I am extremely glad I did today and can't wait to come back again. I understand it is an oyster house, but it is in Carrollton which is not near a large body of water. That being said, I was extraordinarily surprised at how fresh and delicious the raw oysters were and I feel the price is quite fair. Today I enjoyed the Tulane Avenue Shrimp as my entrée from the appetizers menu. The shrimp were tender and I loved all of the flavor. The little crusty pieces of bread that came with it were perfect for soaking up the sauce. It was a very large appetizer. I also had a cup of the gumbo that came with some garlic bread. The gumbo for me was just OK. I enjoyed it and liked the flavor, but it felt more like a savory stew to me than a gumbo. The service was good and friendly. I completely understand the aesthetic inside; however, the wooden benches are not very comfortable. That's just a minor preference for me. Overall this place is a hidden gem.

But the reason I hesitate to go back is the loud boisterous music! I could not eat in peace! But I have to say on both occasions the wait staff was as nice and welcoming as could be.

The interior layout is booths along the left wall, tables in the middle, and a long bar down the right wall. There appeared to be a large brick pizza oven towards the back also. It was not overly busy when we were there, so there were only 2 servers handling tables and the bar. A few booths had patrons and there was 1 or 2 people at the bar. Service was good. The menu had a decent variety - salads, pastas, pizzas. I don't recall if there were other items. My wife got some sort of pasta dish that wasn't what she expected but she liked it. I also got a pasta dish - angel hair pomodoro. I thought this would be angel hair pasta with the 'pomodoro' in the form of a red sauce. The pasta was there, but the tomatoes were finely diced along with some onions and greens. It was different, but fine. I finished it. So don't be surprised with variants from 'standard' presentations, but the food is good. They appeared to have a full bar and a decent wine / beer selection, but we skipped that this time. We also skipped dessert. If I'm back in Carrolton, I'd consider stopping in again.

And thankfully everybody already knew what we wanted to order so we went ahead and ordered at the same time. We ordered fried pickles. They are the absolute worst fried pickles I've ever had. You could not even taste a pickle flavor. They were so thin that the batter dehydrated them. No flavor at all other than salt. Then came the extremely long wait for our food. Looking around the room everyone was having to wait and extremely long wait for their food. As people that were seated before us still had no food. When our food arrived, all of the adult meals came out but the two kids meals which were just hamburgers and fries took over another full 5 minutes or more before they brought them out. Waitresses were not spending anytime filling drinks. When she did ask my husband about needing more water he said yes he was going to need more water, but she never brought any more out. I ordered the country fried steak. The batter was very dark and color like it was overcooked or cooked in old grease. One of the patties could not be eaten because it was so overcooked and burnt. The green beans were very mushy my mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. My daughter ordered fried okra and it was cold. The cornbread muffin was so small, my guess is it was the last of the batter being used. I could have eaten it in one bite. But it was so dry and flavorless that I chose to leave it on my plate. When the waitress finally asked how everything was I told her about our experience with the overcooked country fried steak and the cold okra and cold mashed potatoes and gravy. My husband ordered prime rib and it was way overcooked versus prime rib that you see at other restaurants. My mother's steak was overcooked and her grilled shrimp came out cold. The waitress brought out replacement mashed potatoes and gravy and replacement fried okra. I asked her about taking something off of the bill since I could not eat half of my dinner. She tried to say that the mashed potatoes and okra that she brought out were extra helpings, but I explained to her they were not extra that they were replacement for what was cold. I was not asking for a replacement country fried steak but I would like something off of my ticket. She finally agreed and took $5 off. Also with us having two children in our group they gave us one children's menu. These are the menus that have a coloring page on the back. We had to ask for a second kids menu and had to ask for the crayons. When our food came we also had to ask for silverware. Do not waste your time waiting to be seated and do not waste your time waiting for your food here. It is not worth it. They definitely have issues in the kitchen, as I was checking out I heard the waitress say that she had to make peach muffins because no one else had done it and they had run out. Overall I felt like I was in a living episode of Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares.

She returned with who I assume was the manager, and instead of simply acknowledging the mistake, they stood at our table demanding I pay for the salad whether I received it or not because it was "already being prepared." I was even told that if I refused, the server would have to pay for it herself. They continued standing there staring at me, making an uncomfortable situation even worse, then offered to make me a "fresh" salad to take home. Fresh? Was the one supposedly being prepared 10 minutes earlier already old? The food was average at best, but the customer service was remarkably poor. With staff standing around in a nearly empty restaurant, this was completely unnecessary. I won't return. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Thai Basil in Villa Rica instead--the food and service are exceptional and 100% worth the trip. Left a 20% tip anyway is it will be the last cent the restaurant ever gets from me.
