Visited Dutch's while visiting the lake for the first time. Ambiance was great, service with Cody was excellent and the food was outstanding!!! It's kind of a throwback steak and seafood place - think "1970s Heineken beer commercial" but on the lake. The portions, to be frank, are kind of insultingly generous. The "lighter portions" menu is what most restaurants would call "entrees" and the entrees are what those skinny Europeans think we Americans eat, with all their judgment and low cholesterol and ability to speak three languages. Definitely can recommend the salmon and the beef medallions. The roasted veggies are also really good; carrots and broccoli and cauliflower with some Brussels sprouts tossed in. Service and management are both friendly and on-the-spot; they got one of our orders wrong, immediately spotted and fixed it, and then PACKAGED THE MISTAKEN FOOD TO GO with an extra side an everything. This place was not great...we booked a reservation based on a recommendation from a friend that lives locally. The service was slow, for a $300 meal I would have expected so much more. Our reservation was for 7:45 ( only a party of 5). We were seated by 8, and our waitress came to our table maybe 20 min later and took our drink order and dinner order in the same stop...which seemed so abrupt. Our food was served by 9:30 and was subpar. A table beside us was cleared but the heaping pile of garbage was left ten inches from us throughout our meal. Overall very disappointing. I'm not sure what would have happened if we were a large party! Definitely an overrated local stop. read more

Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing space... unless you want a calm nice... relaxing environment. This circus is annnnyyyyything but a calm relaxing night out. Perhaps you need to eat inside if you're looking for a lovely date night. Maybe you have to go on a Monday evening??? Who knows. But heaven forbid you try and attend on a weekend and sit on the deck. Get ready for kids being injured. Parents screaming at lost children. Dogs barking at every movement in a 10 yard radius. I couldn't tell if there were more dogs than kids or the opposite. It was mayhem, total mayhem. The servers were getting run into by kids misbehaving. The parents are so drunk and checked out, they lose track of which child is even theirs. Nobody is paying any attention to the kids getting constantly injured on the giant jungle gym located 3 feet from the deck. I'm shocked there aren't any law suits. Worth going to Deep Creek just for their food and wonderful atmosphere. We had a pre Thanksgiving family get together here. Candace was our waitress and she was phenomenal. We had a wonderful lunch here today. Easy to dock the boat. Beautiful grounds. The staff at the host stand was a little less than welcoming but after that everything was perfect. Our waitress was very informative and friendly. All the food was great but the standout was the hot and spicy shrimp and the fresh baked bread. Wow! Dutch's at Silver Tree is a must whenever you visit Deep Creek Lake in Maryland! They're one of the few restaurants that actually care about the quality of the ingredients for each dish. I highly recommend ordering anything with crab. They specialize in their crab dishes by using real fresh crab unlike other restaurants I've been too. The crab dip is unlike any others! You can see the crab meat within the dip mixed with a medley of gooey cheeses and it's always served with fresh baked garlic bread. The crab cakes are also a staple in their menu. Theirs is truly a crab cake that overloads with fresh crab meat! All the flavors in the crab cake emphasize the crab and it's very delicious. It comes out straight out the oven too! I ordered the fried oyster sandwhich and it's so good! It was perfectly fried and the oyster wasn't over cooked on the inside. When you go the Dutch's, you're getting quality food. My grandmother says "It's the only decent restaurant in town" and she's been going for ages lol read more

Dutch's is right near Deep Creek, MD and is accessible by boat. The docks are pretty well maintained, and easy to dock compared to other restaurants like the HH that there are 10,000 boats coming in and out during the day. There is outside seating, which was nice because my dog was able to join us. The servers were so sweet to him, and brought him a water dish. There is also a "pup bar" that had water, treats, trash bags, etc. We actually went here twice during our trip. Once for Dinner, and once for lunch - we have also been here in years past (It's just super good) They have great seafood specials (the crabcakes were some of the best I've ever had) Menu items are a little high priced, and especially for the wine. Our bottle was upwards of $55 and had a screw top... not the best! Also, during our lunch I ordered a pizza with "light,hardly any" cheese, and it came out with extra cheese. The waiter acted surprised when I asked for another - but he brought us one, and let us keep the first pizza which was shared with the table. read more

