Tried Dutch Bros for the first time on my birthday last month, and I already get the hype. Through their app, I got a free birthday drink (such a nice perk!), and since there aren't any locations where I live, I knew I had to finally give it a shot while visiting family in Bakersfield. I checked out their best sellers and went with the Golden Eagle--no modifications, just as is. As someone who isn't a huge coffee person, I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was smooth, sweet, and really easy to drink. I'd definitely order it again. My younger sisters are obsessed with the Golden Eagle Chai Breve, it's their go-to every time. I only went through the drive-thru, but the service was quick, friendly, and super efficient, which I always appreciate. Next time, I'd love to branch out and try something new. I noticed they have energy refreshers, which feel a little more my vibe, so I'm excited to come back and explore more of the menu. Overall, a really solid first experience. I have been a fan of Dutch Bros for several decades...They originated in Oregon and I always loved getting coffee here when visiting my hubby's family. So happy they are making their way to California. However, this Coffee Queen doesn't have one near her, so I hit this one up whenever I am in Bakersfield. I can never turn down Dutch Bros when they're nearby. This location had a large drive-thru and walk-in space as well. When we pulled up, the line was crazy long, but staff taking orders moved everyone quickly. I would say we were in and out in less than 5 minutes. For how long the line was, I expected to be sitting there for 20. Everything else is standard Dutch Bros ftom what I could tell. I usually order a cold brew since those are loaded with sugar. The young gentleman that took my order was very friendly a great customer service I highly recommend more people let that work here. I don't understand why they have poor reviews. He was very nice. I asked him what he recommended and he recommended the drink that I bought and it's delicious. The girl at the window was super friendly young African-American woman. I'm not a Dutch Bros or Starbucks person... matter of fact, I'm a "make my own coffee at home person"; however, when Dutch Bro's first opened in Bakersfield, we visited a lot because I wanted to try EVERYTHING! The lines are crazy and always super long, so if I've learned something from my husband.... I advise that you order ahead on the app so you can get your points and you can avoid the crazy long lines. Plus as a perk, you'll get your free drink on your birthday so make sure to get the app! I don't have a favorite drink, and I don't know what to order here, but I always try to switch it up with the coffees. My husband always gets the energizers and one of my sons gets the sodas at times. I've only had their hot coffees a few times, but I think they only serve their coffees best when it's frozen. Which brings me to my thoughts that Dutch Bros is not really a cafe or coffee house. If you're planning to drink here, be prepared for the house music that's blasting. Sometimes the employees can't even hear. I'm all for the loud music and they even play good jams from the 90s once in a great while, but if the employees can't hear then maybe it's time to turn it down a notch. read more

Ordered a Golden Eagle with an extra shot but was a little disappointed. The coffee was water downed and even though there was an extra shot, the coffee wasn't strong. I've been to so many Dutch Bros but this one by far is my least favorite. The pickup window is also not the traditional one - you actually have to walk in the facility to pick up your drinks. I'm not sure if one of the girls still works there currently and the other is a younger gentleman, Hispanic, very charismatic. Finally got to visit the Dutch Bros with inside sitting! It was very open, felt like a garage but it kind of fit the aesthetic they were going for. I do wish the counter you order drinks at were bigger but that's just my opinion. The drinks came really quick after ordering and the size still haven't change since I last time I got Dutch (years ago) so that made me very happy! My normal Dutch location is the Calloway location, and I always have the best customer service but yesterday 03/22 I decided to go to the California location, and I had the worst service ever. To start off she greeted us at the window with an attitude and repeated our drinks. After she handed us our first drink and we noticed it was wrong, we then let her know and she stated rudely, "I REPEATED YOUR ORDER, IS THIS NOT YOUR ORDER?!" We even apologized and when we did, she walked away not even letting us finish our sentence, she then started to scream at the team while having the drive thru window open, she handed us our drinks rudely after, we were shocked. The second bad experience was at this same location. they charged me a dollar extra without letting me know because I had asked for easy ice and it wasn't until I got to the window that I was told. I checked on the app and there is absolutely no charge difference for easy ice. This is completely upsetting. I rather not go to this location anymore. read more

Waited almost an hour in the drive thru for coffee. We ordered the annihilator (cold brew with macadamia milk). It was great. But not amazing. Something I can get at any other coffee shops. I didn't need to stay in line for an hour. I also felt very bad for the employees that stayed in the 111 degree weather taking our orders. The cue for the line is a cluster f*ck. Dutch bros has been in town for some time now, I have heard mixed reviews so I decided to try it out for myself. The vibe is laid back, "cool", kind of beach bum-ish. The different coffee drinks I have tried are: caramelizer, cocomo, and golden eagle. In my opinion, they have all been way too sweet. I do like the fact that you can order them decaf style. What I don't are the fake interactions that employees have with you while you're waiting at the drive thru-it feels like they're from a script, they always ask "what do you have going on today?"and random idle chat questions-this has happened each and every time. maybe I'm grumpy but it just feels forced. I also don't really care for them asking if you want to leave a tip. They preface this by asking "this is totally optional, but..." lastly, the drive thru during busy times is absolutely ridiculous, 45 min to an hour wait is just not worth it. Everyone was very kind and definitely went above and beyond to give us the perfect first welcoming experience. First time I had Dutch Bros, I thought that it was definitely better than Starbucks. Their coffee is stronger and more flavorful than SB, which is sometimes a hit and miss. The lines are my only issue because I haven't been there with less than a 15-minute wait. Being able to order through an app might help with this but I guess, until then, it's going to be coffee only on days that I'm not in a rush, which are very rare. The crew who take orders are wonderful though. We were short a dollar from my daughter's gift card and we were prepared to pay for it but the guy who took our order just gave us a discount and took care of it. Their customer service is always on point! Now let's address the elephant in the room. THE LINES!!
