Have been to Dutch's numerous times and this is first time I was not happy. Cream of crab soup was very salty but crab cake sandwich was good. However the service was slow and considering it was Tuesday night before thanksgiving, it was not crowded. But maybe that's why it wasn't my normal experience. read more

our favorite upscale place. we have a standing weekly reservation where we meet freinds all the time. w ehavebben going here since they opned. the owner is on site and runs a tight ship with very well trained staff that knows what good service is. the food quality is the best from seafood to great steaks, fish and chicken. they have an extensive and great wine and liquior list and great cocktails and bartenders. Exnsive yes but worth every penny for proff just see how packed it is almost every day. it isa beauitful restaurant and decorated warmly for your pleasure. Five stars shoul dbe ten! read more

Beyond compare. I've been a long time customer from their original location to the current location on Himes. I no longer live in the area so opportunity hasn't presented itself to stay a regular customer, but so happy nothing has changed. My biggest factor is CONSISTENCY & QUALITY with excellent customer service and ALL 3 points were exceeded. For being away probably 7 years that speaks volumes. I don't have pics of all the spectacular foods presented as I normally post because lighting and being part of a larger group was not conducive to photography. However, all the dishes brought out were loved by all and everyone's special requests were met. Nothing was left on the plates. I personally had my favorite Crab Saute which is simply lump crab meat with side of drawn butter along with a delicious sweet potato served with a cinnamon brown sugar side and a Caesar salad. I enjoyed every bite of the large Crab meat morsels that I didn't even have to pick. My husband had two very generous crab cakes which he said were nicely seasoned with a creamy mustard base and absolutely NO fillers. My tablemates ordered Salmon, lobster tails, potato soup, french onion soup & cream of crab soup which all were thoroughly enjoyed. Dessert was lemon chiffon pie that was smooth, creamy & just enough tartness to the lemon. Ice cream is described as the best around! We were never rushed to leave on what was a very busy Saturday night. I'm glad I don't live closer as my waistline would be growing & my wallet would be shrinking. read more

We had reservations at 5 pm for a party of four on New Year's Eve. We were seated right on time. The place was packed. Shatara S. was our waitress. Three of us had crab cakes and one had a New York Strip. The service and food was excellent. I usually go there for lunch every other month and dinner for special occasions. This restaurant truly knows the definition of customer service. I have some severe food allergies and they bent over backwards to accommodate them. I can't appreciate that enough given how busy they are and the food is delicious. This is my third time eating here and I had the pineapple chicken, which was yummy. The salads are really fresh and delicious the au gratin potatoes are truly cheesy enough for a cheese-acholic like me! Dutch's is usually great for a normal meal or for their Sunday brunches. This is a review on their misery of a pre-order Thanksgiving spread.  So, because we're lazy and unmotivated but yet also very hungry, we decided to order Thanksgiving dinner again this year. We were excited to see that Dutch's was offering the service because (as mentioned earlier) we've always had good experiences with them. The dinner included:  Turkey - All white meat, which I guess some people enjoy, but I would've liked to have some dark meat. Very bland and already doused with gravy.  Baked ham - We were expecting spiral sliced. We got thinly sliced deli honey ham. Dressing - This was the most disappointing part of dinner. Their dressing appeared to be just chunks of their bread with some butter and stock thrown in. Nothing else in it and highly underseasoned.  Mashed potatoes - Meh. Crab dip - This is actually my least favorite dish on Dutch's buffet. It's oddly sweet. Gravy - It was okay. They gave us a ton of it, probably hoping we'd douse the rest of the food with it so we wouldn't notice how sucky everything was. Sweet potato rounds with marshmallows - This was actually good. Sweet and citrusy. Sauerkraut - I won't touch sauerkraut with a 10 ft pole and still can't wrap my head around why it's a holiday tradition in MD. Green bean casserole (which ended up being substituted with roasted veggies) - Don't lie, Dutch's. We know those veggies were steamed.  Pumpkin pie - Aight. The positive aspect was that there was a ton of food. We ordered dinner for 6 but, thanks to COVID, polishing it off will be up to just the two of us. The quality, however, was lacking. There was nothing special, nothing unique, about any of the dishes. This was stuff you'd find at a cafeteria, not from such a highly rated restaurant. Totally not worth the $290 (including tip) we paid for it. Next year, we'll probably go back to Whole Foods. Picking up their dinner is like running a gauntlet and battling throngs of people in North Face jackets, but at least they make interesting dishes. read more

This place is great! The ambiance and overall vibe is kinda fancy dinner date spot. They have a "dungeon" that had more of a bar feel but it was fairly loud so we opted for the dining hall upstairs. If you go anywhere in Frederick, then you know all about DD's crab cakes and how they're world famous. Knowing that I decided to finally give them a try, they work delicious to say the least but I wish it had a little more seasoning. They're slightly on the smaller size but the portion is adequate. It's one of the best crab cakes I've had in Maryland but in my opinion it's not better than Fratelli's (which are larger and a little more flavorful). All in all, I enjoyed my lunch and definitely will be returning...mainly for those sweet potato muffins! read more

