cap on one. I personally would not recommend it for a family outing, but that's just me. The people who work here seem very nice and I'm sure they would accommodate either way. read more

We stopped in for a few late night drinks while in town from Seattle and ended up having a great time. Our bartender was friendly and so were the other patrons - one even bought us shots! This place is in the old Ukrop's shopping center, and I haven't been in since it was the Big Burger Pub, but they've really done a lot with the place since. They've decorated things a lot more, added pool tables and TVs, and put tables outside. It also had a pretty good sized crowd there even at 3 on a Friday afternoon. Happy hour is really good here, got a Devils Backbone IPA for 2 bucks. Solid bacon cheeseburger and quesadilla for food. We will come back here again. read more

My husband and I went there for our date night recently and the food was great but the environment was lacking. The staff smelled drunk. And not in the "oops i spilled alcohol on me" type of way. They were blasting crappy 90s boy band music so loud we couldn't really even hear eachother talk. Much to our relief, there was a drunk couple that went between making out/groping, fighting and squirting condiments on eachother, to fill the entertainment void left by our lack of conversation. The place was just kind of trashy and people who seemed to have way too much to drink were leaving and driving home, causing us to feel unsafe even being on the road near there. If you're into bad music, people watching or maybe even live tweeting drunks making fools of themselves, this is probably the place for you. Otherwise I highly recommend carryout. However, when you call, if the person who takes your order tells you she doesn't have a pen on her but will remember what you order as long as it's not too long, politely ask her to grab one. You'll probably get home and realize your order is incorrect. Their wings are great and they make amazing quesadillas. They're just better as carry out in my opinion. read more

Overall I like this bar and grille. Its not too small. Burgers are good. Food is priced reasonably. Service is fast. Most customers are frequent visitors. Nice place to watch football. Just like any bar they have sunday football beer and food specials. This place best suits people who would like to get out for a while and enjoy a meal with a cold beer. This place is the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu- the T-bone, and my wife ordered a lesser quality steak. Both were obviously frozen by the graininess in the meat when it was served. As I started getting closer to the bone with my steak, I noticed a foul taste and smell. It was rotten meat. I immediately stopped eating. I am not one to complain, so we both said that we were finished with our half eaten meals and left. I was sick for the next two days. Do not eat here, ever. read more

It's a neighborhood bar and grill and that's what you get. I've gone in wearing a suit and tie and blue jeans and a t shirt - felt comfortable either way. Food is is very good and fairly priced. I have three young boys and was very comfortable taking them there in part because the folks who work there are fantastic. Beer is cold and drinks well made. If you want a quick drink after work or to kill some time on a weekend in front of football or baseball game you can't go wrong. By the way great made to order doughnuts in the mornings. read more

Just went there this evening for dinner with a group of 7 adults, 3 boys ages 11 thru 17, and 2 2 year olds. It was a very good and happy experience. The waitress was wonderful. When we ask about gluten free foods, she ask the owner/chef and he came out and talked to us. Warm and friendly atmosphere and even warmer staff. We all left full, happy, and completely satisfied. The food was really good. And I can tell you the mashed potatoes tasted great. I will go back for sure. read more

Deceptive pictures for this BAR!!! The reality is that there's a few skinny benches against one wall with the bar taking up the rest of this hole-in-a-wall. There's a side room. I thought maybe that's where the food may be served. No luck - it only had a pool table. We went there on a Friday at 6pm. It was a real mistake - smoke, booze smell and noise so we left. The bar was 2-3 people deep and there wasn't a diner in the place. We thought OK maybe a Saturday at 5pm would be better - NOT!!! Again there was no one eating and the bar was now 1-2 people deep. There was less smoke, less noise and less alcohol smell. Someone working the bar looked our way and that was it. No direction, no wait staff attention no nothing. Does this place even serve food? I guess the food is good the reviews say so by many both on Yelp and Restaurant.com The people, who were drinking outside said the food was good. We didn't stay this time either. Got this place through Yelp and Restaurant.com. I returned the Restaurant.com coupon. Please change the name of this place to Durango BAR forget the grill and oh yeah! add "no children please". read more