We started with the fried Mozzarella... the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. Then came more goodness. Fresh baked bread with cinnamon-sugar butter, fresh oysters, Maryland crab, lobster, scallops and shrimp, and creme brûlée'. It was all so so good. This is a must go to restaurant. We love Dutch's. Also, our server's name was "Funk." He was a great person... friendly, helpful, and quick. Stopped here on a planned meal after a game up at the Lake. I had friends who went here with their families and had talked it up over and over, and really wanted to go- but never made the commitment. Place inside is very nice, big tables with glassware and fancy tablecloths. Big backed chairs that are comfortable and just a dimly lit area for intimate dining. Wait staff is very attentive- and it's obvious why this spot is so highly touted in the lake community. Came in on an early Saturday eve for some dinner. We ordered a crab dip for an appetizer, and some entrees. Waiter was really nice, a little odd, but nice. It felt like we were the only two in the building - because we were, but sitting by the big windows looking out at the water and trees As far as the crab dip - it was very good. Real lump crab, plenty of crostini to dip with, and the quality was high-end. For an entree, I ordered a steak and it came with a baked potato. Steak was prepared properly- medium to the touch. The meal as a whole was done very well, very good and the presentation and preparation of the food was thorough! Ordered a dessert which was very good as well. Will be back! Loved it here! read more

So I've been to the Dutch's daughter in Frederick a few times and I've gotta say the two restaurants are identical food wise, the way they cook the crab cakes and also the jumbo shrimp, I was however a little disappointed that you can't order fries at the silver tree location but you are able to order fries at the Frederick location, that was a little disappointing to me but I still have 5stars because the food is just absolutely fantastic all around. I enjoyed the jumbo shrimp as well as the crab cake. Very good. read more

My family has been coming to Dutch's for the past decade whenever we are staying at Deep Creek Lake. We are incredibly disappointed in the diminished quality of the food and massive increase in prices that has occurred in the past year. We used to be able to dine as a family of 4 for around $120 including appetizers, and the food was much better than it is now. Don't bother trying to find an entree on the menu for under $30. Seafood will run you $50+ and steak will run you $70. The kitchen has increased portion sizes, but that does not help anything when the food is greasy and mediocre. We ordered the chicken parmesan and we received 5 lukewarm breaded chicken tenders over pasta. The spinach dip was all cheese and no spinach. The one redeeming dish was the crab dip, and even so, the price has risen and the amount of crab in the dish has decreased. I'm sad to say that Dutch's has become another tourist trap on the lake. Avoid it if you're looking for a high quality meal at reasonable prices. read more

The quality of the food and service of this place has plummeted over the last year. The quality used to be great. The prices were always a little high, but you are paying for ambiance and fact that it had good food that was not easy to get in the DCL area. If I could give the place 0 stars, then I would. It took over 30 minutes to get our drink orders and then another 20 minutes to get the drinks (soda and draft beer, nothing complicated). We actually contemplated heading to Uno down the road to pick up some take and bake pizzas, but chose not to since we knew that it would delay us even more and it was getting late. We finally ordered our food and it took a considerable time to get it and then the appetizers, salad and entrees all came out within 5 minutes of each other. All of the steaks were well done even though they were ordered to be medium rare. We told the waiter and his first response in a terse manner was "I will just get the manager". The waiter was unapologetic throughout the whole meal and I honestly believe it was because he was overworked and not truly a jerk. Regardless, it doesn't reflect well on the restaurant as he is the face of the place for our meal. The manager did take a percentage off the bill, but the fact that we still paid many hundreds of dollars for a subpar meal is offensive. If you are paying 80 dollars per person for a surf and turf or good cut of meat, then there is an expectation that it is cooked perfectly and that exceptional service accompanies it. The fact that they messed up three orders of steak demonstrates it was not just a bad part of heat on the grill and that it was a bad kitchen. Mistakes happen and I understand that staff are hard to come by these days, but then don't seat the whole restaurant or reduce your prices to make them aligned to the quality of food and type of service you are going to provide, which unfortunately would be $0. read more

