On a recent morning visit I had the Breakfast Bagel with bacon (on a jalapeño bagel) and an iced coffee. They serve Pete's Coffee and it was great. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good. Plenty of bacon, which was chopped small and piled on the egg. I didn't really love the jalapeño bagel, so next time I would just order an everything bagel or something more classic. Overall it's a good breakfast sandwich though. They have a fairly large breakfast menu with multiple options (sandwiches and more). In terms of savory breakfast choices they have more variety than most other coffeeshop/order-at-the-counter places I've been too in Bakersfield (which seem to mostly just offer sweets). Another nice thing about going here for breakfast is that there seems to be plenty of seating. Even though it was very busy, it seemed like most people were taking food to go. I had my choice of a table inside or one on the patio. I sat outside in the shade on a cool morning and it was nice. The biggest downside is that they are not very fast, especially when it gets busy. There was a pretty long wait, both before and after ordering. Overall Bagels & Blenderz is a solid place to get a breakfast sandwich and a coffee, so long as you're not in a hurry. On other occasions I have just stopped in to pick up some bagels and cream cheese to go, and that tends to be faster (and their classic bagel flavors are solid). Every time I go to B&B I wonder why I do not go more often. My daughter & I popped in on a Saturday around 8:30am, and it was packed and buzzing, but we were able to get our order in without too much of a wait. While I was in line I eyed what I thought to be a slice of yellow cake loaf. It was labeled lemon, so I took the chance they mislabeled it and was right. Yay! I purchased a dozen bagels and container of thumbprint cookies. Parking is a challenge due to several restaurants in the area and bc I went around lunch time. A New York-style bagel is a dense, chewy, and glossy bagel known for its distinct malty flavor, achieved by boiling in water with barley malt before baking. Key characteristics include a shiny, crisp crust and a soft, chewy interior. Bagel and Blenderz bagels: 2/10, no "chew" very dense and I can smell the yeast, definitely not a traditional bagel. Heck Panera has better bagels. These are more like very dense bread masquerading as bagels. I'm beyond disappointed. Additionally, no one in my house liked them. I don't recommend the bagels. Thumbprint cookies, I had high hopes for these, but they are rock hard. I expected a nice flaky cookie, similar to the thumbprint cookies from Smith Bakery. Don't think about coming here for a quick smoothie on your lunch break. The food is good and normally I don't have to wait so long. But the most I've waited was 20 minutes. Today I waited about 45 minutes for a smoothie and the pastry I was able to get instantly but 45 minutes for a smoothie is ridiculous. There were customer that ordered coffee and bagels and such and got their food before me. When I asked about my drink, they said they were still working on it. Never coming back here again and the line was out the door, so I couldn't even get in line to get my money back. I had a hot coffee which i do have to say was nothing special my wife got an iced coffee which she said she enjoyed. So I've been coming to this place for sometime now and every thing is always good but the last few times I've noticed that they have been skimping on the meat in the breakfast sandwiches. I don't mind when they raise the price due to rising cost but when you raise prices and start shortening on the product that's a bit much. I come here every once in a while because the Chinese chicken salad is sooo good! I also really enjoy their peanut butter bagel. I usually get my food to go, but I decided to dine in today. It took me a while to put my finger on what felt odd about the atmosphere. There is no music, which I think would make it a little more comfortable.