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Friday night in late June. We sat inside as it was a bit humid outside (we had originally planned for the patio). The place is very large and there were 3 rehearsal dinners happening in the various banquet rooms. The bartender was busy but nonetheless managed to handle the guests. Sefton was our server and he was amazing. He paced the meal perfectly, was knowledgeable, and friendly. He had a very pleasant demeanor as we enjoyed a rare meal without our kids. We over-ordered as per usual. We got the spinach dip (flavorful and filling), pepper jack cheese bites (a unique twist instead of mozzarella cheese), the filet mignon (high quality cooked to my husband's liking), the mini crab cakes (lump meat and delicious), and the twin lobster tails. I got a summery pineapple upside down cake martini which brought me back to my youth taking shots of these. Sugary but I enjoyed it. I felt uncomfortably full after. I would definitely go back and try different dishes. The vibe is relaxed, with quality food and no pretentiousness. The service was perfect. Bill was $ 214 before tip. Plenty of parking and not too far from us in Howard County. Frederick has options without having to deal with DC or Baltimore traffic which I enjoy. read more

We visited for a birthday celebration, mid week. Reservation for 5 in the Dungeon next to the fire place. Service was top notch. Very attentive. The food met all the various pallets needs and once arrived everything was delicious. Ambiance was very quaint next to the fireplace with our crowd... I go to a lot of restaurants in the DMV area and this is my hands down favorite. I'm a steak and crab kinda guy and you will not get any better in the area. Unlike a lot of high-end steak houses they actually still include a salad and side with your meal. The crab bread appetizer is amazing. Pretty much anything with crab is off the charts. The crab cakes and crab imperial are delicious, the cheesecake is also delicious. It's a large place with outdoor seating and a full bar area. The servers are awesome. On my second trip my server remembered me and my order as he was my server on the first visit. I also like that it's more casual to business casual. Absolute 5 star. read more

First time at Dutch's Daughter & I will be back to indulge in more! Prices are expensive but the quality of the food was very good. Personally they could shave a few dollars off but I digress. My family & I had Calamari, Crab Dip w/ Bread, Hot and spicy shrimp, king salmon I believe, crab cakes, scallops and everything came with salads. The bread they served was delicious and warm and they provided honey butter along with regular butter which is a fave of mine. The seafood had a very fresh taste too it and that was a highlight for me! I wish I took pictures to show how delicious it all was but believe me, any pictures you may find online does it justice. We went here 2 nights ago with 11 people for a birthday party. I had reserved the table and even called back a day later to verify the reservation. (Everything was done via the phone, so no email confirmation.). We we got there, we were told that the reservation was 30 minutes later than I was told. So we waited. 45 minutes later we were at still waiting, with 11 people. Finally a table. To make a long story short, then it took 3 hours to eat dinner! OMG. The group was at wits end by the time we left. It was obvious that we were shoe-horned in for the evening and it was a terrible experience. Most in the group agreed that they would never come back. In order to be fair I want to see that our server worked very hard, he just had too many tables to take care. The management gave us four $25 gift cards to say sorry (the total bill was over $1,100), but that didn't really cover the frustration and ruined event. The food is good and the server tried hard. Blown away! My family and I are on vacation visiting a few East coast cities and parts of Canada. On our trip back into the U.S., we stopped to stay the night in Frederick, MD with family who wanted to surprise us with a relaxing and enjoyable dinner! Dutch's Daughter is her favorite place to bring guests and her number one choice when dining out locally. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinner! We started with appetizers of oysters and an asparagus and crab dip. The oysters were delicious and I wouldn't know how the crab dip tasted as it was all gone, my children devoured it! The plate looked as if my dog licked it clean before I had a chance to try it! My daughter and I shared the Dutch's Seafood platter which came with a caesar salad, lobster tail, two small crabcakes, crab imperial, scallops, large shrimps and your choice of vegetable, baked potato, twice baked or sweet potato! We ordered the baked potato. Our meal was delectable and the perfect amount for our appetites. What I enjoyed most about this platter is that there were not too many extra sauces or spices to take away from the natural flavor of the seafood and everything tasted freshly prepared. My son ordered the filet mignon and a lobster tail which he really enjoyed , he cleaned the plate! The other notable dish was the chicken parmigiana, it was delicious and HUGE! If you like leftovers clap your hands now and if you have a raging appetite, say Amen! Finally, you have room for dessert or if you're like my family get extra forks because the blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and the lemon chiffon pie are outstanding! We were hoping to try the raisin bread pudding but it had sold out. Being from a town that exists because of entertainment and service, we are accustomed to a very high level of service. Alex, was our waiter and he did not disappoint!! Server's like him with a human quotient, ability to make it right, great personality and eye for detail and customer satisfaction are rare and he is a keeper! Thank you sir!