My husband and I had a nice lunch outside at Dutch's and came back with family a couple of evenings later. I ordered the seafood salad on Caesar salad for lunch and it was delicious. I love their orange crush cocktail. It is clearly a double and has fresh squeezed orange juice. The second time we came back, we brought my family including kids. They have a nice playground set-up, which is nice for young children. I ordered the crab cake with crab imperial and it was awesome. We walked through the interior and it seems a bit stuffy for a lake destination, so I would recommend eating outside if the weather allows. This place is pricey but worth the money. read more

I have to confess that I walked in with a chip on my shoulder after reviewing the current menu and recent reviews regarding the astronomic price for the quality of the food delivered. My parents chose this restaurant to commemorate their 50th anniversary, so I was very anxious about wanting everything to be perfect. After a rough start (no hard cider at the bar- again- I DID have an attitude walking in). The waitress did not seem to exude the confidence one would expect at a fine dining restaurant that charges the amounts they do. However, my chip eroded away once the service began. Our part of 11 ordered without abandon, so a large number of menu items were tested- all with excellent results. Our appetizers Included fried calamari, ahi tuna, shrimp cocktail, Maryland crap soup, and the crab dip. The crab dip and ahi tuna were the most well received. I ordered the crab dip, and it was my bite of that dip that eradicated my initial attitude. The crab meat was plentiful and it delivered a slight spicy after tingle that will always keep me dipping back. Being a dip (the appetizer- not me), I shared with anyone interested. The dip is served with toast points and nacho chips. Both were very suitable vessels. I DID notice the plate began to migrate toward my sister's seat- but sharing IS caring. Everyone enjoyed the apps, and they were all consumed. Salads were next- and it should be noted that all dressings are made in house. Blue cheese and ranch were the favorites- but that isn't anything new. I LOVE when hard boiled eggs are included (especially with shredded cheese - does that make me basic??)- so between the crisp lettuce, the egg and the creamy, tangy blue cheese- I REALLY enjoyed the salad. Our entrees included the lobster tail and crab cake, the rib eye, the haddock, salmon (lighter fare), beef medallions (lighter fare- and order win of the night- basically filets- cooked to perfection), crab sauté, and filet with crab cake. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much. And our waitress was very accommodating with my neurotic packing up of uneaten food. I know some may think this gauche, but at this price point- I want the opportunity to enjoy everything. I knocked off one star for the lack of specials and the outrageous prices (for SOME menu items- the pricing is just odd to me- and still too slightly elevated - but everything is odd post- covid). 5 stars alone for the fact that they have a play structure for kids! We came in looking for lunch during a day out on the boat. We sat out on their lovely deck with a great view of the lake. So great that the kids could burn off some energy while waiting for the food to come. Great menu and the food was wonderful. Really good shrimp tacos and oysters. The crab cake sandwich was a standout. Our server was very attentive and kept everyone happy with drinks. Enjoyed a dozen Blue Point oysters complete with some fresh horseradish. Our son enjoyed the calamari which had an especially good batter, cooked to be tender and delicious sauce. We had various seafood dishes, great, generous crab cakes, lobster tails, crab imperial and fried oysters. All were very good. Service was 'on point'-- prompt, friendly and accommodating to requests for additional condiments. Joel, our server, did an excellent job, We love the cozy feel of Dutch's, whether eating in the section with the 'warm' fireplace and 'log cabin' feel or gazing out at Deep Creek Lake. This was a very expensive restaurant. The decor is charming, with lots of wood and stone. Everyone in my party got the Friday night seafood buffet. I can't eat cream, so the crab bisque was off the table. Also, I'm allergic to shrimp, so a few more items were a no go. The Maryland crab soup was flavorful, but it desperately needs some chunks af actual crab meat. My favorite dish was the Dutch's chicken with bacon and asparagus in a creamy sauce. It was delicious. The chocolate covered strawberries were a great dessert option. The buffet had a very disappointing salad selection. The tomato, cucumber, and onion salad was nice. The service was average, although they were crazy busy on Friday night, even in the off season. If I go again, I'll just order the Dutch's Cicken entree ($26), as opposed to the buffet ($40). read more
